The River Paraguay is the second major river in the Rio de la Plata watershed, it runs over a course of approximately 2,549 kilometers (1,584 miles) from its headwaters in the Brazilian state of Mato Grosso to its confluence with the Parana River north of Corrientes, covering a vast area of land that includes major portions of northern Argentina, southern Brazil, Uruguay, parts of Bolivia and the entire country of Paraguay. Unlike many of the other great rivers of the Parana basin, the Paraguay has not been dammed for hydroelectric power generation, and as such it is navigable for a considerable distance. This makes it an important shipping and trade corridor, providing a much needed link to the Atlantic Ocean for the otherwise landlocked nations of Paraguay and Bolivia. It serves such important cities as Asuncion and Concepcion in Paraguay and Formosa in Argentina. The tool of the day trader when analyzing the forex, futures, or stock markets is the price chart. Very simply a price chart is a chart showing the movement of the price of a financial instrument over a chosen time. Most charts will allow a wide variety of time frames to be displayed and the time frame that day traders choose to use varies widely and depends on each traders trading style. In general, longer term traders will focus on daily time frames and above, and shorter term traders will focus on intraday charts such as hourly or 15 minute charts. Many traders will also use a combination of time frames in order to get a full picture of what price has been doing by, for instance, looking first at a longer term daily chart, then moving to an hourly chart, and then finally to a 15 minute chart.

Collinsville Trade Day home
At Collinsville Trade Day you can find homemade ice cream, hand dipped corndogs, ... miles from Interstate 59. Fletcher's Dry Goods was not only a well known landmark in the local area, but was also beginning to attract clientele from neighboring towns. Neil's thoughts were now occupied with ways to take his business to a new level. The strength of Fletcher's lay in their personalized service, which had helped them build long-standing relationships with customers. Neil wanted to reach out to a wider audience, yet retain that personal touch. That's when someone suggested database marketing.

Since the founders of the business had always accorded special importance to their client base, customer orientation was very much part and parcel of Fletcher's philosophy. Technological advances provided them with sophisticated tools to manage their customer information, and Fletcher's goods were among the first in their county to adopt computerized data management. This put them in prime position to launch a database marketing campaign without expending extra effort to gather, sift and sort customer data.

If you own a business catering to a wide customer base that has a degree of homogeneity, it's worth considering a database marketing initiative at some point. If you're wondering what the hoopla is all about, allow us to offer a quick explanation.

Database marketing has many definitions, but broadly, it is the usage of an electronic repository of detailed customer information to drive marketing efforts. Companies that use database marketing spend time and effort in gathering, organizing and analyzing customer data on a continuous basis. This information is stored in the form of an electronic database, which makes it easy to retrieve, manipulate and draw conclusions. The power of database marketing lies in its ability to target individual or groups of customers with messages specifically tailored to their needs. For example, a bank might target communication about a new mortgage product to young couples in their thirties, but direct a similar message about college education loans to older couples with children.

Database marketing campaigns fall back on a variety of media, depending on factors such as budget, reach, customer preference, appropriateness etc. Thus, you could employ a mailing campaign, or use a direct contact approach such as the telephone. This brings us to the difference between direct marketing and database marketing. While both result in direct customer contact by marketers, the latter is notable for the attention paid to the analysis of customer data. Database marketers are likely to rely on data warehousing techniques to manage huge volumes of customer data and employ analytics and statistical methods to derive maximum insight from raw numbers. Further, they might build models that help refine customer segmentation and even predict behavior. This arms them with a better understanding of what value proposition they should make to each of their customer segments, and improves the chances of marketing success. The book "Statistical Modeling and Analysis for Database Marketing: Effective Techniques for Mining Big Data" by Bruce Ratner available on amazon.com might be of particular interest to data intensive businesses.

So, is database marketing the exclusive preserve of large consumer goods companies? Not so. While a reasonably large customer base is desirable in order to make the effort economically viable, business-to-business marketers also employ this technique to good advantage. While consumer businesses are likely to have detailed information about their customers, such as buying history, preferences and frequency of transactions apart from basic contact details, business-to-business marketers may have to rely on methods such as employing a sales force or using online contact to understand the end customers of their product. As far as marketing to prospects is concerned, both types of businesses can choose to purchase ready databases from a host of companies that sell them.

While database marketing offers many advantages including a high return on investment if used the right way, it does face some resistance from the target audience. Evans

Marketing, Promotion, Advertising or whatever you want to call it is getting more and more important each day as competition in every business increases.

One of the many ways you can market or promote your business is by using Corporate Logo Golf Balls.

Quite simply, Corporate Logo Golf Balls are just golf balls with a company or business corporate logo imprinted right onto the ball.

Companies who host golf tournaments for their clients and customers hand out these balls to promote their business.

Whether sponsoring a corporate golf event, giving away gifts for the holidays or holding your own company event using corporate logo golf balls is a very effective way to get your company branding and message out.

The next time one of your customers goes golfing, reaches into their golf bag and pulls out a packet of golf balls imprinted with your corporate logo, your marketing message will once again be reinforced possibly weeks after the event where you gave them the golf balls.

