When most of us think about Amazon we think about the essentials. Electronic cords, books, kitchen gadgets, supplements. Not so much home decor, but believe it or not Amazon is killing the home goods game. Crazy about this henley top, so it's today's daily find. I've been looking for a simple everyday layering thermal to wear as a transition piece for Autumn and this beauty fits the bill. I especially love the knot tie detailing and button up front. Because of it's weight it's suitable for all seasons depending on how you wear or layer it which makes it even more appealing - I love clothes I can get a lot of wear out of. Are you a fan of pumpkin spice lattes?

Yes it's already that time of year. I'm referring to everything 'pumpkin spice' time of year. This just reiterates to me how quickly this year is passing! Autumn is literally just around the corner and Starbucks iconic Pumpkin Spice Latte debuted extra early this year - August 28th to be exact, which just adds to the feeling that Autumn is just moments away.

I know pumpkin spice isn't everyone's favorite, but I enjoy a cup or ten come Autumn, but over the years I enjoyed them less and less because of the high sugar and fat content. With that said, I discovered a healthier and just as tasty iced version with only 90 calories! Now I don't have to feel guilty (or sick) afterwords (win-win!).

If you're a pumpkin spice lover like me here's what you'll want to order if you're into trying a healthier but just as tasty version of the iconic pumpkin spiced latte.

Ask for:

Grande size iced coffee

No classic syrup

One (1) pump of pumpkin sauce

Three (3) pumps of sugar free vanilla syrup

Extra pumpkin sauce topping

Light cream (half n half)

Make It Yourself: Dishwasher Tabs

Zero-waste, non-toxic, dishwasher tabs and if you have kiddos, invite them to make these little guys with you - they take all of 10 minutes to create. They work well too! Especially if you add white vinegar (2 Tbsp) to the rinse compartment of your dishwasher. Wanna try?

Here’s the super simple recipe:

Ingredients
1 cup washing soda
1 cup baking soda
1/4 cup citric acid
1 cup of kosher salt
1 cup water
5 drops of essential oils (optional)
Distilled white vinegar Directions

Directions
1) Add first four ingredients in a bowl and mix well
2) Add water and enjoy the fizz! Mix ingredients thoroughly
3) Spoon mixture into ice cube trays (or silicone molds)
4) Allow mixture to dry and harden - it takes about an hour (I put it in the freezer, not sure if that helps speed up the process but it seems to)
5) Once dry and hard, remove tabs from mold/tray and store in an airtight container. As with commercial dish tabs, use one per load and add about 2 Tbsp of white vinegar to the rinse cycle to make dishes come out sparkly clean

P.S. Kosher salt helps soften hard water so if that’s not an issue for you, you may be able to skip that ingredient. Worth a try! Less is always more.

Create An Indoor Jungle Without A Green Thumb

My home is filled with plants, large and small, I'm obsessed with them. Plants easily create this lush, effortless cool vibe and transform a space into a cozy outdoorsy inviting place that makes you never want to leave. A friend of mine was over for coffee recently and mentioned that although she LOVED the plants in my house she would never be able to keep plants alive in her home. Because I'm good friends with her, I know she's right. Instead of making her feel bad I reminded her that she doesn't have to be a green thumb to enjoy plants in her home, because there are SO many gorgeous artificial options nowadays. We quickly pulled up Pinterest for inspiration and then started shopping around.

Top 5 Classic Suspenseful Movies For A Night In

When your in nursing school your time is stretched extremely thin and you often feel like you don't have time for anything except to eat, shower and sleep, which is mostly true, but once a week I make it a point to sit down uninterrupted and watch a movie. I'm a HUGE classic movie fan thanks to my Grandpa, so my pick is usually older than me.

I also loveeeee suspenseful movies!

Below are my top 5 classic suspenseful movies for a night in, some I'm sure you've heard of, others maybe not?

I won't go into the lengthy synopsis of each film below so be sure to click photos and links below to read about them.

Alfred Hitchcock is my hands down FAVORITE director. I'm obsessed with and own all of his films. Psycho and Rear Window are two of my favorites of his.

The Bad Seed is a film I discovered with my Mom. We both instantly fell in love with it. It's suspenseful and creepy and just plain rad. If you haven't seen it, I highly recommend you do.

Ahhhh The Burbs. I grew up watching this and it's a classic! It's suspenseful and hilarious, and who doesn't love Tom Hanks?

Lastly Jaws. Total cult classic. Iconic music score. And when you grew up five minutes from a beach in every direction this film really sticks with you! I was lucky enough to see it on the big screen last year and it was unforgettable.

Ways to Keep Your Purse Organized

Keeping my purse organized has been a moving target for me since I started carrying one as a teenager. Receipts, chapstick, keys, wallet, pens...all of it mix up together in a big pile like a tornado ripped through my purse. I consider myself a fairly organized person (I make my bed each morning after I get up, sort mail straight away) but for years my purse was a haphazard mish-mosh. In addition to it looking like a mess, it feels equally frustrating not be able to find what you want or need quickly which in turn wastes time.

