I am all for technology and having the latest gadgets, but sometimes it's just easier to write things down on paper, heat something up in a pan on the stove or sharpen your blades with a leather strop.

Over the years I have realized that whether or not you like a celebrity has really nothing to do with if you'll like their products. Just the other day, a friend walked in and I told her how much I loved her perfume. She whispered that she was wearing Lady Gaga - gasp. I used to rock a Britney perfume and the amount of compliments I got far outweighs many of today's scent heavy-hitters.

HuMn Wallets - Sleek Wallets for Those Who Don't Like Bulk - Or Thieves

It is extremely hard to find wallets that aren't as thick as an encyclopedia (do people even use those anymore?) and that won't bulk up once you get your money, cards and receipts into 'em.

I like to keep things neat and organized as much as I can (please don't look at my desk right now) and that extends to my wallet as well. I want to be able to get a card out quickly, with ease, without having to scrounge around like so many people do, looking through their purse, pockets and wherever else it might be stashed under ten pounds of various items.

The other thing to be aware of these days, is of course, identity theft. You've got to keep your cards close and cover the keypad when entering your password. But is that enough?

The HuMn Wallet does two things - it protects your credit cards and ID's from being scanned (unless you want them to be) and slims everything down to one neat little package.

Cortazzo Sauces - Let Chef Scott Martino Cook For You Tonight

I would looove to spend 6-8 hours every day in the kitchen with pots on the stove, making sauces from scratch (In fact, I'm so bent on cooking that I have a whole menu written for my one-day dream restaurant).

But let's be realistic - I'm a full-time freelance writer with 12 projects currently on the go and I need to make a good, healthy, tasty dinner quickly for my fella and I.

So when I stock my pantry of any kind of pre-made sauce, it's got to be top-notch - as a restaurant critic, it is hard for me to let go of assessing food for it's flavour profiles, texture, and everything I look for when I'm dining out for review.

In other words, I'm a pretty tough customer.

What's most remarkable about these jarred sauces is the amount of flavour packed into 'em, while using only whole, natural ingredients, with no preservatives or trans fats.

N.Y.J.O. New York Joe's Onions - Bringing NYC's Corner Dogs to Your Kitchen

There are some things that you just can't duplicate. I can't make a sausage roll as good as the British shop just north of me, and I've never been able to swing that delicate veal sauce I had at a stone inn in Montreal. And it's often the city specific things like Chicago-style pizza or New York hot dogs, topped with onions that you wish you could recreate at home.

But wait, Joe Cachia, creator of N.Y.J.O - New York Joe's Onions - has made it so you can grill up hot dogs at any time and with the addition of his saucy, slightly smoky, tangy onions, feel like you're at the corner of 55th Street and Madison Avenue at a moment's notice.

I am lucky that being a restaurant critic and food writer means I get to try a lot of wines. I'm no expert, mind you, but I've been able to quickly discern what I like and what I don't. As much as I love the floral scents of women's skincare products, sometimes I crave a cologne that reeks of fir and wood and leather and sweat.

Triumph & Disaster's Shearer's Soap is as manly as it gets and while my fella enjoyed this soap from New Zealand, I was the one reaping the rewards as I couldn't get enough of his manly scent. So while his skin was exfoliated by poppy seeds and softened by glycerin, I was deeply inhaling the exotic scent that smells of books, an old leather coat and being out on the deck at the cottage on a cold morning. It's completely exhilarating and such a fantastic change from my usual orchid, bergamot-scented perfumes.

Which is why it could often be found on my shelf in the shower instead of his.

And then I went and took his Gameface Moisturizer (pictured above) too.

What a bitch.

I couldn't help myself. Though it's made for a man's rough mug, I love how it absorbed straight away and then left my skin feeling soothed, soft and fresh. That's due to all the fabulous natural ingredients used such as jojoba extract, horopito oil, ponga fern and vitamin E. Hmm, you don't see that oil and fern in girl's products, do you? I think T&D are really onto something here. Of course scent came into it again.
