Almost everyone wants a positive attitude. Libraries, bookstores and websites are full of methods to attain a positive attitude or to achieve Positive Thinking.

The prudent person heeds the wisdom of Albert Einstein who stated “The significant problems we have cannot be solved at the same level of thinking with which we created them”
We live in a world of duality. Our society is built on hierarchy and it seems that we are relentlessly required to determine if something is good or bad, or one thing is better than another. Every choice we make all day long, from what to eat, what to wear to “paper or plastic?” requires a continual hierarchy of decisions that directs our lives and the focus of our lives.

Proponents of Positive Thinking say, “If we just eliminate the toxic thoughts or the negative emotions, we will produce a better world.” Sounds good, until you remember Einstein’s statement above, or even Newton’s Law stating that, “for every force there is an equal and opposite force”. Have you ever tried affirmations? Why do they work sometimes and don’t work other times? The strategy in affirmations is to identify and combat toxic thoughts by developing affirmations to counteract them. I may or may not believe what I say, but I say it. After all, there’s another law that says, “What we focus on grows”.

But what is really growing? And what are we really focusing on??

Have you ever considered that you may be concerned about some lack? By trying to fix it, you are putting focus on the lack and you may actually increase lack in your life.

In the Enlightenment book, MSI said, “There are a number of different teachings today that encourage a constant repetition of positive or idealized statements. One unfortunate effect of this is a polarization between conscious ideals and the unconscious belief systems of the destructive internal programming. If we fail to recognize, accept and change unconscious emotional and psychological imprints, these forceful tactics of the ego will only serve to create tension and resistance in the personality and can lead to a dangerous split between the conscious and unconscious minds.”

By using the Ascension Attitudes, we are structuring a higher state of consciousness. We are moving the awareness to the Source of All Good. From this state, there is only One…..there are no opposites, there is no good or bad…..there is only Infinite Potential. Every time we use the Ascension Attitudes our consciousness expands. The more we use the Ascension Attitudes, the more we habituate to higher levels of awareness.

Question or choice.."To be or not to be"

Did you know that research now confirms what MSI said about affirmations?

In Ascension! MSI said, “Simply deciding with the surface mind that ‘I am well’ is not only useless but potentially mentally deranging. Affirmations repeated by the conscious thinking level of the mind, although occasionally soothing distraught emotional states, are all but worthless for bringing about a deep transformation of perception of Reality. An affirmation repeated a few times a day does little to counteract the intensity of the habitual patterns created by the average adult human’s 50,000 daily thoughts.”

Dr. Joanne Wood at the University of Waterloo examined whether affirmations made students feel better. 68 students were asked to repeat to themselves every 15 seconds, "I am a lovable person." Those with high self-esteem felt better, those with low self-esteem felt worse. She theorizes that those with low self-esteem feel worse because they did not believe the statements and also they could not resist negative thoughts. First, they felt bad because they had not responded to the affirmations as they thought they should, and second, they had negative thoughts. (1)

In Enlightenment MSI said, “There are a number of different teachings today that encourage a constant repetition of positive or idealized statements.

Trying to deal with duality from the surface of the mind only divides the mind. The only “cure” for a divided mind is to Ascend. Every time we use the Ascension Attitude, which has no opposition, the mind returns to the One Source of Everything. Even if it is brief, as it may be when one first uses the practice, the mind moves out of duality for that moment. Unity or duality. For one who knows how to Ascend, there is choice.
It was titled The Power of Concentration. The writer, Maria Monnikova, brought out meditation – and in particular mindfulness – as a way to increase the effectiveness of the mind and to literally change the neurological connections in the brain.

Monnikova used Sherlock Holmes as an example of a character who is very good at using his mind in a one-pointed manner. The result of this is that he is far superior a detective compared to his contemporaries that rely on the usual method of running around in circles searching for physical clues. Sherlock merely centers his attention on a single element at a time.
If you wish to read the full article you can go here.

As I was reading the article another angle to this subject emerged; by and large there is still a very superficial understanding of the true nature of the mind. Mindfulness does touch the reality of it, but there is another more effective way. There exists an ancient and time-proven method to Ascend the mind to higher levels of functioning through systematically turning it inwards. There, deep inside of us the mind settles into its true nature which is absolute stillness and peace.

This may not strike you as a completely new concept. However, there is much confusion in how to directly experience this still nature of the mind. It is not through concentration or effort. Rather, when one has a vehicle sufficiently powerful for the inward journey of the mind, the mind will gradually and effortlessly settle into its true nature, the Absolute stillness.

The byproduct of having such a mind is what Monnikova described in her article: a one-pointed mind capable of miraculous feats from the perspective of the scattered waking state mind. But that is hardly the beginning to what is the actual potential of a mind that is coherent, one-pointed and focused on a singular object of attention.

If you are intrigued by the potential of your own mind, you might have an interest in the ancient wisdom of the Ishayas and their Teaching of Ascension. They are not merely suggesting a general direction to reach for what we speak of here, but a very simple way to actually practice restructuring your mind, your brain and your consciousness so that it serves you and others in marvelous ways.
We don’t need to run around in the mad chase for solutions (that don’t really exist on the plane that the problems were created). Consciousness acts decisively and with great efficiency. We are that consciousness. We all have the potential to realize the true nature of what we are.

The study suggested that mindfulness techniques may be more effective in relieving inflammatory symptoms than other activities that promote well-being.

