Freddie Mac, the taxpayer-owned mortgage giant, has placed multibillion-dollar bets that pay off if homeowners stay trapped in expensive mortgages with interest rates well above current rates.
Freddie began increasing these bets dramatically in late 2010, the same time that the company was making it harder for homeowners to get out of such high-interest mortgages.
No evidence has emerged that these decisions were coordinated. The company is a key gatekeeper for home loans but says its traders are “walled off” from the officials who have restricted homeowners from taking advantage of historically low interest rates by imposing higher fees and new rules.
Freddie’s charter calls for the company to make home loans more accessible. Its chief executive, Charles Haldeman Jr., recently told Congress that his company is “helping financially strapped families reduce their mortgage costs through refinancing their mortgages.”
But the trades, uncovered for the first time in an investigation by ProPublica and NPR, give Freddie a powerful incentive to do the opposite, highlighting a conflict of interest at the heart of the company. In addition to being an instrument of government policy dedicated to making home loans more accessible, Freddie also has giant investment portfolios and could lose substantial amounts of money if too many borrowers refinance.
“We were actually shocked they did this,” says Scott Simon, who as the head of the giant bond fund PIMCO’s mortgage-backed securities team is one of the world’s biggest mortgage bond traders. “It seemed so out of line with their mission.”
The trades “put them squarely against the homeowner,” he says.
Those homeowners have a lot at stake, too. Many of them could cut their interest payments by thousands of dollars a year.
Freddie Mac, along with its cousin Fannie Mae, was bailed out in 2008 and is now owned by taxpayers. The companies play a pivotal role in the mortgage business because they insure most home loans in the United States, making banks likelier to lend. The companies’ rules determine whether homeowners can get loans and on what terms.
The Federal Housing Finance Agency effectively serves as Freddie’s board of directors and is ultimately responsible for Freddie’s decisions. It is run by acting director Edward DeMarco, who cannot be fired by the president except in extraordinary circumstances.
Freddie and the FHFA repeatedly declined to comment on the specific transactions.
Freddie’s moves to limit refinancing affect not only individual homeowners but the entire economy. An expansive refinancing program could help millions of homeowners, some economists say. Such an effort would “help the economy and put tens of billions of dollars back in consumers’ pockets, the equivalent of a very long-term tax cut,” says real-estate economist Christopher Mayer of the Columbia Business School. “It also is likely to reduce foreclosures and benefit the U.S. government” because Freddie and Fannie, which guarantee most mortgages in the country, would have lower losses over the long run.
Freddie Mac’s trades, while perfectly legal, came during a period when the company was supposed to be reducing its investment portfolio, according to the terms of its government takeover agreement. But these trades escalate the risk of its portfolio, because the securities Freddie has purchased are volatile and hard to sell, mortgage securities experts say.
The financial crisis in 2008 was made worse when Wall Street traders made bets against their customers and the American public. Now, some see similar behavior, only this time by traders at a government-owned company who are using leverage, which increases the potential profits but also the risk of big losses, and other Wall Street stratagems. “More than three years into the government takeover, we have Freddie Mac pursuing highly levered, complicated transactions seemingly with the purpose of trading against homeowners,” says Mayer. “These are the kinds of things that got us into trouble in the first place.”
'We’re in financial jail'

Freddie Mac is betting against, among others, Jay and Bonnie Silverstein. The Silversteins live in an unfinished development of cul-de-sacs and yellow stucco houses about 20 miles north of Philadelphia, in a house decorated with Bonnie’s orchids and their Rose Bowl parade pin collection. The developer went bankrupt, leaving orange plastic construction fencing around some empty lots. The community clubhouse isn’t complete.
The Silversteins have a 30-year fixed mortgage with an interest rate of 6.875 percent, much higher than the going rate of less than 4 percent. They have borrowed from family members and are living paycheck to paycheck. If they could refinance, they would save about $500 a month. He says the extra money would help them pay back some of their family members and visit their grandchildren more often.
But brokers have told the Silversteins that they cannot refinance, thanks to a Freddie Mac rule.
The Silversteins used to live in a larger house 15 minutes from their current place, in a more upscale development. They had always planned to downsize as they approached retirement. In 2005, they made the mistake of buying their new house before selling the larger one. As the housing market plummeted, they couldn’t sell their old house, so they carried two mortgages for 2½ years, wiping out their savings and 401(k). “It just drained us,” Jay Silverstein says.
Finally, they were advised to try a short sale, in which the house is sold for less than the value of the underlying mortgage. They stopped making payments on the big house for it to go through. The sale was finally completed in 2009.
Such debacles hurt a borrower’s credit rating. But Bonnie has a solid job at a doctor’s office, and Jay has a pension from working for more than two decades for Johnson & Johnson. They say they haven’t missed a payment on their current mortgage.
But the Silversteins haven't been able to get their refi. Freddie Mac won’t insure a new loan for people who had a short sale in the last two to four years, depending on their financial condition. While the company’s previous rules prohibited some short sales, in October 2010 the company changed its criteria to include all short sales. It is unclear whether the Silverstein mortgage would have been barred from a short sale under the previous Freddie rules.
Short-term, Freddie’s trades benefit from the high-interest mortgage in which the Silversteins are trapped. But in the long run, Freddie could benefit if the Silversteins refinanced to a more affordable loan. Freddie guarantees the Silversteins' mortgage, so if the couple defaults, Freddie — and the taxpayers who own the company — are on the hook. Getting the Silversteins into a more affordable mortgage would make a default less likely.
If millions of homeowners like the Silversteins default, the economy would be harmed. But if they switch to loans with lower interest rates, they would have more money to spend, which could boost the economy.
“We’re in financial jail,” says Jay, “and we’ve never been there before.”

California, New York, Illinois Are Destroying the American Dream

The three states that are sinking America are California, New York and Illinois. These three states are the tail that now wags the dog. They are the hole in our bucket.
With 23% of the U.S. population enslaved by the Liberal Socialist-Democrat party, they should look towards Europe tomorrow morning when the member states sign away their sovereignty to a centralized government in Brussels. The weaker less industrialized nations of the Eurozone are forcing, due to their irresponsible financial dealings, all members to sign on to a centralized budgeting system that will oversee each countries spending and revenue collection. Thus taking away a countries authority to tax and spend.
Good or bad this harsh tasting medicine wont go down well in the weaker bankrupt countries.
The three Democrat governors of California, New York and Illinois, their five out of six Liberal Democrat Senators, along with the 63 Liberal Democrat out of 111 Congressmen that represent these states, will be watching their states future tomorrow. Do they care? Of course not, they're out for themselves and nothing more. But their actions, will eventually force other more fiscally responsible states to lose their independence.
Unless these three states mend their ways, they risk losing their states' rights and the states' rights of all states in our country.
This would end the decentralized governing system our country has enjoyed for over 250 years. This layering of governance, historians have said, is what has kept our country together for as long as it has.

