Posted by Jennifer

Sometimes it's difficult taking selfies with your pets, but with one simple tool like the selfie stick, you can get various cool looking images. From cats on your lap, to puppies running around, these photos can be the most precious ones.

Check out some angles using the selfie stick with your phone below!

Getting these types of overhead shots are rare. The selfie stick allows more flexibility in which you can extend and quickly snap! At first, your pet may think it's a new toy as well, and it certainly gets their attention.

You could be standing in front of your dog and have the selfie stick upside down to get this angle. It's for those closeup shots you can treasure forever.

This is a great one where you hold the selfie stick farther out and be "in" the photo still. Usually from this angle, you would have to have someone else take the picture. It can be a nice canvas for your home as well!

How cool is this shot taken with an iPhone 5s on the selfie stick.
Posted by Jennifer

Roll your eyes...

and laugh.

That's what I used to do when I saw other people using a selfie stick. It looks ridiculous right? Not until you actually try it and experience it on your own, don't be so quick to knock it out just yet. Millions of people travel everyday, and I'm sure many of you have been asked to be a "photographer" at some point, and have also asked strangers and passers to take your photo, too.

With the vast popularity of selfie sticks, you don't have to worry about that anymore. It comes with great pros and you can travel freely without bothering anyone to take your photo. And being a photographer, sometimes you don't want to lug around your big camera and 5 extra lenses. If you prefer less baggage and versatility when capturing photos, all you need is a selfie stick, and your smart phone.

See how people have used the selfie stick while traveling.

Isn't this a cool group shot? Getting ready to sail off somewhere, and you're able to snap a quick one with the selfie stick. It would be much more complex trying to use your arms, and the photo wouldn't look as wide with a nice background. You can also attach the "fish-eye lense" gadget to get these type of shots.

Traveling SOLO allows you to express freely, and what better way to document it than on the beach, or anywhere for that matter. It's not about being narcissistic, but making this a moment you will remember. You get to enjoy it, and look back on where you've gone, and what you've seen. Not a lot of people get to do this.

Backpacking and strolling new city streets with some friends is an unforgettable experience, too. You can't ask a stranger to take photos for you all day long, so, take it into your own hands with the selfie stick. Plus, you can capture restaurant and food, or architectural buildings in many ways. Wherever there is a good scene, it's only a click away.

It's time to utilize this cool travel tool to make your experiences so much more special. Don't mind the uncanny looks or laughs from people-they don't know what they're missing!

If you would like to read more about The Memory Journalists selfie stick, check out our product details and buy now!

Destination Weddings 101: Top 5 Reasons to Choose a Destination Wedding

Posted by Mai

"Why not choose a destination wedding?" should be the question. Destination weddings are becoming so popular that planning one is almost a no-brainer. You get a picture-book wedding setting and a vacation to boot- and your guests will love it!

Below are the top five reasons that you should consider planning a get-away wedding.

1. You get to leave all your "cares" at home and leave the details to others.

Whether you choose an island wedding, European sojourn, "rough it in the wild" safari in Africa or a dream cruise on a luxury ship, you'll find staff ready and waiting to cater to your every want and need.

What better way to begin your new life than on a relaxed note? Your work or anything that might cause stress will be out of sight and out of mind with a destination wedding.

2. A destination wedding will give you more for your money.

You might think that traveling to an exotic location to get married would break the budget you painstakingly created for your wedding. Contrary to that belief, a destination wedding can actually be less of a strain on your pocketbook.

Packages are readily available that come with everything included- air fare, transportation needs, discounts for larger parties, etc. Consider that in many locations, everything you need (such as flowers and music) is localized to make your destination wedding simple.

3. You'll get to choose the background and activities that appeal to you, as a couple.

The picture-book setting of a Hawaiian beach is the perfect background for your destination wedding if you're dreaming of getting married barefoot on the beach with orchids in your hair. The photos will be stunning.

But if the beach isn't your bag, a European wedding in a castle can fulfill daydreams of Romeo and Juliett or King Arthur and his love, Gwenaviere.

4. You get to choose the weather for your special day!

It's true that most couples think of warm weather for saying their faraway vows with a destination wedding. But you might have other ideas, like snow and skiing. By doing a little research, you can make your dream weather come true.

5. Thinking of a theme? A destination wedding can be a change from the traditional wedding ritual.

Many couples are considering a theme wedding rather than the tired old rituals held in a church. An island destination wedding will go over much better in Jamaica or Hawaii than Portland, Maine.

Are you dreaming of a winter wonderland theme and you live in Florida? Switzerland or Norway can fill the bill in a way that will get you in the mood more than 90-degree weather could.

Honeymoon- His Choice, or Hers?

Posted by Mai

How do you agree on a honeymoon if you want different things? You want to snorkel and jet ski and he wants to camp out. Let's face it, today's bride isn't shy about making it all about her on the wedding day, but when it comes to the honeymoon, does your man have any input, or are you dictating whether you swim in the big blue ocean or hike to the top of Mount Everest?