The authors of the study pointed out that significant portions of the population do not benefit from pharmaceutical treatment options, and that some of these patients suffer from negative side effects of drugs.

"The mindfulness-based approach to stress reduction may offer a lower-cost alternative or complement to standard treatment, and it can be practiced easily by patients in their own homes, whenever they need [it]." Rosenkranz says.
Ascension is a gradual unfolding of knowledge through experience. Each of the courses offers techniques which are more advanced than the preceding…..

“They are systematic. They are simple to understand and practice. They involve no changes of beliefs or lifestyle. They involve no beliefs! And they are wonderfully effective at removing the stresses that block the perception of inner reality. Regular practice of Ascension produces manifold changes in life, based on personal, direct experience.”

An Introduction to the Art of Ascension

"The high mission of any art is, by its illusions, to foreshadow a higher universe reality, to crystallize the emotions of time into the thought of eternity.”

Since the beginning of the human race, we have engaged the mind and the senses to perceive the world around us, and to recognize a relationship between the world and our own human interaction.
We begin this relationship at birth; from our first recognition of our growing sensory perceptions we learn to recognize our parents. From them, we learn to recognize the world around us and from what we perceive of that, develop a relationship with that world through our experiences.
We all have experiences, that is what being human is all about. Yet we do not always have the same experiences. What makes us so unique is our ability to integrate experience into life and to socialize with others and their experience.
We have the mind to take experience and integrate it into our perceptions of reality and improve our perceptions, or to put it in other words, we can choose to evolve.
From the very beginning we have tried to see the world and ourselves in the best way we can. Everyone always, and at all times, does the very best they are capable of doing to live life in a way that will create happiness, or fulfillment through satisfaction.
In retrospect it would appear that some do better than others, but the truth is we will try to do the best we can rather than to intentionally choose to create suffering in our lives.

What is the story of my life? Whichever one I choose to make real or bring into my focus. There are the events played out and the experiences that I have had in my life… and yet were you to ask me that question, I would have to choose which story to tell you and from what angle.

The secret is that you can as if rewrite your entire story from this present moment. You can change the past and you can direct your future to wherever you want it to go. None of us live in a life created by somebody else or something else. This gives us both the freedom to change and it also dissolves our victim-consciousness.

Some of the most liberating experiences in my life have been those moments where I have been able to rewrite the script. To see how an entire chain of events has shifted into one of appreciation and love instead of the dreadful march through the darkness of ignorance. The slightest change in the inner environment towards what is real changes everything.

No one can make this change happen for me as it does not come from the outside, but I have never been alone with it either. The story of my life, the original draft of it, is created from Unconditional Love, Infinite Wisdom, Unyielding Strength. Connecting with That through direct experience is what changes everything. Every single moment of my life is seen in a different light, it becomes enlightened through clear perception of reality.

That story is worthy of telling. It is worthy to be found and experienced. Unique to each individual and yet born from the One source.

Ride the tiger into the night, have the courage of a thousand, dive into the depths of the great waters. Live a life worthy of who you really are.
Camp Pendleton School Infantry-West will offered an eight-week course in mindfulness starting on Tuesday (January 22, 2013) to about 80 Marines. The plan was to give Marines a tool to regulate their own stress levels before they lead to problematic behavior: "We have doctors, counselors, behavioral health scientists, all sorts of people to get help for Marines who have exhibited stress type symptoms but what can we do before that happens? How do we armor Marines up so they are capable of handling stress?" said Jeffrey Bearor, the executive deputy of the Marine Corps training and education command at its headquarters in Quantico. (1)

Adding to behavioral issues while in the military, veterans by the thousands are seeking treatment for post-traumatic stress. A record number are committing suicide, causing the military to search for ways to reduce strains on service members and veterans.

Mindfulness-based Mind Fitness Training" or "M-Fit" was designed by former U.S. Army Capt. Elizabeth Stanley, a professor at Georgetown University who found relief doing yoga and meditation for her PTSD. (“Mindfulness” includes practices that emphasize non-judgmental active attention to keep the mind in the present.)

Stanley, who is also involved in studies for the Army, said the techniques can help those in battle think more clearly under fire when they are often forced to make quick decisions that could mean life or death, and help them reset their nervous systems after being in combat.

"If indeed that proves to be the case, then it's our intention to turn this into a training program where Marines train Marines in these techniques," Bearor said. "We would interject this into the entry level training pipeline - we don't know where yet - so every Marine would be trained in these techniques."
The growing movement of mindfulness courses, as well as student interest in the topic, is being spurred in part by research showing how stress affects the ability to learn. The University of Virginia offered ‘Mindfulness as a Tool for Learning and Living,’ for the January 2013 term. The course included a number of contemplative exercises as well as a dozen guest speakers who taught the class a variety of contemplative practices, including yoga, nia and t’ai chi.
UVA’s new Contemplative Sciences Center, to be launched in April, will also offer a 180-person class this spring on ‘Buddhist Meditation and Modernity’ that will cover mindfulness. There are 50 students already on the wait list.

Fear has been the ruling emotion for a long time. We have come to accept a very low standard for living, an existence almost devoid of the potential that is within us. Scientists have found that we use only 5-10% of our DNA, of our mind, of our potential at every level. This is reflective of the state of affairs and humanity's current level of consciousness.

What we need in this time of change is clear understanding of how our minds and bodies naturally function and how we can align with the unlimited power that lies within. How can we access that 90% of our potential that lies dormant? This is what Ascension literally means –– to rise beyond the waking state's narrow awareness of reality. It is our ability and choice to Appreciate that will bring in the age of enlightenment.

