The news broke this morning that Mel Gibson and his long-estranged wife, Robyn Moore have concluded their divorce arrangements. Despite having never written, appeared in or been obliged to learn even a single line from any of his 43 films the former Mrs. Gibson now stands to collect around $425-million to complete the decree.

Her collective gender have spent four entire decades tirelessly proclaiming their desire and innate ability to earn an income themselves, and the same time ensuring such laws as Ms. Moore has now used are protected and left firmly in place so they are free to leech money from men and avoid the slightest need to do any such thing.

One of these acions is bullshit. It’s time our compatriots decided which.

Since the days of Galileo man has gazed into the heavens, vainly endeavoring to find the secret of life or at least get a clue why we’re here. The great man himself used a telescope to assist in his search but there’s no firm proof he ever found that elusive secret.

Today, telescopes are exponentially stronger and instruments like the Hubble have uncovered clues to the origins of the universe that will keep scientists enthralled for ten years, if not longer.

If you ever ponder the great questions of human life you could take a lesson from the brains at NASA. Modern equipment like refractor telescopes can bring the most distant stars so comparatively close you’ll feel you could touch them. All you need is a clear night and the desire to explore.

If you feel suitably inspired the heavens await you – Find a quiet spot, pack a thermos of coffee, look up and enjoy…

‘Improv Everywhere’ lights up New York

This has to be among the most uplifting, unique and original enactments of combined creativity in the history of New York at least.

On July 26th, 3,500 total strangers gathered in Nelson Rockefeller Park at dusk and created a colorful tableau of pure, harmless fun and magic with just some music players, cameras, glow sticks and flashlights.

As you might guess the whole event was the brainchild of the creative iconoclasts at ‘Improv Everywhere.‘ If those guys could just move to Hollywood we might finally see an original movie instead of endless reboots and remakes.

Watch the video. If you’re unmoved by the collective joy so obvious among this flawless canopy of spirited volunteers you either run a Hollywood studio or you might need to check for a pulse…

Despite the wonders of Blu Ray and Imax there’s still nothing to beat the experience of a live concert. Watching your idol on the screen is one thing but to see them live on stage is usually an experience few fans can forget.

Anna Massey takes final curtain call at 73

Anna Massey, one of the most gifted, captivating and widely loved actresses of her generation has died in London. She was 73.

This is sad news for the acting world and a great loss for her legions of fans. Every role was crafted by an understated artistry that made her both convincing and a pure joy to watch in whatever she did.

In a 53-year career that began at just 17-years old and covered everything from lonely spinsters to Baroness Thatcher, Anna won a BAFTA and many other awards, plus a CBE that proves her talent was also admired by those at the Palace.

But the seemingly effortless aplomb she displayed on the screen was also an act, so it seems; And a fine one;

“I find acting incredibly difficult – it demands much more of my time than it does for some people,” she once told reporters. “I’m not instinctive. It takes enormous discipline and bravery to get me there.”

This wonderful lady and consummate actress will be deeply missed by anyone who ever saw her work, and that loss is best expressed by her agent;

“She will be remembered as a loving wife and mother, a cherished grandmother, a generous colleague and, always, a consummate professional,” the told the BBC. ”She will be greatly missed.”

As part of Her Majesty the Queen’s birthday it’s been announced that British entertainer and icon, Bruce Forsyth is to be knighted.

In the long and colorful history of this award there can be few people whose claim to deserve it is as solid as Bruce’s. This unique man got famous the old-fashioned way – He worked for it. He’s been performing since he was 13 and to this day it’s still hard to find one person with even a mildly bad view of either him or his work.

So here’s to the unique and irreplaceable Brucie: That is one attractive ribbon you’ve won yourself there, and you deserve every lustrous inch.

Cute rain coats for my twin sons

As if buying clothing for one kid growing like a weed isn’t bad enough, it’s so much harder to find clothing for two twin boys that refuse to wear the same kinds of clothes. I thought that at least I would be able to get away for a few more years with buying them the same clothes so I wouldn’t have to worry about keeping whose clothing is whose straight. But at 6 years old, they are both really bent on having separate identities.

Well, it’s time to buy some new rain coats for both of them, so I went online to see if I could find some different looking rain coats for them at a good price. I did find a kids rain coat for each of them that will give them a little bit of room to grow. I guess I need to get used to buying them different looking clothes now.