How about printing your customers' business logo onto a set of golf balls with your own company logo on the other side of the same ball then send them out during a promotion of some kind; what a great way to keep your company branding in front of your customers even if they don't play golf.

You can feature your company logo on the ball along with contact details on the opposite side of the ball or you can take one of the more popular brand names like Titleist, Maxfli, Callaway, Nike Golf, Dunlop, Taylor Made, Bridgestone, Ben Hogan, Top Flite, and Precept and have your corporate logo printed on the same ball as one of them.

While making the decision of what to print onto the ball you'll have to take into consideration that since the ball is only small the design would have to be clear and probably round as this would work better on a round ball.

It doesn't necessarily have to be a logo or any graphics; it could just be text with your company name and phone number, web address and maybe your company tagline.
Handing out free corporate logo golf balls gets your company noticed and builds and maintains successful business relationships with your customers, employees and suppliers.
Don't forget, you can also imprint your name and logo on golf tees, towels, golf bags, golf clubs, markers and divot repair tools etc. in fact anything for the golfer, to help get your marketing message noticed and remembered.

These items are not only good for business promotion but also make nice gifts for family or friends that are interested in sports, especially golfers.

It just might be time to start on a new promotional campaign featuring Corporate Logo Golf Balls as the main giveaway.

For more information on Corporate Logo Golf Balls and more on golf, please visit us at http://www.realworldgolf.com

Step Carefully When Venturing Into a Foreign Market

By Akhil Shahani

You've set up and run a business successfully for some years now. The company is humming along and you're at a loose end. Been thinking of venturing into a foreign market? Great idea! But before you get on that plane, take a few moments to read what we've got to say.

There are a number of challenges a company faces when it internationalizes. Managing cultural differences is topmost among them. Venturing into a foreign market without understanding its characteristics beforehand, is a sure recipe for disaster. So is introducing a product or service which has succeeded in your home country, without testing the market demand for it in a new land. Most of the time, it is necessary to tweak your business strategy to align it with the cultural values of the destination market. Don't believe us? We've got a few real examples of large companies that learned the hard way.

Do you speak my language? That's the first question people will ask you. If your business is dependent on blue collar workers, it's always a good idea to hire a local supervisor to manage them. Not only does it facilitate communication, especially when you have no knowledge of the local language, it also creates a comfort zone for the worker level staff. When employees feel free and at ease in the workplace, it usually results in better productivity. Companies that have not followed this policy have learned the hard way. Wal-Mart, the all-American world's largest retailer, entered Germany in 1997, struggled for years, and finally left the country in 2006. One of its biggest problems was a misfit between the Wal-Mart way of work, and the more traditional style favored by local junior employees and workers. To add to that, the top management was from the United States, and didn't speak any German. Likewise, the local employees didn't attempt to learn English, perhaps because Wal-Mart's official language was English, even in Germany!

What's in your shopping cart? Before venturing into a foreign market, a company must do its homework well - and the first assignment is to understand the shopping habits of consumers. In some countries, people still prefer to shop in small outlets, and not at super centers or supermarkets. Japan is a prime example, and you'd never guess that the reason behind their shopping preferences was the fact that the country is prone to earthquakes! As a result, people live in small houses, with minimal storage space. Hence, the Japanese housewife is not likely to load her grocery cart with a month's supplies, as most supermarket shoppers do in western countries . In contrast, shoppers in Germany prefer large stores, with a self-service format. Just make sure you know where you're headed.

What's for dinner tonight? This is perhaps the most important question of all. It is well known that eating habits are the most difficult to change, so why are we even trying? If you're in the food business, make sure you customize the taste of your products to suit the local palate. Don't believe us? Well, in that case why would Pizza Hut have a tandoori topping in India? Did you know when Starbucks entered France, it had to change its American-style coffee to cater to the Espresso-loving French folk?

Mind your manners. Yes, you heard us right! Cultural practices vary across countries, and gestures that are totally acceptable in one part of the world may be offensive in another. Businesses venturing into a foreign market must ensure that their expatriate staff are well trained in cultural do's and dont's. Extending that example, take note that certain cultures are more conservative and less prone to experimentation or risk taking. Even kids' entertainment companies have had to sit up and take notice - when Disneyland gave its Paris amusement park a French flavor, its popularity zoomed! On the other hand, the Hong Kong population didn't quite like the "local" character of their Disneyland!

While there is no tried and tested formula for success in foreign markets, there is an absolute rule to be followed - and that is to know your market thoroughly before plunging in. Different companies have done it in different ways - either through market research, employing the services of consultants, aligning with a local company as a joint venture partner or placing a force on the ground for several months before making any moves. Take your pick.

Hi, I'm Akhil Shahani, a serial entrepreneur who wants to help you succeed. While selling is fraught with complexity as businesses cater to a wide spectrum of buyers spread across time and space, the tools of technology have helped streamline the process. Thanks to database marketing, customer information has never before been as meticulously documented. Marketing databases are a super precious electronic compendium of buyer information that companies spend big bucks to maintain. What does an ideal one look like?

There's probably no single correct answer to that question, but in general, a company serious about database marketing must cover the following bases:

The database must be complete as far as possible. All customers and potential buyers must be listed as individual "items", with the possibility of grouping them into market segments based on certain parameters. Contact details should be complete and updated.

