Well, I guess I had better go outside and try to breathe. My lovely daughter has just busted 2 full jars of nailpolish all the way down my hall and I am flying quite high from the fumes of the acetone. I am trying to stay calm and cool, but the truth is I am livid. So, hence the very short post. Not really in the mood to be all "chatty" right now.

We'll see if we survive til mornings light!! uGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHhhh snap!

Yesterday was spent in a whirl of activity. I finished two paintings that were on a deadline for photo scans, business plans, filling out forms, emails back and forth. A little time spent on learning about more Google advertising, changing keywords and such. Now I need to rush into the studio and get 3 more finished so I can have good scans made to get the discount.

I've got my business plan in place and will soon be revamping my products and availability. Trying to move more into a main stream approach with my work, have more prints and giclees on canvas available so I can not work quite so hard. I've been lagging a bit!

OK, well off to snag a granola bar and a diet coke and into the studio. I'm trying to be better about my blog--updating takes time.

Dreams.. what is yours? It took me years to understand the why I was so restless inside, and felt like I never fit in with others. I was an artist, but had buried that dream under wanting the approval of others. It was in my early 30's that I realized I needed to go back to my childhood and find my dream. I remembered hours spent with notebook and paper, creating my own world of imagination and mystery. Recovering that sense of childhood as an adult was hard. I worked through an incredible amount of "baggage" to finally with God's help find healing and wholeness to pursue my dream. It takes much courage to follow your dream! Naysayers and dream killers abound-nurturers are few and far between! But it has been worth it. I guess the biggest joy of my being an artist is being able to bring a smile to someone, or convey joy that touches a life, lightens a burden and brings peace.

I found a great article on finding out your dreams, and how to follow them online this morning. I thought I would share it with you- Here it is: DREAMS

By now you have probably realized that I am a really big dreamer! That's good though, because until you can dream it you can't achieve it!

Police Brutality in New Orleans

I can't believe what's happening my Crescent City. Watching the news report of the brutality of Mr. Davis was not cool at all. My hubby is in law enforcement, and what the officers did was totally uncalled for. They should be prosecuted. Seems like the city is coming apart at the seams. I want to go back so I can finish up some photography work, but don't think that will happen anytime soon. Seems like just when I think my heart is beginning to heal, something else happens. I wish we could all learn from this--instead of repeating the vicious cycle. It's so disheartening to see no regard for human life. All we have is each other..

Quick update.. sorry for the absence

Well, I've been absent lately. I just took a time to refocus, and try to clear my head. I have to do that from time to time. Too much stimuli gets to me after awhile. I've kind of been rethinking my priorities, my focus, and deciding what I should do from here. I love my art, it's so soothing to me. I feel at a crossroads of sorts and need to make some concrete career plans soon. For a long while I've had so many irons in the fire.. I never know which one to grab. I really tend to want to focus on my abstraction, but need to put in a large deal of work to make those plans begin to manifest. My New Orleans art is booming, and I do enjoy it. I feel torn between the two, but feel to put my best effort into my work I should maybe make a definite decision.. so I am contemplating the vastness of the universe and the part I play in the grand scheme of life, and wether or not my art is a part of that plan..hmmm. so much to contemplate. I hate it when I want to think deep.. I am so deep at times it makes my head hurt..

I've got so much to do, I feel overwhelmed-- and tomorrow I have to go work my "other" job as a court interpreter. Oh, I am biligual.. I speak fluent spanish..

Gorgeous Day, Granola Recipe

It's beautiful here today, the weather is low 70's, and all the fall flowers are blooming (and the goldenrod, but we'll try to ignore that) The leaves are just beginning to slowly flutter to the ground, and the seasons are changing. I've been aching to get out with my camera and fiddle around but just haven't made it yet.

I got the urge to make another batch of my world famous granola this morning. It's a great snack, and has healthy qualities--I can justify snacking on it in the studio while I paint. If you've never made your own, try it! It's not hard and so much better than that junk from the grocery store. I'll share my original recipe, but for it to be good there is one secret: Deviate from the recipe! Throw in whatever sounds good at the time, dried fruit, raisins, or if you feel sinful a bag of M&M's!

