Ladies and Gentlemen. We are back! Yes after a long and painful absence our Non-Award Winning Panel is back from a trip to Russia. What-had-happened-was, Mikey thought it would be funny to share a Family guy clip about a Russian cut away gag. Long story short, we were released from a Russian Prison and I finally understand the Family Guy Russian cut away gag. My anti-Russian friend from Moldova helped out with that one. Thanks Serge!

In our exit NFL games were played. We pleaded with Roger Goodell to suspend the season till we were freed, but no cigar. Despite this we continued to make our picks. Geoff won week 7 with a record of 11-2 and the best weekly record of anyone this season. Yours truly won week 8 with a record of 8-6 and week 10 with a record of 11-2-1. Week 9 saw myself, Geoff, the Infamous Boris and Brian all tie at 11-3.

In Our Absence

Well let’s catch up! Peyton Manning and Andrew Luck are both riding 4 game win streaks and impressive performances. We call that a win-win. Green Bay rattled off 4 straight wins after a rocky offense start. Don’t look now but the New Orleans Saints have won 4 of their last 5 games after an 0-4 start to the season. The opposite of that would be the Arizona Cardinals who have lost 5 straight after a 4-0 start to the season, the second team in NFL history to lose 5 straight games after a 4-0 start. Coach Green? “THEY ARE WHO WE THOUGHT THEY WERE!”, Thanks Coach. The Philadelphia “Egg-les” have lost 5 straight, first time under Andy Reid, after a 3-1 start to the season. And finally the New York Giants who have begun their yearly second half slide after losing 2 straight after a 6-2 start to the season.

As far as the players are concerned, we have one statement and one statement only. Doug Martin is a *bleeping* stud.

As far as the season picks, it is getting very interesting! With 7 weeks left in the 2012 NFL season, Mikey(M) and Geoff(G) are tied for the lead at 95-50. Myself(D), Donny or Dunny your choice, is behind one game at 94-51. The Infamous Boris(IB) is two games behind at 92-53 and Brian(B) leads the rear at 88-57. Yes, we all have one tie thanks to San Francisco, St. Louis and the NFL for allowing games to end in a tie. Also, we knew the overtime rules even though the men who play the game did not.

Week 11 NFL Picks

Miami Dolphins (IB)(M) at Buffalo Bills (D)(B)(G)

Buffalo ended their 3 game skid as the Dolphins entered their own 3 game skid. The Bills won 19-14. Buffalo finally figured out how to finish games with a win. Ryan Tannehill has been impressive with skill set as an NFL QB. However, he has thrown for 223+ yards only twice in 10 games this season. NFL defenses are figuring him out and he needs to show he can adjust.

Arizona Cardinals at Atlanta Falcons (ALL)

Shockingly, the Cardinals may still have a hope at the playoffs. Na who are we kidding! The Falcons are the team to beat in the NFC. Look for Arizona to use Jacqiuzz Rodgers more in goal line and short line situations going forward this season. Rodgers adds a dominant presence in run formations.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers (ALL) at Carolina Panthers

Flying under the radar, Josh Freeman. The fourth year man out of Kansas State has thrown 18 touchdowns this season to only 5 interceptions. Not only has Freeman reduced his turnovers this year, he has found a running game to relieve the pressure laid upon him last season. The Bucs have won 3 straight while Cam Newton struggles to find maturity.

Dallas Cowboys (ALL) at Cleveland Browns

The Cowboys will play 3 games before the Giants take the field again. This added advantage, assuming the Cowboys take advantage, could put the Cowboys at the top of the NFC East. The Giants have lost 2 straight during their typical late season slide.

Green Bay Packers (ALL) at Detroit Lions

Aaron Rodgers and the Packers have found their game, winning 4 straight games. The same can not be said for the Lions. Matthew Stafford is struggling behind a terrible offensive line, which is directly related to Calvin Johnson’s slow start to the season. To make matters worse, RB Jahvid Best was just placed on season ending IR due to a nagging concussion issue. If the Lions can not win this game, they will may kiss their postseason chances goodbye.