A history of past transactions, including exposure to any communication from the company must be maintained. There should also be a possibility of recording feedback and reactions to earlier campaigns.

The data must be easy to handle, manipulate, retrieve and analyze. It must support marketing objectives - for example facilitate generation of mailing lists, be user friendly and flexible.

Ideally, the database must be able to generate sufficient insight so as to make market research redundant!

Unfortunately, the world isn't perfect, and neither is database marketing. The level of sophistication of databases in different companies varies to a great extent. Also, since marketing databases are seldom static, they too evolve as the business matures. Broadly, database marketing companies might have adopted any one of the following approaches to their customer databases.

Sales register: This type of database is more of an accounting tool, similar to invoicing software. It helps maintain sales data on a transaction by transaction basis, with the focus being on the sale and the not the customer. Thus, it might not be able to handle information of interest to the marketing staff - such as buyer behavior, purchase frequency etc. It also suffers from a big drawback of not accommodating data on prospective customers. Companies that use such databases might have to bring in a separate prospects database and use it independently in their campaigns.

Multiple lists: Some businesses might maintain customer-centric databases aligned to marketing needs; the only problem is that they may have too many. Thus, it would take a lot more effort to run a coordinated campaign for all their customers featuring in different lists. Not an ideal situation, obviously.

Master database: Only one database is used across all campaigns. This database is likely to document all customer related information in detail. Marketing campaigns are planned using the insight generated from this database, and there is a more "together" approach involving several departments and functions. For example, if a burst of marketing activity is planned which is expected to generate immediate sales, then, production, warehousing and logistics may need to prepare themselves ahead.

Integrated database: This is the stuff that database marketing dreams are made of. While networking all divisions may never be a possibility, sophisticated databases are moving in that direction. Information is shared across several functions, and adequate links are provided which enable smooth and timely transfer of data.

Clearly, database marketing is an indispensable part of any marketing oriented organization. And that's why there are so many books written about it, including "Statistical Modeling and Analysis for Database Marketing: Effective Techniques for Mining Big Data" by Bruce Ratner available on amazon.com.

Hi, I'm Akhil Shahani, a serial entrepreneur who wants to help you succeed. Don't actually do these things. (Don't worry; you won't want to anyway.)

Do you want to know how to bring up your network marketing business at family reunions? The company picnic? At parties? At happy hour? How about at church? How about the next time you're at the doctor's office? There's a good chance the receptionist (or the person next to you in the waiting room) doesn't know about your business opportunity and would love to have you come over for dinner and "show the plan!" Don't be shy. Have you ever tried standing in the mall? There are HUNDREDS of people there every day who are starving for your opportunity! You know what they say: "When in doubt, yell it out!"

If you're new to network marketing, let me spare you some agony and hopefully save you from the "NFL" club (short for "no friends left.") After all, your upline must have told you by now that in order to be successful in this business, you need to talk to X number of people a day, and those people don't seem eager to bring it up to you. How do you work your business into the conversation?

The answer is very simple. DON'T.

There are some unwritten rules of social etiquette when it comes to business, and a lot of uplines don't take the time to educate their new distributors on these. The penalties for violating them are stiff. I'll cover the "big three" here.

1. Don't talk about your business unless you're invited to talk about it. If someone asks what you do, you can quickly say, "I'm an architect and a distributor with ABC company." Don't say any more unless they ask you to tell them more. If they're interested or curious, they'll ask questions. Let them pull the information out of you. Don't push it on them. That's a telltale "sleazy salesperson" sign.

2. Be up front about your agenda if you have one. If you're calling a friend on your "warm market list" that you haven't talked to in awhile, just call them to say hi and re-establish contact. As for when to bring up the business, see rule #1. If you're calling someone with whom you already have regular contact, be direct and tell them why you're calling (or walking over to their cubicle). Don't beat around the bush or precede your business pitch with, "Oh, by the way..." People see right through that. It tells them at best that you lack confidence, and at worst that you're hiding something.

3. Only invite genuinely interested people to business opportunity presentations. If somebody who's not a good fit for your business comes to "see the plan" or attend an "opportunity meeting," you're wasting their time. That can leave a bad taste in their mouth, especially if they feel like they were tricked. Tell them clearly and concisely what your opportunity is. If they ask questions or show interest, invite them to a presentation. If they say they're not interested, take their word for it. Whatever you do, don't try to talk anyone into looking at your business. It devalues your opportunity and damages your credibility.

Stick by these three rules, and you'll be fine. If you find that people aren't showing any interest, you may need to find a new company (or upline).

Dave Baldwin is a staunch introvert who hung up his technical hat in 2007 in pursuit of his entrepreneurial dreams. He is known in the community of Raleigh, NC as "The Introverted Entrepreneur" and has led a number of business mastermind groups. He is committed to creating a "play for a living" business culture where every single individual enjoys the lifestyle of an entrepreneur.

Baldwin got his first experience in sales and marketing in 2002, when he took his first summer sales job selling kitchen cutlery. It was during those formative lessons that he began to see his own potential for entrepreneurship. His recent layoff from a manufacturing job had shown him what it meant to be at the mercy of someone else for survival, and he had decided never to put himself in this position again.