A longtime Wall Street Insider details the still very much alive and kicking Shorebank, the growing Solyndra scandal, and the globalization goals of the Obama White House.

UM: You indicated three specific things you wanted to discuss today – my “homework” as you called it regarding the walk around 19th and G in Washington DC, my recent interview with -Name Deleted- , and what you called the dismantling of the United States’ economy and military. Is that accurate?

WSI: Yes – that is correct. Did you enjoy the visit to D.C.? The hotel?
UM: It was…yes…thank you. The hotel was quite nice.
WSI: And the walk? 19th and G?
UM: Not so much.
WSI: So much?
UM: Maybe I was expecting…more…your tone was pretty ominous when you told me I needed to go take a look. So…perhaps my expectations were a bit unrealistic.
WSI: Ah…you were expecting…something else?
UM: Yeah – sure. Like I said…your tone was rather…dramatic.
WSI: And you didn’t find the environment there equally dramatic?
UM: No.
The buildings – the IMF, the World Bank…they were impressive. No doubt. Massive-massive buildings.
WSI: Massive – yes. And you don’t even get it all from the street you know.
UM: No?
WSI: Nearly a third of it is underground I believe. Was told that some time ago…
In fact, if I recall, if you take the square footage of the World Bank and both IMF buildings…they are larger than the White House, the Capitol building, the State Department, and the Treasury buildings combined.
UM: Really? That doesn’t seem possible.
WSI: It does give one pause, does it not? Why those two entities – which are in fact simply different appendages from a shared entity…why…or how, the IMF and World Bank dwarf those symbols of the American Republic. And the proximity upon which they loom just down the road from the cradle of this nation’s democracy. Those buildings represent an entire nation within a nation if you will…and a clear and quite present danger to the unique and critical ideal  of a self-sustaining Unites States. An ideal that has been systematically bargained away and given over to the vultures of globalism.

UM: That’s a mouthful.
WSI: That is the cold hard truth of it. And so it has been marching to that end for decades, and now it would appear the current president and those who comprise his administration and support system, are the final harbingers of that very certain reality. If you did not grasp the enormity of that reality as you stood under the face of those buildings – those massive and never sleeping soldiers of globalization…I perhaps thought too much of your abilities. Perhaps if you were to look into the timing of the IMF’s gold activities – and the accompanying Federal Reserve’s manipulations of the dollar…
(Pause)
Did you…take a look on the other side as I suggested. The area that bookends 19th and G – with the White House almost directly in between?
UM: I assumed you meant the Treasury building.
WSI: Assumed? So you…did not investigate that area as well?
UM: No.
WSI: (Sighs) Ah…so I did overestimate your abilities. Or underestimated your ignorance. That is my error.
UM: I wasn’t aware – you didn’t make it clear I needed to—-
WSI: (Interrupts) —Didn’t “make it clear”? That is an excuse. Excuses are what has brought this situation to it’s now near inevitable conclusion. Don’t talk to me of “making it clear” – you were given an opportunity to see for yourself. You failed to do so.
UM: Fine. I failed. How about you explain what I would have seen if I had went to that area…the bookend of 19th and G. Perhaps I would have been just as underwhelmed as the IMF and World Bank buildings left me.
WSI: How anyone can say they looked into such buildings…the thousands upon thousands of people inside of them…the security measures alone for the IMF…though perhaps you didn’t even bother to push it that far…no…you simply walked on. As is the way with youthful indifference. As is the way with those who would once again vote for President Obama. The utter indifference that is the downfall of this gift.
UM: Gift?
WSI: Yes – GIFT.   America. It is a gift – one from God. A divine gift to the world…and one that is now being rebuked. Utterly shameful. We will reap what we sow.
UM: Back to the bookend – what did you want me to see?
WSI: What you or anyone who simply takes a bit of time to discover…you have written on the very subject! You write these things…then you move on. Others read them…then they too move on. So few take the time to then watch and learn…it all gets so…so dumbed down by too little time taken to comprehend what is right there in front of our noses! Every time a nation undergoes a collapse…every time we then look back and pass judgement on how those involved could not see…all of the clues were there and yet they could not see. But now…now we are the ones who choose not to see. Or hear…because we have long ago forgotten how to listen.
I thought you were one to listen.
It appears I was wrong.
UM: I apologize – that’s not true. I misunderstood you – that’s not the same thing.
WSI: Again…an excuse.
UM: What was there you wanted me to see? I wrote about it before?
WSI: Yes – you did. Everything you have written on I have followed – to the smallest detail, even your readers’ comments…knowing you are being given clues, are being led in a very specific direction…everything. To do anything less would have been disrespectful of you. I would not do that. Have not done it.
But…perhaps I could have been more…clear in my direction. Perhaps.
UM: What did I – what did I miss? What was it you wanted me to see?
WSI: Do you recall Shorebank? That quickly forgotten scandal tied to this administration…to the Democratic Party?
UM: Yes…the failed bank. It was the front for the Cap and Trade thing right? Al Gore, Obama, the Clintons – they all had ties to it. I remember. Obama – President Obama…he was trying to give it a bailout but the political pressure was too much – he eventually had to let it fail.

WSI: No – he did not. That bank…that institution did not fail.
UM: Yes it did – I read the coverage. Shorebank failed. It collapsed. It was all over the news.
WSI: You are right – they reported on its failure. Just as they were supposed to do.
But Shorebank did not fail…it still exists. Same people. Same agenda. If you had gone where I had suggested…you would have seen its proximity to the White House – how it bookends both the IMF and the World Bank.
UM: Shorebank?
WSI: Yes.
The Solyndra scandal…I told you it represents but a fraction of the kind of corruption inherent within the Obama stimulus package. Entities such as Shorebank, Solyndra, the pension funds…they are nothing more than multi-billion dollar fronts for this agenda.  And many hands for many years, from both political parties – but certainly more so from the Democrats and their supporters, have been dipping into that cookie jar. It is that corruption that is far more damaging to the administration than even Fast and Furious, for such corruption is now so long standing it is institutional. And you, perhaps unknowingly…but I am certain you were being led to that place…you touched on that very thing with your most recent interview with -Name Deleted- .
The demise of that operative. The theft of the campaign finances. The strong link between President Obama and the California Attorney General and then of course, the subsequent link to the Department of Justice…all appendages from the same host. For those who take the time to look. You unfortunately…have not. Not fully.
UM: First let’s get back to Shorebank. You’re wrong on that.  I can pull up a hundred stories about its collapse.
WSI: Yes – I am certain you can.
UM: So?
WSI: So – that is what was intended.  Can a person change their name and still exist? And are they not still the same person?
UM: Yeah – of course.
WSI: There is your answer.
UM: Shorebank changed its name?
WSI: Exactly. Simple. And I know you have readers who are likely already aware of that fact – they know. But you unfortunately…you simply marched on after being told Shorebank was no more.

