Just glancing around the top-notch Athletic.net and
thought I’d share a few things.
Rose Christen is impressive. The Central Kitsap distance runner has
the 4A’s top time in the 3,200 (fifth overall in the state), second
in the 1,600 (third) and third in the 800 (fifth). Last year, she
medaled in the 800 and 3,200 at state. It’ll be interesting to see
what she does when districts kick off on Friday.
South Kitsap’s 4×400 relay is third in the state and 0.76 seconds
separates first from third. Federal Way, which is second, will face
SK in the district meet this weekend. LaForrest Church, who will
run at Memphis next year, is fifth in the state and second in the
4A (to Central Kitsap’s Michael Thomas) in the 400 and he’s ninth
in the 4A in the 800 (an event he was fifth in state last year).
Adam Gascoyne, who was SK’s top running back, is sixth in the 4A in
the 400.
North Mason’s CJ Allen is top 10 in the 2A in four events: 200,
400, 110 hurdles and 300 hurdles (which is second in the state,
just .07 seconds behind first).
North Kitsap’s Reagan Colyer, who has won three state hurdles
titles, is in the top 10 in the 2A in both hurdle events and the
1,600 (seventh), an event she ran just once this year and broke the
school record in 5:14.02 (she does have three top-five finishes at
the state cross country meet). She also has the second-best time in
the 2A (and fifth overall in the state) in the 400 at (56.91).
