Introducing the Michel Gitano

If you're a true Pinoy Petrolhead, you will definitely appreciate and celebrate today's event - the launch of Michel Motors' Gitano. Not only is this this Michel's first foray into designing and building its own cars (Michel is perhaps the foremost kit car maker in the Philippines), it is most likely the most ambitious attempt at building a Philippine-made sports car. It also has the distinction of being the first ever Philippine-made hybrid sports car.

Continuing the work of Michel Motors' founder Nene Syquia, Jan Kierulf and Reggie Sy, with designer Christopher Lacson, set out to create something unique. Using a lightweight fiberglass body penned by Chris Lacson, and a next generation American designed and built hybrid powerplant, it will definitely have sporting character. The lightweight electric motor weighs just over 100kg, and puts out about 250bhp.

The car is still an unfinished prototype, and has several details that have yet to be unveiled, but it is very close to a working, running vehicle. It sets off this Wednesday for Las Vegas, USA, to be part of the world-famous SEMA show.

It's not everyday you get to be part of something not just exciting, but groundbreaking. And it's been my pleasure to have been part of this project (through Glasteck, Inc., who created the custom glass panels for the entire car). Here's to the success of the Gitano, and the Philippine automotive industry!

Transformers 3 Cars List. Paramount and DreamWorks have officially announced that Transformers Dark of the Moon or Transformers 3 will be released on July 1, 2011 in the US. Transformers Dark of the Moon or Transformers 3 is the third film in the Transformers film series, directed by Michael Bay and produced by Steven Spielberg. It is the sequel to Transformers and Transformers Revenge of the Fallen. Transformers Dark of the Moon will be presented in regular 2D, Real D 3D and IMAX, featuring Dolby Surround 7.1 sound.

Shia LaBeouf, Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson and John Turturro are set to reprise their starring roles, with Peter Cullen returning as the voice of Optimus Prime. Ehren Kruger, who collaborated in the writing of the second film, was again involved in the writing. Despite having initially been confirmed for the film, and with the film already into principal photography, it was announced that Megan Fox would not be reprising her role from the previous two films. With Fox’s character Mikaela being dropped, Sam was assigned a new love interest, who will be played by English model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley. Also, Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman, having written the first two films, did not return for the third installment in the series, which Orci had earlier somewhat anticipated, fearing the duo would “risk getting stale”. Bay has stated this would be his last installment in the series.

LG Optimus 2X: the first dual-core smartphone

LG Electronics has unveiled the LG Optimus 2X, the world's first smartphone with a dual-core processor. The LG Optimus 2X will be available in Korea next month with countries in Europe and Asia to follow. The phone will initially be released with Android 2.2 (codenamed Froyo) and will be upgradeable to Android 2.3 (codenamed Gingerbread). The upgrade schedule to Gingerbread has yet to be announced.

Nokia unveils its first Linux phone

HELSINKI (Reuters) - The world's largest handset maker, Nokia unveiled on Thursday its first phone running on Linux software, aiming at improving its offering at the top end of the market.

The focus of cell phone business has shifted to services and software following Apple and Google's entrances to the market in the last two years.

Nokia also unveiled a new Solutions business unit, which aims to better tie together its phone operations and new mobile Internet services offering.

The Finnish firm has been looking for business opportunities from offering services like music downloads or games to cell phone users as the handset market itself is maturing, but so far its offerings have gained limited traction.

"As Nokia announces the software platform that will drive its future services aspirations it created a dedicated solutions unit -- the challenge will be to ensure that all these elements work in harmony in the face of fierce competition from Apple and Google," said Ben Wood, head of research at CCS Insight.

Nokia has kept its overall market share stable, close to 40 percent, but it has lost share among more expensive models to the likes of Apple.

High-end products are important for Nokia because the company has not only lost market share there but its average selling prices have declined faster than the industry average.

Goldman Sachs expects Nokia's value share (a measure reflecting average prices as well as underlying market share) for phones costing more than $350 to decline to 13 percent this year from 33 percent just two years before.

THE LINUX BET

Analysts see Linux as a key for Nokia to gain back ground in the coming years.

The Finnish firm has dabbled with Linux since 2005, using it in "Internet tablets" -- sleek phone-like devices used to access the Web that have failed to gain mass-market appeal in part due to their lack of a cellular radio.

