Playing catch up...

2013-04-19T09:16:00.002-05:00

So much to tell you about, so little time...

We were able to sneak off to Galveston for the night in February. Ken is now on staff at UTMB, so that the residents can come down to Corpus and do surgeries with him here. How cool is that?!? Professor Ken- I like it.

Plus he has seen some pretty crazy cases here. I am constantly in awe of what he does...

We met up with some of our favorite friends

Daddy ate at one of our favorite places,

Mommy shopped...

We got to see Baby Ellie and Mrs. Laura. Great visit- can't wait to go back in May!

Up next... Heart Ball

I was asked to be on the auction committee for The American Heart Associations Heart Ball and LOVED every minute of it. I met amazing people and really jumped right in to Corpus- not to mention the Ball was a lot of fun!

Our friends, The Davis were able to go too. It was a great night our for us all- raising money for an awesome organization.

Misty- my sweet Galveston & CC friend- our hubby's both finished at the same time and we both moved to Corpus within weeks of each other. I just wish I had known her longer in Galveston.

Another BIG milestone: Belle's 5th Birthday! The girls and I took her to get her yearly visit. I had great helpers that day! I am pretty sure the vet answered every "why?" question these 2 could think of while we were there.

Mattie still wants to be a "bunny doctor" when she grows up. Hailey wants to be a "mommy". Love the little hearts these 2 have.

Two little girls also got a 4 year check up...

Our stats:

Mattie

38lbs (75%)

42 in. (83%)

Hailey

34lbs (50%)

39in (48%)

They were real troopers-- but this picture was the calm before the storm-- no one warned me how TERRIBLE the 4 year visit is.... they each got 4 shots (2 in each leg). Mommy had to restrain them. Mattie went first- screamed like I have never heard. As Hailey saw this, she flipped out making her turn twice as hard- she fought me and the nurses. Needless to say, I earned that glass of wine that night.

Having 4 year old has been a ton of fun- they are learning and doing SO much. Here Hailey is showing Mattie how to button and unbutton her shirt.

Mattie has officially given up her thumb- PRAISE the Lord. At first it was a little rocky- she actually replaced her thumb with another finger, but thankfully we nipped that in the bud too. She is SO proud and so are we!

We are still LOVING gymnastics and dance.

Does this picture scream SASSY or what?!?!

They love to be pampered at the "fingernail store", but SO DOES MOMMY. This is one of the many reasons why I love having little girls. Another is:

The American Girl Doll fashion show in Temple, TX. My bestie, Katy, was the chairman for this event and it was beyond anything I could imagine. The girls LOVED being able to sit with their dolls and have a tea party.

Hailey wanted to be on stage so bad! Mattie kept asking her doll, "Are you having fun, baby?" It was adorable.

Huge success- SO PROUD of Mrs. Katy! We love you!

Real Live American Girl Dolls

Belle is still up to NO GOOD... ALL the time.

A big leap forward for Mattie was the addition of glasses! I noticed that her left eye would slightly look off sometimes when she stared at something. I was concerned, so we went to the Optometrist. Turns out she is farsighted and has astigmatism. She has done great with her glasses- I even let her pick them out. They are blue- of course!

I have to say, she looks adorable in them.

Hailey still loves Mommy's closet, especially my shoes. This is how she watches TV most days.

Happy Easter!

We celebrated with 3 Easter egg hunts, lots of food and fun!

We even had a little visit from our cousin, Cameron, Aunt Rachel, and Uncle Greg. It was so fun showing them around Corpus.

We had a family day at the beach- Ken did his annual "fry Ken" 1st burn. He looked like a LOBSTER!

Up next- EASTER... the girls loved talking about the Easter bunny coming, but just like Santa- Hailey wanted me to make sure he wouldn't come in our house- that I would meet him at the door and get the baskets... so I did :)

We had our 1st Easter brunch at the Corpus Christi Country Club- It was great! The Cutbirth's invited us to join them for lunch and a hunt. The girls had a blast!

They also introduced us to a South TX tradition- confetti eggs! It was great!

We have had lots of tea parties, lots of fun...

Cowgirl day at school

Even a Mommy night out with some of my favorite CC ladies!

Ken has gotten to do quite a bit of hunting when he isn't on call.

Mother/Daughter Tea Party at Tippi Toes

Our new swing set

POWERHOUSE, Mattie...

Learning to swing

and the sweetest of all- the glasses are helping Mattie see so that she too can learn to write her name.

XOXO,

It's happened beFOUR I knew it....

These two little lovebugs turned 4 years old!!!

