collection: autumn/winter 2012/13 review part I

balmain - yes it's massively expensive, but look at it, it's beautiful. the attention to detail in this collection is genuinely insane, especially on the jacket in the last photo.

christian dior - dior knows how to make a lovely dress and i think i'd happily take home all four of these in a heartbeat. if only i had somewhere fancy to go...

dolce and gabbana - brocade, velvet, lace. three of my favourite things to this D&G show was near perfection in my eyes.

dries van noten - who doesn't love a good fur collar? nobody, that's who. i see scarf prints will still be in next year and i totally agree with it.

gareth pugh - he always appeals my former industrial goth loving self with his structured leathers and all black outfits. even now i think i'd wear that first leather jacket to death.

gucci - oh, gucci, i think you've been my favourite so far. every single outfit was beautiful and it's quite rare i think that about a collection. the dresses in the 2nd and 4th photo's are gorgeous, utterly wonderful.

jil sander - as everyone else went reasonably dark, jil sander went for a collection that looked more at home on a spring/summer catwalk. lovely tailoring and a giant red coat, i want it.

prada - yes! 70's inpiration, brogues, suits, patterns that belong on the carpet of that hotel in the shining. there is not a single thing wrong in this entire collection. 10 points to you miuccia.

versace - similar to gucci and D&G for the overall goth influnce. masses of velvet, studs and crosses. i have no complaints.

collections that left me feeling a bit 'bleugh':
balenciaga - usually i am a rather big fan as their accessories are always lovely, but their latest collection was a bit, well, uninspiring. i didn't get the big sleeves, it's not flattering at all, it just makes you look like you've got fat arms.
armani - the only word i can summon was 'ok'. it wasn't awful, it didn't blow my tiny little mind either.
roland mouret - some pretty patterns but overall nothing remotely exciting.

i will be doing a part two to this including: moschino, isabel marant, mary karantzou, chloe, nina ricci, lanvin, viktor & rolf, sonia rykiel, vivienne westwood, givenchy, hermes, valentino, chanel, stella mccartney and alexander mcqueen.
on second thoughts, that may have to be parts two and three as i didn't realise how many designers hadn't shown yet. how exciting! well, for me seeing the photos that is. hope you enjoyed the above set!

today's nails: minty fresh

after stupidly painting my nails in silver glitter which took me about half an hour and a million cotton pads to remove, i settled for this mint shade. it's by barry m and it's called 'mint green', shockingly. it doesn't go with any outfits i have planned for the next few days but i think that's why i like it.

topshop stockholm wedges / underground creepers

you know when you go into a store and they have that 'buy it now' section, with the limited sizes? i consider it to be fashion fate when they only have your size left in something you've wanted in a while. that's how i ended up with those topshop wedges and i have not regretted it for a second.
i've wanted creepers for pretty much ever and a day, so i was really pleased that someone on ebay put them on a buy it now for me at £45 and they're in practically brand new condition. good shoe purchases all round, i think!

this is my windswept, cold and slightly disgruntled face today. it was so stupidly windy when i went out to university this morning that i ended up missing my metro due to being blown into people's fences and not being able to walk fast enough. awful!
being cold called for wearing the obligatory fur coat and chelsea boots. i think the colour of my mulberry and the suede on my shoes go quite nice together, so i'll be combining these more often.
i had a mini exam on public affairs which i think i did alright in then i came back home. i was going to go to the gym but i really didn't feel like it so i'm just sat here, blogging and eating a creme egg. i think this is much better than being on the cross-trainer for an hour and a half.

as soon as i went outside it stopped being sunny. typical. i wore this to go to my sister's house for pancake day yesterday and i ate oh so many and it was utterly delicious. i think i might actually make some more today. my favourite thing to do is put a milky bar in the middle, roll it up, wait for it to melt and then eat it. try it, i dare you not to think it's probably the best thing you've ever done.

bought and update: manchester trip

i've been a bit absent from the blog recently due to being a mixture of uninspired and massively busy. having not posted for a week (i know it's not that long, really) i have a couple of things to share with you lot.

i went to manchester last weekend with the bf and we had such a good time. on the way there we got upgraded to first class because there was a horrible woman with an equally nasty attitude in our seats. we did lots of shopping and ordered takeaway to the hotel room because the weather was rubbish on the saturday night. i ate so much food in general really, but it was oh so good.

anyways, onto the clothes. i bought all of the above when i was down there.