"The Ishayas' Ascension" is a name given to an aspect of reality, a way of life, a way of thinking, a meditative tool.....

In the Enlightenment book authored by MSI, there is a word relating to a process. An approach, or what is sometimes identified as cause and effect. That word is Samyamah, it is described as the natural evolution of awareness as it ascends the ladder of cognitive function, when it (awareness) is removed from the subjective realities of the ego and moved to the ascendant in the recognition of the subject object source.

Having direct knowledge of the Ascendant as the source of all things, anything can be traced back to that source, and all knowledge of the subject/object can be known/cognized.

The mind intuitively becomes witness to the creation of any subjective reflection of consciousness from the beginning, or the first thought (relatively speaking) to the manifestation of the thought into reality, as it steps out of the subjective identification of self (ego), and into the Ascendant, which is beyond all quality of subjectivity.

MSI made no bones about the fact that this teaching of Ascension, which he lived and breathed, was nothing new. In fact he made mention of the fact that "Ascension" has had many names throughout history on this planet. No doubt it has many names in humanity regardless of what planet humanity has occupied, since it is the nature of the Consciousness to engage in creation and maintain a rapport with its creation.

From the simplest reflections of humanity to the most complex, there is within every reflection, the potential that is the Ascendant. All subjective appearances of humanity are clothes for the soul to wear, on the stage it creates, to perform and experience creativity.

One Thorn
to Remove All Others

When we witness the movements of the surface mind after closing our eyes, we might be surprised just how active the mind can be at times. The busyness of the world is reflective of the usual state of the Waking State mind of 100,000 thoughts. For the most part, those thoughts are not very creative and are reflections of our awareness being occupied by things of the past and the future. Our minds are running many useless silent streams of thoughts or programs that fill up the hard drive.

Some practices advocate the approach of controlling the thoughts or trying to create an experience of stillness or a state of thoughtlessness. This betrays unfamiliarity with the natural functioning of the mind. Attempting to change the flow of the surface mind without taking the mind inward to the Source of all thoughts is futile. There is no trying or controlling in Ascension.

MSI has used the analogy of taking one thorn to remove all other thorns in our hand. So we add one more thought to those 100,000 thoughts to remove them. And how does this happen?

The Ascension Attitudes have the quality of a pure thought and because of that they resonate with the level of pure consciousness -- the Ascendant. Unlike the thoughts of the surface mind, the Ascension Attitudes direct the mind back to the Source of all thoughts; and as a byproduct of this natural movement of the mind, Ascendant consciousness grows in our awareness. We use this one new thought to activate deeper levels of the mind that are fully connected with the Ascendant.

Because we are now using the mind in a way that it was designed to be used, the functioning of it changes radically. It consumes less energy and is much more capable of using its full potential. In other words, the mind becomes coherent and functions from one-pointedness instead of being all over the place.

The effectiveness of this one thorn, the Ascension Attitude, comes from the fact that it is given to us from an enlightened source, directly from the Ascendant Self. Ascension Attitudes are not inventions from the surface mind of some modern person. Rather, they are statements of Absolute Truth beyond the distortions of the Waking State.

How would the world reflect back to us if we were seated in the Reality of the First Ascension Attitude?

We all know from introductory talks and the First Sphere workshop the diagram of a coherent mind; one where the left and right hemispheres are connected and working in a smooth orderly fashion. We have learned that the tools of The Art of Ascension can help us activate this type of functionality in our brains the more regular we are with our practice. As it turns out, there are studies showing how Appreciation creates coherence in the heart as well.

Researchers at the Institute for HeartMath have found that talking to a subject during a period of their frustration and leading them toward appreciation greatly affects the heart rhythm. The heart then sends its pulsating waves to every inch of the body and creates a wonderful environment that nurtures health and vitality.

What is even more interesting is that, when one is relaxed there is not the same coherence as when one is in a state of appreciation. That causes me to think of times when my practice or life is a bit challenging and I continue to use the tools of The Art of Ascension, the study says there is more coherence in the heart in times of stress than in relaxation IF one is able to maintain a state of appreciation.

As I read this article I was even more touched by the depths of wisdom of the Masters who have passed these techniques down to us. Of course the studies are great and it is nice to have what I already know verified by science. But really it was having plenty of my own first-hand experience of such moments of appreciation within my own body that has kept me practicing The Art of Ascension.
Individuality and The Personal Reality

What is individuality and the personal reality? Is individuality separation and does it isolate the Ascendant into the personal reality? Is the personal reality something you can own, or control? Is it separate from the Universal reality where everyone can step in and share, or is it private only to you?

There is really only one reality. The Ascendant reality.

Anyone who has been to a First Sphere, and learned how to Ascend from a Teacher of the Ishaya Foundation has heard that we typically think up to 100,000 thoughts per day.

Why? Because you can. Should you? That depends on what you choose to do with your mind.

Some people are really good at multitasking, and others... not so much.

Imagine if there was a mind so powerful that it could follow every thought, but never lose sight of where it was and what it was doing as it followed every thought simultaneously. Such a mind might be Omniscient, Omnipresent and Omnipotent.

The state of consciousness known as Unity has several qualitative levels to it, such as immortality, miracle power and Brahman. Brahman is described as having the awareness in a thousand places at the same time.

Some of us get confused if we try to manage more than one thing at a time.

Something else you probably heard in the First Sphere; "Every thought has direction".