I can't believe it! First of all- I think I should congratulate Ken and I- we made it the past 4 years with 2 babies... whew... Is there a medal for this? Kidding- I have LOVED every minute of being their mommy!

ICouldn't be more proud of these 2 girls- LOVE, LOVE, LOVE these 2!

Special friends- Landon and Bailey from school. We really enjoyed Brinca- bounce house with all of our new friends in Corpus!

Honey and PaPa even made the trip! They have been at EVERY party we have had for these 2- how special is that!!

Check it out- even the girl with the bum- BUM went down. (it hurt- but hey, you only turn 4 once!)

I didn't have a theme this year- since we had it at Brinca, but I did make cute little face cut outs for the cupcakes- I was super happy with how it turned out! :)

The first year no one cried when everyone sang!

SUCCESS!

The Baird's gave us precious jewelry boxes from Pottery Barn and Honey and PaPa gave us our first "real" piece of jewelry to put them! Do they know these 2 or what!!

Thanks everyone for praying for us, thinking of us, and celebrating with us the past four years! We have been very blessed by these two girls! We LOVE you all!

XOXO!

Slope style with Mattie

Mattie going down with Mommy!

Snow Bunnies: Steamboat Springs, CO

2013-03-10T15:32:00.000-05:00

Let's do this- 1st family vacation, post residency!! We decided that we would like for the girls to grow up skiing! I have always LOVED to ski and Ken has always loved to do anything that could possibly injury him. Ha!

After asking around, we decided on Steamboat- which was an amazing choice! We flew into Hayden, CO and caught our hotel shuttle. The girls are such great travelers! They are like their Mommy- we LOVE to be on the go!

In the snow the first time- these 2 LOVED it! I was so worried about them getting cold, and then not loving it, but those were wasted worries! THEY LOVED IT! Red face, cold fingers and noses, LOVED it! We even planned a little surprise for the girls and extra help for Ken and I, Grammy and Pop Pop drove up for a little vacation with us! I think we sold Pop Pop on trying to ski next time! :)

Mattie and Hailey attended snow school for 4 days! We originally signed them up for 3, but they had such a great time, they asked to go back. Their teacher Miss Lindsey, was amazing!

Watching these 2 ski was amazing!! They were adorable not to mention, pretty good! I will post a few videos.

Ken and I attended a ski school of our own- Ken wanted to learn to snowboard and I wanted to spend time with him. It was all fun and games until I broke my tailbone- literally- broke it.

Here I am- looking awesome....

But this was more the reality. All I was thinking- "why am I not skiing? I love skiing..."

On the 3rd day- i traded that ridiculous board for ski's and went out on my own and LOVED it! Ken took his 3rd lesson and really got good! Next time, he can have the board and I am sticking with skis. Lesson learned, donut owned, and still feel the pain almost 2 months later.

OUCH!

Mattie's Report Card skiing:

I loved that the girls got report cards! They really did do great!

Hailey's report card skiing:

One day, while I was recovering and Ken practiced snowboarding- we met Ken's parents and rode to the top of the Gondola- the view was awesome! We ate lunch up there. It was a great, grown up time!

We even had time for some tubing- I think that was Grammy and Pop-Pop's favorite part! They went down more than us! It was so fun to see and do with them.

These tubes brought out the kid in all of us!

After the last day of ski school- I decided that I was ready to attempt the big mountain with the girls! They did great and LOVED it. Having such a great experience only excites me for next year!

Mattie going down.

Hailey with Mommy

Here we all are after our last run in Steamboat.

I couldn't get over the sunset our last night in COLORADO.

Breathtakingly BEAUTIFUL!

What an amazing family vacation we had! Thank you Grammy and Pop Pop for helping us with the girls and experiencing the snow show with us! We love you!

Rest sweet girls- skiing definitely takes it out of you...

(notice all the lights are on- I thought they were watching TV).

XOXO

Happy New Year!

2013-02-18T20:47:00.001-06:00

Welcome 2013- We can't wait to see what this year has in store!

Unfortunately, none of us made it until midnight... but I think that is the life of preschool/doctor parents- our sleep is VALUABLE!!!!

XOXO

Christmas in Corpus

2013-02-17T21:11:00.001-06:00

Here is just a taste of our 1st Christmas in Corpus!

Happy Birthday, Jesus party at school! I LOVE that they bless their snack everyday. Yay for prayer/God in school!

Our sweet friends, Suzy (whose pose is precious) and Landon with Hailey bug!

Mattie and her sweet friend Will.

St. James also put on a Christmas pageant- if you want to get in the Christmas spirit, run don't walk to a children's pageant! IT was ADORABLE!!

I am biased, but I think 2 littles stars sure did shine bright! So proud of all these sweet friends!

