Ninjago: Lego Ninja sets now available

Lego has released it’s latest series of new sets called Ninjago. These Lego Ninjas have a fierce battle to fight. There are four types of Ninja:Lightning,Fire,Ice, and Earth.

These four Ninjago must fight some pretty nasty bad guys. These Skeleton warriors of evil will give the Ninjago a mighty fight.

The new sets look really cool. There is a card game as well. You get a minifigure and a few cards for the game. This is a really cool idea.

More Lego Ninja Madness

Since getting the Indiana Jones set with the bandit minifigure, The Lego Kid has been in high gear with the ninja play. The bandit is now a ninja and The Lego Kid has made several other ninja type characters.

Here we have the ninja with Indy ready to battle the dragon after taking care of a bad guy.

Hold on, what’s that in the barrel? Ninja, Indy, Look out, it’s a bandit.

He looks mean but Indy and the ninja can handle it.

The Lego ninja heads back to the Ninja Training Camp to get some rest and work on his skills. He brought his friend the weird fish man which was found in the Lego Deadliest Catch session.

He also found a Lego Sword Fish. Get it, Swordfish.

Thanks to R2-D2 for filming all of this great Lego Ninja action.

Lego Universe Pre order is open

You can now pre order Lego Universe. The game will ship later in the year but your pre order gets you a code to play as the limited edition spaceman.mini figure.

The official launch date is October 26th but pre ordering will get you early access on October 12th. You can only get the game in the Lego Online Shop or Official Lego Retail Stores.

Lego kid's new lego indy set

The Lego Kid had a visit from his Nana today. She took him to get a new small Lego set because that’s whant Nana’s do. The Lego Kid has been on a Lego Indana Jones kick since he got the Lego Indy 2 game so he chose the Lego Indana Jones set 7195 Ambush In Cairo. This is a small set but it comes with four minifigures. You get Indy, Marion, and two bad guys. The reason The Lego Kid wanted this so bad is because one of the bad guys looks like a Ninja.

You get a cool little cart, a fruit stand with a gold bowl full of Lego Apples, and barrel. Marion also has a frying pan which she used in the movie to knock out one of the bad guys. Not a bad deal for $10

Lego Indiana Jones 2

Well the Lego Kid has not been doing a lot of creating lately. He has spent a great deal of time this past week with his new game. We found Lego Indiana Jones 2 at a local store for $20. This was too good to pass up.

This game is very different from the previous Lego games. You still play levels, collect studs to try and get “True Adventurer” and unlock characters and vehicles. The structure of the game is a little different though.

You start out in common areas which aren’t levels but still hold hidden items which you can collect to unlock other items. You can play the levels in story mode, but when you go back to play in Treasure mode, you will need characters with certain abilities. In the previous games, you entered the level in free play with all the characters you needed, not so in Lego Indy 2. The other cool feature is the split screen. In the first Lego Indy, if you strayed too far from each other one got pulled toward the other. In Lego Indy 2 the screen will split and you can each do your own thing.

The coolest new feature is the build your own level section. You can create a level complete with traps, vehicles, creatures, hidden items, and weapons. The Lego Kid had the great ideal of creating a capture the flag ty0pe level. We each built a fort with a a crystal skull buried in it. We had to try to navigate the traps and obstacles of each others Lego Forts to get to the prize.

This is a great game with lots of different types of game play. At $40 it’s still a worthwhile buy but if you can grab it for $20 you will be a happy camper.

How not to clean up Lego’s

Ok, so we had that picture of the giant mess of lego’s on the Lego Kid’s floor last week. I knew it would be a task to clean it up. Well after that, Lego Kid had friends over and and they did in fact clean up. It wasn’t the best clean up job.

We had originally bought this desk thinking that it would be a great place for the Lego Kid to build his sets. It soon became the place to put the sets up at the end of the day. Now it seems that this is the Lego bone yard where old sets go to die.

I realize that I’m am partially responsible so I will be trying to help the Lego Kid make some sense of this pile of little plastic bricks.

Lego Kid strikes again

This weekend the Lego Kid did some lego madness. We created a cool assault vehicle with Dastan as the driver.

This thing is part tractor, part tank, and all cool. It has some missiles on the front, a heavy cannon, and two storm trooper blasters on either side of the drivers cage.

For some reason the Lego Kid thought it would be cool to put the little blue ninja on the back.

This thing can handle anything. The drivers cage turns all the way around so Dastan can take out any bad guys sneaking up behind him while he is still moving forward.

Lego Amp

Since I posted last month about the Lego Guitar I have been thinking about music related Lego’s. Once again the world of Lego and music collide with Lego Instruments.