IF such a powerful mind created you, then that thought must be more than a haphazard and random eruption of chaotic energy. That thought came about by an activity within consciousness.

If we compare our 100,000 thoughts a day with the seven billion individuals we share this planet with, as well as the planet and all that it is composed of and how it neatly fits within the order of planets in this solar system, and how that fits within the arrangement of other solar systems that make up the galaxy that is the Milky Way Galaxy, and how this Milky Way Galaxy fits into other Galaxies to make the known Universe.... That's a lot of thoughts.

Have you ever just looked down onto the earth and observed the complexity of form and function in your back yard? The blades of grass in a lawn, with the many insects that live and move in that lawn; the other plants, shrubs and trees that live and breathe in the same air. They inhale and absorb a gas which we exhale and we inhale and absorb what they exhale, creating a symbiotic relationship. Everything interacting together in such grace and form... although, I still have not found much appreciation for ticks and mosquitoes. Consciousness must have had some idea about them that I don't share in my personal opinion.

OK, so looking at the idea of individuality. If you were consciousness and gave a thought some direction, it would take its direction but would be transmitting all of its information and experience back to you. Sort of like sending a satellite into space to observe something your physical body can't while seated in your chair in front of the TV. Though I doubt Consciousness as the source of all is preoccupied in the same sense as my analogy, you might still get the idea. This satellite then is on a course that no other satellite will duplicate in its position and direction as it encounters the other objects of nature which have their own course, as they are making their way through the created universe.

This satellite is connected to the source of all creations and through the source can get feedback as to what course changes it could make so that it does not run into something the source knows about, but it (the satellite) does not. Its senses are programmed to receive and send signals, within the limits of its construction. The source that it connects to is not limited to its construction or senses. By its very connection to the source it has unlimited resources, but physically it can only perform within the limits given to it by its design.

Each human individual is similar in that it is like the satellite but the mind of the human is not only connected to the source, it has all the capabilities that the source has to create the reality it moves in.

The human soul is a mirror of the One Ascendant consciousness and it has many forms. None of which are lesser or greater than the other. The soul also has an Over soul. It (the soul) is one of many forms imagined by the Over soul. That Soul is neither less nor greater than any other soul. Each soul has its own direction and its own abilities to make choices.

Matter contains ether (conscious particles), or matter is ether in form. Quantum physics tells us that matter takes its form from consciousness.

The following is from "The Hidden Truth" by Wade C. Wilson

The Conundrum of Consciousness

Though perhaps counterintuitive, consciousness cannot be easily sidelined from scientific examination. Doctors have found a person's state of mind can have significant effects on their body's ability to heal itself.

While that anecdotal observation has not provided enough solid evidence to cause every doctor to prescribe meditation as a form of medicine, quantum physicists have found definitively that at the sub-atomic level, the act of observation actually affects the reality being observed. This fact became known as the Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle: one cannot observe a phenomenon without changing or affecting it.

Some physicists have wondered whether the universe in some strange sense might be brought into being by the participation of those consciousnesses that have chosen to participate. The term 'participator' then has become an incontrovertible new concept given by quantum mechanics. It strikes down the idea of passive observation, given by classical theory, and shows that the vital act is the act of participation. In this way, there can no longer be a scientist who stands safely behind a thick glass wall and watches what happens in an isolated manner from the observed experiment without influencing the outcome simply by observing it.

Quantum mechanics insists such isolation cannot occur.

Nobel Prize-winning physicist Wolfgang Pauli described that from within one's inner center our psyche seems to move outward, experiencing, influencing, and even creating the physical world through the act of participation.

Thus physicists have found themselves, through the study of quantum mechanics, to be in the unanticipated field of the study of the structure of consciousness.

Christian de Quincey likened this phenomenon to being in the odd position of having to confront daily the indisputable fact of one's own consciousness, and yet having no way of being able to explain it.

What is consciousness and where does it come from? That is a philosophical question that dates back thousands of years. We can conclude consciousness is not composed of matter. But we have only assumed thus far that matter does not possess consciousness.

We must still ask, 'From whence then does consciousness originate?'

Greek philosopher Descartes was famous for his ability to doubt any given theory or philosophy. He could doubt what people said. He could doubt the validity of what his eyes showed him of the world. He could doubt himself; his own thoughts and feelings. He could even doubt that he was present in a physical body. But the one thing that he could not doubt was the fact that he was doubting. This revealed his one and only certainty: he was thinking. Descartes thus concluded if he was thinking, he had to be a conscious, experiencing being. As he put it in Latin, Cogito, ergo sum: I think, therefore I am.

This was and is the paradox of consciousness. Its existence is quite undeniable, and yet it remains totally inexplicable.

For the materialist meta-paradigm, consciousness is a monumental anomaly.

Religious people may claim God is the creator and the source of all creation. But physicists might say the same of consciousness.

Philosophically, the implications of quantum mechanics are mind blowing. Not only does quantum mechanics insist that we influence our reality, but also, at least to some degree, we actually create our reality.

Because quantum mechanics tells us that we can know either the momentum of a particle or its position, but not both, we are forced to choose which of these two properties we will want to determine.

Metaphysically, this is very close to saying that we will create those specific properties because we have chosen to measure them. In other words, it is possible that we can create something at a specific position, like a particle, for example, simply because we were intent on determining some thing existed at that position.