A honeymoon is often the only vacation many couples take together because once kids are in the picture, it's difficult for some couples to find time for a romantic rendezvous. Or, if you're a couple always on the go, you may find it difficult to find a honeymoon destination that's unique and special.

Many couples find they're polar opposites when it comes to what they want out of their honeymoon vacation. Some guys want hiking and lots of sun and sports while their brides just want to relax and soak up the sun, or vice versa!

Believe it or not, there are ways to make sure both of you get what you want out of your honeymoon, but you have to be willing to compromise a bit. For instance, if the two of you go on a cruise, you will probably be docking at various ports. During the time you're docked, you and your new husband can participate in the activities offered by the locals, such as hiking tours or extreme sports. While the ship is at sea, he can agree to lounge by the pool with you or enjoy the fine dining that makes your honeymoon romantic.

Even if you're honeymooning in the snow-frosted mountains, it's possible for one of you to participate in the activities while the other relaxes. Or, take turns doing what the other person wants.

Marriage is all about compromise. The world is too big for any couple to disagree about where to honeymoon. Out of all of the exotic and affordable places on earth, you're bound to find at least one spot that offers something both of you want to experience. If you can't figure it out yourself, find a travel agent who isn't pushy and who will listen to each of your needs and then create the perfect honeymoon package that excites both of you.

3 Ways to Take a Killer Selfie

Posted by Jennifer

Say hello to the infamous selfie stick! You may see a lot of these around, but how do you take a killer selfie with it? Of course, the main purpose is to get all the right angles, and you can finally brush up on your selfie taking skills! Here are the 3 Ways to Take a Killer Selfie:

1. Wide Group Selfies - Hooray to no more cropped images of friends, family, or co-workers. When taking a family trip, business trip, or just a day trip with your friends, we tend to ask a complete stranger to take photos for us. You want to include everyone in your photo, and maybe a little background, too, but sometimes things get cropped out because of your reach. An easier solution: the selfie stick! It's so easy to just pop your phone on and off, and capture these treasured moments. So, for your next group photo, have the selfie stick ready!

2. 45 Degree Angle Selfies - Okay, maybe you never have taken this type of selfie before, but do have that one friend that does. She takes selfies from a 45 degree angle where she extends her arm out, and holds the camera phone 45 degrees above your face/head. Even a lot of models use this because it captures the perfect angle of their faces. Well, executing these shots have never been easier, and I don't know about you, but I have short arms, and the selfie stick allows me to extend as far as 7 1/4 inches up to 32 1/2 inches-fully extended. If the stick shows up in the photo at certain angles, you can easily crop, or photoshop it as well.

3. Overhead (Lay Down) Selfies - Most of us have done this at one point, and it quite never works unless you're doing a close-up shot. With the selfie stick, you can extend up, and quickly snap. They'll come out much more flawless than usual. Also, keep in mind to find the right angle when taking these, too. It's not just the selfie stick itself, but you controlling each shot!

If you would like to read more about The Memory Journalists selfie stick, check out our product details and buy now!

Do You Suffer from Wedding Ring Envy?

Posted by Mai

Not all couples have surprise engagements. In today's world, there are many women who prefer to dictate exactly what kind of engagement and wedding ring they want their beau to purchase for them.

What's worse is that many women are catty. Some women blatantly tell their husbands-to-be that the only requirement they have for their wedding ring is that it's bigger than so-and-so's ring.

Most brides aren't even concerned about the quality of the diamond- size matters most and they're hoping to blind the entire sea of guests with their sparkling wedding ring. Not every bride cares about size and cost. Some care more about sentimental value.

One bride was disappointed that her fianc had proposed without yet buying her a wedding ring. He assumed she'd want to pick it out herself, and he was saving the money to do it right. But she told him that she'd be happy with a Cheerio on her finger.

Then there are the women who demand that their wedding ring cost more than a car and be bigger than two carats. If not, they say, "don't even bother proposing." Which kind of woman are you?

Let's clarify something. No one is saying you should be pleased with a piece of cereal on your ring finger. But there's more to your wedding ring selection than size. Some brides don't want diamonds, but if you do, make sure the quality of the diamond is adequate.

Try on several options and ask about the possibility that you'll be allergic to the materials the wedding ring is made out of. It'd be a shame to wear your $10,000 Platinum band only to find it has a hint of nickel in it and it's giving you a rash!

Try not to think of your wedding ring purchase as an "I want to outdo her ring" situation. There will always be someone who has a bigger, more sparkly diamond than yours. A wedding ring is a sentimental and financial investment you're making for your future. If the wedding ring is passed down as an heirloom to your children and grandchildren, you want them to know you and your groom spent your money wisely.