Baldwin is currently living in Raleigh, NC, and involved with several startup businesses including two MLM companies. He enjoys writing and painting in his spare time, and plans one day to resume playing the piano.

Designing Logos - Say Hello to Good Publicity!

By Akhil Shahani

Looking to do some great marketing for your business? An eye catching logo could do the trick. When we think of Nike, what comes to mind first is their logo; simple and powerful. Ironically, designing simple logos is not that simple. You will need to keep some basics in mind before you devise one for your business.

The point of having a logo is to make an everlasting impression in the minds of the public; every time they see your logo they should, instantaneously, link it with your business. Here are a few pointers:

Simplicity rules: As always, the less complex to comprehend, the easier to remember! This isn't as simple as it seems; designing logos conveying a powerful message with as little as possible is challenging, but it is in your best interest to keep it that way.

Keep your business in mind: Many successful undertakings work with the name of their entities to create a logo. Several dailies, such as the New York Times, follow this pattern. If you plan on the same, remember to keep it short; this will help catch attention better. Even though the idea is to profess something about your business, abstain from making any regional references; doing so could hinder the expansion of your business into other areas. However, this is not a hard and fast rule. Quite obviously, if your product or service has a strong regional association (like French wine, for example), then it is only natural that you mention it while designing logos. In a nutshell, the name you choose for your company should not only reflect the nature of the business but also be memorable.

One for all: It might be tempting to use different colors or typefaces on various occasions or materials. While it would certainly kill the monotony, it will do the same to your publicity. Stick to one logo that could be universally applied to all your products, brochures, business cards, so on and so forth.

Just the right shade: While heavenly colors on your logo might take your breath away, you must also think of how the same choice of colors would appear in a printout or a Xerox copy of an official document. It is best to stick to shades that can be reproduced easily and consistently on all types of surfaces; alternatively take care to use adequately contrasting shades. Remember also to have a black and white version ready for use.

One size does not fit all: Check how your image turns out when copied in different sizes. If it starts to look like something you didn't intend when enlarged, then you might want to pay some more attention to the contours. You may not be able to meet all the specifications on your own; using professional software for designing logos is a good bet. Employ someone with the requisite technical expertise to design your logo according to your specifications. At designgraphics.org you could find all the help you need with professional graphics. "Logo Design Workbook: A Hands-On Guide to Creating Logos", by Sean Adams, Noreen Morioka and Terry Stone, available at amazon.com, can teach you more about the ideal logo.

Spending time on designing logos might not seem like a priority, what with the workload of being self-employed, but it most certainly is. Think of it this way...your logo will speak for you when you are not around to introduce your business. Increasing complexity has been accompanied by the development of sophisticated tools to enable marketers decipher their markets. Consumer research is invaluable for businesses seeking to stay ahead of the game.

Today's educated customers demand high-quality goods and services. It has traditionally been the role of consumer research to identify how consumers think and deconstruct their decision making process.

One of the formal definitions of consumer research says that it is "The study of individuals, groups, or organizations and the processes they use to select, use, and dispose of products, services, experiences, or ideas to satisfy needs and the impacts that these processes have on the consumer and society."

Consumer research can have a far reaching impact on your marketing strategy, since it seeks to analyze issues such as:

Consumer Decision-making: Any purchase is made to satisfy human needs and wants. Decision making depends upon the degree to which product performance meets customer expectations. Involvement and habits play an important role in the decision making process. Involvement refers to the personal importance of the purchase - does it merely have functional value or is there a high emotional quotient involved? Alternatively, many decisions can be based on habit. Consumer research plays a vital role in understanding the internal and external factors that influence the act of purchasing.

Consumer Information Processing: Generally, there are four stages to the way in which a consumer processes information. 1) understanding the features of a particular product or service 2) storing this information in memory 3) forming an attitude towards the product or service in question 4) making inferences prior to decision-making.

Values and lifestyle: Values provide the motivation for purchase and lay the foundation of consumer lifestyles. They are usually influenced by culture, family, media, etc. and differ from person to person. Consumer research tries to understand how consumers use products and services to attain their cherished values. From a marketing point of view it is important to know how consumers are influenced by their environment and address differences accordingly.

Understanding consumer lifestyle can also open up avenues for the development of new products or services. Small wonder, that consumer research is at the heart of any new product development. It finds wide application in exploring, testing, validating product design, development of new products and improvement of existing ones.

There are two ways of conducting consumer research:

1.	Primary Research, where information is gathered directly from consumers. This is again classified into two categories a) quantitative research like surveys, tracking, experiments etc. and b) qualitative research like face to face interviews, focus groups, observational research etc.
2.	Secondary Research, where published information is accessed from other sources such as research reports, consulting firms, magazines, online media and others.

The choice of consumer research depends on a range of issues such as product category, research objectives, and of course, budget. Sites like TradePort which offer a tutorial on how to conduct and use market research can provide greater clarity. So could books such as "Know Your Customer", "Consumer Behavior" and "Acknowledging Consumption".

Hi, I'm Akhil Shahani, a serial entrepreneur who wants to help you succeed. How can you advertise your new business? Hand out your business card, what else! A business card can be an entrepreneur's best friend and a valuable marketing tool. The problem is that too many people have business cards that simply blend into the multitude.