01/02: both silk shirts are from zara, they have about a million things in at the moment that i adore but i was trying to be sensible and just bought these two.

03/04: two vintage shirts. everyone needs a good denim one and the checked one is perfect under jumpers.

05: this white jumper from topshop is possibly my favourite. it's longer in the back and looks amazing with dark purple jeans.

06: so, so happy i found this mint colour jumper in a little boutique, especially as it was only £18! it reminds me of the acne one and i've been on the hunt for this shade for about 8 months now.

07/08: this dip dye jumper from topshop is such a lovely colour in person. the polkadot blazer has the most wonderful lapels, i can't wait until it's a bit warmer so i can wear it with a buttoned up shirt and leather shorts.

so, i need to make that fringed dress mine, it's absolutely amazing! the studded collar shirt is an obvious DIY which will have to be done. overall, i quite like the combination of sugary tones with black, navy and grey. well done zara. as always, my bank account hates you.

i'm still completely enamored by metallic and sparkly nail polishes so i would happily add any of these to my current collection. especially the black and silver glitters, i think i'm going to make a definite effort to get my hands on them!

i woke up extremely late to go to my first lesson today so i went to get my dad's birthday present instead.
i've always liked the combination of grey and dark purple so i thought this jumper and my new topshop jeans were made for each other. there's also something about berry tones and leopard print which i sort of love, even if this coat does shed all over the place.
i am also sick of wearing my glasses now and i can't get my contacts until tomorrow at the earliest, which is useless as i'm not going into town until friday now. sigh.
i am going to have a massively early night in preparation for uni and a two hour gym session tomorrow. what an exciting life i lead!

today: floral shirts and patent black

i know everyone's over this shirt from zara, but this is the first time i've worn mine since i bought it and i'm still rather infatuated.

anyways, i needed a new pair of plain black heels so i found these ones from asos (via ebay). they only cost me £15 and they're brand new. i wear heels quite a lot, but none this high so i'm gonna have to wear them round the house to get used to them.

i've been at the bf's all weekend hence no outfit posts, or any posts for that matter. we ate lots of food, he played on dead space (which is ridiculously nerve wracking) and i took him to wagamamas today as he'd never been, which was really tasty. massively disappointed they took both the vanilla cheesecake and the lychee sorbet off the dessert menu. nevermind, ey. afterwards to went to a pub and it was full of hipsters, they're taking over all the good places.

i'm back at university tomorrow so i'll be having a reasonably early night tonight, well, once i watch more bored to death and download some new songs.

here's some webcam photos because i don't have time to take proper ones on my camera (well, that and they're always rubbish anyways)

i'm off to the bf's house this weekend and i've made him marshmallow cupcakes. they're basically vanilla sponge with melted marshmallow in the middle, with vanilla frosting and mini marshmallows mixed together. this means i've ate my body weight in cake mix and i now don't want anything sweet ever again haha.

my dad got my watch fitted with a new battery so now i have my trusty vivienne westwood back on my skinny little wrists. his watch falling down to my elbows every time i moved was getting a little annoying.

i need to go and get my things ready so i hope you's all have a lovely weekend wherever you are and whatever you're doing!

despite this coat being an XS, it's absolutely massive. tent-like some may say. i still sort of love it though and spent the majority of my media curled up inside of it.

i finished at 5 today so i'm back to my usual (well, recently) badly lit photos in my room. i'm also still wearing glasses as boots opticians are literally the worst company in the world (ever ever ever) and have, for some unknown reason, stopped ordering in my contact lenses, but are still taking the money out of my account. cheers, appreciate it.

i spent the weekend at my boyfriends house and we spent an insane amount of money on cocktails. some were delicious, others were disgusting. one looked like strawberry jam and was even served in a jam jar, pity it was one of the not so nice ones.

