LIVE CONCERTS and MOTION PICTURES:

One of the BEST days of my year was December 18, 2015: I woke up early to see the 5am showing of STAR WARS VII: The Force Awakens in 3D, and saw MUSE Live later that same evening!

As a 'STAR WARS fan', I was incredibly happy with the collaborative result of George Lucas + DISNEY + JJ Abrams and the BAD ROBOT team! They modernized the STAR WARS films while remaining true to the original films' characters, inside jokes, and storyline. It was a great decision tapping writer Lawrence Kasdan (THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK, RETURN OF THE JEDI) to write for the newest episode of the STAR WARS family!

After a nap and laying out in the sun, it was time to go see one of my favorite bands live in concert. VIP passes to see MUSE Live at Staples Center in Downtown Los Angeles was worth every penny! The musical performance, lighting, staging, and FX was incredible. Bottom line... DRONES TOUR... Totally worth it if you're looking for an EPIC Live Show!

I had the pleasure of meeting Lindsey Buckingham (singer/songwriter/guitarist), Stevie Nicks (singer/songwriter) and Mick Fleetwood (drummer) while I was working in the studio with Mark Needham and assisting the mixing of FLEETWOOD MAC’s 2003 album “SAY YOU WILL” (Produced by: Rob Cavallo @ Warner Bros. Music). On top of assisting the Studio Recording and Mixing of the album, I also had a chance to co-write lyrics with Lindsey Buckingham on the song "PEACEKEEPER".

After speaking at ASCAP EXPO in Los Angeles, Songwriter/Guitarist Lindsey Buckingham was kind enough to sign my copies of the band’s vinyl records (self titled and “RUMORS”) outside the Kodak Theatre. They are legends, it was really fun working with them, and it is always fun listening to their music!

Matthew J Doughty (sometimes credited: Matt Doughty, MJD) just released his debut 10-song Instrumental Album titled "Momentum Potential: Instrumental Music for Picture" on iTunes, AmazonMP3, ReverbNation, and more!

Most of the album was written during the fall/winter of 2009, when a popular TV Production Company from Hollywood asked Doughty to write some background music for one of their Reality TV Shows.

"I wrote, produced, and recorded the entire project myself. It took about 3 weeks of isolating myself with my acoustic guitar and a midi keyboard controller to complete the basic tracks", Doughty says. "I've always been inspired by composers such as John Williams, Danny Elfman, and Hans Zimmer, so it was a dream come true to write the music for this project. ProTools M-Powered 8 on my Apple MacBook 13" laptop worked brilliantly, and my AKG K240M headphones help with it's too late to work with the studio monitors up loud." In the end, MJD Published 43 minutes of instrumental background music for TV in February 2010, and this album of original music for working, walking, relaxing, and more.

My name is Matthew J Doughty and this what LIFE IN A DAY on Earth was like for me in the year 2010.

I am a writer - producer - performer and I've been on a spiritual journey thru music for the past 29 years. I'm turning 30 soon, and I am excited about it! This is OUR DECADE! It's Gen X & Gen Y's turn! As I've been reflecting on this Mass Observation Video Project, the questions that I have are:
- What will humankind think about GOD, War, and Organized Religion when future generations watch this video time capsule?
- What is it that we're doing to make the world a better place… to Improve LIFE IN A DAY on Earth for future generations? Now, That's Good Question!

My story is for all of the Musicians - Writers and Tech's out there. (Yes, in 2010 we "still" use CDs - BluRay is the best they could come up with after DVD? We still wonder what will take over mp3? ProTools? Apple MacBook computers?)

My story is for all of the Lovers of Love out there! Take strength in your Passions!

PERFORMING AT MERCY MINISTRIES HOME IN LINCOLN, CA

This week, I am performing music and leading worship at the Mercy Ministries Home in Lincoln, CA for private sessions hosted by Nancy Alcorn and two Special Guest Speakers. Since 1983, this fine organization has "provided Hope and Healing to generations of desperate Young Women who are seeking Freedom from life-controlling problems such as: Addictions, Depression, Eating Disorders, Physical and Sexual Abuse, Unplanned Pregnancy, and Self Harm". If you haven't heard of Mercy Ministries before, check out www.MercyMinistries.org for more info on how to help support their important cause.