Jacksonville Jaguars at Houston Texans (ALL)

The Houston Texans are the team to beat in the AFC. Last week they faced the biggest test this young team has endured, heading into Chicago on a rainy night. In the mud and rain, the Texans pulled out a low scoring defensive win. Proving this team is capable of playing beyond their comfort zone and win.

Cincinnati Bengals (ALL) at Kansas City Chiefs

…..Um….We’ll start debating now who the Chiefs will select with the #1 overall pick.

New York J-E-T-S JETS JETS JETS at St. Louis Rams (ALL)

The Jets are a mess. The Timmy Tebow experiment has failed miserably. The entire team, city and fanbase is torn between firing head coach Rex Ryan. Long story short, this may be QB Mark Sanchezs’ last season in New York. The Rams are looking to keep pace in the NFC West.

Philadelphia Eagles (IB) at Washington Redskins (G)(D)(B)(M)

Rookie versus Rookie. QB Nick Foles makes his first NFL start for the Eagles this Sunday with Michael Vick out due to a concussion. Andy Reid and the Eagles must find a way to slow down RG3 and the Redskins, if not Reid may be looking for work.

New Orleans Saints (IB)(G)(D)(B) at Oakland Raiders (M)

Carson Palmer is 3rd in the NFl in passing yards. This is not because the man has revived his career. The Raiders seem to be playing from behind, ALOT. Don’t get us wrong. If Oakland had a defense worth mentioning, we would be talking Palmer as the NFL Comeback Player of the Year.

San Diego Chargers at Denver Broncos (ALL)

San Diego is a mystery. They have the talent, but can’t seem to put it together. Much like the Dallas Cowboys. Some of Phillip River’s struggles can be attributed to lack of talent at WR. Peyton Manning and the Broncos have hit their stride and cruising. They also just activated LB DJ Williams to active roster after he served a 6 game suspension for violating the NFL’s Substance Abuse Policy.

Indianapolis Colts at New England Patriots (ALL)

With the departure of Peyton Manning I expected the yearly matchup between these two teams to be a laughing stock. This is not the case. Andrew Luck and the Colts are playing very very well. The Patriots are winning, but their defense is struggling. This game might end up a shootout. Ah like old times!

Baltimore Ravens (ALL) at Pittsburgh Steelers

Byron Leftwich will take the reins in Pittsburgh Sunday night for the injured Ben R. Not timetable has been set for Ben R’s return. However, the Ravens defense is not what it once was and the Steelers running game looks to take control early.

Monday Night Football

Chicago Bears (M) at San Francisco 49ers (D)(IB)(B)(G)

QB Jason Campbell will start for the Bears Monday night. 49er’s QB Alex Smith is still waiting to be cleared after suffering a concussion last week. If he is not cleared this game may be a battle between who has the better backup QB. I am leaning towards Collin Kapernick!

During Thursday night’s bout between the Miami Dolphins and Buffalo Bills, a fan was ejected from Ralph Wilson Stadium. The fan was ejected for being intoxicated, which common among NFL stadiums around the league.

After the game the man’s brother could not find him and called police to file a missing person’s report. The police then used a cell phone ping to locate the man’s cell phone signal. It worked. Police found the man who was ejected from Ralph Wilson Stadium, face down in a creek in close proximity of the stadium dead.

Authorities have not released the identity of the man or his brother who reported him missing and or investigating the incident.

Someone’s death is never funny nor something anyone should take lightly. *TMC Public Service Announcement* However, this sounds like something Tony Sparano would do. All that is missing is the hands tied behind the back…and New Jersey.

The Philadelphia Eagles announced that QB Michael Vick will officially be out due to a concussion when they head into Washington to face the Redskins. Philly fans, you’re welcome.

It should come as no shock that Vick will be sidelined due to an injury. This season Vick has taken a beating after 27 sacks this season, ranking behind only Aaron Rodgers (29) and Jay Cutler (28). The hits Vick has taken over his career, specially the hits since joining the joining the Eagles in 2009, has slowed him down. He no longer posses that quickness to escape pressure nor the speed he once had. When Vick is pressured in the pocket he seems to be second guessing himself and unable to make that split second decision.