Angel's Homemade Peanut Butter Granola

3 cups whole oats

1 1/2 cups flake coconut

1 1/4 cups cashews ( I used the salted kind)

1 1/4 cups almonds ( slivered)

1 t. vanilla

1 T. vegetable oil

3/4 c. honey (or real maple syrup)

3/4 c. Simply Jif peanut butter (this has no preservatives, natural)

2 T. brown sugar , or sugar in the raw

1/2 t. ground cinnamon

1/2 t.salt

1/2 bag semi sweet chocolate chips or carob chips

Mix up the oats, nuts and coconut in a big bowl. Then in a boiler add the remaining ingredients, except for chocolate chips. (you add those in last once the granola has cooled) Just melt it all together stirring occasionally. The idea is for the peanut butter to melt, and the ingredients to be well blended. Don't boil. Once it is liquified, pour into the bowl of oats and blend well. Separate the mixture into 2-13x 9 metal baking pans. Bake at 300 F for 60-90 mins. You have to stir the granola every 15-20 mins so it will get toasted. BE sure it's crunchy before you stop baking it,or it will get soggy.Once it is toasted golden, take it out and cool. Add in the chocolate chips, store in airproof container or bag. This is a great cereal, sprinkled in yogurt or eaten by the handful! ( My choice of preference)

It's really healthy too! Lots of fiber and natural ingredients. If you are allergic to nuts..this is not the granola for you!

Boston Terriers and Yorkie Terrorist

I got a sweet picture of the boys finally. They have just about made me insane this week . Peanut (Yorkie) has decided he will bark non-stop at any noise or sign of life, whether it comes from the tv, dishwasher, radio, or outside. He is a non-stop yapper and is causing a few problems, such as when the phone rings. I don't know what to do with him. He is so cute, you can't help but love him! I guess he feels like it's his job to take care of all of us, but it makes getting anything done a bit complicated.

Well, it's Amazing Race Night, so I need to go get supper (Southern for dinner) done so we can spend some family time.

It's been a really hectic day today, working on print orders and such. UPS sent back my first order of prints, showing I signed off to refuse them because they were damaged. UGH>> the brown truck never came here!! Sometimes I just want to punch somebody. Fedex is so much better in my opinion. Now my clients will have to wait a bit longer. If you recently ordered a print, I apologize. I promise to ship them just as soon as I get them in my hands.

It's too late to take a photo but I finished this great impressionistic still life painting tonight. I'll put up photos in the morning and see if someone would like to purchase it. I'll be trying a little experiment and see if anyone is interested in the ability to purchase art directly from my blogs. Christmas is coming.. and art makes a wonderful present for someone you love. I love to personalize a work's title. That is a neat touch. So, I am working on some very impressionistic/french looking stills for a while. I just needed to do something different to keep my work interesting. Photos coming in the morning, I promise.. Till then sweet dreams!

This week the local "fair" is in town. Thats our annual carnival with all the rides and such. It's a time honored tradition that you Have to go to the fair if it's in town. Tonight was the perfect night, as the 90 degree weather suddenly dropped into the low 60's today. Beautiful for carnival time! We did the $13.00 wristbands and rode from 6 pm til it closed down at 11 pm. My girls had so much fun. I must admit I am an adrenaline junky myself. I can still hang with the best of them! Then of course you get hungry and have to eat all that good food, corndogs, elephant ears.. (surely you know what that is, right? ) cotton candy, the works!

Anyway, my head is spinning and I'm tired. But I did get quite a bit of commission work done, as well as alot of blogging on my blogspot site. I've got to get that all figured out as I have big plans for all of that. My advertising my New Orleans Art Website on Google has really paid off. So far in less than 3 weeks and under $40.00 I've sold half a dozen paintings or so. So I want to get my abstracts running as well, plus expand what I've got on my New Orleans stuff.

I shouldn't have been out tonight though, as I am still not feeling the best. I really feel it now. Oh, and tomorrow I've got to go get my hair done..gonna try life as a redhead for awhile. If it looks really good maybe I'll take a picture.

Artist is Back? Rita!

Well it was an eventful weekend with Rita blowing in . It seemed like we would be ok with the storm blowing past us. We did get alot of high winds and a good bit of rain. Fortunately we have been having a real dry spell up here in northern La. So the rain was ok, not too much of a problem. Saturday around 11 am we lost power and it stayed off for a while. Put me out of touch with out the net to answer clients emails, but not too much of a problem. Since the weather wasn't that bad we thought it would be back on quickly. We were wrong! We got power back on Sunday around 4pm. So we slept with the windows open, and it was cool! That is something to be thankful for! But it did make it a little uncomfortable without lights, no major problem. The only really bad detail was we lost all our food in the fridge/freezers. That was a pain to clean up. I can't imagine what those major restaurant freezers in New Orleans must be like..GRoss!

But we now have all our utilities up and running. I've been busy with family life and work. I'll update more tomorrow.

I can't believe we are on the verge of another hurricane, now headed towards the Texas coast. I am praying that this storm will lose it's power out in the gulf. Unbelievable that it could be one of the worst we've seen yet. That is scary. Our nation has been through so much. I have friends headed here today to stay for a night or two since you can't find a room anywhere hardly from the here to Mississippi.

My heart goes out especially to those who were evacuated to Houston from New Orleans already. It's going to make finding lost family members that much harder.

I want some happy news today! Atleast JetBlue landed safely yesterday--a triumph for humanity in a sea of dispare.

Ok.. time to go run errands for my mom and get ready for company.
