This is the very next gig. Roomrunner are from Baltimore. Looks like we're opening. Get there around 8:30?

dropping off this bill: Death by Audio, Sun. 4/8/12

2012-03-10T15:28:00.006-05:00

This show is going to be awesome, but we're no longer playing it. We have some familial obligations that day, being that it is Easter. But if you don't, you should definitely attend. Apologies to all for the confusion.

FYI: American Sun are also not playing this show. They are playing another show with Wymyns Prysyn... somewhere... the night before.

Dead Herring, Fri. 3/9/12

2012-03-09T16:15:00.000-05:00

It's been a busy week, and this show came together very quickly. Forgot to advertise it! Whoops...

This is a damn interesting line-up. And, hey... have you ever attended a show at the coziest little loft venue in town?

Tommy's Tavern, Sat. 3/3/12 ----------------------- Matt's Birthday Show

2012-02-21T16:41:00.015-05:00

Matthew Glasser's birthday is just around the corner. Let's celebrate! We'll be debuting four new songs which we feel contain some of our best-written material to date. Helping Matt ring in this next chapter in his life will be Zulus, our friend Ryan Marino (performing a mind-melting Remnants set), as well as a surprise guest...

Okay, the cat's out of the bag. It's The Men.

And it's FREE. So come out. Unwind. It's the weekend! Forget about your daily grind and watch some truly great musical performances. The beer is cheap at Tommy's, and the clientele charismatic.

As we flock towards the new (final?) year, we Marsh Hens would like to thank all of you for coming out to the shows in 2011. We made some great friends, heard some very gripping sounds/noise/music, and had an all-around ball. It was a year to remember, without a doubt.

We'd also like to inform you that we have recorded a record. It is a full-length LP, and we plan to release it to you--on vinyl--in a matter of months, in some way, and at some time.

Thanks.

And don't worry. Prophecies is some bullshit. (Probably.)

Death by Audio, Sun. 12/18/11

2011-12-12T09:39:00.006-05:00

Rob from Grids' new band, NO POWER, is on tour all the way from North Carolina. Come out and show some appreciation for your fellow Eastern seaboarders. Also, check out these other projects from members of some locals bands you may know. We're very proud to be on this bill. It should be interesting and a lot of fun.

HO. HO. HO.

The Gutter, Sat. 12/3/11

2011-11-26T12:14:00.007-05:00

This coming Saturday we'll be playing our first show ever at The Gutter. If you've never been there, it's a great space with incredible sound, and is actually a bowling alley. So come out, bring your friends, maybe hit the lanes if you feel so inclined. We'll be bringing some of our close friends, too, as they're also on the bill. Good times are comin'.

2011-11-07T09:46:00.009-05:00

WE HAVE SWITCHED OUR SPOT
AND ARE NOW PLAYING FIRST.
////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
This Wednesday we'll be playing Death by Audio (49 S. 2nd St) to support the album release of a relatively obscure but very interesting band: Tom Blacklung and the Smokestacks. It's hard really to compare these guys to anyone else, and that's a compliment.

We'll also be debuting a new song at this show called "Grips", so show your love.
Show starts at 9pm.
We go on ~~last~~ FIRST.
Probably $7?
The president is a duck.

Lulu's, Sat. 10/22/11

2011-10-14T16:35:00.006-04:00

We'll be playing a show with our friends in Passive Aggressor on Saturday, October 22nd at Lulu's, one of the best bar spots in Greenpoint. There's free pizza with every drink, if ya want it ($1 for any additional topping).

AND PIZZA IS GOOD.

Also on the bill are DBCR.

THEY ARE GOOD, TOO.

So come to this thing. It's going to be real good, mmmmmm...

on a Rooftop in Bushwick, Sat. 7/30/11

2011-07-28T13:42:00.006-04:00

Good friend John Creery, who has been gracing stages across Brooklyn for a few years now as one third of Video Daughters proper, will be spreading his wings for the sunny west coast in just a matter of days. In a last-ditch effort to do the right thing and wish him off well, this thing is happening:

Lots of bands. Possibly too many. But it's all good because it's going down on a rooftop not far from where I am typing this (off the Morgan L stop). And it is sure to be a good time. Suposedly hundreds of people are coming out for this.