The girls dance studio put on a little "candy cane performance".

It was SO cute!

Of course- we visited Santa and this year we actually sat on his lap!! LOVE

We attended our first tea party.

Celebrated with friends in our class.

Attended our Christmas Eve church service, where our pastor preached from a snowglobe.

We even got to be in one too! Super cool!

Twas the night before Christmas, Daddy reading the Christmas story.

Getting ready to be tucked in for a good nights sleep.

Gotta feed the reindeer... and cookies for Santa.

Looks like we had some very good girls this year.

I think Santa did good this year.

One last thing, our traditional "Happy Birthday, Jesus" cake.

Sneaky, sneaky...

Merry Christmas from our family to yours!

xoxo,

Introducing.... (way later than it should've been)

2012-12-19T23:45:00.002-06:00

This year- the girls decided SPIDERMAN should be the theme... so we did it- SPIDERMAN style!

We LOVE a good party and cake!

We hope you feel special Daddy!

We LOVE you!

XOXO

Trick or Treat, Smell my feet!

2012-12-19T18:54:00.000-06:00

This year we were all out PRINCESSES! This is our newest thing! We LOVE all things pink, purple, sparkly, and PRINCESS! We have princess beds, princess breakfasts, princess naps, you name it- this mom sticks "princess" in front of it and they love it!

Hailey- I mean: "Sweeping Booty" and Mattie as Rapunzel painted the Southside red!

These 2 were even able to get their Daddy to dress up as "Spiderman". This shirt on this man is an amazing accomplishment- you go girls!

We were able to go with a big group of friends we have made here in Corpus and their kid-os! Look at these cuties! I LOVE this photo.

We quickly got the hang of this... candy thing.

Hailey was a champ! I think she would still be going if it were up to her. Mattie on the other hand... after about 1/2 mile walk/house visits... she wanted to be held. So you do what a mommy does... I held her.

The most precious moment of the night was towards the end when we walked to the door of a sweet couples house and Mattie said "trick or treat, do you have any water?" I literally laughed outloud... out of the mouth of babes. The sweet lady went and got her a water bottle. Next year, I am coming prepared, Mattie- PROMISE.

After a long night- the LOOT!

The girls had a blast! What a great night!!

XOXO

October in a glance...

2012-12-19T18:31:00.000-06:00

It's been too long... her is a little bit of what we have been up to here in Corpus.

October kept us busy! We kicked off the Halloween season by visiting a PINK Pumpkin Patch in honor of breast cancer awareness. It was great. All pumpkins were sold for $20 and all profits went to breast cancer research. LOVE that!

Next up: St. James Preschool Pumpkin Patch

The headmaster read all 2 and 3 year olds a book. I love how mine made it front a center no doubt.

We each picked a pumpkin.

Had a great time with our new friends!

Mattie was SO proud she found the "tiniest" pumpkin in the patch.

Later that week, their school had a Fall Festival that was a hoot. It was our first cold front, so we had to cover the cute costumes- but once a princess- ALWAYS a princess.

Our sweet new friends, Olivia and Miss Rosie

Mattie loved the petting zoo, especially the bunny.

Hailey loved the games and was great at them!

We had a delicious dinner of funnel cakes and corn dogs!

The real highlight of the night was the train... We rode...

and rode...

and rode!

It was a great experience for the whole family!

XOXO

Kiss, Kiss chicks!

2012-11-19T22:35:00.000-06:00

Lots of LOVIN' to go around here!

Even hugs for baby T!

XOXO,

Celebrating "Baby T"

2012-11-19T21:47:00.002-06:00

So much to celebrate and we are excited to DO SO! The Baird Family is growing... Lauren and Scott are having a baby boy in November! So glad that the girls and I could fly down and celebrate his soon to be arrival! We had the shower at the zoo- it was a hit! Not only did we get to shower Lauren and Libby with love, but we all got to tour the zoo! Here are a few photo's from the day!

The Hostesses

A special present created by Honey for T's circus themed nursery. Isn't Honey talented!!!

I think there is a loose monkey!

Libby's other grandmother and her "extra" granddaughter. :)

Hailey will adopt anyone as her own.... I love that about her.

Honey and Aunt Sarah- these 2 have been best friends since they were in 1st grade. This is the kind of friend we all need!

My sweet girls! Mattie and Hailey had a blast eating the popcorn, pb&j's, cake pops, and fruit!

It was a great "kid friendly" shower.

Scott's sweet family was able to make the trip from UC to celebrate with us.

Here we go around the zoo:

1st off- RIDES!!!

Elephants

Hippos

Pandas- OH My!

We loved the day and the special time we got to spend with so many of our favorite people in honor or Thompson!