Returning to the discussion of conscious interpretation of the physical world, it can even be argued that our entire physical world – everything we can see, hear, taste, smell, and touch; as well as our private, inner world – every thought, feeling, fantasy, intimation, hope, and fear – is a form that consciousness has taken on for our benefit. Thus, consciousness becomes both the source and creator of everything we know.

For those who are interested his book is not yet published but available (at least the first few chapters) as a free download. http://www.thehiddentruth.us/

Getting back to the topic at hand, regarding individuality and the personal reality, we can determine that the state of mind has everything to do with scope of vision. If you are of the mind that you are separate from the whole, then the whole will be isolated from your experience by the walls you create between yourself, and the outward appearances of isolated objects of interest that you project from your mind.

A big part of this isolation was initiated as a momentum of thought which had its direction at the level of the soul. It began before your physical body came into creation, but still exists in the potential now. Or you could say, that the impulse of thought made you manifest as you appear and make yourself part of your surroundings. You (from the level of the ego) have no clue as to the ultimate direction of your future, but that doesn't mean it's not available. There are no absolute futures but there can be probable futures within possible choices in reality. You have free will so there is no set course in your life that is not open to deviation towards the probable outcome that is the eventual end of the form (body), that consciousness inhabits, even as it turns to dust.

The level of consciousness (waking, sleeping, dreaming, ascendant consciousness, etc.) will determine just how you experience yourself, whether it is as the isolated form or whether the awareness is seated in the Heart of the soul where consciousness is more expanded and omnipresent. There is nothing that is separate from you, and unless your reality is set to the standards where the unknown is the unknown, anything can be known. You will simply have to step out of your current mindset to sample a different experience, in life as a human being.
After arriving, he meets a Fairy in the Garden who showed him the wonders there. He loved it so much, he asked her if he could stay there always. She said, “That depends upon you. Every evening, I must leave. When I do, I must say ‘Come with me’ and I must beckon you. But, do not come with me, for with every step you take, your longing for the tree of knowledge will grow stronger. If you follow me and kiss me, Paradise will sink deep down into the earth and will be lost to you.” She adds, “I must repeat ‘Come with me’ every night. But every time you resist, you grow stronger and at last you will not even think of following.”

This “tale” illustrates life and the benefits of the Ishayas’ Ascension. We learn the Ascension Attitudes to return the mind to its Natural State of Innocence. Every time we use the Ascension Attitudes, we are opening the forgotten doorways to experience more and more of our expanded state of Awareness.

The world with all of its sensory pleasures is still part of the Ascendant. But, we lose sight of the Ascendant One and get lost in our experience of the senses. As MSI said in Ascension, “it is our continual, moment-by-moment decision that keeps us turned away from the Infinite inner light and toward the incessant problems of relative life.”

During an Ishayas’ Ascension Retreat, one has the opportunity to go very deeply inward. During this time away from the world, the nervous system can relax and slow down enough to find that Unchanging One waiting for recognition. Once we recognize the One sufficiently and cultivate the nervous system to experience expanded states, we then have a clear choice. As the Fairy says, the more we can remain in the Garden, the stronger we become in the ‘Ascended State of Awareness’ and no longer get lost in the experience.

With a tool, such as the Ascension Attitudes, one can cultivate the experience of the Infinite inner light continually. Ishayas’ Ascension Retreats increase the momentum inward, because even a 3-day retreat is equivalent to six months of daily practice of Ascension. Longer retreats accumulate the benefits exponentially. If you are searching for Paradise, consider an Ishayas’ Ascension Retreat. Our world wide retreat schedule has just been released!

Breath

Many band-aid approaches can be taken toward Stress Management, such as learning to breathe correctly, guided imagery, self-help books, etc.

From medical journals to holistic practitioners, everyone seems to be touting the benefits and importance of proper breathing… also known as belly breathing or diaphragmatic breathing. The way you breathe affects your whole body. Webmd.com says, “Deep breathing is one of the best ways to lower stress in the body.”[1] Everyone knows how to do it, but due to stress and other societal conditioning, other forms of breathing take precedence in most people.

A person under stress takes small, shallow breaths, using their shoulders rather than their diaphragms to move air in and out of their lungs. Shallow over-breathing (or hyperventilation) can prolong feelings of anxiety by exacerbating physical symptoms of stress.

In Enlightenment by MSI, a book that describes what happens as one expands consciousness, it states, “As the mind settles down during the practice of Ascension, the breath naturally stills. Refinement of the breath, then, can be considered the cause of the increasing health and happiness that are the common results of Ascending.”[2]

Other benefits of regular Ascending are:

o Lowered blood pressure and heart rate
o Improved immune system functioning
o Increased physical energy
o Feelings of calm and well-being
o Relaxed breathing

Why manage stress? The purpose of Ascension is to release ALL the stress from the nervous system and achieve full human consciousness. Since the mind can only do one thing at a time, if it is floating in the pure experience of Unlimited being while using the Ascension Attitude, it has no time left to be caught reacting to the stress.

The universe is forever giving and will constantly provide us with opportunities to see the world anew. Perhaps it is time that we have more self-love and, courage in being who we are, and express ourselves unapologetically to others. Ascending allows us to gradually and effortlessly move from victim-consciousness to creator-consciousness where we know that we have a choice in life, and that we are not helpless victims to the world around us, but powerful Creators with the ability to view and experience the world in whatever way we choose. As we practice turning inward and clearing the mind and body of stress, we will start to create less chaos on the outside as the universe responds to our one pointed minds and hearts.
The Ascendant is everywhere. It permeates and underlies everything. There is nowhere that the Ascendant does not reside. That is why everything that is happening on the outside is the Ascendant, and is being created for our higher growth. As MSI writes, “At all times, there is only good. What a relief to a tired mind to think such a simple thought! Entertaining this one thought challenges us to see the good in that which the surface mind has judged to be bad or unworthy. Entertaining this one thought propels us deeper and deeper into the growth of our individual consciousness. Entertaining this one thought inspires us to learn of the good in all things.” (Ascension!, p. 106).