The new N900 model, with cellular connection, touch screen and slide-out keyboard, will retail for around 500 euros ($712), excluding subsidies and taxes.

Nokia's workhorse Symbian operating system controls half of the smartphone market volume -- more than its rivals Apple, Research in Motion and Google put together.

Nokia said Linux would work well in parallel with Symbian in its high-end product range.

"This is in no way putting Symbian in jeopardy," Anssi Vanjoki, head of sales at Nokia, told Reuters.

"Open source Symbian is going to be our main platform, and we are expanding and growing it the best we can, both in terms of functionality as well as distribution ... populating more and more of our product line with Symbian," he said.

The new model will use ARM's Cortex-A8 processor.

Here it is: the all-new star of the upcoming major motion picture, Gymkhana THREE. Revealed last night by DC, Ford and Monster Energy at Taverna Aventine in San Francisco, the GYM3 Ford Fiesta is Ken Block’s latest purpose built Gymkhana racer/toy.

Although sharing some genetics with the Rally America Ford Fiesta, these two cars are far from twins. The most obvious differences can be found in the fascia, comprised of an aggressive front bumper with a low-slung, road-hugging splitter, boxier fenders and a vented hood. But the biggest changes can be measured in ponies, 650 of them to be exact—the 2.0l Duratec engine is actually capable of producing north of 850hp but is restricted to create a more usable powerband. The suspension is also quite different, designed to actually break traction. “The set-up on the Gymkhana Fiesta is crucial,” says Ken Block. “The goal is to create a vehicle intended for tarmac that drives as if it was on gravel. Plus, having explosive power and a trusty handbrake goes a long way too.” And to help all of you tell the two cars apart, we even changed up the livery a bit, introducing the newer, bigger, and some may say better, drip pattern.

Remember the BMW M1from the late 70's and early 80's? Sure, we all do — how could someone forget the only BMW mid-engined homologated racer? Well, for you fans of that MotorWorken hotness, we've got an exciting bit of news out of the Concorso d'Eleganza at Villa d'Este, an Italian gathering hosting precious metal from all over the world. The Germans suprised everyone by bringing a piece of racing hotness hearkening back to those halcyon days of the late 70's — kind of a thirtieth anniversary present to lovers of the old M1. It's called the BMW M1 Homage concept, a modern-day interpretation of the mid-engined Bavarian exotic. So is this flame-surfaced M1 successor a future classic? Well, it's hard to say.

Mmm — M1!

As of now, the M1 Homage is strictly a design exercise. We haven't seen shots of the interior, the mechanical bits, or of the vehicle in motion, so it may very well be no more than a hot body. The styling is directly influenced from not only the original M1, but also from that car's inspiration, the BMW Turbo Concept. So if history is to repeat itself, perhaps this Homage is a predecessor to a toned-down limited-production version, but don't hold your breath. There have been optimistic rumors of a BMW return to the mid-engined supercar game, and this would certainly be a bold first step. Manny Pacquiao wants to be remembered plainly as "Manny Pacquiao" when he retires after his November 13 bout this year.

The seven world division champion has signified his intentions of hanging up his gloves whether or not he faces the undefeated and thrash-talking Floyd Mayweather Jr. in November.

"I don’t want to retire as a washed-up boxer. At the back of my mind, I've already contemplated on retirement as early as last year," said Pacquiao. "I don’t want to retire from the sport at a time when I'm feeling pains on my body."

Perhaps, "Mommy D." knows best that there's no better fight available left for his son than to mix it up with Mayweather Jr., whose mouth is as fast as his fist when he demolished "Sugar" Shane Mosley recently.

"My mom doesn't want me to fight anymore. But I convinced her, to give me one last fight. US comedian/DJ apologizes through Twitter

After making harsh comments about Philippine boxing champ Manny Pacquiao and the boxer's home country last April 1, Adam Carolla has apologized to the Filipino people through Twitter.

"Read your comments. Sorry if I offended many of you. I don't pre-plan my commentary. I try to be provocative, (and) funny but I crossed the line & I'm sorry."

After the tweet, Carolla praised Pacquiao on another tweet entry, saying, "By the way, I think Manny is a great fighter."

Filipinos expressed outrage at Carolla's statements against the champion. The Italian-American DJ who hosts "The Adam Carolla Podcast Show", called Pacquiao among other things, "illiterate" and someone who "prays to chicken bones."