We can't wait to meet you Baby T!

XOXO,

Catching up... October Fun.

2012-11-18T21:54:00.000-06:00

The girls are back in town...

The Haynes girls headed back to Memphis for a quick visit and a baby shower for Thompson!

(more on that soon!)

Libby was THRILLED to see Mattie & Hailey! Watching these 3 play together is really neat. They are all 3 just so sweet. We are still working on sharing, but they have such tender hearts for each other. I love hearing them say "I love you" to each other.

We even got to swim for an afternoon before a cold spell hit. These pool is amazing to say the least. These girls are going to make tons of great memories here.

Love those sweet smiles.

We even snuck in a practice round of trick or treating at the Disney store. Libby, M&H were so excited to get all "princessed" up for the morning.

We loved being around all things princess and having our Honey with us.

Rapunzel, Sleeping Beauty, and Cinderella enjoyed the visit.

My sweet girls.

We even got to ride the Merry Go Round with YaYa.

It was such a fun day! Another favorite activity was t

"tickling" PaPa! You can imagine the giggles from these 3.

I am sure they were all very good helpers with the dishes...

They LOVE to be scared...

Memphis was off to a great start! Time to get ready for baby shower fun!

XOXO,

Ya Ya and Libby take on South TX

2012-10-24T21:16:00.000-05:00

Lauren and Libby came down to see Corpus Christi and we had a blast! We shopped, played, ran, played, giggled, toured the city, jumped, went a little princess crazy, ate good, and played some more.

Mattie and Hailey sure do LOVE Libby! It is so sweet watching these 3 together.

B/C flighs are a little cheaper out of San Antonio- we used it as an excuse to see a little of that town too! I can't say enough how much I love San Antonio. I love the Riverwalk, the hotels, the boat tour, Sea World, SHOPPING!!!! It is great. I introduced Lauren to one of my Mom's favorite restaurants...

They have the MOST amazing guacamole that they make at your table.

The big girls enjoying our first, of hopefully many- Girls trip!

After dinner- we look a boat tour. We all LOVED it!

After that we headed back to the hotel-- for a little ice cream snack and rest.

We can't wait for Libby and YaYa to visit again soon!

We love you ladies!

XOXO,

Goliad, TX

2012-10-19T13:36:00.001-05:00

Evidentally, this city has a lot of history! We had alot of fun on our adventure in the "country".

The "hanging tree" outside the courthouse.

We ate lunch at this very unique restaurant. It was really good- highly recommend.

Up next- scouting for Daddy's upcoming hunting trips!

We had new adventures riding in the back of the truck with mommy...

learning to zipline! These girls could have done this for hours! It was so much fun watching them have SO much fun!

Great family fun day!

XOXO,

1st Visit to the CC- southside!

2012-10-18T21:04:00.002-05:00

A few weeks ago, Grammy and Pop came for a visit. We were able to show them a few of the yummy local restaurants that we have found, the Padre Island beach, and our new house! I think we all had a blast!

We love playing on the beach!

Ken and I even got a night out to celebrate our 5th wedding anniversary. I am so blessed to have had 5 amazing years with this man! I truly can't believe all that we have been through, but I am so grateful that we have each other. I am one lucky girl. I love you Ken- here's to many more years!

XOXO,

Bunnies and Bumblebees

The BEST ship of all is...

2012-09-18T20:59:00.001-05:00

FRIENDSHIP! A few weekends ago- we had very special visitors. My very best friend, Katy and her precious family came for a visit. We had so much fun. We talked, we laughed, we played, we swam, we ate... we did everything we are great at together.

The most fun as always- was seeing our girls together. Mattie and Hailey just adore Lilly and Paige. I think it must be a Haynes Kummerfeld connection. :)

We just get it!

Our cuties enjoying a cookie picnic!

One of the most memorable moments- was our Original Whataburger. Corpus has so many great things to offer visitors.

We tried to get a picture of the girls... I wish I could post them all... it is entertaining to say the least. 4 girls age 1-3 trying to get them to look... IMPOSSIBLE, but aren't they all cuties!

On Saturday night, we got a babysitter for all the little's and we headed out to The Republic of Texas in the Omni for an adult dinner. It was great to spend time with David and Katy! These 2 are just amazing friends and the stories we could all tell- kept us rolling!

I am so blessed to have Katy in my life. She is such a positive person- that sees the best in everyone. What a gift!?! Talking to her could make Oscar the Grouch happy!

I LOVE you girl! Please come visit again soon, or better yet, move here... just saying.

XOXO,

Ready or not...Pre K-3 here we come!