How can you make your business card stand out from the pack and grab the receiver's attention? We've come up with 9 design elements to make your business card a unique marketing tool. Here goes.

*	Develop a one-line slogan - When someone looks at your business card, can they immediately tell what your business does? Create a one-line slogan that will help people remember what you sell. Include the slogan on your business card. Typically 6 words are enough to get the message across - if they are the right words.

*	Include your contact details - Tell readers how to contact you by phone, fax, and mail. Most importantly, include your website address because if your business is interesting that is the first place a prospective client will visit. It is surprising how many business cards miss this vital information.

*	Make your card readable - Does your business card have a font size so small that you need to hand out a magnifying glass along with it? If recipients can't read the contact information, you've already lost them. Use font sizes that are big enough to be easily readable. Always use a light background with dark text.

*	Use good card-stock paper for printing - Do you want to be perceived as a professional company meaning business? Then, do not skimp on money when it comes to your business card. Have it professionally printed on good heavyweight business card stock. A poor quality card shows your business in a poor light.

*	Use color judiciously - A bit of color never hurt anyone! Same is the case with your business card. Spice it up with a little splash of color and you'd be surprised what a difference it makes. Among all the colors, red is the one that will stand out. Use a light background. A word of caution! - do not use more than 2 colors for text and avoid grey text on a white background.

*	Use both sides - Why leave one side of the card blank? You can put it to great many uses. Print a recipe on the back if you are in the food business, a mortgage loan interest table if you are a real estate agent, or even, just a calendar.

*	Shape your card - Why stick with the same boring rectangle? Use squares, circles, ovals and triangles to make your card stand out. If the shape can be associated with your business, all the better to grab attention.

*	Teach a new language - If your business is global, why not add multiple languages for your business name or print the phonetic spelling of a difficult to pronounce name.

*	Add your picture - Yes, you heard me right! This will not only make your card stand out, but also help the recipient connect your face with your business.

Above all, always carry your cards with you. What good is it having a box full of business cards if they're just sitting there collecting dust? Who knows, you might just meet a prospective client in a chance meeting today!

Hi, I'm Akhil Shahani, a serial entrepreneur who wants to help you succeed. While both can yield a return for your business, if you do not receive anything in return, it is just a charitable donation or a waste of money, in the case of a for-profit sponsorship. So once you have made the decision to sponsor something, it is time to put it to work for you.

Usually, when you are a sponsor, you receive name mentions and signage. These come in the form of logos on all literature, banners, prizes, etc. You may be sponsoring a certain segment, stage, person, or item and you name is mentioned as the sponsor. Many times, in the case of charitable sponsorships, you get a table for you and a few guests, and the table will have your name on it. The list goes on, but you get the point. Most people who ask for a sponsorship know you need to get something back in return.

At this point, most people stop. They write-off the expense of the sponsorship to advertising or charity and move on, but why stop now? Even if your company has a sponsorship ledger, it is probably a sub-ledger of advertising and/or promotions. If you include it in this category, why not treat it like the other expenses? Why not use it in conjunction with your other advertising and promotions? If you take some time to think about how you can coordinate other advertising strategies, you will find a lot of opportunities available.

The first place to start is the event itself. Just because you have sponsored a certain person, place, or thing, doesn't mean they will prohibit you from being at the event promoting. If you don't ask, they can't say yes. Sometimes you may have to opt for a larger sponsorship, but this can bring some negotiation. Here is an example: a community fair. You are considering a small to medium sponsorship, but you want to incorporate other promotions with it. You ask the coordinator what is available to the largest sponsors and it means more signage and mentions. You ask how many of the large sponsors they have, and you can tell they have room for a lot more. This is the time to ask, "If I commit to your large sponsorship, can I have my employees pass out flyers at the event?" The coordinator is looking at the dollar signs you have just suggested and is a lot more susceptible to say, "YES!" You may even be able to offer a few more dollars to receive this opportunity. Why would you want this opportunity? A personal connection with a potential client is worth 3 times if not more what it costs to run a magazine ad or buy a billboard. You now have hand-to-hand promotion, and it is better if you can get your employees to hand out the flyers, because these are the people the potential customer will see when they do business with you. Also, how hard would it be for you to get a large group of people together so you could tell them about your business?

But, wait. There's more! There are other things you can do with the sponsorship. I am coordinating a charity poker tournament, and many of the sponsors are my vendors, because my company is a distributor. One opportunity I am making available is promotional materials. All of the participants are receiving gift bags filled with promotional items, coupons, brochures, etc. Just about anything a sponsor will give me will go in these bags. This gives you as a sponsor another avenue to reach an audience who has seen your logo and heard your name. Once again, you are given access to potential customers that you may have never known existed. By offering give-aways and coupons, you are helping out the cause more than just the sponsorship, and you are completing more interaction with your potential market. There are all types of ways to add to your regular sponsorship, and they will all vary according to what you are sponsoring, so just be creative.

