A beloved American tradition, Thanksgiving Day offers us the opportunity to focus our thoughts on the grace that has been extended to our people and our country. This spirit brought together the newly arrived Pilgrims and the Wampanoag tribe - who had been living and thriving around Plymouth, Massachusetts for thousands of years - in an autumn harvest feast centuries ago. This Thanksgiving Day, we reflect on the compassion and contributions of Native Americans, whose skill in agriculture helped the early colonists survive, and whose rich culture continues to add to our Nation's heritage. We also pause our normal pursuits on this day and join in a spirit of fellowship and gratitude for the year's bounties and blessings.

Thanksgiving Day is a time each year, dating back to our founding, when we lay aside the troubles and disagreements of the day and bow our heads in humble recognition of the providence bestowed upon our Nation. Amidst the uncertainty of a fledgling experiment in democracy, President George Washington declared the first Thanksgiving in America, recounting the blessings of tranquility, union, and plenty that shined upon our young country. In the dark days of the Civil War when the fate of our Union was in doubt, President Abraham Lincoln proclaimed a Thanksgiving Day, calling for "the Almighty hand" to heal and restore our Nation.

In confronting the challenges of our day, we must draw strength from the resolve of previous generations who faced their own struggles and take comfort in knowing a brighter day has always dawned on our great land. As we stand at the close of one year and look to the promise of the next, we lift up our hearts in gratitude to God for our many blessings, for one another, and for our Nation. This Thanksgiving Day, we remember that the freedoms and security we enjoy as Americans are protected by the brave men and women of the United States Armed Forces. These patriots are willing to lay down their lives in our defense, and they and their families deserve our profound gratitude for their service and sacrifice.

This harvest season, we are also reminded of those experiencing the pangs of hunger or the hardship of economic insecurity. Let us return the kindness and generosity we have seen throughout the year by helping our fellow citizens weather the storms of our day.

As Americans gather for the time-honored Thanksgiving Day meal, let us rejoice in the abundance that graces our tables, in the simple gifts that mark our days, in the loved ones who enrich our lives, and in the gifts of a gracious God. Let us recall that our forebears met their challenges with hope and an unfailing spirit, and let us resolve to do the same.

GREGORY ISAACS DIED AT AGE 59!! R.I.P.

Reggae singer was known as the "Cool Ruler!"

The "Cool Ruler" has died. Reggae great Gregory Isaacs, who earned that chilled-out honorific thanks to his natty dress and emphasis on romantic, yearning tunes, died at the age of 59 at his home in London following a yearlong battle with lung cancer, according to BBC News.

Isaacs, best known for his bubbling 1982 hit "Night Nurse," gained his nickname as a result of his 1978 album, Cool Ruler, on which he perfected the reggae style known as "lover's rock," a swaying, bouncy sound that mixed the insistent thrum and downbeat of the Jamaican islands with a 1950s R&B crooner-style vocal.

"Gregory was well-loved by everyone, his fans and his family, and he worked really hard to make sure he delivered the music they loved and enjoyed," his wife Linda said in a statement.

Though his recorded persona was that of a sensitive, often heartbroken man, a Los Angeles Times obituary noted that Isaacs was blocked from taking up the mantle of the late Bob Marley as the next international reggae star as a result of his outlaw "rude boy" persona, which resulted in dozens of arrests over the years on drug and gun charges, as well as a serious cocaine addiction.

Isaacs, born in Kingston, Jamaica, on July 15, 1951, loved listening to American R&B singers such as Sam Cooke and Smokey Robinson on the radio as a child and began making a name for himself as a teenager in the 1960s, performing at talent contests and with other vocalists before going solo in 1970.

After a string of self-released albums and singles on his own African Museum label, he finally hit pay dirt with 1973's "My Only Lover," widely considered the first lover's rock tune. Like so many of his hits, it showcased his sensual, smooth tenor and kicked off a decade-plus run of chart-toppers that peaked in 1982 with the seductive "Night Nurse," recorded at Marley's Tuff Gong studios. In addition to his entrancing high and longing vocals, Isaacs used urgent moans and groans as the signature punctuation on some of his most beloved songs.

In keeping with his outlaw image, Isaacs was unable to celebrate the hit because he was serving a six-month prison sentence in Jamaica for unlicensed handgun possession. "I'd say he's one of the three geniuses I've known in the reggae music business, and I've known everyone," said Gary Himelfarb, who released several Isaacs albums on his label, RAS Records, in the 1990s.