2012-08-21T21:03:00.001-05:00

Last Friday, August 17 was our first official day of school here in Corpus Christi. The girls are attending a 1/2 day Mother's Day Out program that we are super excited about. Ken and I went to a welcome dinner for all the new parents and also had a little "meet the teacher" before hand. M&H's teacher's name is Mrs. Cage. We LOVED Mrs. Cage. She just really seemed to know her stuff!

Ready to go inside! I just love that you can see the ocean from the driveway at drop off.

Here we are with a few new friends! One little friend is NOT really happy yet...

Mattie kept saying, "it's ok- your mommy will be back."

Such a sweet heart she has!

Here's to an amazing Pre K-3 year!

I love you girls!

XOXO,

Still walking in Memphis...

While in Memphis- we had lunch with Ken's Aunt Betty, her granddaughter- Elizabeth, and Grammy. It was fun seeing these girls together- PLUS- I LOVE Rafferty's!

A little night swim for us all... I can't get over how amazing my parents pool is... I also, keep asking where was it when I was in TN!

2012-08-16T16:22:00.001-05:00

This past week- the girls and I snuck over from Little Rock to Memphis! We had a blast seeing our Memphis family. I am entertained by these pictures so I had to put them all- indulge me and be entertained too!

Here is how our visit went most days:

Eat, Play, Swim, Eat, Run with Princesses, Sleep, Swim, Sleep, REPEAT.

We also had a very special visit with a very special friend- Taylor. She is about a month older then my girls. Her mom, Lindsay and I taught together at Dexter, but we also went to UTM together and were both Chi-O's together. We go way back! It was so fun watching our girls playing together and catching up!

Hailey's dream car. She has officially put it on her Christmas list...

I hope Santa is listening.

XOXO,

Visiting "Farmer Uncle Greg and Aunt Ra Ra"

2012-08-15T07:52:00.002-05:00

Welcome to the world Cameron Dean Hart!

I am blessed to be your aunt!

This past weekend- my little family got the chance to visit Little Rock together to meet this little man! Let me tell you- he is as precious, sweet and adorable as he looks! The girls loved him! My heart sores seeing M&H with babies!

Isn't this a sweet picture of Grammy and her 1st grandson?

Also, while we were visiting- Aunt RaRa took us on a farm/baby cow tour. It was fun seeing the girls agricultural side! MOO!

Doesn't Rachel look amazing- I mean did she really just have a baby?!?!

I renamed all of the separated cow areas. This is the toddler room... still being bottle fed, but allowed more freedom to play and explore together.

This is the NICU- the newest calves are here in separate homes for a bit.

They were so sweet! As usual, my 2 girls were not scared to reach out and touch a cow. So we have officially chased chickens, harassed a duck, and now loved on a calf.

One thing I learned is cows have AMAZING eyelashes!!! Look at those things!

I think she will be the talk of the field once she leaves the NICU area.

I name #102: Bombshell.

If any of you know my husband very well- you know he has a very sensitive nose...

Guess who also got his gift- it is almost a sensory overload at time. They both are grossed out by smells that I honestly can't smell.

Mattie- was ready to leave the cow milk pumping room. I will say it brought back memories of nursing/pumping and I had to laugh at the similarities... of women and cows. Now if I could just get those eyelashes!

One thing I remember about teaching, was how many of the kids I taught have never been to the beach. I have always felt so blessed to get to share the beach with them- well almost daily. While at Rachel's, Mattie discovered something she had never seen- a pinecone. Oh my poor little beach girl!

Thank you Aunt Ra Ra for letting us come and visit! Your little man is precious!

Proud Aunt and Uncle!

Mattie and Hailey and their newest cousin. :)

We are blessed.

For you created my inmost being;
you knit me together in my mother’s womb.

I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;

¹⁴ your works are wonderful,
I know that full well.

Psalm 139:13-14

XOXO,

We're BACK- for a visit...

2012-08-13T21:57:00.002-05:00

HELLO CAUSEWAY!

I am not going to lie- it still felt like going home. Don't get me wrong- I am loving Corpus and we are just meeting alot of amazing people! We have been SO blessed!!! :)

We played at the beach- even ran on the seawall.

Hung with our Best buddies!

Slept well

Played with chickens

Enjoyed our time together! I adore watching these 3 as BFF's!

One night we even snuck away and had a great night our to celebrate friends!

LOVE these girls!

Also, had lunch with Laura, Ellie, Kate, Boone, Everett, Jackson, and Nora. It was great getting to hold all these babies! I miss my Fish Village family.

Thanks Liz for putting us up for a few day. LOVE you girl!

(I secretly hope this is in a wedding video one day).

XOXO