This decline in skills may be related to Eagles head coach Andy Reid and the west coast offense he runs. The QB guru has attempted to make Vick a pocket passer first, runner second. This is not what Michael Vick is. He is a running back who happens to pass here and there. Turning him into a pocket passer has created a turnover machine. He has turn the ball over 60 times in 35 starts for the Eagles.

Simply put, Vick will no longer be an Eagle after this season. Andy Reid may also be out as Eagles Head Coach if he can not turn the tide in Philly. He is CURSED!

Enter Nick Foles

During the preseason Foles Fever exceeded that of Andrew Luck or even RG3. In four preseason games he completed 64% of his passes for 553 yards and 6 touchdowns to 2 interceptions. His pocket presence, vision and ability to instantly break down defenses was even more impressive than his stats. Nick Foles looked like the real deal. He got his first action in Week 10 against the Dallas Cowboys when Vick left with an injury. He completed 22 of 32 passes for 219 yards with one touchdown and interception. Foles led an Eagles comeback before fumbling on the Eagles drive that could have tied the game late in the fourth.

This week Nick Foles will get his first, of many, NFL start against the Washington Redskins.

His performance will determine the direction in which the Eagles will go. He if plays well as we all predict, the Eagles have their next franchise QB. One man in particular will be hoping Foles plays well and that is Andy Reid. The failed experiment of Vick has him clinging by a thread to his job. If Nick Foles can produce and possibly lead the Eagles to 4 or 5 wins in the remaining 7 games, Reid will be kissing his toes for saving his job.

Point of all this is that regardless of what happens in the final 7 games of the season, Michael Vick will be cut by the Eagles and possibly done as a starting QB in the NFL all together. Andy Reid will be praying for his job if the Eagles finish 9-7 and definitely fired if the Eagles finish with a 8-8 record or worse.

God speed Mr. Reid. (Ha, that rhymed)

Gotcha! Timmy Tebow isn’t going anywhere. Timmy Tebow Style! HEEEYYYY SEXY REXY!

Due to Hurricane Sandy, the NFL Trade Deadline has been moved from Tuesday at 4pm ET to Thursday at 4pm ET. NFL teams have less than 24 hours to either acquire or trade players on their respective roster. Unlike the MLB Trade Deadline which sees trade after trade before the deadline, the NFL trade deadline is like a Hurricane. Just wait, it’s a great analogy. The rumors swirl around all year but only one or two usually hit. When they do hit, they make a huge impact on the league as a whole.

Do you know what Mother Nature and MTV have in common? They both cancelled The Jersey Shore this season. Too soon?

As far as trade rumors swirling, several big names are being thrown around the past few days. A few notable names that have been swirling around ever so slightly are Kansas City WR Dwayne Bowe, Indianapolis DE Dwight Freeney and New Orleans RB Pierre Thomas.

Stephen Jackson, RB, St. Louis Rams

Rams Head Coach Jeff Fisher recently made these comments regarding trading the veteran Jackson. “He’s our running back, and we’re not calling around, nor are we getting calls for that matter. Put that to rest“. Sorry Jeffrey, we’re in the business of speculation and entertainment! We can’t let these things go so easily!

Trading Jackson makes sense. The Rams have voided the final year of his contract making him a Free Agent after this season. Trade wise, he still has value left in him and they need to cash in on that value before he walks free. Secondly, he is splitting time with Darryl Richardson we looks like the Rams future #1 back. Then again, Jeff Fisher is hard headed and the Rams are still in the playoff picture with Jackson as a valuable piece.

Friday Home: ST. LOUIS

DeAnglo Williams, RB, Carolina Panthers

Sources within the Panthers organization note that Williams will be traded before the NFL Trade deadline Thursday. Several teams have reportedly contacted the Panthers about “serious” offers for DeAnglo Williams. At 29 years of age, he may not have much left in the tank (if he had any at all). Other than one spectacular season in 2008, Williams has had 6 subpar seasons.