WSI: U.P.B – Urban Partnership Bank…just another community activist sounding entity. The kind that is so familiar to this administration. The name change was reported on…just not nearly to the degree that the “collapse” of Shorebank was. And so…Shorebank lives on – simply having changed its name.
UM: How so? The money…the investments—
WSI: (interrupts) —The investments were quickly assembled – and directly by the Obama administration. Look over the list of investors – that information is easily available to you as well. Institutions that had received tax payer funded bailouts were pushed to invest in the re-born version of Shorebank. That is what the bailout and the stimulus provided the federal government – the regulatory authority to tell these institutions what to do. And so they did. Hundreds of millions of dollars – bailout funds…the people’s money…hundreds of millions spent to prop Shorebank back onto its feet and continue on its way.
And the very same staff remained. The very same individuals who ran Shorebank and who worked so closely with Democrats and the globalization architects…those very same individuals now run U.P.B.   Shorebank then did not collapse. She is the very same woman at the dance doing no more than wearing a different dress. And you, like so many others who pretend to pay attention…you were fooled.
And are you aware of the motto that was Shorebank – that is still the unspoken motto of U.P.B. ?
UM: No.
WSI: “Building an inclusive global financial system”
Globalization…the consequential decrease of the United States in favor of…for lack of a better term…a one-world centralized system. The IMF and it’s ugly and more clumsy cousin, the World Bank – that entity is working overtime now to see that dream a reality. And no administration in my own lifetime has been so keen to make it happen. President Obama is…of this I am quite certain…as devoted a globalist as has ever occupied the White House.
The Federal Reserve, working in conjunction with Treasury, has created the false floor that is the American economy. Perhaps the illusion will play out for another year. or five, maybe even ten…but the time will come…you will be alive for it…perhaps even I will…when the illusion will reveal itself and the collapse will result. And within that vacuum will come the move for aggressive and outright globalization.
President Barack Obama has been closely tied to Shorebank for far longer than most realize – nearly twenty years. Is it so much to imagine then that his rise to power…an oddly meteoric rise mind you…is it so much to think that perhaps then there are those within the move for globalization that have been the unknown hand behind this untested and inexperienced man’s ability to be elected President of the United States?
UM: A conspiracy?
WSI: No – a simple investment. President Obama is nothing more than an investment with the expectation of return. Nothing more. What is politics – those who finance politics…but a system of investment? So too is the Obama presidency.
What makes this different though, is that the return on investment this time is the collapse of the American economy and its subsequent replacement within the larger globalization movement.
Shorebank lives on – an entity whose motto is “Building an inclusive global financial system”.
And do you know of the four primary offices of Shorebank International? Their specific locations? How that information alone is the roadmap of where the Obama administration intends to take the United States?
UM: The locations? No.
WSI: You have Washington D.C. of course. And Chicago – from where President Obama began his political rise to power. Where he has been united with Shorebank for nearly 20 years.
D.C. – Chicago…and then London. The European Union hub if you will.
And then…Islamabad.
UM: Islamabad? Shoreline Bank?
WSI: Yes. You can look it up – the information is there to find easily enough. A rather odd location perhaps? Then again…perhaps not.
And that story of the campaign fund theft – your last interview…
UM: Yes?
WSI: Do you know the bank who held those funds?
UM: I believe I read it – but I don’t remember the name right now. Not off the top of my head.
WSI: Again – that is lazy. You must learn to recall such details.
UM: Fine – just…just go ahead with your point.
WSI: That was First California Bank…that is the institution that held the funds that were stolen. Millions. From the Senator whose operative was found dead. The Senator who crossed the labor unions. You recall my warnings about the labor unions in all of this?
UM: Yes.
WSI: That bank – First California…are you aware they received bailout funds? Approximately $25 million I believe. It was in essence controlled then by the Obama administration.
Are you even aware that one out of every four or five dollars contributed to Barack Obama in 2008 came from California? Does that not perhaps fit into your recent coverage regarding the now deceased operative?
And where will you find the location of Solyndra?
UM: California.
WSI: And where will you find the single largest donor to the Obama campaign in 2008?
UM: California
WSI: And the political operative -Name Deleted- told you about? The one found dead?
UM: California
(Pause)
UM: Can I ask you a quick question?
WSI: Certainly.
UM: Did you attend the Clinton innauguration? The first one?
WSI: I have personally attended…on some level… every presidential innauguration since 1977.
Every one.
Why do you ask?
UM: Just trying to be…less ignorant.
If you are able, will you attend the next inauguration if Barack Obama is re-elected in 2012?
WSI: No…

This is a communique I just received from a friend in Kenya who is an expert oil analyst and fund manager who is seen quite often on Aljazeera English around the world.
Kenya is under great pressure from radical Islamic terrorists who are now killing Christians and burning churches.
As Aly my friend stated "it's all spinning out of control." he doesn't normally speak so candid which leads me to worry more about him and the region.
The region's stability is now being knocked off it's pedestal with Uganda and Somalia's wars now effecting Kenya.
The interesting part of what's happening in eastern Africa is that it's purely a religious war, Christian vs Muslim.
Churches are being burned and Christians are kidnapped and blown up daily. As this conflict continues to grow I wonder if President Obama will dedicate troops and resources to help prevent a genocide of Christians in the region?
With the northern rim of Africa now in turmoil it won't take much to set most of the continent into a full fledge religious war.