"Gregory was the kind of person who could walk through a room of 20 people and come out the other side and tell you what everybody was wearing," added Himelfarb, known professionally as Dr. Dread. "He could sit at a piano and compose incredible tunes. He was really brilliant. He was on a whole other level than your typical Jamaican artist."

While the combination of his legal troubles and the ravages of drugs on his subtle voice contributed to his unreliability, Isaacs nonetheless became an inspiration to a new generation of reggae stars through his combination of lover's rock and more politically charged tunes, such as "Black Liberation Struggle."

Son and fellow reggae singer Kevin Isaacs, who appeared on the joint 2000 album Father and Son, tweeted a tribute to his dad Sunday night, writing, "R.I.P Dad, you're a great father to me and my Idol. That's all I can say for now, I'm hurt. My dad just died. Give thanks to all his supporters."

Though he was said to have recorded 500 albums in his career, the Timessaid Isaacs put the number at closer to 200. His final album was 2008'sBrand New Me for the African Museum label.

RELOCATION!

Hi All!

I recently relocated back to my home away from home, NorthWest, Seattle WA, and I guess I must have brought the sunshine with me, because we have been getting nothing but beautiful weather up here....and I am loving every bit of it!

It is so good to be back, I am really feeling the love from old, new friends and acquaintances. My family drove down from Canada to see us already, and that reunion was long overdue!!!!!

If you're an avid reader like myself, you should definitely pick these up these novels if you like Eric Jerome Dickey, he's one of the Best African American Authors of 2010!!!

Do you recall in my introduction, where I told you I was going to take you on an adventure to my native island?! well, here is a little piece of where I am from, and what I do best...enjoy the tour, and be sure to let me know what you think about the island. You will see why I am so "laid-back"!

Jamaica is an island nation of the Greater Antilles!

234 kilometres (145 mi) in length and as much as 80 kilometres (50 mi) in width situated in the Caribbean Sea. It is about 145 kilometres (90 mi) south of Cuba. Take an exotic vacation on the wonderful island of Jamaica!

Sandals Resorts in Jamaica offer 7 different resorts to choose from. The resorts are scattered all across the island for your convienence and confort and pleasure. Some of the resorts are adult only and some of the resorts offer all in-clusive deals.

My experience with Sandals Resorts has been fantastic and I would highly recommend them over and over again!!

Negril
One of the most famous beaches at Negril must certainly be the well known Seven Mile Beach. For those of you that are looking for a Jamaica beach that is clothing optional then the Seven Mile beach is where you should go. This Jamaica beach became famous due to the large hippy community that was living in Negril during the 1960's. The easy way of life can still be witnessed daily at the Seven Mile beach. Some of the best Jamaican resorts are actually located in the Negril area and many of these resorts offer nude beach areas.

The head of state is Queen Elizabeth II, who officially uses the title "Queen of Jamaica" when she visits the country or performs duties overseas on Jamaica's behalf. Jamaica's current Constitution was drafted in 1962 by a bipartisan joint committee of the Jamaican legislature.

Jamaica is the fourth largest island in the Caribbean, and the most populous English-speaking island in that region. The island of Jamaica is home to the Blue Mountains inland, and is surrounded by a narrow coastal plain. Most major towns and cities are located on the coast. The climate in Jamaica is tropical, with hot and humid weather, although higher inland regions have a more temperate climate.

Jamaica beaches are considered to be a gift by God to the people of Jamaica. Many local residents on Jamaica say that the Jamaica beaches are the next best thing after heaven. There are a number of great Jamaica beaches and if you are planning a holiday to Jamaica then please make sure to take some time for visiting different beautiful Jamaica beaches and not only the one at your Jamaica resort. We have listed in our Jamaica guide some of our favorite Jamaica beaches.

Kingston
If you are staying in Kinston and are looking for some nice Jamaica beaches then please make sure to visit the renowned Lime Cay area which is a very popular beach area with many watersport facilities. Lime Cay is in fact a relatively small island which can only be reached by boat. If you would like to visit this Jamaica beach area then please first go to Port Royal from which you can catch a boat ride to Lime Cay.

Montego Bay

Montego Bay is one the regions in Jamaica which offers the nicest and largest variety of Jamaica beaches. Montego Bay is a very popular destination for tourists with kids as the facilities are very child friendly. One of the nicest Jamaica beaches in the Montego Bay area is the always very busy Cornwall beach. A variety of shops, bars, restaurants and watersport facilties can be found at this Jamaica beach.