We aren't sure when we're supposed to play, but the whole shebang starts at 4pm, and the soonest we can go on will be 7:30 or 8PM (since most of us will be rushing over from our work shifts).

Whether you know John personally or not, come out. It's free. It's b.y.o.b. E-T-C. You know the deal. It's hot, it's summer, we're here, let's make the most and live it up.

Dead Herring, Sat. 7/23/11

2011-06-30T12:19:00.008-04:00

We'll be playing the coziest loft venue in Brooklyn on Saturday, July 23rd. If you've never been to Dead Herring before, you're in for a real treat.

Sharing the bill with us will be Tournament, Family Curse, and fellow local boys, our pals in Passive Aggressor.
(Technites UNITE.)

DO NOT MISS.
We're gonna, like, blow your brains out, missy.

(Links all over this bit...)

Shed Fest, Sat. 7/2/11

It's happening again... and this time we're taking part.

Come out to our friend Drew's house in Whitestone, Queens, on Saturday, July 2nd, for this, the 3rd installment in the history of the legendary Shed Fests.

There will be kegs. $2 per beer, or 3 for $5.

Not to mention 6 great bands, free food fresh off the grill, and a rather cozy backyard. It's Independence Day weekend, so let's make it an awesome one.

LOCATION:
Drew's shed and backyard

Death by Audio, Wed. 6/15/11THE MEN's "LEAVE HOME" LP release

2011-04-23T15:15:00.010-04:00

This is the night that is going to pretty-much make my entire summer.

On the Wednesday night of June 15th, one of the best bands around (and the most awesome dudes, period) will be holding the release show for their 2nd full-length record, and their first on Sacred Bones: the album of the year, Leave Home.

The venue for this show has jumped around more than a toddler on a pixie stix fix, but it has officially landed at Death by Audio.

We are very proud to be on this bill along with the blow-your-mind awesome Milk Music from Olympia, WA, & local power pop champions, the killer-good Nude Beach.

I love all of these bands!!! And--while I won't suggest that you should, as well--I have to say, if you don't already, you probably fucking will.

Summer come quick.

Two more shows.

2011-04-15T12:38:00.010-04:00

We return to the godsend-of-a-venue, Death by Audio, this Monday. We'll be sharing the bill with Heavy Medical, Mens Room, and--once again--White Suns (WHO RULE). Psyched.

And at the end of this month, for the first time in our history, we will be playing Long Island (not too far out), at Mr. Beery's in East Rockaway. Come out if you can make it. Our good friends Electricians are on the bill and got us this spot.

On a side note, a side project...

2011-03-12T14:01:00.004-05:00

I'll be playing a solo gig at Death by Audio on Saturday, March 19th. It should be awesome. The Men are playing, too, as well as a couple of bands on tour all the way from la Florida.

Silent Barn, Sun. 3/27/11

2011-03-12T09:53:00.002-05:00

We will be performing at Silent Barn at the end of the month. Three of us used to live 2 blocks from the place, but we never played there... Always wanted to, though. Now it's a cab ride away, and we've got this show. Is that irony? What's the definition of irony, anyway? Anybody? Alanis?

2 shows

2011-02-13T16:32:00.004-05:00

Friday, March 4th is our singer Matt's birthday, so we're throwing a party and having a show at Tommy's Tavern. Starts at 9, and it's a free one. Here's the bill:

MARSH HENS
HIGHWAY GIMPS
ELECTRICIANS
MARK PERRO

__________________________________________

THEN...

The Saturday 8 days later we hit 538 Johnson once again, this time in the big space. That show costs 5 bucks, but should be well worth your time and cash. That bill looks like this:

THE MEN
SLICES (Pittsburgh)
RATIONAL ANIMALS
MARSH HENS
SHARDS (North Carolina)

stay tuned

2011-02-12T13:16:00.001-05:00

New songs for new shows, coming right up.

CANCELED

2010-12-25T10:03:00.000-05:00

Regretfully, we will not be playing Shed Fest this time around. You're encouraged to still attend, as many fine bands will still be doing their best to ring in the new year with a bombastic blast. Hopefully, we'll get to partake in the next Shed Fest, if one develops in the warmer months of 2011.

Happy New Year.
