Spending time with friends and family, eating so much delicious food that you think you are going to burst, and (if you are one of the brave) amazing deals on black friday that you just cannot pass up.
Thanksgiving this year was very enjoyable, despite the crazy schedule given to me by my work, because they refuse to give you a holiday off without you being in debt to them and having to make it up somehow, someway.
We spent Thanksgiving weekend at my parents house, where my uncle (moms brother) and his girlfriend came down. It was really nice to see them and visit with them as I had not seen them since tanner was just a baby. My mom really outdid herself. The food was absolutely delicious. Maddy enjoyed sweet potatos and mashed potatos on her first Thanksgiving (among her normal daily foods, of course). Tanner (my little picky eater) ate turkey, stuffing, sweet potatos, corn and a tad of green beans. I was so very proud of him as normally he is the last person at the dinner table, because he claims he "doesnt like" something that was probably his favorite food the week before.
The day after Thanksgiving we went next door to visit my godparents and cousins. I was hoping to get to see my cousin Brandon who is in the Airforce (leaving for Italy for 2 years next month). He and his dad had gone somewhere and didnt make it back there before we left. But it was nice visiting with Donna, Debbie, and Brandon's girlfriend Lindsey who i got to meet for the first time. It was a nice visit and good excuse to take pictures (not that i need an excuse).
Saturday afternoon it was time to say our goodbyes.
I see my family fairly frequently as they are not too far away. But definitely not as much as i would like. Even though i see them regularly, its still hard to leave after an extended stay at the house that i still think of as home..
Saturday evening we had another Thanksgiving dinner and Nathans stepdads house. That was a nice visit as well. It was good to see Nathans stepdad Tom, and his wife Tiffany as well as my sister in law Tabitha and adorable nephew Landon. Tanner had a ball playing with all the kids and didnt want to leave, even several hours past his bedtime.
Not long after the enjoyable weekend ended, the misery began. Monday night Maddy and i both got really sick. Paranoid with all the H1N1 going around, we went into the doctor and thankfully just had really nasty colds. Tanner followed suit getting sick next. Nathan finally gave in and our entire house was sick at the same time. Sick kids are hard to take care of when they have a sick mommy and daddy too. But its a week later now and we are all on the mend. Maddy and I are almost better. Tanner is getting there and Nathan with the super immune system is almost better already as well.
This Thanksgiving season i had/have so much to be thankful for. People tend to be more thankful and notice their blessings more this time of year. I am thankful each and every day that I am alive and able to get out of bed. And have a wonderful husband to lie down with every night and wake up to every morning. Im thankful that I have two beautiful healthy children that I am able to care for everyday. Im thankful for the roof that we have over our heads and the food on our table. Im thankful for a wonderful family and wonderful friends. Im thankful for so much that i could not even begin to name it all. I thank the Lord for His many blessings that he gives me and my family every day. God is sooo good, all year long!!!
Sorry for the length on this post. I guess im making up for all the time ive neglected my blog..
