Every January, the Software and Information Industry Association (SIIA) holds their Information Industry Summit in NYC. Can you believe a Bradford Mill company was voted "Most Likely to Succeed?"

Every year in January, the Software and Information Industry Association (SIIA) holds their Information Industry Summit in NYC (www.siia.net/iis/2011). The event gathers the world’s top publishing and media executives to discuss the latest industry trends and to preview cool new trend-related technologies. Getting selected to “preview” your product or service at the Summit is both highly competitive and a real industry honor.

This year, the Summit theme was “Moving from Wired to Wireless” and Bradford Mill tenant, RapidBuyr (www.rapidbuyr.com), was chosen as one of only eight preview companies to be highlighted at the event. RapidBuyr CEO and founder, Tom Aley, had a mere five minutes to pitch RapidBuyr to the audience and capture their attention. With some auctioneer-like fast talking, impressive presentation graphics and a killer demo, Tom was able to not only capture their attention, but also secure the SIIA Previews Most Likely to Succeed Award at the prestigious Codie Awards reception the first evening of the event. Congratulations to Tom and his team at RapidBuyr!

If you aren’t familiar with RapidBuyr (and that wouldn’t be surprising since it’s still in stealth mode), the company is busily working on a business-to-business daily deal site for small and mid-sized businesses. Very soon, RapidBuyr will be offering daily national and local deals at deep (40-70%) discounts on products and services that every company needs to successfully run their businesses. That includes deals on hardware, software, web development & design, IT outsourcing, marketing services, meeting space, event planning, staffing assistance, SaaS offerings and much more. To take advantage of RapidBuyr deals for your own company, register now atwww.rapidbuyr.com and watch for deals to start coming your way this spring.

The improvements are extensive and promise to make the Bradford Mill an even better place to work. This is Phase 1 in what will be a multi-year project, but the benefits are already being felt.

Interior Improvements. We are going to install new, high efficiency HVAC in 23 Bradford as the first step toward retiring the 1939 boiler that currently heats the entire property. A new stair core will be added to 33 Bradford.

The buildings are steadily being brought up to code on all fronts – electrical, plumbing, fire safety, accessibility… It’s a journey, and it’s a good one.

Having failed to find available space at a nearby artists’ cooperative, she came to the Bradford Mill hoping to find a home for herself and the many other artists who share a need for creative, affordable space and desire to work in the company of other artists. Suffice it to say she found one.

You are welcome to stop by on the evening of October 29th for a multi-media event on the theme “chairs.”

If you or a friend would like to join Artspace, you can contact Ann directly at annsmail4@gmail.com or 978.790.7776.

After six months of planning, our long-awaited beautification project is underway! Click through to see photos the progress.

After more than six months of planning, we finally “broke ground” on a massive program to update the Bradford Mill. Over the next several months, you can expect to see the following transformation:

Exterior Improvements. Ancient clapboard siding on 23 and 33 Bradford will be replaced with durable Hardie Plank siding. New, insulated low-E windows will be installed. The entry ways will be updated. The loading docks will be rebuilt. Asphalt on the main parking lot will be repaired.

Interior Improvements. We are going to install new, high efficiency HVAC in 23 Bradford as the first step toward retiring the 1939 boiler that currently heats the entire property. A new stair core will be added to 33 Bradford.

These is the first phase in a project that is likely to span several years and should have a dramatic effect on all the residents of the Bradford Mill.

We welcome your ideas and feedback.

We will soon have a fleet of 8 vanilla “beach cruiser” bicycles on site to encourage good health and green living! These retro bikes have low cross bars, foot brakes, and one gear to make them easy for everyone to ride.

Our hope is that when you need to make the trek into West Concord for coffee, lunch, or errands, you will opt to leave the car in the lot and take advantage of the bike sharing program. Each bike will have a large basket to help you transport your purchases and will be emblazoned with the Bradford Mill logo to discourage mischievous teenagers from taking them home.

Happy cycling!

A steady flow of new tenants continues to make its way to the Bradford Mill. Noah Kuhn moved in in June (n.b. not all tenants get such poetic intros).

Noah is the founder of PilotMade LLC, a web design and development studio. ”Pilotmade builds simple, clean, beautiful websites that engage users, build relationships, and support your business goals. As a small business, you will be working directly with the owner on your project. When the project size grows, we call on our network of co-pilots to lend a hand.” He has an impressive team and works with a variety of clients, many of whom are profiled on his website at www.pilotmade.com. You can see samples of work he has done for:

DrinkBoston — a blog devoted to how and where to drink well in the Boston area.

MIT — Sites for MIT’s public global activities portal, development office, Spectrum magazine, and others.

Boston College — a variety of sites for Boston College and BC Law School.

Pilotmade is located on the second floor of 43 Bradford Street and is looking to expand his firm in the near future. Need a site or just want to get acquainted? Drop in and say hello.