Regardless, teams such as Green Bay and Pittsburgh desperately need RB help and depth. Adding a capable veteran will boost teams like Pittsburgh and Green Bay into elite status heading into the playoffs. Williams has 61 carries for 210 yards and 2 touchdowns in six starts for Carolina this season.

Friday Home: CINCINNATI /PITTSBURGH/DETROIT/GREEN BAY (Denver has stated they are not interested in the services of Williams’)

Steve Smith, WR, Carolina Panthers

Sources have confirmed that the Panthers have been contacted by several teams about the availability of receiver Steve Smith. The Panthers response? NO.

It would make sense on paper to trade a valuable 33 year old receiver before his true age shows through. However. One big factor is keeping Smith in Carolina: Cam Newton and his struggles.

Newton is struggling to find his accuracy and feel for this Panther offense in his Sophomore season. Trading away his favorite target and best receiver will only hinder his ability to climb out of the hole he finds himself in. If this was Tom Brady or Peyton Manning, Smith would be gone in a heartbeat. Newton is young and still learning, the Panthers do not want to hinder their Franchise QB’s development.

Friday Home: CAROLINA

Bryant McKinnie, LT, Baltimore Ravens

McKinnie has spent the entire season keeping the Raven bench warm, while watching Michael Oher and Kelechi Osemele (R) man the two starting tackle spots. At 33 years of age, he is not the Left Tackle he once was in Minnesota. However he did start every game at LT last year for the Ravens and played very well. He also took a $1 million paycut in the off-season to avoid being cut.

The Arizona Cardinals are drooling over McKinnie. Not because he looks stunning in those tights. Because Bobbie Massie and D’Anthoney Batiste, the two starting tackles for Arizona, are historically one of the worst duo of tackles to ever play the game. They have combined to give up 25 sacks this season and 74 QB hurries. These two are responsible for the revolving door of injuries for Cardinal QB’s. I’m confident a deal will get done before Thursday.

Friday Home: ARIZONA

Jared Cook, TE, Tennessee Titans

Last week Cook requested the Titans trade him. Head Coach Mike Munchak refuses to comment on the situation. At age 25, Cook is one the top TE’s in the league and still growing as a player. Last year he posted 49 catches for 759 yards and 3 TD’s. As well as a 15.5 yards per catch. This season his role has declined as he has participated in less than 50% of the Titans offensive snaps the past 6 games.

The team most likely to acquire Cook before the trade deadline: the Washington Redskins. RG3 has already proven he can produce despite quality receivers. Starting TE Fred Davis is out for the remainder of the season and likely to be released when the season is over. Cook would provide a huge target for RG3 in the middle of the field, the endzone and someone to grow old with.

Friday Home: Tennessee

Detroit Lions, DB Help

The Lions are searching around for suitable DB’s to help fill the wrath of injuries the Lions have seen recently. Surprisingly, despite all the injuries they rank 9th against the pass this season. Allowing only 214.1 yards per game. Injuries hurt the depth of a team but the Lions may maintain ship with who they currently have. The following Lion DB’s are out with injuries.

Amari Spievey (Concussion), Jacob Lacey (Concussion), Drayton Florence (Broken Arm), Louis Delmas (Knee), Chris Greenwood (PUP List) and Dwight Bentley (Shoulder).

Philly fans are calling for two things. Cheese-Steaks and Nick Foles. Never had one myself, but I hear those cheese-steaks are almost as addicting as Michael Vicks’ addiction to fumbling.

Hell of segway huh?

Michael Vick Fumbles against the Steelers

Vick has fumbled the ball eight times in Phillys’ first five games this season, losing five of them. Fumbles cause fumbles, they are contiguous. Blame can be placed upon Phillys’ horrific offensive line. Still, Vick needs to hold on to the ball. His solution? Carry the ball more.

According to NFL.com and NFL Network’s Aditi Kinkhabawala (I have yet to attempt his name), Vick carried a football with him all week at Philadelphia Eagles facilities. Whether he was on the field, the bathroom, eating lunch or whatever daily activities he completed throughout the day he was subject to being stripped by his fellow teammates. Did he fumble? I’d to think so. Simply for his childish attempt to curb a problem that is fixed by proper ball carrying mechanics.

