February 21^st – Savant Systems LLC, having delivered the first complete Apple®-based home automation and commercial control system, has acquired LiteTouch, Inc. of Salt Lake City, Utah, a highly respected industry pioneer in the residential and commercial lighting control marketplace since the late 1970s. Stone Cottage, a new construction project in the Hometime 2011 Series, was completely outfitted with a LiteTouch system. Dean and his team utilized the FIVEk Central Control Unit, twenty-eight Metropolitan Style keypads and various control modules. The system controls all lighting and includes preset scenes; pathways of light; master off; security flash; and astronomical clock timers, a feature using sunrise and sunset to optimize electricity usage.

In addition to the Stone Cottage project, LiteTouch worked with Dean and his team on a renovation to Shingle Cottage, a project completed in 1997.  The original system included an Elite Central Control Unit, S-Series Style keypads and various control modules. After fifteen years the LiteTouch system was performing seamlessly although updates were made to modernize keypad aesthetics and add advanced programming functions as well as lamp control. Only LiteTouch delivers an upgrade path to all systems ever installed.

LiteTouch now offers a new solution for keypads which require installation into humid environments.

The Humid Location Box was designed to protect LiteTouch Keypads from mild moisture conditions. The clear plastic lid allows for visibility of keypad engraved buttons while the almond backing conceals wiring. The Humid Location Box is a surface mount box which accommodates single gang column and wide keypads.

The Quad II Dimmer Module - LiteTouch's Newly Configured Control Module

Beginning January 31, 2012 all Quad Module orders will be shipped with the new LiteTouch Quad II Dimmer Module. Like the Quad Module, the Quad II is rated at 40 amps (4800 watts) at 120 VAC or 9600 watts at 240 VAC.

The new Quad II Module is installed as two separate 20 amp inputs which may be fed from breakers on different phases. Each output on the Quad II has reset-able load breakers for added protection and ease of maintenance, as well as individual manual override switches.

Warren has been focused on growing the residential lighting control and home automation industries since he entered the lighting control market place in 1998. Most recently Warren was the Regional Sales Manager for Crestron Electronics in the Florida & Caribbean Markets.  Prior to his focus on residential and commercial lighting control sales, Warren worked in the consumer electronics market for over 12 years representing quality brands such as Harman Kardon-JBL, Rockford Fosgate and Soundstream.

LiteWare4.1, is available for immediate download by LiteTouch Channel Partners worldwide.

Older projects designed and programmed in older versions of LiteWare can be opened in new LiteWare4.1.4, contact a Technical Support Associate for details.

Specifically, LiteTouch and Savant programmers will be able to import the lighting loads list from the LiteWare design and programming software file into the Racepoint Blueprint®, Savant design software.  The LiteWare LW4 file is converted using the Savant lightingFileToPlist or TrueImageBuilder, into an information table that can be imported into Racepoint Blueprint®, Savant design software.

This feature reduces the time and effort required to setup the LiteTouch lighting control system by creating a table for each lighting component in RacePoint Blueprint® to store the dynamic data required for that device. RacePoint Blueprint® will then use the table along with the component data table controller and a template screen to auto-populate a screen for the service.

The partnership between LiteTouch and Savant addresses the ever growing trade demand for innovative automation solutions. “This new tool will eliminate frustrating programming hours spent entering the loads table information into two software packages, a common time consumer when integrating two control systems,” said Sky Straw, LiteTouch Technical Support & Integration Manager.