Here we have a very detailed Lego amplifier. This is an amazing creation. It has all the bits and pieces that go inside the amp too. This creation by Dave Chatterson first appeared in the Fender site last spring. You can check out the whole story and more pics there

Lego Deadliest Catch

Ok so we watched a lot of the Discovery Channel’s Deadliest Catch marathon over the Memorial Day Weekend. Since we enjoyed watching the crab boats in action we thought we’d make one out of Lego’s.

This boat is very much inspired by the Northwestern. Unfortunately we couldn’t make a Lego Sig or Lego Edgar to work on the boat. The boat is complete with a pot launcher and crane. I don’t know how the crab fishing is but it looks like they have found a giant octopus. Watch out guys,I think this octopus is the deadliest catch.

It looks like the giant 8 legged monster has gotten a hold of the boat.

While we were at it the Lego Kid also created a strange little fish man. Pretty cool huh.

Saturday Lego madness

The Lego Kid was busy building a new training facility and secret hideout for ninja's. This has some cool training equipment and a secret door into the hideout.

The TaunTaun is just a pet but they do use him to train by racing him.

Here we have some training going on. These mechanical devices help Lego Ninjas hone their skills.

Lego earthquake

Lego’s can be used to make lots of things. Cars, planes, buildings. People even use Lego's to make movies. That’s nothing new. I’ve seen all kinds of Lego movies. This is a first, it’s almost like a public service announcement. This is a video depicting what can happen during an earthquake and what you should do.

Entertaining and educational. This is great and it was made by a kid so it has a pretty cool feel to it.

The Lego Kid Gets Spoiled

Well The Lego Kid had a visit from Lego Grandma yesterday. He managed to talk her into a new lego set. That’s nothing new but usually it’s one of the smaller $5-$10 sets. The Lego Kid really turned on the charm and talked her into one of the new Prince of Persia sets.

He got set 7571, the fight for the dagger. This set comes with several minifigures including Dastan and Princess Tamina.

There are a couple of traps built into the market tower which you pull a pin to drop the minifigure off of the balcony, or drop the floor out. Pretty cool.

Lego Pinball

How cool is this. A pinball machine made out of Lego’s. Built by Mark Gryn for the Science Rendezvous at the University of Windsor, the table is made of more than 8000 bricks. Everyday I am amazed by what I see people making out of these colorful plastic bricks.

Lego Kid Creations -The bounty hunters

For a few weeks now me and The Lego Kid have been making our own Star Wars bounty hunters. They have various small ships and speeders to fly around on. Each one has it’s own set of tools to get the job done. Here are the latest.

This little guy is pretty much a good bounty hunter. He tracks down escaped prisoners and usually works for the Space Police. While his speeder is small it is light and easy to fly. This helps him get into the back alleys of the underworld to catch the bad guys.

Our next bounty hunter is also a good guy. He used to be a Space Police agent and now works for them on the tougher cases. He has a fast speeder that is loaded with some missiles to help blast his way out of a bad situation.

This guy is a real mystery. He is part Jedi, part Sith, and a bounty hunter who works for whoever pays the most. He has a police speeder which he may or may not have stolen. Nobody actually knows where he comes from and you can only find him if he wants to be found.

This bounty hunter is all bad. He works for bad guys collecting their debts and chasing down bad guys who stole from bad guys. He is the worst of the worst. His speeder is loaded with missiles and extra blaster making him a one man army.

Here we have a former Clone Trooper that escaped from the Empire and is now a bounty hunter. He only works in far off systems to avoid being caught by the Empire and put in jail. His missions are usually not very dangerous, usually collecting on unpaid parking tickets and people with un-registered wamp rats as pets.

Out last bounty hunter is really more of a pirate than a bounty hunter. While he does do work collecting bounties he spends a lot of time just taking over ships. He likes a good old fashioned sword fight but isn’t afraid to take a ship down with a plasma grenade.

Buzz into spring

Well it’s spring and I thought I would check out some other creations by fellow Lego fans. Over at the MOCpages I found a couple of cool Lego bees that fit right in with spring.

This little buzzing brick creation by Tina Urso has found himself a flower to keep him buzzy, I mean busy.

Oscar Verbeek’s bee looks like it could be right out of A bugs life. The smile on his face tells me that this bee won’t sting.

This happy little bug has some big eyes. Thanks to Chris Trosclair for this creative take on natures busiest bug.

The Lego Kid’s giant fortress

The Lego Kid decided to take things to a new level over the weekend. After seeing some other cool Lego forts on the internet he decided he wanted to make a giant fort out of some of his sets.

We took the main part of his Castle set, a part of the Pirate Fort, a few odd buildings we put together ourselves and a few boats.