Last Fall, I was invited to the Grand Opening of the brand new Mercy Ministries Home in Lincoln, CA. Nancy Alcorn came from Nashville, TN and gave an incredibly moving speech before cutting the ribbon and making Northern California the newest site of a "Mercy House": a refuge where young women from all backgrounds can remove themselves from the darkness of abusive situations and make a 9 month journey back to Health, Wellness, and a Life full of Light and Color. To be able to support Mercy Ministries, and to sing with the angelic choir that are "The Mercy Girls", has been one of the most unexpected blessings in my life thus far. For the first time, I understand the Beauty… the Purpose, the Magic of a Flower… a Woman.

Yes, I've witnessed the positive impact that Mercy Ministries is having in Real People's lives on a weekly basis. In December, I attended the very first Mercy House - Lincoln "graduation". Since then, I've been volunteering along with Cindi Benzel and Generations music team from Harvest Time Church ( www.htclincoln.org) to lead a weekly morning worship service for the girls. On most days, I am playing 5-string Electric Bass, singing Backing Vocals, and operating Drum Loops from an Apple MacBook Pro laptop computer. Recently, I started using my Dunlop Mr. Crybaby Wah/Volume Pedal inline to effect and manipulate the loops while I sing and play. Over the past year, I have seen the 9 month Mercy Ministries process bring Hope and Life to hurting people. Lives are being changed every day, and it has been absolutely amazing to see the transformation that occurs!

ERIQ "The Assault" PERRAULT vs. "MR. HANGTOWN"

Yesterday, my dad was trying to find the outcome of an MMA (Mixed Martial Arts... think UFC) Fight that our friend Eriq "The Assault" Perrault fought in Placerville a week earlier. Eriq (Also known as Eric or Erik "The Irish Headache", but who we affectionally call Eriq "The Prodigy") is a Muay Thai fighter from Lincoln, CA (25 miles East of Sacramento, CA). Winning his first professional MMA fight a little more than a month ago, he came into last Saturday's Cage Fight with a 1-0 record.

Dad typed "Eriq Perrault" into Google's Search Engine and out of over 3,190,000 results on the web, he found MY picture next my Tweet from that evening as one of the top results. The reason this cracks me up, is the brilliant simplicity to how Google's WhiteHat SEO techniques reward us for taking the Small Steps! In other words, my website and name came up in a search for "Eriq Perrault" simply because I uploaded a simple, 1 line status update to my custom-linked Myspace / Facebook / Twitter / etc accounts from my iPhone just before the match began. Yes, there is a ton of initial setup work. Yes, creating the Online System for Your Brand can be quite the task to take on... but once you do, it's all about simple and consistent maintenance! In other words, once your Website, Social Networks, Blogs, and iPhone/iPad Apps are in place, all you need to do is Create Compelling Content! Write articles about the things you Love. Link your site to those of your peers and idols, and request the same from them because this will effectively "tie you together" in the internet.

I've been working on computers since I was 8 years old and building websites since I was fourteen. Two years ago, I began studying SEO (Search Engine Optimization) Techniques and Online Social Networking Marketing Strategies. Though it sounds complicated, and can be quite technical in the sense of working with HTML code, it basically boils down to a few simple steps:
1.) First, Sign up for EVERY social network available.
Create an artist page, upload photos/music/videos/blogs/etc, and keep a good record of your paper trail.
2.) Do as your Elementary School Math teacher used to say: "SHOW YOUR WORK".
I like to email a copy of everything I do to a unique email address (such as "Ideas" or "ToDo@(your url).com")
3.) Get your website Linked Up, Looking Professional, and Paying You Money!
You can even setup a Direct Deposit into your bank account ($$$!!!)
4.) Create Compelling Content
Post Photos, Videos, Blogs, Articles, Reviews, Music, and more! Update and promote these within everything you do online.

5.) Google anything you don't yet know how to do.