Toxic Thoughts & Emotions

Every time you have a thought, it is changing your brain and your body – for better or for worse.

Dr. Carolyn Leaf has studied the human brain since 1981 and wrote a book about the effects of toxic thoughts. Below is a list from her book of common toxic thoughts:

• "could-have", "would-have", "should-have" statements
• "if onlys" statements
• replaying situations that pained you or that haven't even occurred yet
• creating the unpredictable future
•    making comments like "nothing ever goes right for me"; "everything I touch fails";
     "I always mess up"
• Are you at cross-purposes with yourself - going through the motions, but not really
committed to the goal, saying one thing but meaning another? How honest are you
     with yourself?
• How distorted is your thinking? Are you forming a personal identity around for example,
a disease? Do you speak about "my arthritis", "my multiple sclerosis",
     "my heart problem"? [1]

On a surprising note, Dr. Aaron Beck believed that toxic emotions arise from three negative and incorrect beliefs that people commonly think:
1. I must do well
2. You must treat me well
3. The world must be easy [2]

Dr. Marion Diamond, another groundbreaking brain researcher, describes memory networks. In effect, these networks create "copies" of your "thought life" along with the emotions that the chemicals coursing through your bloodstream literally carry around your whole body like an information highway. Information molecules are then able to cause changes at the cellular level, actually restructuring the cell's makeup on the outside and the DNA on the inside. This is how diseases are able to take hold in the body. [3] The toxic waste that builds up actually distorts your memories!

The list of diseases and chronic disorders caused by toxic thoughts and emotions is quite long and includes all the major maladies of the day.

Unmaking or unlearning old belief patterns is extraordinarily difficult by consciously attempting to unmake them or change them.

But it is possible to change deep-seated belief patterns easily and effortlessly. This is done by the introduction of a few new seed thoughts. These seed thoughts have the unique and invaluable characteristic of systematically and effortlessly expanding the conscious boundaries of the individual’s mind. Each of these seed thoughts has the result of unmaking past belief patterns that keep our lives from unfolding in a healthy and harmonious way. Each of these seed thoughts, correctly practiced, causes the entire range of the personality to become aligned with the most basic force in the Universe.

"The Ascension Attitudes are designed to clear out past beliefs and behavior patterns which inhibit full mental and physical functioning. By effortlessly introducing these seed thoughts at a deep and refined level of thinking, the entire structure of the mental framework gradually and gracefully transforms to reflect Reality." [4]
There is little understanding of the reality of the mind-body continuum that we experience. And even if it is intellectually understood, there are only a few who really tap into the potential that we have inside.

The true healer is inside of us, but this kind of healing does not create profit for business, nor does it recognize a reality of victimhood. The healing that manifests as we let go of our limiting beliefs and stresses is profound and lasting. It happens through individual choice for Reality. One only needs an efficient tool such as the Art of Ascension to activate this choice.

The body is much slower to change than our mind. Yet, a mind that is focused on Reality will change the body and ultimately the entire world we live in. There is a giant leap occurring in human consciousness right now. Soon we will know what True Healing means; we will experience it and know what is the source of it.

Business Cards

Many of us have felt the power of Ascension and know that it is a very effective means that connects us to the Divine source within. We want to share this with others: our friends, family, loved ones or anyone we happen to meet that inspires us in that way. This article is written to those of you that truly loves this Practice; and wants to share with others this amazing and effective tool that we know WORKS!

So much attention has gone into the ending of 2012 and the possible scenarios of different prophesies and their interpretations. Yet the world is forever changing, despite any calendars, despite what we think about it. The world is moving and flowing in the current of creation and we get to choose what part we play in that flow. Are we going against it or with it? Are we opening up more for the creative potential in us or clamping down to safeguard what we think we have?

To really have the ability to be fully in this world fully requires one thing: we need to know that we are beyond this world of the five senses. And when that awareness begins to grow, our perception of reality will naturally evolve to greater vistas.

The enlightened masters describe this state of being as “being in the world, but not of the world”. In this state of being, one can step into the changing world and experience the wonder of it in growing Appreciation. Then there is no need to lean on prophecies or other people’s interpretations, but simply to experience more of life.

Multi-task Myth

I used to think that I was pretty good at multi-tasking. But, after Ascending and becoming more aware of what was actually happening around me, I found that I am not. Actually, current research seems to expose the myth about multi-tasking…being good at multi-tasking is an illusion created while in the busy mode of multi-tasking!

