The VPN Error 800 is an error that you may run across while using a VPN connection for work or school. This error is caused when the remote terminal connection is not made due to the VPN tunnels failing to connect. It could be simply due to the server not being available or from the security settings being incorrectly set for the VPN network.

How to Fix the VPN Error 800?

There are several steps you can take to troubleshoot your VPN connection before needing to seek assistance from your IT support shop, department, or contractor. Some of these potential solutions include:

1 – Changing the VPN tunnel on your computer manually to the type of tunnel configured for your VPN. To do this, you would double left click the “Network Connections” icon on the Windows Taskbar. Then, Right click the VPN connection on the subsequent screen. Choose “Properties,” “Securities Tab” and select the VPN tunnel type. This will give you a more specific error code for the VPN failure to help you troubleshoot the issue more effectively.

2 – Ping the VPN server from your computer to ensure it is actually up. To do so, open your computer’s DOS prompt by selecting the “Start” menu and typing “Ping servername or IP address” in the “Open” text field followed by the enter key. If the server is not available, you will see a feedback message on the DOS screen indicating the server is not available.

3 – Verify your VPN security settings are configured properly. To do so, you will need to ensure you have the right client-side key installed on your computer for the VPN configuration. After you do this, if you are using L2TP, verify UDP port 1701 is not blocked on your computer’s firewall. If you are using IKEv2, make sure that you do not have UDP ports 500 and 4500 blocked on the computer. If you are using SSTP, you will need to make sure that you have the correct machine and trusted root certificate installed on your computer. All of these certificates should have been provided to you from your VPN manager or IT admin via CD or email to install.

Error Code 5 is a Windows Operating System error that can drive you batty trying to resolve. When you get the error on your computer it will state, “Failed to Execute Target Process (Error Code 5)” and terminate the application that you are trying to use. The error comes from the zone protection bundled with Internet Explorer 7 on Vista and sometimes on XP.

What Causes Error Code 5?

Error code 5 is generated when a file is download or copied to your system and the operating system adds an alternative data stream to the file to indicate the file source. When you run or try to open the file, if the datastream does not match your computer, the Error code 5 can be generated if your operating system configuration does not permit these files to be run or opened.

How to Fix Error Code 5?

The fix for most people for error code 5 is relatively straight forward. You will need to open the Windows explorer (Press the “Windows and E” keys simultaneously if you don’t know how to access the file explorer. Then, right click on the .exe file that is generating the error. Choose the “General” tab on the properties menu and select the “Security” section. Then, choose the “unblock” button located on the “Advanced” menu tab and the error message will be eliminated. Note, that you will not see the “Unblock” option if blocking is not configured.

A problem that can arise for MS Windows users who use Windows XP on a computer is getting a “Disk Read Error” when using Windows XP or attempting to reinstall XP. This error can occur due to conflicts with other operating systems installed on the hard drive or due to permissions conflicts from previously installed operating symptoms.

When Will You See the Disk Read Error?

Commonly, you will see the Disk Read Error when attempting to reinstall or initially install Windows XP on a separate partition of a hard drive. It occurs frequently when Windows Vista has been installed on the drive, but can also occur if a previous operating system install is creating a conflict. When the error occurs, the computer will typically hang or quit working. It can also occur if you have selected the “boot legacy operating system and launch setup options” when running Winnt32.exe.

How to Fix the Disk Read Error?

There are a couple of methods that you can use to fix the disk read error associated with Windows XP installations. They are:

1 – Use your Windows XP CD to reinstall the operating system.

2- If using Winnt32.exe to install Windows XP, choose the “launch setup” menu configuration option vice the “boot legacy operating system” menu choice. This option will be given to you when restarting the computer after running the Winn32.exe application.

3 – If the Disk Read error still occurs, then you may find that the folder which can’t be opened was created using the NTFS file system on a previous installation of Windows prior to the install of Windows XP. The security identification for the folder changes with the change in file system resulting in the error. To resolve you must:

Disable or turn off simple file sharing by selecting “Start,” “My Computer,” “Tools,” “Folder Options,” “View,” “Advanced Settings,” “Use Simple File Sharing,” and the “Ok” menu buttons in sequential order.

Right click the folder that is creating the error and choose the “properties” menu button.

Pick the “Security” menu tab followed by the “Advanced” and “Owner” tabs. In the subsequent “name” listing click the “user name” that you are logged into the computer under and choose the “replace owner on subcontainers and objects” check box followed by the “Ok” menu button followed by the default “Ok” or “yes menu options.

A common error that can arise when you try to install Microsoft Office is getting error 1402. If you get the error, it will normally state something similar to: “Error 1402. Could not open key: <Keyname>. System error 1009”. If you get the error, it does not mean you can’t install Microsoft Office, but will need to do some troubleshooting on your computer in order to complete a successful installation. The steps may vary slightly to troubleshoot on your computer depending on the version of Windows being used.

What Causes Error 1402?