“Not to put too much emphasis on it, but to continuously remind myself that I have to take care of the football. You want to go out there and make it happen.”

- Michael Vick on his daily Ball Carrying

Clifford Franklin couldn’t catch anything either. Till he jacked off an elephant. Just saying.

Rookie Hazing is very controversial. Just ask New York Giants DE Jason Pierre-Paul who was bearted after he carried and threw teammate Prince Amukamara into a tub of water during the pre-season. Now that I have you rethinking the way you treat others, let’s get a laugh out of hazing shall we!

Tuesday night was apparently Steak Night for the Chicago Bears at Mastro Steakhouse in Chicago. Although I am not sure if they sung and dance like my man Zach Braff or dipped their steaks in my favorite condiment: Sour Cream. Don’t judge what you haven’t tried. Where were we? O yes, Shea McClellin.

After a hearty dinner, rookie DE Shea McClellin and Aston Whiteside of DA Bears practice squad were handed a bill. The total was $38,091 and 91 cents.

Of course this was only a joke played on the poor rookies. Veteran Defensive End Isreal Idonije couldn’t help but be ticked as he watched the rookies ponder for five minutes on how in the h-e-double hockey sticks they were going to pay for the $38k bill, ”they didn’t know what to do with themselves”.

The bill was phony, but they still had to pay. McClellin stated the bill was actually around $10,000.

For those who don’t know, Rookie dinners consist of rookies taking the entire team out to dinner and paying for the bill. Cowboys WR Dez Bryant received similar treatment last season. His bill totaled $54,896 and it was not a joke.

Shea McClellin, 23, was drafted in the first round of the 2012 NFL Draft by Chicago out of Boise State. He has played in 5 games this season and recorded 5 tackles with 2 sacks.

Ladies and gentlemen, assuming you are gentle, we have entered the year of the kicker. Yes the kicker. The most under appreciated player on an NFL roster, only above the punter and the long snapper. Of course that is still not saying much.

NFL offenses exploded in 2011, setting 15 offensive NFL records and 8 offensive Franchise records. Now the kickers look to “boot” their way into the NFL record books. Puns are fun…so is rhyming.

Through the first 5 weeks of the NFL season, kickers have combined to make 273 field goals. They have missed a combined 32 attempts, which averages out to only one missed FG per team. In fact, Billy Cundiff was recently cut by the Washington Redskins after missing 5 of his 12 attempts this season. NFL kickers have a combined percentage of 89.5% this season. The highest percentage through the first five weeks in NFL history.

Currently, that percentage would break the all-time record for the highest field goal percentage in NFL history. Which is 84.5%, set during the 2008 NFL season. You may be thinking ‘probably because kickers are not kicking as much’. You are thinking it aren’t you? Jedi mind tricks. Actually, 18 kickers this season have kicked 10+ field goals and 13 of those have missed only one FG.

The key to kicking success in the NFL, youth and experience.

Three rookie kickers entered the NFL season as their respective teams starter. Randy Bullock would have been the fourth, but he landed on the Houston Texans IR during the pre-season. Greg “The Leg” Zuerlein (STL), Justin Tucker (BAL) and Blair Walsh (MIN) ahev combined to make 36 of their 38 attempts this season. “The Leg” is perfect on the season, going 13 for 13. Perfection is one thing but accuracy sets these Rookies apart from the pack. Combined they are 9 for 9 from 50+ yards. “The Leg” (4-4) has a long of 60 yards, Walsh (3-3) has a long of 55 yards and Tucker (2-2) has a long of 56 yards.

Believe it’s safe to say after all that compelling evidence, that this is the year of the kicker. Let us not forget the old men and their kicking tees complete with tennis ball on the end of the legs. Jason Hansen (42) is 12 for 13, Adam Vinateri (39) is 7 for 10, David Akers (37) is 10 for 13, Phil Dawson (37) is 10 for 10 and Matt Bryant (37) is also 10 for 10.

For some perspective we’ll take a look at Hall of fame kicker Lou “The Toe” Groza. He played 21 NFL season for the Cleveland Browns from 1946-1967. During that time he has a percentage of only 54.9% and had only one season in which his field goal percentage was over 69%.

