The Lord does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.
I Samuel 16:7

I remember growing up and feeling judged by my classmates. My parents felt that making me wear dresses, and not cut my hair or wear earrings made me holy in some way. Personally I think it made them feel more righteous, but alas they wanted the very best for their daughter and felt that seeing to it that I was dressed according to their convictions was the right thing to do. I remember being teased relentlessly, because all of the other girls wore bell bottoms and smock tops. I wanted to do all the things they were doing and couldn’t because I was in a dress. I wanted others to see me as the girl who loved to jump rope, run races, swim and compete. It seemed that no one could get past my outward packaging, or how I was adorned. That part of my life ended and after I had children, I was judged for their appearances and became frustrated because nobody could see I was doing the best I was able under my circumstances. I felt ostracized within the church because outside of the church I lived with an alcoholic/drug-addict and it seemed my life was lived on the edge of what is right and wrong, and more often than not, life was wrong.
All of the judgement I felt I was under caused me to be both more sympathetic and empathetic to others around me.There were so many times though when I felt inferior. Because of the way church goers acted, I felt that must be how God felt about me as well. Feeling inferior is a horrible feeling, and nobody should ever be made to feel that way, because in God’s eyes he see’s each of us uniquely, and loves us equally regardless of our physical appearance. He see’s our emotions, our desires, our passions, and all the things that keep us putting one foot in front of the other. He doesn’t expect me to be like you, or you to be like me.
God was able to see what nobody else could see. He could see how I relied on him and how I loved him and still do. Then came another who showed me earthly love and what it means to love, and be loved without fear.
I’m going to challenge you today. From now on when you meet someone, look them in the eye. Listen to them and try not to notice how tight their clothes are, how much they weigh, whether or not the color of their hair is real or purchased from a bottle, the cost of their clothing and how clean their shoes are. Give them a genuine heart and see how God blesses that. It’s not the packaging that’s important. It’s your soul.

She created that pretty tree for the enjoyment of the babes she loved.
Giving one last look at its now naked starkness, she bends gracefully picking up her shawl and smiles...
It was so tenderly made in silence.
I feel it is time to pick it back up. We have suffered yet another end of the world scenario because the mayan people were killed in the flood before finishing what is now their famous calendar. Yes, I am talking about the Biblical flood, Noah's ark, and you should know the story if not feel free to ask. It is now Christmas time and it seems everywhere I turn, there is turmoil. No peace anywhere, It is tiresome at times. People are angry with the govt. for taking away their rights, and for just plain old lying to them. So many are tired of abortions, not being allowed to have prayer in the schools, the Bible disrespected, and nobody seems to know it at all anymore. Things have become sad. A week ago 20 children were killed in a school in CT and 6 teachers by a suicidal young man with no purpose or guidance in his life. He did not respect his own life, he could not expect anyone to believe that he respected any other life, even if it was a child's. Just so much I see going on. Prophecy being fulfilled and my dreams from many years ago.
I will talk more about this, but right now it is Christmas. So Tomorrow we will talk about that.
Hello everyone again. All my prayers go out to anyone who reads this or any other of my posts.
sorts that I cant stand. But, even though slightly comical or bitter in some cases, this seemed like such a good list of symptom descriptions to offer friends or family a visual or better physical understanding of what those with Multiple Sclerosis mean when they try to describe a discomfort. I have always had a hard time trying to convey what I'm feeling when my friends or family ask me what I'm feeling.

I dont know anyone with MS that has ALL of these symptoms as the author suggests, but i thought it was a great tool to better understand or communicate a few of the symptoms.

Im printing this out to share with my family or friends when i cant find the words to answer "How does it feel."

My best to you and yours,
Sasa

How us with MS Feel......

When We Say We Can't do Something Because We don't Feel Well,
Put yourself in Our Shoes By Using The Examples of our Symptoms Below...

- Painful Heavy Legs: Apply Tightly 20 LB ankle weights and 15 LB thigh weights then take a 1 mile walk, clean the house, go shopping and then sit down - how ya' feeling now?

- Painful Feet: Put equal or unequal amounts of small pebbles in each shoe then take a walk, if we are mad at you we would prefer needles to pebbles.

