As I forge ahead in my life's journey, I find myself more and more fulfilling my dreams and doing what I love. I actually see them playing out now!

Two examples:
a: I received my B.A. in journalism (emphasis in broadcast) in 2009, and now (2 years later) Entertainment Tonight, The Insider and Radar Online have featured a celebrity home news video blog I hosted/reported--on actress Kate Hudson and musician Matt Bellamy. In addition, Radar Online and Hollywoodpq picked up my story on Amy Smart's Beverly Hills listing and the NYDaily News picked up my story on Jason Statham.
b: I'm making music and recording! :)

That's right, ya girl keeps breaking records and excelling no matter my ...oh so many obstacles. Hence, If I keep on the right track, and working hard I will be hosting celebrity news, and creating/singing/composing forever music and much more in a GRAND way.

So stay tuned America. I'm Marjani and you too will know my name, my giving and loving heart, passions and gifts from God that I would like to share with you!

Miami International Fashion Week

So, although I should be modeling in Miami's International Fashion Week and L.A.'s Fashion Week, I am writing about the up coming show instead (LOL). At least this way I can live through my writings on the wall, as writing is also a passion and gateway of expression for myself.

The 13^th Annual Miami International Fashion Week will be here before you know it, taking place March 17-20, 2011 in Miami’s Wynwood Art District. So get ready and fasten your fashion seat belts because this is now, “the official fashion week for the city of Miami.”

Just this past March on the 18^th, the President of MIFW, Beth Sobol was presented with the proclamation from Mayor Tomas Reglado, designating the largest international and Hispanic fashion event in the nation as “official.”

With top designers from around the world evoking the latest fashion trends, the ambiance of live music, delicious cuisine and with the beauty of art at the forefront of the American fashion scene--how could it not be official? The title is well deserved.

The latest collections of women’s wear, men’s wear, swimwear, jewelry and accessories attract celebrities and the fashion elite. The show closes with the Miami Moda & Music Awards, a celebrity fashion and entertainment awards show.

Last year’s show was spectacular with featured top designers such as Silvia Tcherassi, Nicholas Felizola, Julian Chang, Jad Ghandour and Danasha Luxury.

MIFW’s official kick-off party is Thursday, January 27, 2011. The excitement and preparation is already underway and it’s sure to be another fantastic show that you won’t want to miss.

On a 219-212 vote, the House of Representatives, thanks to the Obama administration, makes history for the second time! Not only is Obama the first African American President of the United States of America, now he has kept his promise, and major legislation has passed universal health care to millions of Americans. Now I too, will have affordable health coverage, along with every other person in America. I can now say, I am proud to be an American. Since the invention of health insurance, this has been the biggest reform, and now a VICTORY for President Obama since being in office for his 1st term, and having won the Nobel Peace Prize last year.

Sleep Paralysis: “INCUBUS” A Medical Phenomena

“IT’S RUN TO YO MAMA SCARY!” That was the expression given in a blog on Weird Science, describing just how real this medical phenomenon is.

Feel Awake? Unable to move? Afraid? Seeing and feeling an evil presence? Being undesirably sexually seduced? Is your sense of sight and hearing alert? Unable to scream for help? Your voice stripped? Rebuking in the name of Jesus? Trying to wake up and move? Seems forever…terrified, wake up drenched in sweat and/or scared?
Yes, those are all the trippy symptoms of this troubling night TERROR. Now, doing research on this state of mind, I will share my findings, amidst trying to understand why this happens to people of all different backgrounds and spiritual beliefs that has spanned over centuries.

SLEEP PARALYSIS:

Researchers suggest sleep paralysis is a sign that your body is not moving smoothly through the stages of sleep. Sleep paralysis is not a dangerous health problem, but it is the feeling of being conscious but unable to move and speak during the transition of wakefulness and sleep.