Port Antonio
One of my favorite Jamaica beaches can be found in the Port Antonia area. The Boston Bay beach can easily be classified as one the most beautiful Jamaica beaches. If you enjoy fishing or surfing then Boston Bay beach will be the ideal Jamaica beach for you! It is worth noting that the Bostan Bay beach was at one time owned by Roger More (007) however he donated the beautiful Jamaica beach back to the people.

Every year, the United States recognizes March 10th as National Women and Girls HIV/AIDS Awareness Day. The nationwide initiative raises awareness about the increasing impact of HIV/AIDS on women & girls and encourages ladies to take action. While progress has definitely been made in the areas of AIDS prevention and treatment, women still represent 27% of all new AIDS diagnoses, with African-American women accounting for 66% of that group. This year focuses on this statistic, "Every 35 minutes, a woman tests positive for HIV in the United States".

My names is Winsome M. Taylor, a 38 year old devoted mother of two (a girl, Shantah K. Salmon, 18, and a boy, Tireek N. Taylor 5) I am also the wife, and soul mate of 13 years to a U.S. Navy veteran. I am a proud native of Jamaica, West Indies; a small and world-renowned "laid-back!" island in the Caribbean. I migrated to the United States in 1996, and resided in some of the most famous, and fabulous Cities in the U.S. included: "Queens, New York; Seattle, Washington; Los Angeles, California, and Atlanta, Georgia". I also visited Vancouver, Canada, where my mom, and sisters lives. I currently reside in Metropolitan Atlanta area, and plans to settle and plant some roots there!!!!

I am the proud founder, and CEO of TaylorLegal Virtual Services, LLC "TLVS" a virtual legal assistance firm, specializes in providing freelance paralegal administrative assistance to licensed SOLO attorneys nationwide. I am a Certified Paralegal, and Certified Legal Secretary with more than fifteen years of legal office experience, during which I have developed many systems and procedures, while working in both administrative and managerial roles.

I am a prestigious, dynamic, and professional entrepreneur, and pride myself to be fully committed to producing quality work that guarantees satisfaction to my clients. When, I not working hard for my clients that I so appreciate, I enjoy spending my spare time volunteering, and networking with like-minded professionals, and entrepreneurs. I am an avid reader, an inspired writer, a blog enthusiast, I love poetry, and continue to be a frugal spender, (thankful for what my parents instilled in me). I also have a daunting passion for interior decorating and designing (another childhood dream of mine, tht iwill pursue). I love and appreciate great tasting wine (red wine is my favorite, depaend on my mood), I also appreciate a myriad of good music including but not limited to gospel; soca/calypso; reggae, r&b, lover rock, and smooth jazz.

My dedication as a wife, and mother to our teenage daughter whom is a senior in high school, she loves golf, and an inspired actress, and plans to be a psychiatrist. Our five year old pre-schooler a future NBA/NFL player, and inspired veterinarian because of his love for animals (he have this obsession with Nickjr's "GO DIEGO GO!" character!) are my number one (1) priority. (what an humbling experience we will have when both our kids become doctors!) I adore my family, and just love to spend quality time with them! I love cooking my favorite dishes, I am especially famous by my friends, and family, for making my Jamaican authentic "Christmas Rum Cake," "Oxtails" and "Jerk Chicken with Rice & Peas" .....I also love to cook southern style soul-food dishes my loving husband,and best friend taught me to cook since living here in the U.S.

Okay, so now that you have made my acquaintance, I would like to point out that in addition to this new personal blog of mine, I also have two business blogs (http://www.taylorlegalvirtualservices.com/blog, and http://4winsome.spaces.live.com/blog ), so I have decided to keep it consistent, by creating a personal blogs to give my readers, and clients a bit more details of social life, and my inner-most thoughts and feelings on just about anything that comes to mind.

Being a mom for eighteen (18) years, I have learned to embrace the increasing demands of balancing my life as a busy mother, wife and entrepreneur, while navigating my God given gifts and purpose of life in this world, and I must tell you it is not an easy road (no one said it was going to be easy!).

I plan to include my journey as a "Bonifide Jamaican", taking advantage of the perfect opportunity to pursue and accomplish a more comfortable lifestyle in the "BIG APPLE", while in the interim embracing motherhood, marriage and entrepreneurship.