The comments were made after a caller on the podcast asked what Carolla's reaction was to Pacquiao's refusal to Floyd Mayweather Jr.'s call for a drug test.

"All you...got is just an illiterate guy who won't give up blood who happens to smash other guys in the head better than other people? That's all you have as the Philippines? Oh they are so proud of their native son. They think the world of him. When he comes home, he comes home to a hero's parade. He's gonna run for congress in the Philippines and win handily. "

Carolla continued his tirade, this time making hateful comments towards the Philippines and Filipinos.

"Really, you want some guy with brain damage running your country? Why don't you get your **** together?...Get your **** together Philippines. Jesus Christ. I mean, again, it's fine to be proud of your countryman but that's it, that's all they got? What happens when he loses, what happens when Floyd Mayweather beats him? Then what? The whole country goes into depression? Jesus you got nothing going."

Filipino-Americans then organized an online petition to demand a public apology from Carolla. The petition said Carolla's comments were "unnecessary, hurtful, and erroneous." The petitioners further stated that Carolla failed to recognize that Filipinos and Filipino-Americans have significantly contributed to the betterment of the United States and the world.

"We have worked hard to achieve our American Dream, and you have no right to denigrate us like this, merely to get attention."

As of this post, there are 947 signatories supporting the petition, which also declared a boycott of Carolla's program. Reaction to the statements have also appeared on Facebook. Fan account "Filipinos unite against Adam Corolla" have drawn in the most Facebook members at 850.

The petitioners have not made any statement yet on the apology on Twitter as of press time.

Carolla is no stranger to facing criticism. In January 2006, Carolla called the work of Asian Americans a "joke," eliciting the ire of the Asian American Justice Center, while in 2003 he called Hawaiians the "world's dumbest people".

Adam Carolla is a popular figure in the word of stand-up comedy in the United States and was a contestant on the reality-television show "Dancing With The Stars." He was the longtime comedy partner of Jimmy Kimmel who, ironically, has had Pacquiao as a guest on his talk show, "The Jimmy Kimmel Show" twice.

Manny Pacquiao may be the people’s hero when it comes to boxing, but he is the complete opposite when it comes to his political ambitions. Running for a congressional seat in Sarangani is not just another ring match for Pacquiao but a dream waiting to be fulfilled.

“Pangarap ko talagang makatulong sa mga tao. Parang sa boxing din, nangarap akong maging world champion. So ginawa ko ang lahat para maging champion. Natupad ko ito. Ngayon naman, gusto kong tuparin ang pangarap kong makatulong sa mga tao. [It’s really my dream to help the people. In boxing, I aspired to be a world champion. I gave my all to achieve that dream. Now, I want to fulfill my other to dream of helping people.], ” said Pacquiao in an interview with Yahoo! Southeast Asia.

When asked why he chose to enter politics when he could just as easily help people through foundations and charities, Pacquiao replied, “Alam mo marami din naman akong foundations pero hindi iyon enough para makatulong sa mga tao [I also have foundations but those weren’t enough to help the people].”

Boxing is an option Pacquiao may not return to should he be less than victorious in politics.

“Kung hindi man ako palarin, hindi ko iniisip ang boxing. Hindi ko inuugnay ang boxing at pulitika. Ayokong i-connect ‘yung dalawa dahil ang boxing karangalan ‘yun para sa ating lahat na mga Pilipino. ‘Yung politics naman ay paglilingkod sa bayan [If I lose, I’m not thinking of boxing. I don’t want to relate boxing and politics because they are different from each other. Boxing has given us Filipinos glory while joining politics is serving our country],” said Pacquiao.

Even with the 700,000 pay-per-view buys from his fight against Ghanian boxer Joshua Clottey and after earning an estimated $35.3 million in revenues, Pacquiao admitted that he is ready to retire from boxing.

“Okay na rin ako magretire. Sabi kasi ng mama ko, wag mo intayin na magkaroon ka ng karamdaman bago ka magretiro. Kung kailangan lumuhod daw sya sa harap ko para huminto ako sa boxing, gagawin daw nya. [I’m okay with the prospect of retirement. My mother told me that I should not wait for an illness to retire. She told me that she would beg on her knees for me to stop boxing if she needed to.],” shared Pacquiao.