Here’s some of the current research that you might find interesting:

• In 2005, the BBC reported on a research study, funded by Hewlett-Packard and conducted by the Institute of Psychiatry at the University of London, that found, “Workers distracted by e-mail and phone calls suffer a fall in IQ more than twice that found in marijuana smokers.”(1)

• Researchers at the University of California at Irvine monitored interruptions among office workers; they found that workers took an average of twenty-five minutes to recover from interruptions such as phone calls or answering e-mail and return to their original task. (2)

• Russell Poldrack, a psychology professor at the University of California, Los Angeles, found that “multitasking adversely affects how you learn. Even if you learn while multitasking, that learning is less flexible and more specialized, so you cannot retrieve the information as easily.” Discussing his research on National Public Radio, Poldrack warned, “We’re really built to focus. And when we force ourselves to multitask, we’re driving ourselves to perhaps be less efficient in the long run even though it sometimes feels like we’re being more efficient.” (3)

• Stanford research put people who regularly multi-task and even consider themselves to perform well at multitasking through a series of tests. Tests showed that multi-taskers were outperformed by those who are only light multi-taskers. They found the heavy multi-taskers had difficulty with their memory plus were distracted by irrelevant information much more easily than those who did not multi-task often. (4)

• Here’s a video that gives an example of how the brain is trying to operate in “multi-task” mode and further information on the subject: click here.

It is rather difficult to multitask and stay in the present moment. One way to talk about being in the present moment is the art of paying attention --being available to truly listen to others, as well as the guiding voice within, and to become aware of the Source of All Thought. These cannot be accomplished when one is pulled in many directions at the same time.

However, it is normal for minds in the waking state to wander aimlessly through 100,000 thoughts per day. These thoughts are random or in reaction to the environment. Few minds are accustomed to being one-pointed.

In the Ascension! Book, MSI says, “The mind can be trained to think one-pointedly, or it can continue to think as most human minds think, in conflict and diversity. Ascension’s simple suggestion is that this process of re-training is not only effortless but easy, completely natural and extremely quick. Part of the secret is to charm the mind during every phase of this transformation.” The simple, regular practice of charming the mind to clarity using “The Art of Ascension” is all that is required to experience our heritage of Infinite Awareness, to gain true freedom, and to live life spontaneously. It becomes easier and easier to experience the love around us and to love more unconditionally. Life then unfolds in perfection.
In reality the Ascendant Self traverses all imagined boundaries of ego and time and IT (Self) is eternally active in the NOW, or all lifetimes. Whether they appear to be past or present or future from the identification of the ego, all lifetimes are interactive. What you are doing now is affecting what is happening in the past and the future and vice versa.

The ego thinks very small. It's boundaries lay within the identification of one single lifetime whether it can imagine itself or not in other lives. It separates its beliefs as the self in this lifetime with the beliefs of the ego in alternate realities or other lives. It does not include the infinite perspectives of all of its lives any more than it can integrate the knowledge, experience and beliefs of all humanity in its present life.

Even if it could it would fall short of the potential that exists in what can or could be experienced if the mind could traverse the entire lifespan of humanity within the created lifespan of the created universe just on one dimensional level. There are many more systems within the universe that support human life than our earth bound solar system.

Infinite wisdom cannot be contained any more than can one contain the Ascendant. One cannot stand in the relative and bring the infinite into the relative. It is impossible. No one can stand in the relative and claim to be enlightened and hold onto their experience of their enlightenment. It will change and so will their idea of enlightenment. Our conditioning from early on has created the idea that we are doers and movers and that is the measure of our worth. In that world, there rarely is time for such a thing as meditation. Meditation as an activity is not producing results in the sense that we could easily relate to in this physical world.

Meditation is the polar opposite of how we are used to using our minds. Another way to describe meditation could be an inward moving mind. And that movement – instead of keeping the wheels turning in the outward movement – actually slows us down until we arrive at the very center where even the slightest movement of the mind ceases. This is meditation.

To truly appreciate and experience life, we need to learn this inward movement – meditation. From the inside out, we will realize that time is vastly different from our conception of it, and that only the meditative mind truly has time, because awareness is present to experience the Now. To be functional and effective in this world happens most effortlessly through a mind that is one-pointed and coherent: a mind in meditation. It takes far less energy to work at deeper levels of the mind; and this alone changes the way we move through daily life. If ever you feel that time is moving too fast and you can’t keep up with the pace – there is a different way to experience life.

An interesting thing that psychologists noted about Attitudes is that there are 3 levels of commitment to any Attitude, each with their own rewards:

* Low commitment – compliance: formed to gain reward or avoid punishment

* Medium commitment – identification: As related to ego identification/comparison or self-perception

* High commitment – deep seated attitude: As to become part of the value system (5)

So as with any Attitude, the level of commitment is everything. Ascension is so powerful as to be able to completely clear the nervous system and lead to full human consciousness. However, one can Ascend to feel better or reduce stress (just 20 minutes, two or three times a day); one can Ascend to improve their life (use Ascension Attitudes as often as you think of them); or one can Ascend to the Ultimate of Life – Full Human Consciousness, by adopting the Ascension Attitudes with full commitment.

MSI said, “Abundance in any area of human concern is the result of one-pointed commitment. It does not work to say, “I will change as soon as the external conditions make it possible to change.” The Universe can and will out-wait any such ego proposal. What does work is to say, “I will change Now, today; as I move consistently toward my goal, I assume that the means will manifest for me.” And of course they do, for instead of resisting the flow of life, the individuality has now aligned with Cosmic Will.” (6)

Ruby Nelson said, “The full realization of your true identity, your master pattern, does not suddenly burst upon you until the seed of truth has been planted, nourished, cherished, and allowed to mature to ripeness. This does not take thousands of years, it does not take hundreds, it may take only a few short years, a few months, a few weeks, depending entirely upon your attitude and intensity.” (7)

                                                       Why are Attitudes Important?