If you get error 1402 when trying to install Microsoft Office, the following conditions on your computer are likely causing the installation to fail:

1 – “User Profiles” is on

2 – The “active profile” on your computer has an issue

3 – You are trying to put Office XP or newer on a Windows 98 or Window Me Operating System.

How Can You Fix Error 1402?

There are three steps that you can take to troubleshoot and fix error 1402:

1 – Check and Repair the Windows Registry

If you are running Windows 98 or Window Me, they come with a built-in registry verification tool that can be used to scan and repair the computer registry for free. To do so:

Click the “Start” menu and select “Programs,” “Accessories,” “System Tools,” and the “System Information” command.

Click the “Tools” menu and choose the “Registry Checker” program.

If you get a message stating that Windows found a problem with the computer registry, follow the default screen instructions to restart your computer and repair the computer’s registry.

If you are running Windows XP or older, you can also manually run the registry repair tool on your computer if Windows did not automatically detect problems. To do so:

- Select the “Start” menu followed by “Run” and enter “scanreg/fix” followed by the “enter” key.

- Follow the default on screen instructions to run the application and repair the registry.

After you have repaired the registry, attempt the Microsoft Office installation again.

2 – Use a Different Profile to Install Office

Sometimes you can get error 1402 if the profile on your computer is corrupted. A work around that Microsoft recommends after checking and repairing the computer registry is to attempt the Office installation using another profile on your computer.

3 – Prevent Profile Interference by Disabling User Profiles

If you try an alternative profile and have repaired the computer’s registry, then you will want to disable all user profiles and attempt the Office installation. To do so:

Open the computer’s “Control Panel” and open the “Passwords” icon

Choose the “All users of this computer use the same preferences and desktop settings” menu option located under the “User Profiles” menu tab followed by the “Ok” menu button and restart the computer.

Install Microsoft Office and turn on user profiles after installation is complete.

Note, if you are using Windows Vista or Windows 7, the specific menu options to select to conduct the above actions for repairing error 1402 will vary somewhat depending on your computer’s configuration.

A common task for iPhone users is to transfer purchased iPhone apps to their personal computer’s iTunes program. Some iPhone users get confused if their iTunes won’t let them save apps to the iTunes program thinking that there is something broken or computer malware has infected the computer. In order to transfer the apps to your computer, however, you will have to make sure that the computer has been authorized to be used with your iTunes Store account with the iTunes version 7 or newer.

Authorize Your Computer Before Connecting Your iPhone

Before trying to transfer your iPhone apps to your iTunes program, you will want to make sure that the computer is authorized before you connect the phone. In order to authorize your computer you will need to:

1 – Open the iTunes program on your computer by double clicking the program icon on your computer’s desktop.

2 – Choose the “Authorize Computer” menu option on the iTunes “Store” menu.

3 – Choose Apple ID or alternatively select AOL.

4 – Enter your Apple ID or AOL screen name and the password followed by clicking the “Authorize” menu button.

This authorization must be done for each account that you have made iTunes store or iPhone app purchases.

Transfer iPhone Apps to iTunes

Once you have authorized your computer you can now take the steps to transfer your iPhone apps to iTunes. To do so:

1 – Connect the iPhone to the computer.

2- Click the “Transfer Purchases” menu button if you are prompted after connecting the phone.

If you are not prompted to automatically transfer your purchases, you will need to click the “Transfer Purchases from …” from the “File” menu.

Alternatively, you can right lick the iPhone on the iTunes source list and click the “Transfer Purchases” menu option. On a Mac you can also “Ctrl Click” the iPhone.

What to Check if You Still Can’t Transfer iPhone Apps

If you still have the “Transfer Apps” menu option greyed out on iTunes, it may be a problem with the configuration settings on your iPhone. To remove any potential restrictions for app transfers you will want to select “Settings” followed by “General” and “Restrictions” on the phone and change the setting to “Off.” After you have changed the setting, you can reattempt the previous steps to transfer your iPhone apps.

The Windows Media Player has been the standard Microsoft produced comprehensive media playing solution for the Windows operating system for a number of years. As the software has matured, it has grown to allow you to listen to music, watch movies, and connect in real time with friends and family. Windows Media Player 11 is known to have the media player error code c00d11b1 be displayed and refuse to play any media after upgrading from an older version of the player.

What Can I Do to Fix the Media Player cood11b1 Error?

Most Windows users that get the cood11b1 error find that it doesn’t matter if they were trying to listen to music or watch videos online or via CD when they get the error. The error has been more common for users that used the beta installation of the program, but still persists today. One option that you can choose to do to fix the problem but lose out on the functionality found in the newer versions of Windows Media Player is to revert to an older version of the software.

To remove the current version of Windows Media Player from your computer, you will want to open your computer’s “Control Panel” by choosing the “Start” menu button followed by the “Control Panel” options (This may vary slightly based on your version of Windows). Then choose the “Add/Remove Programs” menu option, and select the “Windows Media Player 11” program icon followed by the “Uninstall” menu button. Before undergoing this step, you will want to locate a legacy version of Windows media player to download and install after removing Windows Media Player 11. Your music and video library “should” remain intact, but I would recommend backing up to a removable media such as a memory stick or portable hard drive before removing the software as well.

