Girls, they wanna have fun

Last week some friends and I had a game night. This particular night we played "Mall Madness"! Yes, the one you played as a kid. No wonder I have such a horrible shopping problem! That's the game that taught me about credit cards!!!! However, I think I had more fun playing it last week than I did as a kid. My friend, Sarah, brought the game over along w/ this adorable hat. I had to try it on for a pic. I'm in comfy clothes for our little girls' night in. But, I think the hat definitely complimented my lazy duds. Anyway, hope you guys have a great weekend. Fun on the Bayou... Roll Tide

This past weekend I had the pleasure of being in New Orleans for the BCS National Championship game. If you follow this blog at all, you probably know that my whole family are diehard bama fans. We spent four days in Nola eating good food, drinking, enjoying each other's company and beating the shit out of LSU. I don't know if you saw the score but, they didn't even score a point. Roll Tide. These pictures were taken on Sunday before I went out and about around town. We went to the jazz lounge at Pat O'Briens, a legendary Nola bar, then went for some tasty lunch and many drinks. It was a really fun day and the weather was wonderful. I finally got to wear my new Steve Madden boots w/ bare legs and a short dress... something I've been excited to do since I first laid eyes on the boots. Anyway, we had a blast. I may post some more pictures from the weekend later. If not, you can check them out on my facebook page under "Road to 14". Fourteen being the number of Nat'l Championships we have. Yep.

flashback on the holidaze

Before I knew it, Stephanie and I were in Charlotte for New Years. It was a fantastic holiday season for me. I'm glad I was able to capture a few of the great memories made on film. old school trends, new technology

So, I just got a macbook pro and I must say... I'm in love! I spent the morning laying in bed, browsing blogs and shopping sites. Something I have missed tremendously. You see, I don't have the best of luck with computers. I've broken a few and, although I have a blog, am kind of slow when it comes to technology. I still use a VCR if that helps you get the picture (my collection of VHS tapes is pretty rad though). Anyway, MAC makes it easy. I love my new lil pro. It has allowed me to float away into fashion wonderland today.

Here are a few things that, yes, I would LOVE to have but, no, I cannot afford. That's okay though. I can look and imagine. Daydreaming is one of my favorite things to do. :)

It's Autumn. My favorite season... the season of Bama football, panic fall tour, leaves changing colors, cooler weather, Halloween (I love dressing up), among other great things. This fall, I've been to all the Bama home games so far. Posted below, a few pics of myself and some sweet friends I've enjoyed game time with this season. You can pin photos your boards from other users, the net or your own photo collection. It's so much fun for searching inspiring pics on the web. I have boards for music, fashion, my personal style, bags, books, food, crafts.. just to name, well several. But, that, my friends, is why it is so cool. DIY- Dip Dyed denim and summer knits

I love the trend this summer of taking old shorts and thin knits and dip dying them yourself! You can find either of these at your local thrift store. You can get the dye at your local craft store OR get creative and find natural dyes to use. Any way you do it, this is a cheap, easy and oh so trendy thing to do. No two things will be the same and it's something fun to do alone or with your girlfriends. I personally plan to ask my lady friends to come over one night for a dip dying party. I love the term DIY and this is a great one!

It's been a while since I've posted on my blog. It's been a pretty busy summer. I just moved in to a new place over the weekend. And... I love it!! I can't wait to get busy on new projects and get back to posting here regularly. My blog is a place for me to come and write anything, share and save ideas, post photos, etc... I love you, Alabama!

I write today with a heavy heart. My "sweet home" Alabama is in a state of devastation.

I awoke yesterday to heavy winds that scared me to my core. Little did I know that was the tip of the iceberg. As I drove to work, I had an uneasy feeling. I arrived in Chelsea to dead still traffic where I waited for four hours on my normal route of Hwy 280. I finally turned around.

All the radio stations told us all to be careful and prepare for a nasty day of weather. I don't know that anyone could have prepared for what came next. By five o'clock, there was a tornado, almost a mile wide, hitting my college town of Tuscaloosa, AL... the town in which I spent five years of my life. I began to frantically call and text my friends who still live there. They were all alive. But, several lost their homes. The tornado went on to devastate areas all over our state. I've heard reports of 66 tornadoes in our state yesterday. Over 200 people are dead. 400,000 are still without power. 1000s are left with nothing but the clothes on their back. My heart is broken for my beautiful state and its residents. I couldn't tear my eyes from my t.v. last night. I've cried off and on all day as I listen to reports and see the devastation with my own eyes.

Over the past few years the natural disasters around the world have hurt my heart. But, I must say that when it hits home, its an indescribable feeling. The road to recovery will be long. But, in time of need, the people of Alabama unite. We will do that again. We will rebuild. Alabama will be "the beautiful" again. Please, if u are able, send donations or volunteer your time. Every little bit counts. Alabama, I love you!

Outfit: blouse- Anthropologie; skinnies- BDG; platforms- Charlotte Russe; socks and specks- UO This is what I wore Monday. Easy, breezy and kinda funky w/ socks and specs. I love this shirt. The dainty ruffles on the shoulders are such a girly touch to the already girly pink and white stripes. I love the new trend of wearing socks w/ platforms too. I've gone w/ it in full force. My favorite way to wear them is with a cute lil' dress or skirt. That best shows off the dainty socks... and the higher the platform, the better for me. Just throwin' that lil tidbit out there. These come in at about 5 inches.

It's amazing how well I can walk in them these days too. It's been a pretty low key week so far. I've got some music to see this weekend though. Can't wait for that! Further is gonna take me further ;)

The Trench Coat Dress. Fantastic.

I bought this dress a few months ago while it was still freezing out and put it away. I'd seen it on the Anthropologie website but, let it slip my mind afterwards. Elise and I were shopping late one night when I stumbled back across it. It was still amazing and was now on sale. Score. I have so many different ideas for this dress. I think I'll probably wear it as a sleeveless trench over other things more than as a dress. But, it is absolutely fabulous as a dress. I got compliments all day the day I wore it. That day I paired it w/ a brown woven belt, dainty socks and stacked platforms. The end product was trendy but so classic. LOVE.

Outfit posts... I broke my small camera. So, I've been slacking big time on outfit posts. I don't like lugging my Nikon around w/ me. Though it's such a great camera. I'm planning on buying a new pocket size digital this weekend. So, I'm hoping to get back on a semi-schedule w/ outfit posts soon. In saying that, my blog has shifted as of late. Lots more inspiration posts. I like that. So, I plan to do a mix of both from now on.

Thank you so much to my loyal friends and followers. Blogging is fun. But, it's even more fun when you have great friends who encourage you. Those who know me know that I LOVE fashion.