Ford Introduces New Taurus-based Police Car

The next time you’re pulled over for speeding, you might be surprised by what you see in the rearview. Ford recently unveiled its replacement for the Crown-Victoria-based Police Interceptor -- and it’s a Taurus.

“Ford first introduced its police package in 1950 and today the Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor is the industry leader,” explains Jalopnik. “The automaker's dominated the streets to the point that over the last five years, Ford's controlled more than 70% of the patrol cars sold. … Unfortunately, the Crown Vic's Panther-platform's getting a little long in the tooth — it hasn't seen a redesign in over 15 years.”

So out goes the Crown Vic and in comes the Taurus. “To develop the all-new Police Interceptor, Ford engineers worked hand-in-hand with Ford’s Police Advisory Board of law enforcement professionals, which provided input on key vehicle attributes such as safety, performance, durability, driver comfort and functionality,” writes Ford.

While the new Police Interceptor is based on the 2010 Ford Taurus, the changes are significant.

According to Cars.com, “Police departments across the country won’t be piloting just any Taurus off dealership lots. Ford says approximately 90 percent of the interior has been redesigned for police use.” Unique features include front seats with anti-stab plates to protect officers from violent criminals and vinyl rear seats to make cleaning up after messy ones easier.

Ford Police Interceptor

That’s not all. USA Today reports: “The Taurus-based model will keep the Police Interceptor name but offer just two 3.5-liter V-6 engines, no big V-8s, as in the Crown Vic. Ford boasts that the standard version will be 25% more fuel efficient than the current standard V-8. And the version with two turbochargers, what Ford calls EcoBoost, will deliver 365 horsepower, 115 more than the standard Crown Vic.” The 365-horsepower V6 is the same found in the performance-tuned Taurus SHO. An optional all-wheel drive system will also be available.

The result is a better-performing police car. “Ford’s new police car can endure a rear-end crash at 75 m.p.h., easily jump curbs and accelerate twice as fast as Ford's outgoing iconic Crown Victoria Police Interceptor,” says the Detroit Free Press.

However, the competition is tough. “The Taurus-based cop car will have to compete against the Dodge Charger cruiser, which looks good and is plenty fast with the available Hemi, and the Chevrolet Caprice, another rear-driver which is pretty much a Pontiac G8 in all but name (and civilian availability),” writes Edmunds.

Ford will cease production on the old Police Interceptor in late 2011 and begin introducing the new Taurus-based model in 2012.

Punch-Drunk: Pacman's Next Opponent

Manny Pacquiao dispatches Paquito Diaz… er, Joshua Clottey, and moves on to bigger things.

In mostly uninspired pre-fight promotions for his bout against pound-for-pound champion Manny Pacquiao, Joshua Clottey was branded as "The Hitter", a curious nickname for a boxer known more for his iron chin and tough defensive stance. For the record 50,000-plus people on hand at Cowboys Stadium and the millions who watched the fight around the world, a different label for Clottey came to mind after the fight; the label begins with ‘P' and ends with ‘-ussy'.

It's telling that the most memorable moment of the match between Filipino pound-for-pound champion Manny Pacquiao and Ghanaian challenger Joshua Clottey was a pompyang move out of a Fernando Poe Jr. movie. (Pacquiao made a clapping motion around the ears, squeezing Clottey's head.) Simply put, Clottey showed all the courage of a Pinoy movie goon throughout the fight. While I doubt that Clottey would be familiar with the oeuvre of Paquito Diaz and Rez Cortez, he probably figured early on that he had as much chance of winning against Pacquiao as the goons have when FPJ decides to clean house. At least, by not getting knocked out, Clottey has a chance to hoodwink promoters and fans for another payday.

Oh, but this column really ought to be about the hero – at the end of the movie, no one leaves the theater wondering about the respective fates of Paquito and Rez – so that's enough about Clottey. So what's next for our idol?

Behind Door No.1 is a run for the congressional seat in Sarangani province in the upcoming May 10 elections. Unfortunately for Pacman – and perhaps, fortunately for his fans who are not too keen on his entry into politics – the electoral battle he faces won't be as easy as the foreign boxing media makes it out to be. (Should it come as a surprise that Mario Lopez and his dimples don't offer much insight in the way of political analysis?)

Pacquiao is up against not just a political dynasty, but an entrenched oligarchy. His opponent, Roy Chiongbian, is not only a member of an influential political clan, but is closely allied with other powerful politicians in the province, such as incumbent Governor Miguel Dominguez, who is slowly gaining national prominence as a leader in the administration party. He's already highly visible alongside the party's standard-bearer presidential candidate during the latter's campaign sorties in Mindanao.