“Sleep paralysis is due to an ill-timed disconnection between the brain and the body,” according to Medicine Net. A frightening temporary form of paralysis indeed, compared to a permanent state of paralysis. The oddity is that, as soon as the brain and body re-establishes a connection the person is able to move and speak again, it’s the most anxiety-heightened experience!
Some say, this is a time of when one experiences their sixth sense, in which half of all people are believed to experience sometime in their lifetime. A person experiencing sleep paralysis feels mortal fear or extreme panic, and hence, the brain generates and releases internal visual and/or auditory stimuli, producing hallucinations.

Now, in this state of mind, the terrorist is known as Incubus, in other cultural myth tales, the terrorist has different names respectively as such:

“Incubus:” Half man half beast, attacking in the night to have sex with a human woman
“Succubus: Demon who takes on the form of a female to have sex with a human male
“Old hag:” in Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet and alien abductor also known in Newfoundland as an old witch that sits on the chest of the paralyzed sleeper.
“Kokma:” in the West Indies (a ghost baby who jumps on the persons chest and attacks the throat of the sleeping)
“kanashibari:” in Japan
“Gui Ya:” in China (sit and assaults the sleeper)

And this state of mind in medical terminology is known as:

postdormital (after sleep) paralysis
predormital (before sleep) paralysis
Waking paralysis
REM sleep atonia
Sleep apnea

MEDICAL BREAKDOWN:

So whatever you want to call it, these shadowy evil creatures taunt helpless people in their sleep, thus evoking feelings of terror. Medical professional break down when, during the sleeping and waking periods, this interim of paralysis takes place.

If you are in the process of falling asleep, the evil you are seeing is because of the hypnagogic or predormital sleep paralysis state you are experiencing—hence A FIGMENT OF YOUR IMAGINATION! Although these symptoms often direct the victims to believe in ghosts, it is the mis-transmission of neural signals in the brain that causes sleep paralysis, according to medical science, but I beg to differ … I think sleep paralysis is a spiritual paranormal experience.
But I guess…

Scientist say, when someone is in the midst of falling asleep and relaxing, one becomes more and more un aware and does not notice the changes that differ from being awake and sleeping. This is when the problem surfaces… If you remain aware or become aware of sleeping, this is when one may notice the inability to move or speak. This is not an out of body experience and the visions you see and feel happen in body, and in the same surroundings in which you sleep in, making it seem like a reality.

Confusing yet? I know its trippy like I said.

NREM and REM:

Again, if you are in the process of waking up it is called hypnopompic or postdormital sleep paralysis. This is when one is sleeping and the body is alternating between rapid eye movement (REM) and non-rapid eye movement (NREM). NREM occurs first, and takes up to 75 percent of your overall sleep time, lasting about 90 minutes. At the end of NREM your body transitions to REM. Your eyes move quickly and dreams occur during this stage of REM, but your body remains relaxed and muscles are “turned off,” according to Serendip Exchange.

However, if you become aware before the REM cycle has finished, you may then notice you’re paralyzed and cannot speak.

The brain's control over muscles during REM sleep, points out in this period that, a body is normally in the state of total paralysis, called a "nonreciprocal flaccid paralysis.” This is documented as a way for the body to prevent a person from "acting out" in a dream, by the brain sending signals to inhibit any muscle contractions. However, during NREM sleep, a body produces few movements like tossing in bed and producing some other motor events, such as sleepwalking and sleeptalking.
Terrifying hallucinations called, hypnagogic hallucinations, trigger sensations like a seizure, tense vibrations, sudden movement, pitch black shades that slowly go over the eyes, feeling choked or suffocated, hearing strange noises like footsteps and voices, seeing beings and/or feeling an existence of someone in the room.

NREM and REM sleep alternate in a cycle through the night. About 80 minutes of NREM sleep starts a night of sleep, about 10 minutes of REM sleep follows, and this 90 minute cycle is repeated about 3 to 6 times during the night, according to Serendip Exchange.

AN EXPLANATION, NARCOLEPSY?

Some explanations of this awful night TERROR, caused by sleep paralysis, may be linked to the sleeping disorder, narcolepsy, an overpowering need to sleep, due to the brain’s inability to regulate sleep, but of course, this may not always be the case.