The cood11b1 error has also been found to be created during online video or audio streaming with incorrectly configured Windows Media Player proxy settings. You can verify these settings by choosing the “Tools” menu option from the Media Player main menu followed by the “Options” menu choice. Then, choose the “Network” tab and choose the “Configure” menu option followed by the “Autodetect proxy settings” menu button. If you still do not have any luck clearing the error, you can also turn off the “UDP” packet option in the configuration panel.

A hardware solution to check for the cood11b1 error is if the correct audio device is selected for your computer. You will want to choose the “Tools” menu choice followed by the “Options” selection and “Devices” and ensure that “audio for your PC” is selected.

If you still do not have any success clearing the Media Player cood11b1 error, you will want to consider running a full antivirus scan of your computer as a next step to check for larger issues. Still no luck, it may be time to try Windows System restore, or running a registry cleaning software program to try and get a known good configuration on your computer. You will want to make sure that you have made backups of any new data created since your last restore point of taking the first of these two actions.

The Microsoft Windows Installer program was bundled with the Windows Operating system starting with Windows 200 and XP. The goal of the deployment of the Windows installer program was to allow developers to build programs for deployment on the Windows Operating System at a lower cost and more efficiently. You may encounter the installer error 1722 when loading a new program on your computer. The install of the program may have encountered a fatal error or have ended early in order for you to get the error. When you see the error, the basic interpretation of the installer error 1722 is that Windows has encountered a significant problem during the installation process and has terminated the operation. Many times the error results from having a damaged or outdated MSI program on your computer but can also be due to a problem with the third party software you are attempting to load on the computer.

Why Do You Get the Windows Installer Error 1722?

The first thing to check if you are getting the installer error 1722 is if the installation file is corrupted or not. You can do this by downloading the program to your computer again and reattempting the installation process. Many times, a large executable file will get corrupted when downloading to your computer, necessitating a new download. Before you try to reinstall the program, try restarting your computer before hand just to make sure all of the computer cache has been cleared.

If you still do not have any success loading the program, attempt installing on a different computer in your home. This will help you better determine if you are having a conflict on your computer or if the problem is with the installation file itself. If it works on another computer in the home, then you will need to determine what is conflicting with the program install on your primary PC. If it does not, then you may have an issue with the software being compatible with your specific version of Windows resulting in the error 1722.

How to Fix Error 1722?

If installation works on an alternative computer and not your own, you will want to update your Windows operating system to ensure you have the most updated Windows script hosting installed. If this subcomponent of Windows is outdated, then it could be the source of the problem. The source, alternatively could be an outdated MSI installer on your computer. If you want to fix the potential MSI issue, you can delete the .msi file commonly found in the “windows\installer\83780.msi” location on your computer.

If you still do not have any success clearing the windows installer error 1722, you will want to consider running a full antivirus scan of your computer as a next step to check for larger issues. Still no luck, it may be time to try Windows System restore, or running a registry cleaning software program to try and get a known good configuration on your computer. You will want to make sure that you have made backups of any new data created since your last restore point of taking the first of these two actions.

A BCCode on your computer is shorthand for a “Bug Check Code” that is used to describe a critical error that your Windows operating system has experienced which is causing a system shut down. Normally, when you see a BCCode error, you will see the infamous, Windows “Blue Screen of Death” that will list the specific error your computer encountered. You will want to annotate the error displayed as well as what programs or activity you were undertaking at the time of the error in order to troubleshoot the underlying problem with your computer.

What Causes a BCCode Error?

The best thing about a BCCode error is that you know that you have had a significant problem on your computer. Sometimes, on older builds of Windows a BCCode can result in a rebooting cycle of your computer making it difficult to troubleshoot the problem.

One of the major reasons you can see BCCode error is due to program conflicts on your computer such as from competing firewalls, antispyware programs, and gaming software. One of the simplest ways to troubleshoot a BCCode error is if it occurred after you installed a new software program or were using a website that uses significant client-side programming. If you were, then this could have caused the conflict on your computer to result in the crash. Other causes of BCCode errors come from games or multimedia programs or files that have caused conflicts on your computer. Other times, a BCCode error can result from a major computer hardware component pending failure such as the PC motherboard.

Typically, if you think the error resulted from a new software program or game, you should try disabling or removing the program to remove the fatal conflict occurring on your computer.

Fixing the BCCode Error

Fixing a BCCode error can be as simple as removing the last software program that you installed on your computer. If your computer just won’t start properly for you to remove the software, you can try starting the computer in Windows safe mode by depressing the “F8” keyboard function key during the rebooting process. If this fails, then you can depress the “F12” keyboard function key during the computer reboot in order to get access to the boot menu and try to start your computer from a recovery disk that you have previously created. After you get the computer restarted, if you did not install any new software, you will want to run an antivirus check of the computer to try to find out if the cause of problem may have been created by spyware or computer malware. If you don’t have success with these basic steps to fix the problem, you will want to research the specific BCCode error you are receiving in order to better identify the problem on your computer to fix.