How Our Members of Congress Become Rich After Taking Office

Are you mad at Congress and the President? Well, get ready to get even madder!
As you know, 60 Minutes last month exposed the likes of Nancy Pelosi and other Congressmen for their use of insider information to pad their pockets. You know that it's legal for them to trade on this information while you and Martha Stewart must go to jail for doing the same. Initially there was outrage in the country, but as usual most are more worried about feeding the family than hanging Congressmen, so far.
After reading more about how this Congressional insider trading works there seem to be two common denominators, the husband or wife and the lawyer!!!
As Steve Kroft illustrated on national TV, there has been the selling of this insider information. He failed to be more specific. We can only speculate that there's more to come once they have additional proof that Congressmen are selling Congressional information to hedge funds (George Soros, etc).
This is where it gets tricky. If you've noticed, whenever Congressmen are called out publicly about such manipulations, the spouse is mentioned. Example, Senator X has a net worth of $XXX and their spouse's net worth is $XXXXXXXX. Get my point?
It appears that many marriages in Congress are simply business arrangements to help deflect the thievery that's going on. Simply stated, the spouse takes the privileged congressional information and runs with it. First to their own account where they obtain a position and then sell it to eager hedge fund managers who drive the price up by obtaining positions in their managed portfolios.
In California Senator Feinstein and Congressman Pelosi are perfect examples of this practice with spouses worth substantially more than the elected spouse.
After watching Pelosi's act on camera, she's no Warren Buffett, yet her combined family net worth is in the hundreds of millions of dollars and Feinstein's now surpassing a billion dollars.
The last part of this trilogy of corruption are the "lawyers." The lawyers are the communication network that transfers this information from one interested party to another. Confidentiality laws protect the lawyers and their clients so no one can be forced to testify unless someone gets a conscience.
But as usual the press and the American people are a day late and a dollar short as hedge funds and Congressmen cover up their tracks. Congress in their endless need for more cash passed the Dodd-Frank Bill that was to stop all of this or at least give authorities the authority to dig deeper into their dealings with Congress.
Unfortunately, our government knowingly left open a back door for hedge funds to be exempt from the new law.
By allowing hedge funds to form "family offices" which is just another name for hedge fund, they escape the entire mess that is Dodd-Frank.
This explains why George Soros and many other funds closed and reopened under "family offices." This little maneuver stopped any investigation into their dealings with the Congressmen, the Obama Administration, Prince al-Walled and others. Case closed!!!
Of course, the mainstream media are not looking into this. That's why it was no surprise when 60 Minutes mentioned the practice of selling privileged Congressional information, but fell short of reveling more. They must have realized they had opened a hornet nest. A hornet nest that reaches all the way to the White House and President Obama's connections with George Soros and other despots.

The Unemployment Rate is Rigged and Here's How Obama is Doing It

A few months ago a little known announcement 2011-64 by the Internal Revenue Service allowed nonprofit organizations to include volunteers, who are not paid, as employees.
I'm curious why the media hasn't picked up on this new artificial way of increasing employment numbers and the lowering of the unemployment rate.
As most know, there are now thousands of Liberal 501-C3 nonprofits (moveOn.org, ACORN, Save the Whale, etc.) in America with easily millions of volunteers working at these individual causes. To now count these unpaid volunteers as employees and to add them in the employment census as new hires is fixing the numbers.
In the past we've seen the conduct of many of these nonprofits, and for them to add people that don't volunteer their time or padding the payroll list of employees, would be of piece of cake.
And let's not forget that we are in an election year where hundreds of nonprofits are gathering unpaid volunteers to reelect the President. Are the thousands of Obama volunteers now going to be counted as new hires, even though they aren't paid? I think you know the answer to that.

It's now evident that the Obama administration will stop at nothing, even changing the definition of who is an employee, to make it seem that our unemployment rate is declining.
Again I ask where is the media and most of all where are the analysts?

Voluntary Classification Settlement Program

I. PURPOSE
The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has developed a new program to permit taxpayers to voluntarily reclassify workers as employees for federal employment tax purposes. The Voluntary Classification Settlement Program (VCSP) allows eligible taxpayers to voluntarily reclassify their workers for federal employment tax purposes and obtain relief similar to that obtained in the current Classification Settlement Program (CSP). The VCSP is optional and provides taxpayers with an opportunity to voluntarily reclassify their workers as employees for future tax periods with limited federal employment tax liability for the past nonemployee treatment. To participate in the program, the taxpayer must meet certain eligibility requirements, apply to participate in VCSP, and enter into a closing agreement with the IRS.
II. BACKGROUND
Whether a worker is performing services as an employee or as an independent contractor depends upon the facts and circumstances and is generally determined under the common law test of whether the service recipient has the right to direct and control the worker as to how to perform the services. In some factual situations, the determination of the proper worker classification status under the common law may not be clear. For taxpayers under IRS examination, the current CSP is available to resolve federal employment tax issues related to worker misclassification, if certain criteria are met. The examination CSP permits the prospective reclassification of workers as employees, with reduced federal employment tax liabilities for past nonemployee treatment. The CSP allows business and tax examiners to resolve the worker classification issues as early in the administrative process as possible, thereby reducing taxpayer burden and providing efficiencies for both the taxpayer and the government.
In order to facilitate voluntary resolution of worker classification issues and achieve the resulting benefits of increased tax compliance and certainty for taxpayers, workers and the government, the IRS has determined that it would be beneficial to provide taxpayers with a program that allows for voluntary reclassification of workers as employees outside of the examination context and without the need to go through normal administrative correction procedures applicable to employment taxes.
III. ELIGIBILITY
The VCSP is available for taxpayers who want to voluntarily change the prospective classification of their workers. The program applies to taxpayers who are currently treating their workers (or a class or group of workers) as independent contractors or other nonemployees and want to prospectively treat the workers as employees. To be eligible, a taxpayer must have consistently treated the workers as nonemployees, and must have filed all required Forms 1099 for the workers for the previous three years. The taxpayer cannot currently be under audit by the IRS. Furthermore, the taxpayer cannot be currently under audit concerning the classification of the workers by the Department of Labor or by a state government agency. A taxpayer who was previously audited by the IRS or the Department of Labor concerning the classification of the workers will only be eligible if the taxpayer has complied with the results of that audit.
IV. EFFECT OF VCSP
A taxpayer who participates in the VCSP will agree to prospectively treat the class of workers as employees for future tax periods. In exchange, the taxpayer will pay 10 percent of the employment tax liability that may have been due on compensation paid to the workers for the most recent tax year, determined under the reduced rates of section 3509 of the Internal Revenue Code; will not be liable for any interest and penalties on the liability; and will not be subject to an employment tax audit with respect to the worker classification of the workers for prior years. Additionally, a taxpayer participating in the VCSP will agree to extend the period of limitations on assessment of employment taxes for three years for the first, second and third calendar years beginning after the date on which the taxpayer has agreed under the VCSP closing agreement to begin treating the workers as employees.
V. APPLICATION PROCESS
Eligible taxpayers who wish to participate in the VCSP must submit an application for participation in the program. Information about the VCSP and the application will be available on www.irs.gov. Along with the application, the name of a contact or an authorized representative with a valid Power of Attorney (Form 2848) should be provided. The IRS will contact the taxpayer or authorized representative to complete the process once it has reviewed the application and verified the taxpayer’s eligibility. The IRS retains discretion whether to accept a taxpayer’s application for the VCSP. Taxpayers whose application has been accepted will enter into a closing agreement with the IRS to finalize the terms of the VCSP and will simultaneously make full and complete payment of any amount due under the closing agreement.