i boycotted the gym in favour of eating cadbury fingers which is probably counter-productive. i'll be going tomorrow so i'm sure it's fine.

this evening i will be starting a new book (chuck palahniuk - survivor. it's backwards on the picture, yes i know) and eventually reading my elle magazine that i bought last wednesday. i'm also going to paint my nails, so expect a post of that. i know that's an oh so exciting prospect, so i might even do them glittery for an extra dose of awesome.

more terribly lit photos today, apologies everyone. by the time i got in it was pitch black outside so i couldn't use any natural light.

i hadn't worn this trench in a while and forgot how much i completely adore it. the khaki sleeves make a lovely colour change from the usual black.

today, i went to uni and the gym. it was the first time i had been back in a few weeks and i actually enjoyed it. whether i'll be able to walk in the morning may change my mind about this. though, i'll probably be going again tomorrow.

it was absolutely freezing today and i'm so glad i put my boots on, even if they do take an age to fasten. i forgot my scarf though which made me extremly sad (and cold!)
this evening, i'm going to paint my nails (so expect a 'today's nails' post) and read the rest of my book.

today: university and gold

first day back at university today (it's an insanely long break, i know) and it was absolutely freezing! i'm in some of my lessons by myself which is good productivity wise, but oh so boring social wise. it's only for 2 lessons a week so i'm sure i'll survive, plus i get friday's off whereas my friends are stuck.
i didn't actually wear these shoes today, as i stupidly wore tiny little flats, but i got them in the post this morning and decided to show you's anyways. they're a perfect heel size to wear all day but give you an extra boost of height, not bad for £18.
the jeans are actually dark green but as i took these photos in terrible lighting, you'd never be able to tell!
i'm now back at home, after my media law lecture was cut 40minutes short, and i still can't warm up. currently curled up next to the radiator like a cat. this evening, i'm gonna catch up on blogs, download some new music and watch absolutely fabulous.

i felt like i belonged in the 90's today with this outfit. the coat was a steal from the asos sale, reduced from £85 to £29. i'm having to wear my glasses, begrudgingly, as i didn't quite manage to put my contacts away after i was out on wednesday night. cheap trebles are officially the devil!

anyways, after coming back from my sisters today, i have since put on my pj's and am currently vegetating on the sofa watching ratatouille. it's making me extremely hungry!

today, i had to get up early for a doctors appointment and bought my body weight in sweets afterwards. i have since ate a gym workout's worth of french fancies. overall, my day has dragged massively and i'm currently sat with a cat and a laptop precariously balanced on my knee.
tomorrow, i'm going into town for drinks with a friend that i haven't seen in a few months and then seeing the new boyfriend (who is lovely, by the way). think it should be an excellent evening.

so, i'm taking full advantage of topshop having 20% student discount at the moment and decided to treat myself to the above items. well, that and i had lots of things to exchange.
i have a huge obsession with matching underwear, resulting in me being unable to resist buying it. seriously, it's becoming a problem.
as i have a slight thing for topshop's 'ambush' boots but already have them in three different colours (i know, ridiculous), i decided that the 'achieve' boots were a different enough alternative.
i wanted that blazer when it went in the sale but it became sold out pretty quickly. when i was in topshop yesterday, there was one left just hanging on the rail. fashion fate right there people.
and the pink jumper? well, everyone needs at least one girly item in their wardrobe and this is now mine.

01: i saw this blazer on a blog ages ago and completely fell in love with it. as i hardly go to my local zara store, with it being a bit awkward to get to, i forgot all about it. so i was unbelievably happy when i saw it today though and got it for a bargain at £21.

02: because everyone needs a slim fitting navy blazer in their wardrobe. well, i know i do.

03: a blurry photo, yes, i should have probably taken another one. but this forest green shirt with black contrasting trim pretty much threw itself at me.

04: ah, the celine/jil sander esque shirt, i loved it when it first came out and thought i'd never be able to get my hands on it. luckily no one in the north east has much taste, so there were loads left for me to choose from.

05: i have this shirt in a peachy colour and it's one of my favourites, so when i saw this one i had to get it. it's a wonderful tobacco and plum colour, beautiful.