The governor is only eligible for one more term in office, and it's not hard to imagine the young politician whose star is rising to look beyond his current position, such as a seat in Congress. It would be terribly inconvenient for him if it were Pacquiao, instead of an ally in Chiongbian, in that seat in the 2013 elections.

Pacquiao is in for a tough time, and unlike in his ring battles, he might be the underdog in this battle. For one, he won't have a reliable guru like Freddie Roach on his corner for this fight. (Buboy Fernandez, on the other hand, might still be prominently involved.) For another, his opponents in the polls, unlike Clottey, would only be too willing to punch back. Already, his opponents have filed before the Comelec a petition to disqualify Pacquiao, a case that has since been junked by the poll body.

Behind Door No. 2 is the mega-fight against Floyd Mayweather, the boxing champion whose tremendous in-ring talent is surpassed only by his obnoxiousness. Mayweather has a superfight of his own coming up in May against the tough Shane Mosley, but Pretty Boy Floyd is expected to dance his way to a victory in that match. Pacquiao versus Mayweather (or perhaps, Mayweather versus Pacquiao) is the fight that everyone in the world wants to see. Everyone, that is, except for Pacquiao's mother, Mommy Dionisia.

But getting the two men in the ring together might be even harder than Pacquiao winning a congressional seat. Initial talks between the two camps already fell apart despite guarantees of mountains of cash for each fighter. Between the animosity between Top Rank and Golden Boy promotions and the prima donna attitude of both fighters – yes, Pacquiao is just as difficult as Mayweather, and deserves as much blame – negotiations for a no-brainer like a Mayweather-Pacquiao superfight turns into an embarrassing and frustrating affair. It can be every bit as frustrating as, well, watching Joshua Clottey refuse to mix it up against Manny Pacquiao in a main event bout.

'Champ's got skills, techniques'

HOLLYWOOD – Steve Forbes, one of Manny Pacquiao’s sparring partners, is on the same page with Freddie Roach.

The 33-year-old boxer from Nevada told Pinoy scribes the other day he sees Pacquiao finishing off Joshua Clottey in nine rounds at the Cowboys Stadium next Saturday.

Forbes said it did not take long for him to realize how strong Pacquiao is on the ring.

“You know, he’s a lot more better technically than what people give him credit for,” said Forbes of the WBO welterweight champion from the Philippines, who’s more known for his power than his technical ability.

“Yes, he’s got good skills and technique,” said Forbes.

And based on what he knows about Clottey, Forbes said it should be over in nine rounds, the same prediction Roach made the other day.

“Nine at most,” said Forbes.

“I see Manny overwhelming him with activity. There’s just too many angles for Pacquiao’s punches. There’s too much speed and good placement of shots. Manny will overwhelm him with speed and punching power.”

Forbes, who’s got a 34-7-0 record, was to face Harrison Cuello in Connecticut last night, and before he left the Wild Card Gym the other day he said working with Pacquiao will serve him in good stead.

“It’s great working with him and coach Freddie. There’s just so much to learn from them,” he said.

Notes: There’s no “24/7” coverage from HBO this time, but just the same the leading cable network came up with a 30-minute special – “The Road to Dallas.” It was aired Saturday evening, and tackled the coming fight between Manny Pacquiao and Josh Clottey. As usual, it was a good one, showing the distance between the two fighters, one being an icon, and the other just being there for the opportunity of a lifetime. While Pacquiao loved the glare of the cameras, Clottey appeared to be the quiet type – on and off the ring. The 33-year-old hero from Ghana stays in a small apartment in The Bronx, and has the habit of running by his lonesome, under the cover of darkness. Pacquiao, on the other hand, stays in his $2 million home in Los Angeles, and never leaves the house without his bloated entourage. The difference on the ring will be known next week... Dr. Allan Recto, a personal friend of Pacquiao’s, is amazed with the boxer’s physical conditioning. After Friday morning’s run and close to a thousand crunches, Pacquiao’s pulse rate was in the low 50s. Pacquiao downplays ?leg injury?

MANILA, Philippines (UPDATE) – Seven-division champ Manny Pacquiao has denied he sustained a serious leg injury while preparing for his welterweight title defense against Ghana’s Joshua Clottey.