Details of Obama's Letter to Surrender the Strait of Hormuz to Iran Leaked Today

TEHRAN, Jan. 18 (MNA) -- A number of Iranian officials have released the details of the letter that Barack Obama recently sent to Tehran.
The New York Times, citing U.S. government officials, wrote on January 12 that the Obama administration had sent a message to Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei warning that closing the Strait of Hormuz is a "red line" that would provoke a response by the United States.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ramin Mehmanparast said on January 15 that U.S. officials had sent a message on the Strait of Hormuz to the Islamic Republic through three officials, noting, "Susan Rice, the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, delivered a letter to Mohammad Khazaii, the Islamic Republic of Iran's ambassador (to the UN). The Swiss ambassador to Tehran (Livia Leu Agosti) also conveyed the message, and Jalal Talabani, the Iraqi president, conveyed the message to officials of the Islamic Republic of Iran as well."
Obama has called for negotiations MP Ali Motahhari said on Wednesday, "In the letter, it has been stated that 'closing the Strait of Hormuz is our red line' and they have requested direct negotiations."
"In the letter, Obama has announced readiness for negotiation and the resolution of mutual disagreements," he added.
He went on to say that Obama uttered threats in the first part of the letter and talked about friendship and negotiation in the second part.
Obama says U.S. will not take hostile action against Iran.
MP Hojjatoleslam Hossein Ebrahimi said on Wednesday, "Obama's letter has several parts. Part of it is about this, (namely) that using international waterways is the right of all countries and all should benefit from them. And in this letter, he has described it as the United States' red line."
"In the letter, Obama has mentioned cooperation and negotiation based on the interests of the two countries," Ebrahimi, who is the deputy chairman of the Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, told the Nasimonline news website.
"He has stated in the letter that they will not take any hostile action against the Islamic Republic of Iran," he added.
Ebrahimi also said, "This is not the first time that Obama has sent a message and letter to the Islamic Republic of Iran. He has repeatedly spoken in a soft tone about the Islamic Republic of Iran, but, in practice, he has not acted accordingly."
"Obama's letter indicates that the United States has become afraid of the Islamic Republic of Iran's might and has realized the point that an arrogant spirit is of no use, and therefore, he has softened his tone when speaking about the Islamic Republic of Iran," he stated.
He added, "The important issue is that without the Islamic Republic of Iran's permission, no country can benefit from the Persian Gulf."
Iran responsible for maintaining security of Persian Gulf Expediency Council Secretary Mohsen Rezaii also commented on the letter on Wednesday, saying, "Mr. Obama has written a cunning letter and intended to claim that the U.S. is responsible for maintaining the security of the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz, while Iran itself is responsible for maintaining the security of this region."
"We maintain the security of the region with the help of regional countries," he said, adding, "There is no need for the presence of extra-regional forces to maintain the security of this region, and we believe that the presence of the United States and Britain mostly creates insecurity."
If they "feel compassion" for regional countries and want to help them enhance security in the region, "I advise them to leave the region," Rezaii stated.

Breaking News - Bombshell Allegations Against Obama

According to a person who is described as a long-time Democratic Party operative and White House insider, a series of bombshell allegations have been made against Barack Obama revolving around possible murder, addiction, and atheism.
The allegations were made yesterday in an interview conducted by a reporter who works for a major news organization and posts interviews with the insider under the anonymous pen-name 'Ulsterman.'
Last year Ulsterman made headlines when he first began to publish the interviews with the insider, who claimed that traditional Democrats in the mold of Doug Shoen, Pat Caddell, and James Carville are alarmed over the direction Obama is taking the country and the damage he is doing to the Democratic Party.
The insider correctly predicted the exit of a series of top Obama advisers and a gargantuan scandal of historic proportions that would engulf the White House. Later, the story broke that the Administration had engaged in a gun smuggling scheme in Mexico in order to create false statistics 'proving' that 90% of the guns used by drug cartels come from the U.S. and thus, 'proving' that drastic new gun control laws are needed.
Critics have claimed that 'Ulsterman' is a hoax and that the 'insider' is made up. To back up their claims they have pointed to the fact that some of the predictions made in the interviews did not pan out and that thus far there is no independent corroborating evidence to prove that the insider's assertions are correct.
Nonetheless, such was the case when Washington Post reporters Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein first began to unravel the massive corruption inherent in the Nixon Administration. Their 'White House insider' was named 'Deep Throat.' Eventually the information uncovered by the two was considered so vital to the discovery of the Watergate scandal that a book and a movie came out about the entire thing entitled, All the President's Men.
Ulsterman's latest allegations revolve around the 2008 Presidential campaign. The insider states unequivocally that Obama is an atheist and that everyone around him knew it from the beginning. His involvement in the church of the Reverend Jeremiah 'G-D Amerikkka' Wright in Chicago for over 20 years was merely part of his work as a community organizer. In the African American community, having a connection with a large black church is key to getting to know the movers and shakers in that community.
The insider also claims that religion is a big joke among Obama's inner circle, including Barack himself, Michelle Obama, Valerie Jarrett, and others.
In addition, the insider implies that Obama is an addict--a severe addict. He points to an incident during the 2008 campaign, just before the Democratic National Convention, in which Obama was taken into a back room alone by unnamed aides due to the fact that he appeared disoriented, weak, and shaken. A half-hour later he emerged fully conscious and aware, engaged, and at the top of his game.
What happened in that room to Obama that can reasonably account for such a dramatic turnaround?

According to Ulsterman, the insider claims that very few persons know what happened, and that information was tightly guarded. One person, however, somehow got the information, a young Democratic operative on the West Coast, who mysteriously wound up dead of 'natural causes.' No investigation was conducted into the death.

Obama Speeds Up Visa's For Visitors - Why Now?

This should scare the hell out of every American. He say's it's to increase tourism in America, but we know better, don't we?

They are instructed to hook up with immigration lawyers who hook them up with political operatives that register them as new voters who will vote the way they're told.
This action by the President shows how desperate he is to gain votes for the November election. Reaching to this level of desperation publicly should send warning signs to Republicans that this President will stop at nothing to be reelected.

