Mt. Healthy United Methodist donates 377 pairs of socks

Big thanks go out today to Ruth Rechenbach and the leaders and students at Mt. Healthy United Methodist Church Vacation Bible School in Cincinnati! This weekend we received 377 pairs of new, high-quality socks they collected for Hannah's Socks.

We'll be sure to get these out to families who need them in the Greater Cincinnati area right away!

Let's pack the park with Hannah's Socks fans! On Sunday, August 30, Hannah Turner will throw out the ceremonial first pitch at the Toledo Mud Hens baseball game versus the Indianapolis Indians.

The fun-filled evening will include pre-game autographs with selected Mud Hen players, then after the game "Kids Run the Bases" (12 & under), followed by the grand finalé, a free fireworks show.

To sit with the Hannah's Socks group, call ticket agent Scott Rourke at 419-725-4539 and tell him you want to sit with your friends from Hannah's Socks. He'll take care of you!

Congrats to the June '09 Volunteer of the Month Award winner

The Hannah's Socks Volunteer of the Month Award is given to a person who best reflects the generous spirit of Hannah Turner by donating those most valuable of gifts — time and energy — in support of the Hannah's Socks cause.

We'd like to congratulate the winner for June 2009, Kira Maloy of Toledo, Ohio.

Kira's contributions include:

Regularly helping hand out socks Saturdays at the Downtown Toledo Library
Hand-knitting beautiful scarves, hats, mittens and (of course) socks to donate to our cause
Convincing Meijer to donate 1,500 plastic shopping bags to help our work at the library
Generously donating more than 170 pairs of undergarments, more than 200 pairs of socks, and more than 60 undershirts recently

Way to go, Kira!
