Minecraft Birthday Cakes

2013-09-08T02:41:00.000-07:00

Here's the deal, you're reading this post because:

You want to make a Minecraft-themed cake for your block-obsessed partner/sibling/care worker
You just like looking at awesome cakes
You just want to feel loved

Notch looks like the kind of guy who could eat a cake for breakfast and still be hungry. We're sure he'd approve of our amazing collection of Minecraftian sweet treats.

This Creeper Cake is kind of basic, but it shows what can be done without too much effort (I'm sure it tastes delicious!)

Jack's Birthday Cake

Jack is a lucky boy. I think at age 8 I may well have had to sit down for a moment after receiving this.

Big Fat Creeper Cake

I'm not sure what's scarier here: the huge-ass creeper or the huge-ass recipient who's about to devour it. This is what too much Minecraft does to you, kids.

Enormous Minecraft Cake

This is simply brilliant, though I'll be honest I'm not sure what it is other than a huge cylinder of blocks.

TNT Block Cake

Eat me before I explode!

Giant Minecraft Cake Inner

Wow, I mean who actually styles the inside of the cake in Mincraft blocks too? Fantastic

Mincraft Wedding Cake

When nerds collide, little blocks are made. Look, we love Minecraft cakes but I'm not sure I want one at my wedding day. Oh damnit I already had mine. Maybe if I keep playing I'll get another!

Minecraft Cake Fail

Words fail us here. No they don't, this cake sucks and you should feel bad.

The Peace Palace

Whilst we love our fantasy Minecraft builds as much as the next 'Crafter, we do have a fond appreciation for real-life copies or inspiration. This palace is a copy of The Peace Palace or "Vredespaleis" if you can speak Dutch.

Westeroscraft is the ultimate Mincraft build [Game of Thrones]

2013-08-14T13:12:00.002-07:00

This build is so god damned amazing that it was featured in TIME magazine. If you don't know Game of Thrones then perhaps some of the ornate artistry and painstaking intricacy may be lost on you, though we think you'd have to be Hodor not to appreciate this stonker.

Minecraft Battle Ship: The Bismarck

2012-11-03T08:30:00.000-07:00

Holy crap, this is an epic build. It's a 1:1 replica of the famous battleship Bismarck. Click the image for a larger copy.

User "Drazla" posted this over on reddit

The reason it looks so great is obviously the great build but also:

The mod is Sonic Ethers GLSL shadows and the texture pack is the Mithrintia build server texture pack. You can find links to both on my Planetminecraft page for this build

Minecraft Power Station

2012-10-06T11:10:00.000-07:00

Reactor Outside

This is a TNT fueled power station

Power Station Front

It is located next to a small town

Reactor inside

The key is to convert a TNT explosion into stable redstone current

Control Panel

All the functions of the Reactor are controlled from here

Fuel Store

A cobblestone generator is used to push the TNT through a series of pistons then into the reactor

Power Generator

The exploding TNT pushes the cart enough to start it rolling down the incline, when it hits the detector rail current is generated and the cart is returned to the top for the next explosion.

Reactor Shield on

Water shielding protects the building structure from the explosions.

Reaction in progress

Fuel injector

Fuel is delivered by the pistons to the top of the reactor, when it hits the redstone current it falls in

Power Transformer

The power is generated in pulses, by feeding it through these repeaters i can get a steady output

The Final Result

Of course I could have just used a redstone torch and got the same result - but that is not as fun.

Enormous Colourful Minecraft Castle

This fortress is pretty bog-standard, but a good idea how to connect rooms. I would perhaps change some of the textures to make it less samey, but it's an impressive build all the same!

Moat Cailin (Song of Ice and Fire, Game of Thrones)

2012-06-23T01:33:00.003-07:00

Fantasy books often provide the best inspiration for Minecraft builds, often containing fantastic castles, moats and vistas. The George R R Martin series of books - A Song of Fire and Ice - are no exception to this, and below we have the towers the men of the North occupy - Moat Cailin.

Who knew Minecraft could look this good?

Can you imagine Robb Stark prancing around here?