The New Conservative Governor of the State of New York Andrew Cuomo

Stop the presses! Pretty soon, that term will be met with clueless expressions. But, I digress. In a very quiet way the Governor of New York Andrew Cuomo, the young'n of Mario is acting more like a conservative Republican than the Liberal Democrat he is.
Today he announced a new plan for newly hired state employees. He shockingly has adopted a retirement plan for these new people straight out of the Conservative handbook. His plan is to offer new hires an option of a 401-k (employee contribution retirement plan) or a very scaled down pension plan.
As a conservative that has been pushing this idea for decades, it's amazing to finally see a Democrat come to his senses. Although this is a small step, it still shows some flexibility in Mr. Cuomo's politics. Unlike our President, who is more of an ideologue and not willing to bend proving that he's not very American nor political, more dictatorial.
Of course, Conservatives have pushed this idea on a grander scale by suggesting we allow all Americans this duel option, Social Security or their own expanded retirement option, similar to a 401-k.
I feel it would be wise at this juncture in the electoral process, since the more moderate of Democrats are starting to experiment with good old common horse sense, that our Presidential candidates float this trial ballon again. And when the far Left loons start screaming, we can always point to the new Conservative Governor of New York Andrew Cuomo.

An analysis by highly regarded Wall Street financial analyst Charles K. Ortel predicts weak economic growth and disappointing private investment returns in the U.S. economy during 2012 and for the foreseeable future.
What is startling about Ortel’s economic analysis is the rapidity with which his dire economic and political forecasts are being realized on the front pages of newspapers worldwide.
On Jan. 13 the credit rating agency Standard & Poor’s downgraded nine eurozone countries, including France and Austria, with the Financial Times in London reporting in words Ortel himself could have crafted that the downgrade “reignited fears about the fiscal sustainability of the eurozone.”

He further predicts that “the governing pole of political discourse” will shift from the traditional “left-right” divide to a new contrast between the “young” and the “old” in developed nations. He points out that a proportionately smaller number of young workers stressed both with sizeable debt from educational expenses and diminished job opportunities are forced to support a growing pool of seniors with extensive retirement benefits.
“The transformation of a contented and silent Majority into an irascible and vocal Majority will break many conventions in the United States and in other developed nations as incontrovertible evidence piles up weekly and perhaps daily over coming months that the status quo is broken for young and for old, as well as for workers and investors alike,” he warns.
Ortel foresees that civil unrest will intensify in the United States and in other developed nations that have been following ineffective, re-distributive economic paths for decades, including the creation of elaborate European-style social welfare programs providing extensive government-funded benefits to a wide range of increasingly dependent constituencies.
“In our view, the stage has already been set for continuation of protests that first began to surge in 2010,” he writes. “Some will manage to contain their activities to peaceful protests. However, we believe the far more likely scenario is that violence will result, especially in the United States where the wider population has more ready access to weaponry and where mobs have proven impossible to restrain.
Economic concerns ahead in 2012
Ortel believes the macro-economic and geo-political situation at the start of 2012 is actually more stressed than it was in August 2008, when the current global economic downturn began.

Specifically, Ortel identifies the following financial challenges to investors:
Governments could be forced, on short notice, to inject $2 trillion to $3 trillion or more just to stabilize selected large financial institutions in the developed world during 2012.
Investors will then grow to question the soundness of the largest central banks that constitute the core foundation for the global financial system.
The United States will forfeit its accepted right to issue dollars for use as the world’s reserve currency.
The euro project has failed -- a three-tier euro structure is inevitable.
The Chinese economic miracle has arguably run its course -- correcting natural excesses will retard and further disrupt global economic growth for more than a few years.
Before November 2012, the market will appreciate that the U.S. election will not produce a “clear winner” in the contest between re-distributive government and responsible free enterprise.
Key protagonists in the United States will not get realistic soon enough about the gravity of the debt crisis.
Nor does Ortel believe the U.S. political system has the will or the ability to reduce U.S. debt to levels enjoyed in previous presidential administrations.
Since 1974, total government debt in the U.S. has risen from a low of 37.8 percent of G.D.P. to 80.5 percent in 2010 -- a level that remains well under the peak of 118.4 percent reached in 1945 at the conclusion of World War II.
“The mammoth debt reduction (more than $15 trillion) and/or private labor income gain (more than $2.5 trillion) required to bring the U.S. debt ratio into line with levels experienced during the Clinton administration seem almost beyond ready comprehension,” Ortel concludes.
“The gaps between present reality and either the Reagan/Bush I era or the Carter period are even more terrifying.”

An Internet Blackout Over SOPA and PIPA

As of midnight, Wikipedia is shut down for 24 hours, and hundreds of other popular websites have gone dark right along with it. They are standing together in protest of two controversial pieces of legislation that threaten Internet security and undermine the freedom of speech all in an effort to crack down on online "piracy" -- the illegal distribution of copyrighted material.

Hollywood, the music industry, and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce have gone to bat on behalf of the proposed laws on the grounds that they will help protect valuable copyrighted property. And while the goal is laudable, the ends don't justify the means. The Stop Online Piracy Act and the Protect IP Act have far-reaching consequences for the Internet's infrastructure, individual liberties, and innovation in the digital age.

Under the laws, upon a court order, third-party companies and websites would be forced to crack down on rogue websites -- and even ones that unwittingly host or link to material that may violate copyrights or trademarks, whether or not they have knowledge of the violation. Internet service providers would be required to block Internet addresses of offending sites -- a measure that Internet engineers warn could threaten Internet security. Search engines would be prohibited from including pirate sites in search results, a requirement that goes well beyond current law and may, in fact, violate the First Amendment. Heritage's James Gattuso and Paul Rosenzweig explain ramifications:
[L]imits on speech here are almost certain to be extended to other cases. If links to pirate sites are banned, why not links to sites disseminating national security secrets? Or sites "facilitating" violence by propagating extreme political positions? Moreover, other countries that have pursued content controls of their own, such as China, may be encouraged by steps in the U.S. to limit content.

It is concerns like these that have caused a firestorm in the online world, leading Wikipedia to declare that the laws "would be devastating to the free and open web" and prompting Google to campaign against the laws on its highly trafficked search engine. Meanwhile, PC Magazine reports that co-founders of top tech firms like Twitter, Google, Yahoo, and eBay wrote an open letter opposing the laws, arguing that they would undermine the "regulatory climate that promotes entrepreneurship, innovation, the creation of content and free expression online."