If you live in the DFW Metroplex, you may already understand. For those who don’t allow me to explain The Curse of Cowboys Stadium.

Jerry Jones, owner of the Dallas Cowboys, built a $1.3 billion stadium in 2009 and if you ask him he built it with his own hands. It is the largest domed stadium in the world and is the largest column-free interior stadium in the world. Cowboys Stadium also has the second largest HD television in the world, second only to a Nascar track. Yes, Nascar. Despite the prestige involving this stadium, you can hear a pin drop when the Dallas Cowboys play.

When the Cowboys played Monday night in Dallas against the Chicago Bears, you could hear Jay Cutler’s cadence over the crowd. Given players are mic’d and NFL mic’s hover over the field and on the sidelines, but they should be picking up cheers from the fans as well. Yet they did not and it is hurting the Cowboys.

The inaugural 2009 season for Cowboys Stadium saw the Cowboys go 7-1 and win their first playoff game in 13 years. Since then, the Cowboys have been 8-10 when they play in Cowboys Stadium.

Crowd noise adds an additional X-factor for the home team. This can be disrupting an opposing QB’s cadence, ability to hear incoming plays into a QB’s helmet and an intimidation factor for the opposing team. Not to mention the Home team feeding off the cheers from their own fans. Just ask Baltimore, San Francisco, Dallas and Green Bay all of which have been beaten by the Seahawks in Seattle, home of the “12th Man”, or simply the fans in the stands.

Cowboys Stadium

Fans in the stands is something the Cowboys lack. Attendance levels have been declining from an average of 90,000 per home game in 2009 to an average of 85,000 per home game in 2011.

There are many reasons why this could be. It could stem from fans being pre-occupied with the bells and whistles of the new stadium. Could result from a neuro-toxin in the ventilation system, but we’re gonna rule that one out and we do apologize if anyone was looking for a good conspiracy theory. I have narrowed it down to two major theories, let’s proceed.

Madman Round Table Theory #1

Simply, the City of Dallas.

Being raised in the city of Dallas I have noticed one thing. The lack of pride for the city itself. It’s not as if the city is not trying to restore pride within it’s residents, it’s just they don’t care for pride in residence. Outside of Austin, most Texas cities don’t have a large number of residents that have proud for the city itself. The State of Texas holds itself to a high degree as a place that was it’s own country at one point.

Residents that were born and raised within the State of Texas have Texan pride, no matter where they live. Whether you live in Houston, Dallas, San Antonio or Austin, everyone has pride for simply being Texan. This may be a concept outsiders can’t comprehend and is hard to explain without seeing first hand, but when you are Texan it doesn’t matter where you live. As long as you live in Texas.

Madman Round Table Theory #2

When you have everything, you tend to loose interest.

People who are wealthy tend to be depressed more often due to a sense of boredom. And by wealthy I mean HIGHLY wealthy. When someone is poor, they tend to hold onto to things and, for a lack of better words, worship them. This theory of human psychology can be applied to the sports world. Dallas has four major sport franchises, the Stars (NHL), Rangers (MLB), Mavericks (NBA) and the Cowboys. This splits up a metropolitan population of just under 7 million between several sports. If the Cowboys are struggling, as they have been for the past decade and more, they tend to lean their fandom towards other venues.

Well use Seattle as an example again, for they know the pain of losing a major sports franchise (Supersonics of the NBA). Seattle has a metropolitan population of just under 4 million. The Seahawks is basically all they have in a major sports franchise. Sorry Mariner fans, they are not relevant. Seattlians…Seattlopians… Citizens of Seattle hold onto the Seahawks because they don’t have any other Sports to put their focus and pride into. Therefore, when the Seahawks play at home the fans go crazy to show their support. Something citizens of Dallas will never know, for they split there focus amoung four major sport franchsies.

Remember, these are just theories of why Cowboys Stadium lacks the crowd noise of fans. Whether it’s the bells and whistles, neuro-toxins, a lack of city pride or stretch fandom, the Cowboys are lacking the home fans.
