MGMT - Flash Delirum

MGMT is releasing their sophomore album, Congratulations, on April 13th under Columbia Records. I saw them at Lollapalooza summer 2008 when they were getting huge at the time and they were awesome. Remixes have been flying around everywhere and they were being played by popular DJ’s like Crookers, etc. After getting a glimpse of this track, I don’t know how to feel about MGMT anymore. I used to be a fan of them but now I’m just indifferent about them. Maybe it’s just me because I was so used to Oracular Spectacular and that’s how I viewed their sound. It might be just me but we’ll see how it goes when the album comes out and see what other people think. Oh yeah, what’s up with the album cover? Sonic the Hedgehog remake?

What is this band getting into? :(

Alright so I know we wrote a post about Ellie Goulding before but this is a legitimate reason now. She just released her album called “Lights” and its ridiculously good. I’ve been following her since square one with her tracks “Starry Eyed” & “Guns and Horses” from like spring 2008. The original tracks sound a bit different than the album versions but that doesn’t really matter anyways. She’s an electroacoustic pop artists from the UK and been blowing up in the music scene through her track’s and remixes. Especially with Jakwob’s dubstep remixes of Starry Eyed and Under the Sheets. Anyways her tracks are good and well, look at her, so cute! If I were you guys, I would get the album. Here’s some tracks for your tastes buds.

Ahhh I don’t know too much of detail about them except they’re Italian and make good music. Crookers initially started out separate DJ’s. They were known as DJ Phra and DJ Bot. Since 2003, they’ve have been drawing upon their collective musical backgrounds to create tracks that twist, startle and surprise with synthetic pop. I’ve been following them for awhile but what got my attention was like two years ago when Kid Cudi wasn’t even that big. They did a remix of Day n Night and it was on electro mixes everywhere. A year later everyone knew about Kid Cudi because of that track and now he’s big. Weird.

Anyways, Crookers is releasing a new album called “Tons of Friends” and it features a lot of artists from like Will I Am, Pitbull, Miike Snow, Major Lazer, Spank Rock, The Very Best, Rye Rye, etc. It’s coming out March 8th so get on it!

Major Lazer are duo DJ’s that consist of Diplo & Switch. They’ve been bringing some of the better dancehall and 2-step music to the scene lately. Diplo, is from Philly, and Switch from Birmingham proved the point that they can bring some good dance music.

We saw them at the Electric Factory over last summer for their CD release party and it was sweet. We got to meet Diplo & Switch and they were real cool. During that show too, we even talked to A-Trak. The show was pretty much a huge party. Barcardi was giving out drinks and things.

Anyways, Major Lazer has their recent album Guns Don’t Kill People…Lazers Do, and they’re coming with a new EP. I know this might be old new’s but from what Diplo said from his twitter and Mad Decent have been saying, it’s official. This track features M.I.A. and Busy Signal. No offense, Pon de Floor is good but don’t kill it. This track is good.

MR. SPARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRKLE!

So lately, we’ve been pretty busy with school and whatnot. Just this past weekend we went to Philly to see Neon Indian & Memory Tapes. It was a great show and we got to interview both of them! And before that we went to Harrisburg, PA to do press for Koji & Kevin Devine. Very cool.

We have many many photo’s, video’s, and interviews to post. So without further ado, we’re going to be working on everything tonight!