Here's why: Under the laws, websites like Facebook, with its hundreds of millions of users, or YouTube, where 48 hours of video are uploaded every minute, would now be accountable for all content posted on their sites. As a result, websites would be discouraged from engaging in speech or from providing a forum where others can do the same. That, in turn, will stifle innovation--the lifeblood of the economy. One study showed that among 200 venture capitalists and angel investors, almost all would stop funding digital media intermediaries if these laws are enacted.

Setting aside the burden the laws would impose on the freedom of speech and innovation, they don't even make practical sense. Trying to block content online is tantamount to blocking the Mississippi River with a two-by-four. It can't be done. Countries like Iran routinely censor content, yet information still flows through--oftentimes with the help of the United States. This attempt to crack down on pirated material is a futile effort by industries that are suffering at the hands of a technology that has surpassed it, much like when Hollywood was up in arms over VCRs in the 1980s and when the music industry threw a fit over MP3 players in the late 1990s.

The Internet is the greatest engine for free speech and innovation ever known to humankind. Certainly its power can be used for good as well as bad, but censoring content, jeopardizing the security of the Internet, and stifling innovation is not the answer for protecting intellectual property rights.

U.S. Department of Justice Serves as Lap-dog for the Muslim Brotherhood

Documents recently released by the Department of Justice in response to a Freedom of Information Act request show members of groups linked to the radical Muslim Brotherhood treating agency officials like “errand boys” who fulfill their every request, and setting them up to perform “gofer” duties, says researcher and activist Pamela Geller.
“In a rational society, these Muslim Brotherhood-linked groups would be marginalized,” Geller told WND. “Instead, the DOJ is playing ‘stepin fetchit’ for them. They’re using the DOJ as their legal arm.”
Founded in Egypt in response to the fall of the Ottoman-Turkish Empire at the end of World War I, the Muslim Brotherhood has declared it aims to destroy Western Civilization from within in an effort ultimately to bring about Islam’s rule over the world.
Geller is the publisher of AtlasShrugs.com and the author of the WND Books title “Stop the Islamization of America: A Practical Guide to the Resistance” and “The Post American Presidency: The Obama’s Administration’s war on America,” published by Simon Schuster.
Geller explained that she filed the request about one year ago, asking for “records relating to the meeting of the ‘Monthly Outreach Meeting’ with Muslim and Arab groups at the Civil Rights Division.”
“The DOJ even takes lunch orders and picks up the tab, and in some cases asks them how much money they need for a little soiree they’re holding. It is astonishing,” she said, describing the documents.
Geller said she immediately was struck by the sheer bulk of the material, with more than 14,000 documents showing nearly daily contact between the Justice Department and Hamas-linked Muslim Brotherhood groups.
“One thing is clear,” she said, “the Muslim Brotherhood has fully infiltrated command and control at the Department of Justice Civil Rights Division.”
Geller noted that a knowledgeable Justice Department affirmed that the sheer volume was remarkable, declaring there are “very few things in Civil Rights that would generate 14,000 pages of anything. It has got to be a treasure trove of information.”
The emails showed a casual familiarity between members of groups such as the Islamic Society of North American, the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee and senior officials of the Department of Justice, all the way up to Assistant Attorney General Tom Perez.
“They discuss lunch, vacations, job changes -- always with the Muslim Brotherhood groups pushing their narrative, even in these casual exchanges.”
Even more striking, she said, “was the servile demeanor” of Civil Rights Division special counsel Eric Treene and “the demanding condescension of Muslim Brotherhood operatives.”
Treene at one point asks Mohamed Elsanousi of ISNA to circulate among ISNA operatives an invitation to a DOJ seminar on Federal Laws Protecting Religious Freedom.
The DOJ named ISNA, the Council on American-Islamic Relations and other key Muslim groups and figures as unindicted co-conspirators in a scheme to fund the Palestinian terrorist group Hamas. Evidence in the case, the largest of its kind in American history, showed CAIR was created as a front for the Brotherhood and Hamas in the U.S.
The DOJ holds “inter-agency meetings” with Muslim Brotherhood groups on a regular basis, Geller noted. The emails show Treene circulating issues to be discussed at the meetings that have been submitted by the Islamic groups
For a May 10, 2010 meeting, for example, Treene sent out a memo regarding “concerns about increase in hate crimes following the Times Square Plot, in particular Jacksonville mosque bombing, Michigan mosque vandalism, and taxi driver assault in San Diego.”
Another request was for update on the “status of March 2002 raids on Northern Virginia charities.”
Another was regarding “questions about measures to prevent profiling in Times Square bombing investigation.”
Geller commented that in response to a massive bomb attack plot in New York that would have dwarfed 9/11, the DOJ was circulating the recommendations of the Muslim Public Affairs Council.
“The response is not how to defeat jihad,” she said. “Instead, Americans are attacked again with the false narrative of an ant-Muslim backlash.”
In a Feb. 17, 2011, email, Treene sent ISNA’s Elsanousi the phone number of the U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Florida, Pam Marsh, who, he says, “wants to do some interfaith outreach” in light of Florida Pastor Terry Jones’s “Put the Quran on Trial Day.”
CAIR’s Julie Shearson wrote to Treene on Oct. 25, 2010: “We really appreciate your outreach to us.”
Geller called the “depth and the breadth of the penetration is difficult to fathom until you see all of these documents going back and forth, and the players.” Geller said.
Among the group are CAIR co-founder and director Nihad Awad, Suhail Khan -- who accepted an award in 2000 from the now-imprisoned al-Qaida financier Abdurrahman Alamoudi - and the Muslim Guantanamo chaplain James Yee.
Yee, along with three others, was charged with sedition, aiding the enemy, spying, espionage and failure to obey a general order.
The charges later were dropped when Maj. Gen. Geoffrey Miller cited “national security concerns that would arise from the release of the evidence.”
Yee, Geller noted, gave an interview on Syrian television in Arabic in which he repeated detainees’ lies of Quran abuse by the U.S. military.
Awad, Khan, Yee and many others received a Sept. 8, 2011, letter from Perez touting all the Justice Department’s actions on behalf of Muslims, including a suit against the city of Lilburn, Ga., for resisting the expansion of a mosque and a friend-of-the-court brief calling for dismissal of a suit brought by Murfreesboro, Tenn., citizens against a mosque proposed by Islamic supremacists.
The agenda of the Oct. 14, 2011, “Interagency Meeting” included “NYPD intelligence gathering,” “anti-Shariah legislation” and the Alex Odeh murder investigation.
Odeh, the West Coast director of the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee, was killed by a pipe bomb in 1985. The perpetrator has never been found, but the ADC claims that the Jews were responsible. Failure to find a suspect, the group contends, is evidence that the Justice Department discriminates against “Palestinians.”
Muslim groups repeatedly have pressed the Justice Department to reopen the case to show that Muslims are not the only ones who commit acts of terror, Geller pointed out.
“So here we have Islamic supremacist groups using the DOJ to go after Jews,” she said, and the “servile” Treene “compliantly put this matter on the agenda of one of his many meetings to hear the demands of Muslim groups.”
Geller said here findings are just the tip of the iceberg.
“Freedom lovers need to demand that our government cut off all ties with Hamas-linked Muslim Brotherhood groups,” she said. “We need to demand of our elected officials that this foolish and destructive collaboration cease.”

