My Nearly 19-Year-Old Dog is Still With Me, Thanks to Chiropractor Russ Harward

A couple years ago, my old dog Chenoa had a herniated disc, and the vet suggested we consider putting her down. In desperation, I called my bicycling buddy (we're done many thousands of miles together), a sports medicine chiropractor named Russ Harward. I asked him if he had any experience with animals, and he said he absolutely did.

Just one session with Russ and my sweet little girl walked perfectly. She's now almost 19 and doing well. Admittedly, I've anthromorphized her, making Chenoa the star of my sci-fi novel The Last Will & Testament of Harley and His Dog. I also gave her the title role in my Silver Award-winning short story, The Destroying Angel's Dog.

I'm glad she's still with me.

I'm wondering how much these scams pull in. Since I've never in my long life even seen a porn site, I figured I'd share this crook's Litecoin wallet address:

I used a crypto currency explorer to check the balance in this account, but the guy set it up just for this scam. Pretty smart. I'd send this to the FBI, but those folks are after bigger fish than this yokel.

February 2, 2025, I figured I'd celebrate my Mom's 100th Birthday (she made it to 97) by announcing the release of my audiobook novel Daddy's Little Felons, It's available on Google Play at Click Here.

Article 1, Section 8, Paragraph 11 spells out how a vastly under equipped army can use licensed and bonded privateers to win any war, including a cyberwar. Yes, the body count will be high, but the rewards will lure the best and brightest to go for that gold ring.

In the Revolutionary War, the Continental Navy had a mere 64 ships, compared to 1,697 privateer ships. The navy had 1,242 guns while the privateers had 14,872 guns. The Continental Navy captured only 196 ships while the privateers captured 2,283 ships. The risk, however, cannot go unreported. While it's unclear how many navy ships were captured by the enemy, 1,323 privateer ships (that's 78%) were captured by the enemy.

I'm thinking that with a president named Donald J. Trump, a secretary of defense named Pete Hegseth, a secretary of state named Marco Rubio, and a high-tech crazy named Elon Musk, we might just have a team to take this bull by the horns.

Sorry, I just couldn't resist. I've published my third novel, which IMHO is the most unusal sci-fi novel ever written. My first home computer, circa 1976

I got my first home computer in 1976. The PDP-11/34 looked like three refrigerators stacked side by side, and had two washing-machine-size hard drives that each at 5MB of memory. It required special air conditioning in my den. It had 16 phone lines coming into a RSTS system I used to run for congress. It sported a magnetic tape drive on which I loaded voter registration lists for my district, and a dot-matrix printer on which I produced mailing labels for postcards. I think it was quite advanced for its time.

Here's Frank Herbert in my computer room signing his novel The Dosadi Experiment for my young son, Matthew (Matthew is now a senior data scientist for Sony). Frank talked me into running for congress in 1978. Hey, Frank got me 47% of the vote, which wasn't quite enough. So I started my career in guerrilla warfare advertising.

Frank said I reminded him of his fictional character Jorj X. McKie in his short story, The Tactful Saboteur. Well, someday I'll be…uh…tactful.

About 45 years ago, after I'd lost the race for congress in Washington State and started my career in guerrilla warfare for Data General in Massachusetts, Frank Herbert, inventor of EARTH DAY and author of Dune (who had talked me into running for congress in the first place, because I reminded him of his short-story character The Tactful Saboteur), flew out to Massachusetts to see me and my wife Rita. I fondly remember Frank every Earth Day.

Today's UK Register story on Microsoft losing access to its own source sode (read the story here) is absolute proof that today's Internet needs all new hardware. Which means there are vast segments of the economy ripe for a new class of entrepreneurial billionaires.

Seriously, if Microsoft can't protect their crown jewels, what chance in Hell is there for the rest of the world?

So a prophecy right out of The Book of Revelation seems appropriate. The great "beast" that controls all commerce in the world will die but be resurrected with improvements.

Brilliant Move: Reprise the Berlin Airlift for Aid to Gaza!

Today's WSJ story is a real ray of hope for the innocents in Gaza (READ IT HERE). The US is about to airlift supplies to deliver humanitarian aid to the besieged people of Gaza. Logistical problems? Yes. The world doesn't want the US to be the good guys, here. And politics and sabotage from the Islamic world will get in the way. So let's see if good will prevail.

I got to meet the Berlin Airlift "Candy Bomber" Colonel Gail Halverson before he died. And I see his son when I work in the LDS Temple on Thursday mornings. Godspeed to this operation.
