Star Style: How To Get Gabrielle Union's Glossy Curls

Gabrielle Union's full, glossy hairstyle is easy to acheive and, to the excitement of our wallets, also affordable-- thanks to products by Tresemme. We always find it so refreshing knowing that our favorite stars use the same products we ourselves love.

We got the scoop from Tresemme stylist Tyler Laswell on how he created this full-bodied look for the star:

To begin, prep hair with TRESemme Thermal Creations Heat Tamer Spray ($4.75, drugstore.com) all over.

Next, separate hair into four sections; sides, back of head and top of head. Then, wrap 1" sections around a curling iron, holding the ends. Alternate between a 1" curling iron and a 1 1/2" iron. This adds more demention and volume to the hair.

Once entire head curled, use a blow dryer and just your fingertips to stretch and soften the curls into waves. Finish the look with one of our favorite glossing products, TRESemmé No-Frizz Shine Spray ($4.75, drugstore.com) to create a natural sheen.

Q. I want to wear this sweater for Thanksgiving but it will most likely be freezing. What should I wear under or over it?

A. This sleeveless cowl neck sweater is a little bit chunky for layering under a jacket or blazer, so try wearing a fitted long sleeve shirt underneath. Look for something v-neck or with a low neckline so it doesn't interfere with the cowl neck of the sweater.

My two favorite ways to add needed fuel to a blah outfit are cuffs and clutches. Accordingly, I have accumulating my fair share of these accessories in my closet. My obsession started at the prom in 1991 when my best friend wore the most glorious cuff bracelet and satin clutch handbag. I had a big old bush of flowers on my wrist and a black pleather purse that proved my years as a member of the fashionably challenged club weren't behind me just yet. But on that night, I turned over a new leaf and cuffs and clutches have been a reliable staple for me since. Two more years until my high school reunion, and I assure you, I will be sophisticatedly attired and well accessorized while leaving the pleather to my car's upholstery.

Leighton Meester is no Blair Waldorf

We love when people play against type. That's why we find Leighton Meester's character Blair Waldorf on The CW's Gossip Girl so much fun. On the show she plays a preppy Upper East Side princess, when in real life she is more of a downtown diva.

Every Monday we see her in sheaths, caplets (as shown above), pencil skirts, peacoats and headbands. Alternatively in her downtime she works abstract print dresses, skinnies and booties, and leather.

There are a few basic tenets or credos that all good fashionistas live by, including:

Closets should have a direction or sense of organization. Whether color coordinated, coordinated by category or separated by season, you've got to have a method to the madness for quick access to whichever piece of apparel you are seeking.

Pack your wardrobe with the basics: a Little Black Dress, go-to blazer, jeans that make you appear skinny when you are having a "puffy" day (I dislike the phrase "fat day"), a great peacoat or trench coat and a cashmere sweater. You know, things like that.

When your fashion sense eludes you, accessorize with smart and sexy shoes, scarves, sunglasses and handbags. Some say style is all in the details anyway.

With the last two tenets in mind, I'm determined to infuse my closet staples with a "wow" piece of clothing or accessory to breathe new life into my wardrobe this holiday season. Here's how:

Q. I have a sequin shrug/jacket and I don't know what shoes to wear with it. Can you help?

A. For most occasions, we recommend wearing just one shiny piece at a time, so try pairing a suede pump or leather bootie with your sequin jacket. For a dressier occasion, however, you can get away with a metallic or shiny shoe with your jacket, provided the rest of your look is more subdued (i.e. a little black dress).