Obama's Plan to Steal the 2012 Election No Matter What the Vote Is!!!

DrJohn says a pair of articles from the Washington Times make clear that the White House has a plan for the 2012 election, and that is to guarantee victory for Obama regardless of the outcome of the vote. A large part of it depends on Eric Holder and his continual bastardization of the law.

The first comes from Robert Knight and his account of why democrats despise voter id laws:

Assistant AG Thomas Perez, the same official who terminated the Black Panther voter intimidation case, ordered South Carolina to stop enforcing its voter photo ID law. South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson explained precisely why the law is necessary:

The state Department of Motor Vehicles audited a state Election Commission report that said 239,333 people were registered to vote but had no photo ID. The DMV found that 37,000 were deceased, more than 90,000 had moved to other states, and others had names not matched to IDs. That left only 27,000 people registered without a photo ID, but who could vote by signing an affidavit as to their identity.

Contrary to left wing claims, requiring photo ID has not been shown to suppress voter ID:

A bipartisan Commission on Federal Election Reform in 2005 chaired by former President Jimmy Carter and former U.S. Secretary of State James A. Baker III found no evidence that requiring photo IDs would suppress the minority vote. The panel recommended a national photo ID system and a campaign to register voters.

The second article comes from Jeffrey Kuhner. Against the backdrop of the Carter/Baker report (of which Holder appears to be completely ignorant) Eric Holder plays the race card for South Carolina:

Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. claims Jim Crow is returning. In a recent speech, Mr. Holder said that attempts by states to pass voter identification laws will disenfranchise minorities, rolling back the clock to the evil days of segregation. He said that a growing number of minorities fear that "the same disparities, divisions and problems" now afflict America as they did in 1965 prior to the Voting Rights Act. According to the Obama administration, our democracy is being threatened by racist Republicans. Hence, the Justice Department must prevent laws requiring a photo ID to vote from being enacted.

Holder’s argument has no foothold in reality.

Kuhner points out that Holder’s real problem is that photo ID laws will impair ACORN’s ability to conduct fraud:

Mr. Holder evidently wants to scuttle ID laws because he knows which organization will be hurt most: ACORN. For years, community activist groups, such as the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, have engaged in massive electoral fraud -- registering illegal aliens, offering bribes to numerous politically disinterested people in the inner cities as inducements to vote and pushing underage and multiple voting. Election reform, therefore, is a stake aimed at the heart of Democratic corruption and ACORN’s power. Clean up the voter rolls and Obama’s re-election is in serious jeopardy.

Free photo ID cards are made available to anyone who needs one in South Carolina as are absentee votes for those who would trouble getting to the polls. Additionally, in blocking the South Carolina law Holder runs afoul of stare decisis:

Moreover, the Supreme Court already has ruled on the issue -- upholding state voter ID laws. In the 2008 Crawford v. Marion County Election Board decision, the high court held that an Indiana law mandating photo identification at the voting booth was indeed constitutional. If it is good enough for the Supreme Court and the overwhelming majority of the states, then it should be for Holder as well.

Holder claims that requiring a photo ID is tatamount to a poll tax but that is laughable:

"He has a particularly hard time explaining how the South Carolina requirement of government-issued photo identification amounts to a 'poll tax' when the state has also made provisions to provide that identification, free of charge. Hear that, Mr. Attorney General? The only thing the voter has to do is show up and get his or her photo taken. And if that’s too much darn trouble well, then, that person can do something else on election day."

Why is too burdensome to show up and obtain a photo ID but not too burdensome to show up to vote?

The ducks are aligning in a row. Blocking the South Carolina law will allow ACORN and other left wing operations to run amuck with voter fraud. The problem is that election fraud is a Federal offense, and that’s where Holder becomes critical. I fully expect no end to election chicanery on the part of the ACORN and the left, whether it involves "finding" lost votes as in Minnesota, printing out enough democrat ballots to guarantee a victory, forging signatures, or forging more signatures. I also expect that Holder would dismiss out of hand all claims beneficial to Obama and democrats and pursue only those in which the outcomes favored Republicans.

Ultimately the job of the Attorney General of the United States is protect the law from abuse but it is painfully clear that Eric Holder was appointed to protect abuse from the law.

Justice John Paul Stevens wrote:

”There is no question about legitimacy or importance of a state ‘s interest in counting only eligible voters.”

The integrity of the vote means nothing to Holder. Eric Holder would not know integrity if it bit him in the ass.

And that’s exactly why he was appointed.

Keith Koffler is reporting that Senior White House adviser Valerie Jarrett apparently has Secret Service protection.
This is highly unusual, and of course, costly. I’ve never really heard of someone who is merely a senior White House aide getting assigned Secret Service agents.
My understanding is that at the senior levels of the Bush White House, at least during the latter days, only the president and his family, the vice president, the chief of staff, the national security adviser, and the homeland security adviser were assigned Secret Service agents.
It’s possible that Jarrett has received enough specific and credible threats to justify Secret Service protection, or that the Secret Service has for some other reason calculated that she needs bodyguards. But it’s also possible this is a case of oddly overdoing it -- and overusing taxpayer resources.
Is she really such a public figure? I’m sure 90 percent of Americans have little to no idea who she is. White House Press Secretary Jay Carney is far better known and spends his time warning terrorists and our foreign adversaries about bad behavior while trumpeting the killing of Osama Bin Laden. I’m sure he does not have protection.
According to a local report, Jarrett was accompanied by at least two Secret Service agents during her pre-Martin Luther King Day appearance in Atlanta Sunday, where she bashed Republicans in church.
One source of mine, who is knowledgeable about what a Secret Service detail would look like, said he spotted Jarrett at Reagan National Airport with her protection as she departed Washington just before Christmas.
After watching her blow past a long line at the security gate, he noticed she had one Secret Service agent in back and the other in front, with someone who was possibly a third agent to her side.
