Lenny LeBlanc will be in concert with us in August. Tickets are being sold here at The Light. Tickets are 12.00 each (free for children six and under) The concert will be at Maranatha Christian Church on August 21st. Doors open at 6, concert starts at 7:00PM. Neither Rain Nor…

On Friday morning, July 3rd, we hit the road again and set up in St. Johnsbury where we met with a lot of folks from all over the Northeast Kingdom, the Littleton area, and even had a family drive up from Springfield (“we’ve got the day off – what do you want to do?” “Let’s go see Bob in St. Johnsbury!”…I love it.) Despite the drizzle and fog, we had a great time visiting with the folks from The Fold, Jackie’s House, New Beginnings Church, Covered Bridge and found out about a new kids’ ministry on Eastern Avenue called Connect With Kids. I’m impressed with the Biblical knowledge of our listeners who played our Bible trivia game. We did actually stump one of the pastors who came by (I won’t say who). And Cheryl from Barnet used our “unfair advantage” to dial up just in time to win a 4-day pass bracelet to Soulfest.
When we packed up at around 9:30 (people kept coming!) we visited some of our local supporters like George and Susie at 5-Star Auto Body, Carrie and Bill at Emma & Company Consignments in Littleton and Linda at Heaven’s Gate Christian Bookstore. Thanks to everyone who came by – next stop: Rutland! We’ll be at Dan Turcott Yamaha on Route 7 on August 18th. The Concert For The Light: Thanks!

Amazing Grace Jam encore!

The Concert For The Light ‘09 is now history and what a night it was. Our thanks to all the bands, the musicians, the singers, the sound and lighting crews, a platoon of volunteers and the folks who kept us fed throughout the day. What an effort and it came off so smoothly! Thanks to Union Baptist Church for allowing us to essentially take over their entire building for a day and to New Beginnings Church for their sponsorship and other support. And we are grateful for the generosity of the people who literally filled the auditorium and the balcony and donated approximately $5,000.00 to support the radio ministry. Praise God!
We’re already planning the 2010 edition. Details to follow!

The Concert For The Light ‘09

It’s back! It’s bigger, it’s better and it’s happening on June 20th in St. Johnsbury!

Join us for the second annual Concert For The Light fundraising concert with some of the biggest Christian power bands in New England:

- September Rain
- CrossRoad
- Mark Shelton
- Adrian Otterman and Over Orange Heights
- Chad Perron

…with the Worship Dance Team from New Beginnings Church in St. Johnsbury and comic Lucien Dufresne.

This will be an incredible night of music, comedy and dance. We had such a great response last year, this year it should be all that and more. You’ll hear the amazing harmonies of September Rain as they blend their voices for their beautiful and unmistakable sound. CrossRoad will bring their guitar-driven renditions of contemporary Christian covers and classics, you’ll be on your feet and singing along. Mark Shelton is well-known for his dynamic music and powerful tenor voice, we’re so pleased that “Captain Radical” is part of this year’s line-up. Over Orange Heights have just released their album “Floating In The Whale” and will contribute their unique, cello-mixed rock sound. Chad Perron will bring an acoustic interlude between bands harmonizing with his wife in sets between bands.

Lucien Defresne is “that comic” you’ve been hearing about. Lucien will be partnering with Bob Pierce from The Light as emcee and will share some of his hilarious ”backwoods Vermont” comedy.

And the Worship Dance Team from New Beginnings Church will add an extra dimension to the worshipful atmosphere with a beautifully-choreographed performance.

Admission is free, we’ll take a love offering to help support the ministry of The Light Radio Network. There will also be CDs and t-shirts available and we’ll be doing a prize drawing during intermission.

Make sure you mark your calendar and don’t miss The Concert For The Light, June 20th at 6:00 (doors open at 5:00) at Union Baptist Church on Rte. 5 in St. Johnsbury – all your friends will be there – join us!

Splash into Summer with Word of Life and The Light

The Light and Word of Life would like to give children an opportunity to enjoy camp this summer. Send us a poem about summer or just a note about why going to a Christian camp is important to you. We have ordered brand new transmitters and other assorted equipment for a MAJOR UPGRADE for St Johnsbury 90.5 and for Pico Peak 91.7 . PRAISE THE LORD!

Lord willing by the end of summer we will have everything installed and you will hear an incredible difference in the quality and stability of our 90.5 WCKJ and 91.7 WGLV signals. Thanks for your prayers and your financial support.

Just Like Mike

It’s a pretty exciting time right now. I got back from Nashville a little over a week ago and my wife, Stephanie and I had a great time. We met a lot of folks, including Mike Weaver of the band Big Daddy Weave. Steph shot the picture – not bad, eh? It’s the third picture she’s ever taken with my digital camera. When I got back I gave away a whole bunch of tickets to the upcoming MercyMe concert along with some of their CDs. I even got to interview Bart Millard! I love my job.

So what’s next? Well, the concert’s coming up in about three weeks on the night of the 29th. I’ll be in Barre to do a live remote broadcast between 4:00 and 5:00 that afternoon. Listen to the Good Morning Radio Show for details about where I’ll be and any special announcements! The next evening, in Montpelier, is the Hoppers concert, also being put on by the folks at Websterville Baptist Christian School.

We’re also getting geared up for The Concert For The Light on June 20th. My band, CrossRoad will be playing along with September Rain, Mark Shelton, Over Orange Heights and Chad Perron. Comedian Lucien Dufresne is going to help out as emcee with his unique comic style. Make sure you mark your calendar and don’t miss this amazing event.
