But I wanted to entice you a little bit and provide you with some of the highlights of the interview.

First off, Jenkins has a new blog. Check it out here. Add it to your favorites. He told me personally that he updates it often. He is also on Twitter.

Did you know that Jenkins had no idea the Cowboys were interested in him. He said he never spoke to anyone with the organization before he was drafted in the first round last year. I find it odd because Jenkins said he had to learn an entirely new defense.

Jenkins thought he was going to be drafted by the Saint or Patriots.

In the interview, he talks about the Terrell Owens situation.

On his own blog, Jenkins says he is going to be the starting right cornerback, but with me he admitted that he still has a lot to learn about the Cowboys defensive schemes and he’s working hard to improve. Even his own blog is titled “Far from my Peak.”

Michael Jackson, the King of Pop, left us this week. His unexpected death shocked the world, and shook the music industry. He was 50. He leaves behind a monkey, an amusement park, four brothers, three sisters and a silver diamond-studded glove.

Somehow, I’ve tied his songs to some problems with the Dallas Cowboys:

“Beat It”

Terrell Owens was released. He graciously accepted a 1-year deal with the Buffalo Bills in the freezing hell of western New York. There seemed to be a bunch of white guys on the Cowboys who were tired of Owens’ locker room antics. Owens has often been accused of being a locker room cancer. But the Cowboys weren’t winning. He’ll make everything bad when you’re losing.

“Thriller”

Felix Jones, even with his shortened rookie season, is certainly a thriller on the field. Having him an entire season is going to add a lot of power on the Cowboys offense. Plus, his ability to return punts is huge. The Cowboys desperately need a special teams threat.

“Bad”

The Washington Redskins. Sorry, I didn’t mean to take a detour, but I just love how Daniel Snyder is forcing the fans to endure Jason Campbell as their quarterback for another year. It’s been four years already, hasn’t it? They are just bad.

“Wanna Be Startin’ Somethin’”

The Dallas Cowboys do. They need to wina playoff game, something that’s eluded the team for almost two decades. The Cowboys have to make and win in the playoggs. They wanna be startin’ somethin’

“Smooth Criminal”

Well now that Adam “Pacman” Jones is out of town, and was never a smooth criminal anyway, the Cowboys Anthony Spencer was pretty smooth this offseason. Well, not really. He tried to pay a bar to stay open longer, and when they refused, he started throwing punches at the bouncers. Genuis.

“Man In The Mirror”

Hi Tony Romo. Meet Tony Romo. If there is one player on the Dallas Cowboys who needs to look in the mirror and see who he really is, that person has to be Romo. He’s a good quarterback. He takes risks. But he has lacked leadership, and he’ll have to find it by staring in the mirror all season long. For the Cowboys to win, Romo needs to play well.

Cowboys owner/GM Jerry Jones has again come out and defended his release of wide receiver Terrell Owens.

In an article from Yahoo sports, Jones also drops a hint a new direction that the Cowboys’ offense might take this season.

Jones told the Dallas Morning News: “Frankly, the most basic reason that I changed my mind regarding Terrell Owens was the ability to maximize the potential of Roy Williams, Miles Austin, Sam Hurd, the running backs and our tight ends. That was the most fundamental thing.

“We wanted to take advantage of where we are with the talent we have on offense. You shouldn’t have Terrell unless he’s a dominant part of your offense or you’re trying to put him in that kind of role in your offense.

“If for any reason you want to come off of that and spread it around or use different parts of your offense, then you shouldn’t have him because that’s not the best use of having Terrell Owens on your team.”

Look at that second paragraph.

Where are the Cowboys most talented on offense right now?

Our backfield is loaded with talent. Between Marion Barber, Felix Jones and Tashard Choice, the Dallas backfield is as strong as any.

While I’m still a big supporter of Owens, he did demand the ball a lot. I do want a receiver who wants a ball, but not at the cost of sacrificing our running game.

Look for the Cowboys to transition into a power running team. As far as the passing game goes, expect tight end Jason Witten to take an even larger role and Martellus Bennett to cause more problems for opposing defenses.

As far as our receivers go, don’t expect Williams to match Owens’ production, but he still should get decent looks.

Another note: take a look at the receivers Jones mention. Anybody missing from that group?

Brace yourselves.

Cowboys wide receiver Patrick Crayton is apparently looking a little faster after this offseason.

This comes from an article in the Dallas Morning News.

It’s not just the press throwing this news out there. Even Jason Witten thinks Crayton is looking quicker.

“He looks faster, more explosive,” tight end Jason Witten said.

Crayton has been training at the Michael Johnson Performance Center in McKinney, Texas with former strength and conditioning assistant Lance Walker, who echoed Witten’s sentiments.

“He’s figuring out, ‘You know what? I need to start looking for some ways to continue to separate myself,’ ” Walker said. “That’s part of his game. How can he be more efficient? He’s not a 4.2 40 guy, but that’s not his deal. He wants to learn the tricks to help with acceleration.”

It’s encouraging to hear any good news about Cowboys receivers, after Roy Williams has been questioned, possible second receiver candidate Miles Austin has been hurt and Terrell Owens is gone.

Old brick hands Crayton is even looking to reverse his pass dropping ways.

“I’m trying not to put any on the ground this year,” Crayton said.

Is this the year that Crayton lives up to his contract?

I’ll believe it when I see it.

Crayton has been [...]

Ease up on Roy Williams, ESPN

Written by theMBIIIeffect

Monday was a strange day for me.

I was watching First and Ten on ESPN2 where Skip Bayless was debating the aptly named duo, 2 Live Stews.

That wasn’t the strange part.

The strange part was that I caught myself agreeing with Skip Bayless.

Bayless and I agreed on the latest overhyped practice camp story out of Dallas, namely that Roy Williams mentioned wanting the ball to Tony Romo after Romo missed an open Williams in practice. The video is here, with the comments in question coming around the 58 second mark.

While the 2 Live Stews and others were quick to compare Williams to former Cowboys receiver Terrell Owens for his public criticism of Romo, Bayless decided to give Williams a free pass on these comments.

If you look at Williams’ comments, it’s easy to see those parallels to Owens, but, as I said, I’m with Skip on this one. A reporter asked him about practice, and Williams simply responded honestly: Williams runs uncovered across the middle of the field, Romo doesn’t deliver the ball, Williams lets Romo know about it. The end.

Also, listen to Williams during the interview. When Owens used to complain about his quarterbacks to the media, there was a degree of blame there. In the interview, Williams says “That’s our job. That’s what we’re supposed to do.” He’s exactly right. He and Romo are still trying to get on the same page, and that’s what training camp is for. I’d be more worried if something like this didn’t happen.

Michael Irvin used to lay into Troy Aikman regularly during practice. I’m sure Terrell Owens let Drew Bledsoe and Tony Romo hear it every now and then. Why should Roy Williams do anything but the same?