Why Selfie Sticks are the Answer to Your Prayers

Posted by Jennifer

We are living in the selfie era, and no matter where you go, or what you do, a selfie is a must! Some of you may hate the whole idea of selfies in general, I know my hubby gets tired of me taking them! But as soon as I pulled out this cool little gadget, he took it over and played with it. Now we carry our selfie stick in the car for when we are out and about and want to take our photo together. It's a much more positive experience when I'm not chasing him down to get his photo.

This seems to be the case for any camera shy person. I have a mom friend who tells me that she can never get her kids to smile for photos, let alone sit still long enough to even be in the photo. I told her about our selfie stick and showed her how to use it. She took it home and again, much like my husband, her kids were enamored with this "new toy". She gets plenty of photos now!

It has become a common way of taking photos in Europe (they even have corner street vendors selling them) and it is picking up here in the States quite fast. Sometimes your arms just can't reach overhead to get a good group shot, and the selfie stick does the deed. Once the stick is out, your friends will be amazed with this cool device. I'm pretty sure they'll want one, too. I remember showing a few of my photographer friends, and they laughed at it of course, but once they pressed that button, they were hooked.

So, you see why selfie sticks are the answer to your prayers? They are addicting to even the most camera shy kids, men, and friends. Imagine baby crying beforehand, and look at how still he will hold for you when he sees the selfie stick. It's now just more than just taking a photo. It's taking a photo with a gadget in hand. No matter how ridiculous you look, everyone just basically laughs it off. Why not? It's a global phenomenon that has become molded with this generation. Young or old, anyone can learn how to use one.

If you would like to read more about The Memory Journalists selfie stick, check out our product details and buy now!

How to Save Memories of Your Kids

Posted by Jennifer

Selfie this, selfie that. The evolution of selfies have taken over for the past few years, and within a short time, the wave has grown larger with the infamous Selfie Stick.

From tween to teens, and young adults, the wave has slowly reached the older generation as well. Parents, and grandparents have learned how to utilize this device and they aren't completely shy about it either, especially when rocking the selfie stick with their kids. So, why not join in on the fun, and be the cool parent you were meant to be with a selfie stick!

Here's How To Save Memories of Your Kids:

1.Let the Kids Take Over: Kids enjoy these cool gadgets, and if you let them take control, they are more likely to take photos with you instead of running away. Well, they might run away at some point to take their own photos, too. I know some of my friends with teenagers that go wild for these things, but wouldn't that be a change of pace? It's nice to know they enjoy time with you, and you're not totally boring.

2.Road Trips: Having the selfie stick on board is a plus when documenting your road trips. Kids are totally into car selfies, and you can take several throughout your trip. They don't always have to be inside the car either. Once you've pulled over for a break, snap a quick one outside on the car! It's a great way in preserving your travels while tagging each other on social media.

3. The Outdoors: This one is really fun when you're out and about and find some really cool sights. Whether you're hiking, setting up a campfire, spotting an animal, or just relaxing at the beach, these make great selfie shots without disturbing the peace. See how easy it is - mother nature at its best!

4. Sports: The extendable selfie can get amazing shots when your kids are out in the field. It can be almost comparable to a professional shot if you use it the right way. It's probably best to use it on the sidelines or lower level seating so you're not blocking the crowd. And be sure your arena allows them inside the venue. It's exceptional for outdoor sports like track, in which you can capture these amazing angles and back shots when your kid is preparing to run!

5. Family Events: What better way to preserve memories than doing it yourself (DIY). Capture family group photos with the selfie stick in hand at family events. It's so much easier sending the photos to each other as well, and an easy way to make memories.

If you would like to read more about The Memory Journalists selfie stick, check out our product details and buy now!

Wedding Tools: Your Guide to Planning

Posted by Mai

Every couple wants a perfect wedding-it's a once in a lifetime dream come true. Before that happens though, the reality reminds us that preparation is usually the most stressful for not only the bride and the groom but also the entire family. That is why for every couple who plans to wed, there s one essential concept they should know-wedding tools.

Wedding tools is a mechanism that alleviates stress, an inevitable part of the planning. It may come in various ways depending on the kind of wedding one wants to have. This may include wedding checklist, gowns, groom's needs, invitation, photography, and honeymoon.

Fundamental for any planning is the checklist. A wedding checklist is like note taking of important details. It is very useful for organization and reminder.

The wedding checklist consists of specific items, date, time, and place. It ranges from all the needed materials like decorations, party rentals, food, events to be organized, music to be played, and so on. The checklist makes sure you will accomplish every little detail of the wedding. Apparently, this is not a once-seating feat. The list will surely lengthen as you go.

The next tool is the gown. This is the most fantasized about in the entire event. For most women, choosing their gowns is as much vital as the wedding itself.

Indeed, it is necessary for the gown to match the over-all tone of the wedding but this should not restrict the bride in fusing her own creativity and style. A heavy-beaded gown go with a formal cathedral wedding for example. On the other hand, a length-train gown does not fit a beach setting.

The needs of the groom are also part of the excitement. Aside from the suit he will be wearing are the roles and expectations he should take during the wedding planning. For some ceremonies, grooms write their speeches.