Narcolepsy can occur when experiencing jet lag, sleeplessness and happens to both sexes, all ages, most common in teens, and may be genetic.

WAYS TO FIGHT BACK:

When this happens my advice is to try and fight off this with strong determination and will. Try moving, meditation, a rosary by your bed, reciting biblical passages of deliverance that come from your bible, like the Blood of Jesus. There are very helpful websites on how to plead the Blood of Jesus, and the Rosary Center and Our Catholic Faith help one to pray the Rosary.

How an episode of sleep paralysis induces visual or auditory hallucinations is still not clear, there is no explanation, for there are many unclear processes about sleep paralysis.

NOTE:

This is rarely linked to psychiatric problems.
To avoid this from happening to you, do not sleep on your back, as 70 percent of all cases happen this way.
Pray when you wake up and before you go to sleep.
Do not cross your legs when sleeping, as this may cause circulation problems, creating the feeling of being confined and restricted.
Depression may also be a contributing factor.
Don’t exercise close to bedtime.

DARE I, Attain Heath Coverage: President Obama’s New Health Care Reform Proposal

A summit to be held tomorrow by President Obama is encouraged to be a bipartisanship debate and a way to get democrats on the same page. In a parliament approach on a health care bill, reform is, and continues to be a very serious issue, not only for me, but also for the millions of American citizens that currently do not have health coverage.

I honestly don’t understand why some Republicans and even some leftist’s are skeptical about the very important issue of free health care for all U.S. citizens. Some of their “concerns,” Socialism… NOT, cost… yea RIGHT!...Prescriptions, salaries, money money, money, insurance companies and pharmaceuticals loss in financial gain... give me a break it really just breaks down to Selfishness and Greed! It is really appalling actually, and hurtful to know that YOU, worldly “privileged” people who have health care, the great paying jobs with benefits or inheritance can be so selfish to say that, universal health care would be soooo detrimental to the nation! I mean, come on? Seriously? You people care more about your pet’s health care then your own human brothers and sisters, humankind’s civilization, it’s really sad.

Film director and writer/director for the 2007 documentary Sicko, Michael Moore, I thought, broke it down, and made it very clear to the American people how we too can have a successful universal health care system that Canada, the UK, France and Cuba implement in their medical systems.Why not the U.S. get with the program? Obama’s Health care reform, as described in the Daily News, would not only be beneficial for our physical health but for our financial health as well.

What is really going on is, the government and “elitist” can afford to pay the million dollar salaries and health care of our government officials and politicians. But the average hard working, two and three job hustling folk that are “tryin’ ta make a dollar outa 15 cents,” living pay check pay check and/or a fresh out of college graduate minority, are left to go fish, with nothing to lean on, it’s simply outrageous!! So, I say to those neigh sayers, why don’t you ask me and all the rest of the hard working citizens that are working day in and day out just to make ends meet. And God forbid we get ill, because we will have to pay hand and foot just to receive medical consultation, let alone a test, medication or emergency care!

Anyway let me go over some specifics of Obama’s new plan and the state of our economy now that I have got my venting out of the way. ☺

The LA Times reports, on Obama’s health care goals. And to me, the outline sounds like a winner! Expanding coverage, tightening the insurance industries regulations to make sure they no longer discriminate and seeing better efficiencies in medical procedures to insure us all seems GREAT! What else is there to discuss or debate? It should be a no brainier.

Ok so what, there is a 10 year blueprint at a $950-billion cost. But if I recall correctly the U.S. bailed out one of the world biggest insurers, remember that? The WSJ reports on the $80 BILLION “save” for AIG! And anyway, if a bill is passed for health care reform, it will save more than we are spending over a 10 years period. That’s right! More than $100 billion, according to CNN reports by Chief Business Correspondent, Ali Velshi. Hence, we are already in major debt! So what’s more debt to the U.S. anyway, we're already broke and if we are going to go further into debt before getting out of it, it might as well go to a good cause like, the health of human kind! Geeze people? And all this talk about being eco-friendly and saving the animals is so important but us, we, “the people who make the world go round,” ---everyone can give a hoot less for! I just don’t get it.

