I purchased AutoStitch from the iPhone app store today for $1.99. AutoStitch makes panoramic images from your iPhone. It’s surprisingly easy. I tested it out by making panoramas of my work and home office (no photoshopping, I promise).

If you have ever built a website, you know as well as I do how nervous you get when it’s time to test your new little baby in Internet Explorer. Luckily there is help: IE Tester.

Even though there have been major improvements ever since IE8 came out, you still have IE6 and IE7 to deal with. Until IE6 goes away, which Microsoft plans on supporting until 2014, there is a great tool called IE Tester that helps the hurt.

IE Tester is a single program that lets you test your website in multiple versions of IE. All you have to do is open a tab for the version you want to test and load your page. That’s it. Of course, it doesn’t fix all the bugs for you, but it’s certainly handy to have a tool that reveals all the faults in one spot.

While this tool is only built for Windows, you should be able to run this on your Mac using either BootCamp or Parallels. Use the link below to visit the download page for IE Tester.

I’m a little skeptical of 80’s shows becoming modern-day . True, Transformers have done relatively well (I’ve yet to see Transformers 2), but remember G.I. Joe? I will be the first to admit that I got really excited after they released the Snake eyes picture. Until I see the full trailer of the up-coming A-Team movie, I’ll remain skeptical.

In every industry, there are a few tools that a professional cannot live without. In , those tools are FireFox, Coda, and .

FireFox

Sure there are a lot of great browsers out there, like Safari and Chrome, but they cannot compete with FireFox’s add-on library. For Web Designer’s, you MUST check out ColorZilla, FireBug, FireFTP, Web Developer and the MeasureIt add-ons (thanks to Fábio ZC for the MeasureIt suggestion).

All those add-ons are amazing, but I want to call special attention to ColorZilla. ColorZilla provides a color picker that you can use to sample any color on your browser window. Additionally, you can customize the settings so that you can copy the HEX code of the color you’re sampling and paste it right into the color picker. Before I used this tool, I was taking screenshots of my browser window and opening the image in to sample the color. Major time saver.

Coda

Among all the HTML/CSS editors I’ve used (both Mac and PC), Coda is by far THE best. It truly is “one window web development”. It has a built-in FTP feature, and even has an easy-to-use resource library. I also like the fact that I can store common snippets of code so that I don’t have to keep retyping stuff over and over. Oh, and did I mention it’s only $99!

NOTE: this is a mac only program. Sorry PC’s.

Photoshop

What would the web be like without ?!? It’s scary to even think it. is the only place you need to go when creating your next design for a website. In fact, has become such a major design tool (in any design industry) that I don’t even know why they still have the word “photo” in the name. I mean, with all that this program can do, they should change the name to something that encompasses all it’s abilities, like “FreakingAwesomeShop”. I know. Doesn’t have the same ring to it.

On Saturday, September 26th, I’ll be speaking at Wordcamp Seattle during the “Ignite Sessions”. Ignite sessions are structured so that each speaker has 5 minutes to speak. The trick is that I only get 20 slides and they auto-rotate every 15 seconds. Should be interesting. Above are the slides that I prepared.