After you have your business in front of the sponsored audience as much as possible, it is time to look to how else you can put this sponsorship to work for you. Many sponsored activities are for a charity or some type of fundraiser. How customers feel and think about your company is very important to the loyalty of your company, and any time you can let them know that you help the community is another opportunity to tell your existing customers that you do more than just your business. An example for this is a sponsorship of an organization that helps disabled kids. Since you are probably sponsoring a fundraiser coordinated by this organization, you have the opportunity to advertise this. Any newsletters, in-store signage, or other regular advertising is a chance to let your customers know that you are giving back. Get the organization's and event's logo for your advertising. This is also another chance for negotiation with the event's coordinator. Cross-promotion is important to everyone, no matter what you are doing. It would be valuable to the organization to have additional advertising for free. You may be able to settle for a less monetary donation in exchange for advertising to your customer base, and this is just on advertising you were already sending out.

You also have a reason to send marketing communications to your customers. Since you are sponsoring something, you want to tell them about it, and while you are at, tell them about your business: maybe you have a new product or you just want to remind them of what you have to offer. You can also structure specials and promotions around the event. You could coordinate with the organization to offer something for you to give to you customers, like tickets to the event or a stuffed animal, if they purchase a certain item or dollar amount. You will probably have to discount the item or service to cover the cost of the promotional item, but this gives you an opportunity to make a sale, promote it, make your customers feel good for helping a charitable cause, receive something extra, and attribute some good will to your company. The list is long, but all of this is possible with the right coordination.

When you sponsor something, you should look at it just like you would any other form of advertising. How is this going to fit into your marketing mix. Make it a part of your current campaigns or create a new one based on the sponsorship. Regardless of how it fits into your marketing plan, make it work for you. No matter how big or small your sponsorship is, you must receive something in return, or you are just making a donation. Finally, always be creative. Just like in any other promotion, creativity has a much larger impact than the common promotion. Creative coordination is an excellent way to make a sponsorship work for you!

Nate Stockard is the owner of Stockard & Associates Inc, a marketing and design firm in Houston, TX specializing in small business solutions. They bring a lot of fortunes to a business in the form of prospective customers. When distributed among the potential customers, they create a sensational impact on the brand promotion activity of a brand. It is a well established fact that the promotional products, especially the gift items such as promotional pens, earn goodwill to the company. On the whole, we can say that the pens that are imprinted with the brand name in an attractive manner can lead your business to new heights.

There are many promotional gift stores that sell promotional products in the UK. Online stores, one of the most reputed gift sellers in the UK, has a wide range of promotional pens available through its online stores. The great variety and the best quality of the printed pens sold through online stores will help you to improve in your business. Surely they will turn your brand promotion event into a grand success.

To be a market leader, you need to have tactics. The most important of all is the ability of a brand to gain the confidence of the customers. Many companies, especially the beginners try the costlier advertisements and burn their hands. They do not yield results because they do not reach to the hearts of the customers. Unless you reach out to the soul of the customers, you cannot get them to become brand loyal . The promotional products are the best means to impress the customers. They communicate the brand message to the customers in an affectionate manner. When the customer sees a promotional pen or any other gift item that is printed with the brand name, they do not perceive it as an advertisement. Rather they value it as a gift or a reward that they have received for being important to the brand. This sense of importance created by the promotional gifts boosts the confidence of the customer, and hence they become associated with the brand for a long time.

To make the best use of the promotional article, you have to apply a little bit of intelligence. Not all promotional products are suitable for you. If a promotional mouse mat created a sensation among the customers of your neighbour's business, don't be excited about it. Your business might get better response if you try at some other articles such as coasters, keyrings and caps. Don't worry; these questions are out of your concern because you have the set of printed pens waiting for you. The promotional pens are suitable for all businesses. This is because they are the universal gifts for all the people, including students, professionals, employees, or any simple educated person. However, as a business expands and matures, customer segmentation will add value by enabling it to:

Target appropriate products to different consumers
	Utilize marketing resources more efficiently
Stay abreast of emerging market trends

Methodology

The process of customer segmentation is quite intensive, and basically follows these steps:

Division of the market into relevant and measurable segments
Understanding the profitability of each segment
Selecting those segments that are high in profit potential, and can be suitably served by the company
Drawing up a plan that covers issues of servicing, distribution, marketing etc. to the target segments
Allocating adequate resources for the above
Measuring and monitoring performance of each segment and making course corrections as necessary

That being said, the real benefits of customer segmentation can only be derived when there is an integrated effort from all departments within an organization to serve the target market. Whether it is the product team or the servicing department, everyone should have a focused approach towards fulfilling the expectations of the consumer. Without that, it will remain a mere academic exercise.

Hi, I'm Akhil Shahani, a serial entrepreneur who wants to help you succeed. In case you haven't done much reading in that field, we'd like to tell you that USP stands for Unique Selling Point (or Proposition). It's what differentiates your product or service from those of your rivals, the one thing that singles you out from the competition.

Now, you would be right in asking how all products or services could have a USP, especially when there are so many well matched offerings in the marketplace.

Allow us to clarify. A USP is something that singles you out in the mind of your customer. There might or there might not be any difference in reality, but it's the perception that counts. Take Citibank's legendary slogan "The Citi Never Sleeps", which created an image of a safe and responsible bank in the minds of the public. Other banks could make a similar claim, but Citibank clearly took ownership of that property.