Thinking about THE PEOPLE and NOT the party!

On to some more thoughts:

If bipartisanship actually follows through, that means you, cooperating, republicans... and democrats can get on the on the same page with each other, this heath care initiative, only needing 51 votes, will help contribute to the continued efforts by the president to--- provide tax incentives to create new jobs, raise education standards and eliminate preconditions set by medical system, a way of discriminating. This bill must pass in the house and senate!

Now here is what else I gather, in a brief synopsis of the current state of our economy according to the NY Times. The United States (key words) of America has the largest economy, worth $15 trillion in goods and services and “the fourth largest output,” equivalent to every person being worth more than $45,000. Now that, I believe is more than enough evidence that health coverage for every citizen does not lie in “Walter Mitty land.”

NOW, three years ago ,in 2007 is when our economy took a turn in recent years, which was heavily based off of the real-estate woes, and said to be the greatest and longest RECESSION since the GREAT Depression in the 1930’s, that’s right a down turn. But wait just late last year The Federal Reserve Bank’s policy-making committee announced that the recession is ending! Whoa! Whad’ do ya know, a year and eight months, YES, LESS THAN TWO YEARS, into office, after inheriting a slue of enormous bad debt, terrorist attacks in 2001, the wars, a dot-com leak, and bad judgment on former President Bush’s account, OBAMA is keeping the hope alive. His promises will come to fruition! I will be watching the summit on Thursday and the people need to get involved and make their thoughts known to save this country.

The Clog, Spring's 2010 Fashion Shoe

The clog is back for the Spring of 2010, and all the rave is making waves in Los Angeles, as the slip on high heal is back from the 80’s with 70’s influences!

Buckle it, Denim them down, dance with them, darken them with an eerie vampire flare and/or go to work in them! That’s right! More versatile then ever are these crazed clogs as a blast from the past.

The clog is definitely not a fashion faux pas this year, as Apparel News details some of the latest creative designs these clogs have to offer in your updated wardrobe. The clog made its debut as a hit for this years trend on the Channel runway, according to an LA Times article titled, “Clogs Stand Tall for Spring,” written by Melissa Magsaysay.

Last fall 4-inch clog platforms graced the runway at the 2010 Spring Channel runway show. As the Channel line gives a “haute” look to the clogs, designers such as Steve Madden and Stuart Weitzman are also adding their own flare to the clog this season. Madden gives more of a dainty clog feel while Weitzman gives the clog more of a vintage approach. Banana Republic even has a name for one of its clogs, the “Rosita," an open toe high heal clog.”
Looks like everyone is trying to get their hands on a piece of the spring fashion craze don’t miss out on satisfying your clog fever as well.

bLaCk, BlUe, PurPle, of course Red (and shades of), YeLlow, grEen, BrowN, WhIte, OranGe,… did I miss anything? Pink and Purple wings outline the black stem around the eyes, a butterfly on the face of a princess…Yes, the colors of the rainbow, can all arise when being a victim of domestic violence. …From celebrity cases, like the most recent in headline news, regarding the Rihanna and Chris Brown case, to ordinary everyday cases of domestic violence--disfigurement, pain, discoloration and sometimes death, is a reality.

Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E)…remember this classroom taught program led by police officers, back in grade school? That was the slogan that every child had to study and memorize, at one point in the 90’s. Well, in addition to D.A.R.E, I say Men Abuse Resistance Education (M.A.R.E). Ladies, domestic violence happens everyday no matter class, race, religion, sex or region and if it can happen to a high profile celebrity, a friend or a stranger it can happen to you too. Signs of an abusive and dangerous relationship: verbal/Emotional abuse (name calling, threats, bigotry, inequality, bad/ quick to temper, inappropriate remarks, irrational uncontrollable behavior, this of course, in or out of the public arena, etc.) physical abuse (hitting, biting, throwing items at another or using items as a weapon to inflict injury to another, etc.)

