I was reading a post over at electricpig.co.uk by James Holland the other day and he mentioned that an Amazon spokesman told them “we expect to add a Kindle DX family member with international roaming sometime next year.” So it looks like there’s a good chance that sometime soon the Kindle DX will be available internationally. The only question is “how soon?”.

Holland also made another good point about the phrase “Kindle DX family member”. Does this mean that it will be the same Kindle DX that is available in the U.S. or is there a whole new Kindle DX device in the works? We shall find out.

The Kindle 2, at $259, is the lowest that it’s ever been. When the first Kindle came out in November 2007 it cost $399. When I purchased the Kindle 2 earlier this year it cost $359. So, if you’ve been putting off buying a Kindle because of the price, now might be a good time to pick one up. Of course, if you wait, the price could go down even further or you could get a refurbished Kindle 1 or Kindle 2 for a much lower price.

The other day when Lindsey Graham went after me, and accused me of trying to take over the Republican party, I couldn’t help but chuckle. Not only can you now get a Kindle 2 in your country but the price has been lowered to $279from $299.

The international Kindle 2 is the same as the Kindle 2 sold in the U.S. but there is not an extended warranty available for the international version.

You can pre-order your international version of the Kindle 2 now although it won’t be released until October 19, 2009. If you really do want to get the Kindle 2 it would be a good idea to pre-orderit as soon as possible since they are shipped out on a first come, first serve basis and if this release is anything like the previous Kindle releases, it will sell out fast.

Now for the bad news. Even though you can buy the international version of the Kindle in countries such as Comoros and Cambodia, you can not purchase it yet in Canada. I’m not really sure why this is but Amazon says they are working to make the Kindles and Kindle content available for our friends to north also.

There is only a Kindle version (no paperback) and the price is only $.99. I haven’t purchased it so I can’t really give a review on it but the link above also takes you to a page with user reviews. There’s only been 20 reviews so far with an average rating of 3.5 out of 5 stars. From the reviews that I’ve read it seems as though the newer version of the book has been improved so the more recent reviews are more favorable.