Having a Unique Selling Proposition is not just nice to have, it's a must have. Without it, your business runs the risk of

Getting lost in the crowd, as a me-too
Not being able to attract the target clientele, who might be using another product and is given no incentive to switch
Being caught in a price war, since that would be the only differentiator, given all other things are equal

That being said, your product or service must clearly deliver value to the user, or it will fail, USP or no USP!

Establishing a Unique Selling Point, especially for a run-of-the-mill or non-breakthrough product, is not easy. Rarely will a USP be obvious at first glance - why would clients pay multi million dollars to advertising agencies to create one, if it were? If you're looking to establish yours, try the following process of evaluation:

Compare your product with those of your competitors in terms of the features and benefits that each offers. Does your product offer a unique benefit?

Assuming that most competing products satisfy the same physical needs, evaluate how different they are when it comes to satisfying emotional needs. The strength of the brand plays a very important role in this case.

Features and benefits need not be the only differentiator. Analyze whether your distribution network is wider, or whether you deliver in a shorter time. Service is as big a USP as any.

For products that are high tech and expensive, the availability of spare parts and a servicing network plays almost as big a role in the buying decision as the product itself. So, if you have it, flaunt it!

Only when you've run through this list, should you even consider looking at price. Price as a USP is good only as long as a cheaper variant doesn't come along.

You may find it interesting to know that not all USPs are established by clear verbalization. Many are depicted visually or implied. What is important is that the (unique selling) point must be made in no uncertain terms!

Hi, I'm Akhil Shahani, a serial entrepreneur who wants to help you succeed. You'll likely take weeks sorting through everything in order to organize it into a cohesive and powerful marketing campaign.

Technically, however, you don't have to do most of it. You have the ability to just draw up some posters for a product you know you're about to release and just place them anywhere you can. You have the ability to get some brochures printed that explain about a product and hand them out to anyone passing by.

These are options you have open to you, and all too often these are the paths companies decide to take. They're easier, they require less planning, and you have to devote far less time to them. They are also considerably less successful and tend to waste more money then they make.

Doing all the homework initially needed to create a great marketing plan is a very time consuming job, but the thing to be aware of is that once the groundwork is laid, updating it isn't nearly as difficult.

The first time I needed to really organize my finances I decided to make a spreadsheet detailing all of my expenses and money. It took me close to six hours in total to get all of my information together and create the spreadsheet, but now that I have it, I can enter in additional information within seconds and keep careful track of everything I spend and make.

The initial work pays off by giving you a framework to create future marketing material in. It's the companies that are only thinking short term with their color printing who suffer the most, whereas if you understand that doing the right research and set up now will help you down the line, you can greatly improve all of your marketing.

Furthermore, it allows you to easily track the success of certain marketing campaigns versus the ones that didn't work as well. Now you can alter your future endeavors to capitalize on your successes and generate even more business.

The end goal is to be able to produce effective and focused marketing material in a much shorter time than you were before. Your initial time investment will save you on time later on.

The issue really just comes down to all the companies who don't bother to plan ahead and play things by ear so much they fail to capitalize on a strong base of operation. The time it takes to lay down a framework is more than worth the better marketing material you'll be able to produce.

For comments and inquiries about the article visit: Color Printing

Charen Smith writes articles about Internet Marketing. Having marketing materials that stands out and resembles your company identity perfectly is a great first step into building a successful business. Because of this, you should consider several custom printing options that you can take advantage of.

These are the most basic of the custom printing options that you can use and avail of that are being offered by printing companies today:

Variable printing - variable printing is one of the most recent and most complicated of the services offered by printing companies. It is a digital printing method that enables you to mass produce your custom prints. it is sub divided into three categories depending on the design elements that are variable.

o	On-demand short-run variable printing service - short run printing is considered as variable printing since you are printing copies of a certain design for a particular target niche. And since this targeted niche is relatively small, you need to print different prints for different niches. Short run prints allows you to do this with out any problems.

o	Selectable variable printing service - selectable variable printing allows you to specify elements in the design that you want to be retained and other elements that you want to be altered. An example is when you are printing tickets and you want to vary the control numbers. The design of the tickets remains the same but the numbers for every copy are different. Another example would be in your direct marketing campaign where in your postcards or brochures have the same design but different name and address specified in front.

o	Full variable printing service - full variable printing employs the use of top of the line computer technology and the use of programming language in order to create an algorithm that let's a computer create and print a random design for you. a specific algorithm will tell the computer which elements to retain and which elements to keep. This type of variable printing allows you to have different prints for every copy.

Custom size - if you want to stand out, then do not print in standard sizes. But you can't afford to overspend. Knowing every detail for each medium, from the printing cost to the broadcast air time, will be beneficial.

Budget Limit

You can only allot a portion of your budget to your marketing plans. You have to do this wisely. You don't want to spend more and gain less. This is an investment in which you plan to earn from. And this goal is possible if you are aided with the right materials done by the right companies.

If you are only starting, here are some techniques that can help you create a buzz in the biz.

1. Get in the news
There are ways to get your company be mentioned in the news. All you have to do is to be at the right place at the right time. You can participate in newsworthy events.