Early in a relationship you should notice these signs and run, run far far away. Women should be treated like a Queen, a delicate flower or butterfly and not be treated like cattle, or have a butterfly imprint on any part of their body caused by physical wounds, inflicted by her partner. This is unacceptable and there is no excuse. Once a man verbally and/or physically disrespects you, he will do it again. There should be no second chances given to furthering the relationship. The longing for love, companionship, money or material things are not worth the long-term emotional and physical distress that he can do to you. A model turned unrecognizable, a beautiful person disfigured and bruised for what???!! For love, no that’s not love, that is an illness that one needs to cure within and develop self-love. But when you know you shouldn’t go back or contact your once, significant other--- But you still want to because of the sadness, the grief, the heartache and the pain, what do you do? When all that pressure is so unbearable and you are depressed. When you’re dying inside and can’t cope, but the irreconcilable damage has been done… fear arises and all you wanted was his love. When will true love and trust become my reality? And so, the healing process begins. Fly high butterfly, fly high, don't touch the ground butterfly, the sky is high, don't touch the ground butterfly, or you'll die, go right butterfly, go right in the night sky, for you'll surely reach what I call, the most high! You'll be alright butterfly you'll be alright, don't cry butterfly, don't cry, wipe those tears you've shed, wipe those tears and just hold on tight to that little light, that's called faith!

The Real Housewives Of Atlanta and The Reunion!

So, I have been following the show The Real Housewives of Atlanta on Barvo! Seriously, it was the only show I followed or tried to catch religiously! And, it surprisingly really caught my attention. I was entertained through each episode. It had just enough drama, and then it had its normal, relatable aspect in the show.

For example, NeNe and the search for her biological father. I would think every human being wants to know who their parents are, even if they are a load of crap. On another note, NeNe please, admit to yourself that you are "ghetto" lol and Kandi .. maybe a lil country.. but you Ghetto grl...

Another example, Kim, yearns for money and security in a man, like most women, to fill that void of real love and partnership. And sometimes women get blind sighted by this as well, as she did, being that her sugar daddy, or “Big Papa” is “married, with children,” yet “proposed to her…” EXACTLY! That was a joke!...But note to Kim, I'm lovin the Wig line, I think it's a good route for you!...Anywho, on to the next,

Sheree’s relatability is, the need to always reassure her that she is so high and mighty and beautiful. She does this throughout the show by having a HUGE portrait painted of herself and various parties for herself. She also exuded her narcissist-ness through exercising, have you seen her muscles??? Yikes! Anyway... I guess she is getting older… But really...Sheree....please... your nose.. uh um.. anyway lol ...

Lisa on the other had is trying to find her niche in society as far as her career… as she imitates Sheree’s dream of fashion and as she is of mixed race and married to a black man, the other half of Lisa’s heritage.. Lisa dear, I'm sorry but you were the least exciting character on the show in my opinion....

And last but not least…Kandi. You know? I didn’t even realize who she was on the show until they mentioned her older albums!!! I LOVED her single “Don’t Think I’m Not” as a teenager. Lol… I listened to her music all the time, I'm also loving her new single "Fly Above"… Anyway, as I was watching the reunion special tonight ( favorate character on the show) I was purely interested to hear about the tragic loss that Kandi faced with her ex fiancé's passing due to a club fight. My deepest sympathy goes out to her, her family as well as AJ’s friends and family. It just brings me back to reality. Please, people do not take people for granted because; like Kandi said, she was just talking to AJ over the phone that same day of his passing. One day you’re here the next you’re gone.

I hope this also brings the ladies on the show together and to appreciate them despite their petty disagreements and differences. I applaud the director and production team for this reality show! I also think The Real Housewives of Orange County is going to flop, because well, I’ll let you go figure… ha! But I can’t wait to see the reunion part two… to watch Kim’s hilarious performance of “Tardy for the Party” hahah SMH, lol … so exciting!!!..to be continued. ☺