Pacquiao, who is known to undergo brutal training when preparing for a fight, dismissed the “slight pain” as a mere sore muscle in his leg.

"Wala namang injury, sore lang ang muscle kasi," he said.

Pacquiao said they made changes on their strategy to pick on Clottey's defense.

"Binago namin [ang strategy] para ma-apply namin sa fight. 'Yung mga muscles [tuloy] na hindi nagagalaw medyo sumakit," he explained.

The Pacman, who will defend his World Boxing Organization (WBO) welterweight title against Clottey on March 13, hosted his final press conference in Los Angeles on Wednesday as his training camp began to wind down.

Pacquiao showed off his footwork, showing no signs of the reported leg injury.

"It was just shin splints. It's not really an injury. It's more of a nuisance,” said 4-time Trainer of the Year Freddie Roach.

Pacquiao has already faced 10 sparring partners in the course of his 7-week training. He domindated most of them.

"Right now 100% conditioned na tayo, ready na tayo sa fight. Maintain na lang sa kondisyon," he said.

The Filipino champ is the overwhelming favorite against Clottey, a former International Boxing Federation (IBF) welterweight champion. The fight will take place at the Cowboys Stadium in Dallas Texas.

He said he and Pacquiao have been studying Clottey’s tapes to spot his strengths and weaknesses. They have also been working on moves.

“He (Clottey) fights people with different styles, of course. But his habits are there and we can take advantage,” Roach told Fox Sports.

Mayweather raises doping issue vs Mosley, Pacquiao

MANILA, Philippines – Undefeated American fighter Floyd Mayweather, Jr. has not yet put an end to his doping allegation against 7-division world champion Manny Pacquiao, even mentioning it during the press conference of his May 1 fight against compatriot Shane Mosley.

Mayweather even brought up Mosley’s doping history during the press conference held at the Nokia Theatre in Times Square, New York City.

“I can't say how many fights Shane has won in the past because we know Shane was using enhancement drugs. That's something we do know,” he said as quoted by the Associated Press.

Although Mosley did not react to Mayweather's statement, the boxers still had a minor scuffle during the press conference which prompted their team members to intervene.

Mosley admitted to taking steroids “unknowingly” in 2003 after being forced by a former strength and conditioning coach to do so as part of his training.

“It's no different than Pacquiao. I offered Pacquiao the fight. I said, ‘We'll give you $25 million.’ I never met a man who wouldn't take a $25 million drug test,” continued Mayweather.

He was slated to fight Pacquiao on March 13 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada but negotiations crumbled because they disagreed on the drug testing protocol.

Pacquiao even sued Mayweather and some of his team members for alleging that he was taking performance-enhancing drugs. The Filipino boxing superstar chose to fight Ghanaian Joshua Clottey on March 13 at the Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer explained the title of the May 1 pay-per-view event.

“The theme of this fight is ‘who are you picking?’ because when two champions of this caliber meet in the ring, you can expect nothing but an extremely competitive fight and an unknown outcome that will only reveal itself on May 1,” Schaefer said in a statement posted on PhilBoxing.com.

“Shane Mosley is one of the greatest fighters of this era and so is Floyd Mayweather, so it is a true gift that the fans will have the opportunity to see a fiercely competitive and fantastic night of boxing,” he added.

Mayweather has a 40-0 (with 25 knockouts) record while reigning World Boxing Association (WBA) welterweight super champion Mosley has 46 wins (with 39 KOs) and 5 losses.

The undefeated American said of his foe: “Not only does he have the skills, but he is also fast, strong and a very tough competitor. His speed and power won't mean much that night against my will and determination to dominate him inside the square circle. When I compete against the best, I am always at my best; so on May 1 the fans will see one great performance.”

Mosley, for his part, noted that his dream of fighting Mayweather is finally coming true.

“Floyd is excellent at what he does, but my past record of beating the best competition and other great champions shows that he is just another one of my opponents I intend to beat. He has never faced anyone like me before and I think that will be a big factor on May 1 when I plan to show him just what it means to meet a true champion in the ring.”

TheSweetScience.com also reported that Schaefer predicted that the Mayweather-Mosley bout would generate 3 million buys. This is higher than the 2.7 million PPV buys record held by the 2007 fight between Mayweather and Oscar de la Hoya.