Good examples of events are those dealing with good deeds, charitable occasions and reaching out causes. These would not only get you in the news. They will give you a good business aura.

2. Get a marketing partner or partners
Advertising can be very expensive. The printing prices go up as the value of the dollar goes down. Having other companies in a joint marketing venture will save you a great deal.

This effort will also lead for easier recognition. Because you are all working together towards the same goal, everything will be done accordingly. You will also be able to reach a larger market.

3. Always give your best shot
This must be applied in every part of your business. Give out your best all the time, especially with your customer service skills. This will lead to free referrals. A satisfied customer would only be too happy to refer you to people they know.

4. Target a niche market
As a starting business, it will help you to focus on a specific market. For example, if you are selling pet accessories, who are you going to sell your products to? First, forget about dividing the market according to demographics. You are not sure how many from group one or group two are pet owners.

So for this scenario, you can go directly to pet shows and other gatherings of pet lovers. This way, you will be able to get to the core group of people who loves pets and would be willing to buy your products.

5. Your materials must always look professional
Your ad tools will represent you to the market. If you will opt for the print medium, go directly to the best printing company. Choose the one that can come up with materials that will make you look like a stable company to those who will see your ads.

Following such techniques will help you maximize your budget. It will also guide you to come up with effective plans and allot the right budget for each venture.

Study the marketing plans of other companies. Know the latest about printing prices. Create a budget limit and follow it through. This way, you will be able to use your money wisely and invest on good advertising strategies.

For more useful tips & hints, please browse for more information at our website: http://www.reprintarticlesite.com
http://www.jointventures.reprintarticlesite.com

Email Address - How it Can Make Or Break Your Professional Image

By Jess A Webb

In business, image is everything. You hear a lot of talk about "branding" and "marketing". Everyone is striving for a professional image that will help customers to trust them and want to do business with them. Most businesses focus on the big picture - the logo, the headline, the business cards, the website. While these things are important, they don't realize that there is one little thing that may be slowly but surely undermining everything else they are putting into their business image: their email address.

What does your email address tell people about you and your company? Is it yourcompany @ hotmail.com? Is it yourname @ telus.net? Or is it yourname @ yourcompany.com? Perhaps you think that something as minor as an email address doesn't matter, but let me assure you once and for all: it does!

You've seen the ads, the homemade business cards, the brochures made by a 10-year-old. You know the look. It screams homemade, basement business, mickey mouse marketing. Your first impression of the company is anything but professional. Are you likely to do business with them, or will you look somewhere else for a more professional company, someone you feel you can trust to deliver quality on what they promise? Chances are, you will keep looking somewhere else for what you need! But are you sure you are not doing the same thing in your business?

Take a look at your email address. If it is yourcompany @ hotmail.com or yourcompany @ comcast.net, what is this saying about your business? What image are you portraying? It says that your company is small, too small to have your own domain name and email address. It says that you are cheap, using a free email service or using your ISP's email service. It portrays the image of a small home-based business. Now you may indeed be small and home-based - but do you really want potential customers to have that kind of first impression of your business? Contrast that with having an email address like this: yourname @ yourcompany.com. Do you see the difference? Immediately you have more credibility, you look more professional, and your email address will be more easily remembered. The first impression has now gone from small home-based business, to professional, credible company.

So how do you go about getting your own email address? Perhaps you have thought about doing it before, but were overwhelmed because you didn't even know where to start. Perhaps the idea never even crossed your mind. Either way, you'll be glad to know that the process is not difficult. You simply need a domain name, and most domain names come with free email included! Domain names are not expensive. My favorite company that registers domain names is GoDaddy.com, and they are under $10 per year for a .com domain. That includes your email. It's simple to register and search for your domain - just follow the instructions on the screen. Any domain registrar will have a small search box for you to type in the domain you would like to search for. Once you have done the search, if it is available you can go ahead and register it. If it is not available, this means someone else got it first and you need to try a different one. Find one that says who your company is and is easy to remember.

Once your domain is registered, then it's time to set up your email account. In GoDaddy, this is rather easy. You hover over email, click on "Your Email", which will take you to your email management page. Here you can choose to use a free email credit - which you got when you purchased your domain - and it will then guide you through setting up the account. Most domain registrars will have free webmail that you can use, or you can choose to use a traditional email program to download the email to your computer. This will involve a little bit of set up as you will have to tell the email program where to find your email by entering specific urls into the correct fields.

If you don't want to take the time to do it yourself, it's easy to find someone who will do it for you for a very reasonable price. Find a web developer who offers domain name registration as part of their services. They will be able to do all of the registration and set up for you. The small cost for doing this will take the stress off of you and be well worth it!

It does not take much to make or break your image to your customers. It used to be the norm to use a free email service, or your ISP email address for your business. It used to be prestigious just to have any email address! But times have changed, calling for a new level of professionalism among small businesses if they want to keep up to the ever-changing market. Don't let your business suffer from a less than professional image because of something as small as an email address. It may be one of the easiest things you can do to add to the credibility and professionalism of your business!

Jess Webb is the owner of Advantage Website Solutions, a provider of custom business websites for the budget conscious.