So what have I discovered that's helped?

Here are a few ideas of ways to help keep your bag clutter free that have worked for me:

1. Say no to receipts.

Receipts are mostly a huge waste of resources and usually get thrown into a wallet or bag and tossed later on. Unless it's something you may be returning, or a gift receipt, just so no. It's also better for the environment. Win-win!

2. Be choosy

I used to just throw whatever chapsticks, lip glosses, really anything I thought I'd want for the day in my bag. That creates a mess quick. Instead, be choosy and intentional about what you toss in. I choose my favorite chapstick, lip gloss, blush, and mini fragrance and put them in a pouch so when I change bags it's simple to move it from one bag to the other, and also eliminates having four lip glosses rolling around in a mess.

3. Pare down

Paring down was another huge help in getting myself organized. Instead of carrying four pens, a bunch or makeup products and other multiples I chose one of each. One lip product, one pen, one little pad of paper, one chapstick....ONE. It makes a world of difference to just have one, yes your options are limited but it helps keep your bag organized and clean.

4. It's what's inside that matters

A friend gifted me a little pouch with a ton of pockets that fits inside bags to hold all the small miscellaneous stuff and it is brilliant. It has lots of pockets and zippered compartments so I can put everything in it and when I want to switch bags, just transfer the pouch and voila!

5. Quarterly deep clean

Each season I pull out all of my bags, lay them on my bed and dump out any remaining contents and sort and toss. It's amazing what I find in some of them: tea bags, old business cards, $20 (cha-ching!). It's another way to keep organized and take stock of what you have and also check out your bags for flaws, repairs you needs to make, cleaning or deciding your time together has passed and donate them.

Who doesn't love a great doormat? Exactly. Everyone does, and the best ones are the one that make you laugh, smile and think. My current doormat reads, "Beware of the chickens". Since we have a little chicken farm with free range birds. If I didn't have our new doormat I would have one of these. The weather here in the Pacific Northwest has been crispy cold lately so this past weekend I pulled all of my cold weather gear out of my closet. I don't know about you, but I looooooove organizing and sorting through my closet. It helps me take inventory and see what I already have and what pieces I need to buy or replace. Currently I have one nice, no-fail, warm coat for Autumn and Winter, but I'm in desperate need of another!

I own JCrew's Downtown Field Jacket (#1 above) and really love it but it's not the warmest coat - I'd say it's more of an Autumn layering jacket and not really made for Winter. I really love JCrew's Chateau Parka coat (#2) and am thinking that's the winner of the bunch for me - it's gorgeous, comes in TONS of colors and looks like it's really warm. Heck, I really love them all! It's going to be a hard decision, HA :)

In other news.......................Happy (early) Halloween!

I'm so stoked it's the weekend. This week has been full to say the least and I'm more than looking forward to being impressively unproductive and just lounging with my stack of magazines, hot cocoa and pumpkin pie. Yep, I'm that crazy girl who starts making pumpkin pie in October and drinking egg nog as SOON as it's on the shelf. :)

I'm a sucker for all things holiday related. I'm been told I go a little overboard. But who cares? Not me. There are too many other things I could be going overboard with that are far worse, so I call it a win.

CREATING A PRETTY OFFICE SPACE

I shared a little snapshot of my studio office the other day in this post - having a pretty and tidy home office space is important to me. I'm so much more productive when I love the space I'm working in and it's functional as well.

Once in a while you find a piece of clothing you just absolutely LOVE.

This VS PINK Reflective White Hoodie is exactly that.

I've been needing a sweater/hoodie for a while now, and while breezing through the mall (do other people still visit malls too? I feel like it's a dying activity) the other day I found this, tried it on and instantly fell in love with it! It's warm, form fitting and super cozy inside. It also has a hood which I love since I live in the Pacific Northwest and it rains quite a bit.

Honestly this is my first clothing purchase from VS Pink and I'm extremely happy with it. The quality is very good. I'm also really loving this tee, this bralette, and these pants.

They also really have lots of smaller fun stuff that would be perfect stocking stuffers! And not to give you an anxiety attacks but there's 8.....yes you read that right, 8 Fridays until Christmas!

Style At Home: Creating A Pretty Office

Put in a little work in my studio this week, creating blog posts and making bracelets to ship to my jewelry stocklist boutiques. It feels so good to be productive!

I found those fabulous pencils at Target the other day and it took every once of self control to not be that person that buys the WHOLE rack.

I'm big on the idea, that if your work space is pretty, organized and clean, you work better. Period. Of course that's just my opinion from personal experience. I find that if my office is messy I have a hard time keeping focused and staying on task, but if I spend a little time tidying it up I work EXPONENTIALLY better. And come on, who doesn't love a pretty home office space? :)

What about you, do you work better in a clean work space or does it not matter?