- Loss of Feeling in Hands and/or Arms: Put on extra thick gloves and a heavy coat then try and pick up a pencil, if successful stab yourself in the arm.

- Loss of Feeling in Feet and/or Legs: Ask a doc for a shot of Novocaine in both of your legs and then try and stand up and walk without looking like the town drunk. Please do not compare MS fatigue to you being tired from only a few hours of sleep - it's not the
same at all.

- Cognitive Function (Brain Fog): Take a liberal dose of sleeping pills but stay awake. When you come back from shopping again they take the list and
erase three things and ask why you bought those things.

- Foot Drop: Wear one swim fin and take about a 1/2 mile walk, nothing else needs to be said for this one, you'll get it.

- Depression: Take a trip to the animal shelter everyday and see all the lonely animals with no home. It's 35° outside and 65° inside. Light a fire for the fireplace and then get into it. Once you have reached about 110° tell me how you feel, even a person
without MS would feel bad, now add all of the above term="UFO's"/>
UFO's, Sin, and a really good book

As I told you before this blog is not just about knitting or poetry...it's about a knitted UFO (unfinished object). I am going to call this God's unfinished object. I notice that I have readers on this blog, yet no commenters...which is ok. I'm going to talk a little about myself today.
The Bible says we come into this world as sinners. Hard to believe. Tiny little bundles of joy...sinners? Soon that bundle of joy will learn to say no, when told not to do something that could be harmful to them, it will learn to lie, say mean things, hurt other people, and when they enter school...well, if you have children you already know. By the time they become teenagers and think they have the world in the palm of thier hand, parents are idiots, and of course God must have blessed them with some sort of special intelligence....and yes they rebel against all the things that remind them of thier parents, many times including God.
So are we all sinners? If you've ever lied, stolen something, used Gods name in vain, maybe you desire to have something a friend or an enemy of your's has, maybe you idolize money or jewelry, or cars, land, whatever the case may be. Possibly in your heart you have truely had horrible thoughts toward someone else, or lustful thoughts. At any rate any of these things make you a sinner. The Bible says so. Check out the 10 commandments. The very laws our government was based on.
Ok I'm not trying to preach to anyone here, I just want everyone to understand. I'm a sinner. Everyday I come to the Lord asking for his forgiveness. Not because he hasn't forgiven what I've already asked him to forgive...I just have a tendency to screw up a lot. Here's the thing. The Bible says that when we ask for forgiveness God throws our sins into the deepest sea, and as far as the east is from the west. You may question how far is the east from the west? It's as far as two outstretched nailscarred hands.
God gave his son to die for you and me. Now being a parent, That just boggles my mind! You see God has always wanted a relationship with us (humans) people that he created. Sin seperated us from him. It took God Sacrificing His only (ONLY) son, so that he could once again have a relationship with His own creation...you, me, and everyone else you know and don't know. When Jesus died, and then rose from the dead on the third day...the battle was one! All we have to do, is make the CHOICE to ask Jesus for forgiveness. In turn Jesus is our advocate...ie; our attorney. He goes to his father...God and represents you and me. Jesus tells God, how you/I have come with a broken spirit and a contrite heart, wanting and needing forgiveness. Jesus talks about how he shed his blood for you and me, and that we are forgiven. God picks up the gavel it falls with a bang, and our names are written in the lambs book of life.
Romans 3:23 "For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God"
Ask for forgiveness today. He loves you. Who else do you know that woud die for you the way Jesus did?
Pick up a Bible and read it. I promise that none of this is painful.
I pray that God will touch the hearts of all who read today.

REFLECTIONS OF A MOM......AND MORE!: My summer of grief and loss

REFLECTIONS OF A MOM......AND MORE!: My summer of grief and loss

When the going gets tough...Pray.

