Apple Picking 10-9-10
We decided to take advantage of near 80 degree weather and do a little fall apple picking. After an hour long car ride, everyone was ready to find the hidden treasures. Jack and Henry were very interested in the fallen apples and trying to keep the rotten apples out of our bag was half of the fun. Along with, fun playground toys, hot dogs for lunch, and playing in a sandbox, it was time to go home (but not without a bag full of apples). Elaine is now investigating how many recipes she can find to incorporate all those apples! We hope you enjoy the pics!

Jack had an absolute blast at the Easter Egg Hunt in Ida Lee Park. Grandma and Grandpa Cochran got to go with and see the action first hand. I've never seen so many Easter eggs disappear so fast!

Henry Goes Camping iPhone App.....

So Mike was busy working hard this week to develop a new iPhone application called "Henry Goes Camping". This was a book that he created before Jack was born and gave it to us the first day in the hospital.

Jack has been requesting "Henry Goes Camping" each night before bed because he loves seeing his buddy camping with mommy and daddy. Plus, Jack gets to see his name in the book on the last page. What fun! A couple weekends ago, Jack and Daddy took a trip to a local play-place for children while Mommy took a relaxing (and well deserved) morning to herself. Daddy was the only daddy in the entire place with a video camera, which he shamelessly used (though to the embarrassment of all other daddy's) to capture the moments for Grandmas, Grandpas, friends, and family alike. Enjoy!

Today we experienced another east coast blizzard....2010 is shaping up to be a historic year in terms of snowfall in this region. Luckily, we are a Norga family and the boys love playing in all this white stuff. We're all a little more than tuckered out because of all the shoveling, but are still enjoying the beautiful scenery. It looks like we'll probably have around 25 to 30 inches when it's all done a little later on this afternoon. Sweats, hot chocolate, movies, books, and blankets are in our future as we ride out the storm of the century.

Christmas would not have been complete without a Christmas eve of matching family pajamas and a labor-intensive toy assembly project for our Son. Jack got a train table from Santa this year. The bad news was that Santa left it unassembled... the good news is that he left it a day early so we weren't scrambling to put it together before he woke up at 7:20am.

After waking up, Jack went about his morning routine of feeding Henry and passionately requesting "doose" (Juice). Then, with bed-head and sleepy eyes, Jack rounded the corner into the living room where he spotted his big gift. "Choo-choo" he said... and with that, Christmas began!

There's still more to come. More family is visiting tonight, and we're putting together a video montage of Jack's morning. So stay tuned! From the Mehlbergs to all our friends and family, we wish you a very Merry Christmas!

Leesburg Blizzard of 2009

Okay, so it wasn't technically a blizzard, but it sure did snow hard. Overall, we got nearly 20" of snow over a 24 hour period... which is considerable since Leesburg doesn't get much more than 10 inches in an average year.

Christmas at the Washington's

On a beautiful, crisp December night, Bob, Eric and I met in downtown DC to take a guided tour of George Washington's house on Mount Vernon. While the house was a bit uncomfortable (apparently nobody was over 6 feet tall back then :-)), the grounds and decorations were gorgeous.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! We are so thankful for our friends and family, some of whom are pictured in these photos. We celebrated and ate way too much with our Akron families. Soon we're going to be celebrating Christmas in our home and carrying on family traditions east coast style, including matching Christmas Eve PJs. We've heard through a few elves that Santa is planning on a BIG surprise for Jack this year. All I can say is "choo choo". We can't wait to welcome the Ohio Cochrans, North Carolina Cochrans and Ohio Mehlbergs to our home this December.

Well a very large and quick spider invaded our home this morning. Forunately, it was a very cute spider and only wanted large amounts of sugar! We kicked off Halloween 2009 at a mom's club meetup where approximately 50 kids ran around the community center, ate pizza, drank juice, and trick-or-treated until nap time. Jack had a blast and the pictures tell the tale. We also have video and will add a link later today.

Jack's First Birthday Party

Well, Jack is officially 1 year old. We both can't believe how fast time flew. Now we have a walking, talking, and altogether the cutest toddler in the world (ok...so we're partial). Jack had a blast digging into his extra large chocolate cupcake (click here for the video). Most of the frosting ended up in his lap (actually, Daddy's lap), but all that sugar was so yummy and led to a nice sugar high on the way home. Jack wants to thank his friends, Sebastian, Will, Dominic, Isabelle, Xander, and Landon for joining him in celebrating his big day and all the fun gifts he'll be playing and sharing with his friends and Henry. :-) Thanks to all the mommy's and daddy's who helped in a big way (Joe, Kristen, Kristy, Matt, John, and Shelley). Outside Fun

Well, Jack has gone through another growth spurt and has a total of 8 teeth! We know exactly how many teeth because both mom and dad have been bitten by our little monster (apparently a trait handed down from his daddy) :-) He's also walking with his push stroller and standing on his own, but will promptly fall down when he notices he's not holding onto anything. He loves being on daddy's shoulders and standing at our potted hibiscus and pulling the mulch out of the pot. We love and miss all our friends and family and hope you enjoy checking out our pics.

Our Getaway Weekend

Mike and I got a "Get out of Parent" card this weekend and visited Washington D.C. We left a croupy, snotty, and all together cranky little one with his grandma and grandpa Mehlberg and Auntie Kelli. We couldn't have asked for better caretakers than them and we are still so grateful that they agreed to watch Jack so mommy and daddy could have a blast with friends in D.C. After tearfully leaving Jack, Mike and I flew into D.C. on Friday afternoon. We toured the monuments and went to bed early, knowing a busy Saturday was ahead. On Saturday we did a little shopping in the morning and met our friends Eric and Amy for lunch. The highlight and reason for all of us to visit D.C. this weekend was to watch our friend and colleague Robert Moriarty receive a promotion from Major to Lt. Colonel in the Army. The promotion took place at the Pentagon and we all were lucky enough to tour the Pentagon and were treated to dinner at the fantastic Filomena Ristorante in Georgetown. Elaine's favorite moment of our trip was watching the two-star General promote two outstanding American men to Lt. Colonels. Mike loved the dinner with Bob's friends and family. We were surrounded with the most amazing group of men and women that have served our nation with honor and dignity and we were never more proud of our military than this past weekend. Unfortunately, we had to say goodbye to our friends, but were anxious to get back to our Jack. So, click here to see more pics.