“Attitudes, habits and emotions are largely responsible for mental and physical health.” (2) Research shows that around 98% of illnesses can be attributed to our thought life, and approximately 13% to diet, genetics and environment.

Dr. Leaf goes on to say that every emotion results in an attitude. Negative emotions evolve from fear. Positive emotions evolve out of faith. In other words, there are faith-based emotions and fear-based emotions.

Toxic stressors are activated by fear, so fear is the root of all stress. Research shows that fear triggers more than 1400 known physical and chemical responses and activates more than 30 different hormones and neurotransmitters.

Fear based emotions demand more and more space physically in the brain as well as in our thought life. Like weeds, they grow in abundance crowding everything else out. (3)

Your emotional state affects how your body responds to a virus. If you experience toxic emotions, the peptides flood the cell surface and change the receptor to make cells more permeable. Therefore, a virus that happens to be sitting outside of the cell can easily slip in thereby making you sick.

However, according to Dr. Leaf, when one experiences praise, positive chemicals are released and distributed through the body, making positive changes to cells and DNA. They actually enhance your ability to build memory, develop intelligence and boost your immune system to help you stay healthy longer.

As Dr. Leaf noted, faith-based emotions create positive effects. The Ascension Attitudes help to build faith - the faith that can change everything. The Door of Everything reminds us, “As you weave these three Ascension Attitudes into the fabric of your daily life, you will be filled with great and mighty faith; for love, praise, and gratitude are major components of that essential attribute.” (4)
Part 1 of 3

Have you ever thought about why we have Ascension Attitudes? After all, what is an Attitude anyway? The simplest definition I could find for Attitude is - a blend of values and beliefs about our world which predispose us to behave in certain ways. So, an attitude is actually 3 things –Thinking, Feeling, Doing.

Right in line with that, MSI said in the Ascension! Book; “Each of the Ascension Attitudes has three aspects. First, there is an emotional content to drive the experiencer inward -- Appreciation, Gratitude, Love and Direct Cognition. The second aspect is a direct alignment with the Ascendant. This unites the conscious mind with the Infinite Source within. The third characteristic of each of the Ascension Attitudes is a mental focus on one of the root areas of the individuality that is stressed and could be more fully lived.” The Ascension Attitude addresses those 3 components, Feeling, Thinking, Doing.

MSI continues saying, “The three-fold structure of the Ascension Attitudes causes each of the three primary aspects of our personality -- our hearts, our minds, our bodies -- to move in the direction of growth.”

“Love, praise, and gratitude, arising from your heart center in silent expectancy….these three Ascension Attitudes are your perfectly-fitted keys, the keys to the Door of Everything. These keys are lovingly placed into your hands. You must use them persistently if you would see that Door fly open. For it can be unlocked only from your side.” 1

If you had no previous knowledge, or any idea of who or what you are, who would tell you who or what you are, or where would you get your information from?

As newborn babies our humanity is defined for us by our parents and all of the societal influences that color their beliefs in the way they interact with us. Television, radio, the internet (the media) and even our public school systems can prescribe systems of belief which become our social mores.
Our parents beliefs, filtered into their language is filled with the unconscious acceptance of what reality is, in the definitions they have chosen to accept, at their level of conscious awareness as they either experience it, or believe in it regardless of experience.
From the standpoint of the ego living in the waking state, this is inclusive of the fears that are imagined by the superstitious mind which is lacking in experience.
Beliefs and superstition, are easily passed down from generation to generation, and as good children we so often accept what we are told by the accepted authority without much thought.

If we are born in Russia and we call ourselves Russian, or in England we call ourselves English, or America we call ourselves American. How do we differentiate our character, our heritage, or our intelligence?
The Ultimate lies in the Unmanifest, the Source, That from which everything is created. The easiest explanation for this is to consider Genesis 1:1, “In the beginning, God created the Heaven and the Earth”--- What was there in the beginning? The Unmanifest, Unlimited Potential, the Source, Universal Mind --- it goes by many names.

This is not only the key to higher consciousness; it is the key to transformation in one’s life. Many have tried method after method to make changes in their lives, but wonder why methods sometimes work and sometimes don’t work. Or, they work, but sometimes it might take a long time. Why is that?

Many methods can lead to higher consciousness or transformation because they touch ever so briefly on the Unmanifest. However, most often the goal of these methods or the aspirant is the external outcome --- the healing, the loving feeling, the peace, the revelation --- in other words the experience. Because that is the intent, or goal, reaching higher consciousness takes longer.

Ishayas’ Ascension is a very unique tool. This tool develops tap roots into the Unmanifest, The Source, thereby developing higher consciousness in a short amount of time. Ascension actually restructures the mind to tap into higher consciousness as its normal mode of operation. The more we practice, the more we can tap into that Infinite Source that brings All Good to our lives. From that, the by-products are endless because they are all coming from the Source --- the Ascendant.

Does your favorite bookstore also have a coffee shop with a
place for people to present material?

Does the University or school you frequent host educational events for the students or faculty?

If yes, would you then be willing to help us create an Ascension! Book Reading? Talking to the owner of the shop and sharing your enthusiasm for the book is a great way to start. Letting the local store know that there are speakers/teachers who travel all over sharing their love of this book will help get them closer to inviting us in to speak.

If you know of a perfect little spot for a reading, but do not want to speak to the owner yourself, then contact our office and we will help you to connect all the dots!

Here is a sample of the beautiful flyer we will create to advertise the book reading that you helped us create.