Wow! I have had so many emotionally draining days recently... I have found myself on my knees talking to the only one I know can fix all... several timesas of late. I had a dream once, not very long ago. I dreamed that someone I loved was standing on the edge of a rapidly flooding river. The edge broke off and this person fell into the tumultuous waters, crying for help. I ran to the edge, ready to dive in and save this person. The waters carried all kinds of debri, even cars, portions of homes. I dropped to my knees and cried out to God, Praying with all my heart and soul. I woke up, got out of the bed, got on my knees and began to pray. God let me know through that dream that I couldn't save anyone. Only he could, but I would have to pray. That was what was/is required of me.
My father has cancer. It has now become bone cancer. In the last week he has been in the hospital 3 times. Once for a blood transfusion. We share the same birthday...and on November the 27th we will have shared 42 of them together.
I can remember my father preaching about faith when I was a little girl. Hebrews 11:1-2 "Faith is the substance of things hoped for the evidence of things not seen. For by it the elders have obtained a good report." Matthew 17:20-21 "...Because you have so little faith. I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you." I do know that this kind of mustard seed faith only comes about through prayer.
I will leave you with this today. So many things in our lives need prayer. Our personal walk with the Lord, our families, our communities, our Nation. Pray for a world that cries peace peace, and everywhere there is war. I implore you to stand in the gap and pray. Just Pray. "The prayers of a righteous man availeth much."

Dipped in Hell

This is what it is
To be
Dipped
in Hell
Death rings its toll…
Tossed on waves
Without control
Thrown up on shore
Like nothing more…
Than discarded
Crumpled
Paper
Eyes that blankly stare
With nothing there…
Yet a heart still beats
Beneath the looks
Of
A corpse complete
The flames do burn
With consuming worms
Screams and cries
From
Deep inside
Thrown up on shore
Like nothing more…
Than discarded
Crumpled
Paper
Eyes that blankly stare
With nothing there…
This is what it is
To be
Dipped in
Hell

Sasa Smith

©2007

Dream On

Dream On...
Do you ever wish you had more cash to spend on yarn? I myself dream of winning the lottery, or miraculously finding a billion $$ hidden in the walls of my house or burried in the back yard. Hey! Everyone has to dream! For now I soothe my self knowing that I could slip into a coma at any time, and live in a dream world where every thing is made of yarn. The sky, the trees, everything! I would have all the yarn I need at my fingertips. Ahhh... All of my knitting friends on the web could be there, and we'd all live happily ever-after. Don't come apart on me now! You know I love you all!
Does anyone ever pay attention to politcs at all? Notice how all of our presidents are completely white headed at the end of their terms? Personally I think all presidents should be required to take up knitting upon becoming president. That's right, rub the ear-lobes and knit. They would relieve stress, and who knows we might end up with a pres. who is not completely white headed when they leave office.
I get tired of the whole Democrat/Republican thing. I believe we should all become Republicrats. I can see Chelsea Clinton marrying a Bush and my dream for a perfect world coming true. Yes, we could all live in a Pro-life, environmentally safe world. Everyone has medical insurance, and the country gets out of debt. The people make tons of money, which means we can all buy(drum roll), YARN!
It could be a perfect world!

© 2006

One Fractured Mind

<img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5096774770337516306" The look, The feel, the smell of yarn. Needles clicking... My drug of choice!Of couse no-one can understand, unless they are an addicted knitter themselves. Yes! I spend my days tying knots in string! Who knew one could be so easily amused.Twas just a little girl when I learned at G-Ma's knee.Diagnosed at 35 with an annoying, to say the least, disease called Multiple Sclerosis. With my first major excacerbation I lost a ton of memory. The ability to knit included. I tried and tried to re-conquer this thing called knitting, without much success. Now, from looking at pictures from my child-hood I know that G-Ma taught me using the english method. I was about to give up, when one night I had an amazing dream! I dreamed I was knitting! It seemed to be backwards and some how wrong, but when I awoke, I grabbed my yarn and needles, and started knitting in this upside-down backward method I had dreamt about. I now know that it is the continental method of knitting. Yes my "Beautiful Mind" figured it out. In the Last 8 mos. I have managed 4 scarves, 3 hats, a purse, 1 pair of fingerless gloves 2 sweaters a blanket, and a pillow. Whew! It was fun, and the list continues to grow. I will let this be my intro for now, and I will see you soon...In the Blog zone...
12:57 PM - 2 Comments - 4 Kudos - Add Comment - Edit - Remove

Sasa The Knitting Poet's Intro...

This is jus a little intro into the world of everything Sasa.

Yes I love to knit, but this blog is about more than just

knitting.
