So it turns out that my favorite person on earth, Courtney Love, is auctioning off Kurt Cobain's Cardigans for... $40 million!

"I'm going to have an auction," said Courtney Love, describing her house was like a mausoleum after hubby Kurt Cobain killed himself. "My daughter doesn't need to inherit a giant bag full of flannel shirts," she said. After gifting her daughter a sweater, a guitar and the lyrics to "Smells Like Teen Spirit," Love put the rest of Cobain's cardigans and keepsakes on the auction block for an estimated $40 million. In a previous auction, Cobain's Mark lV-style Mosrite Gospel guitar was auctioned in 1994 for $75,000, with the original case bears the words "NIRVANA" and "Fuck Elvis!" in white paint.

Meat without Murder

Would you eat a hamburger if it were made without killing a cow? Can you imagine a world where cruelty-free applies not just to shoes and shampoos but also to sausages and chicken nuggets?

Jason Matheny can. He’s not only a vegetarian, he’s a doctoral student and scientist at the University of Maryland in College Park, and he’s committed to changing the way meat gets to the dinner table. Last July, he and an international team of researchers announced a new method for “making” meat. Instead of slaughtering farm animals, they’re growing meat in the laboratory. “In theory, technology could produce the world’s entire supply of meat without ever killing a single animal,” says Matheny.

The technique involves a relatively painless process of removing muscle cells from a live animal through a thin needle, then letting the cells grow and divide in a sort of giant petri dish—a vat kept at the same temperature as the animal’s body and filled with glucose, amino acids and minerals. This nutritional soup is then poured onto large plastic sheets that are continually stretched to “exercise” the cells and keep them growing. After a few weeks, a millimeter-thick sheet of meat can be peeled off, rolled up and minced into hamburger.

“There are all sorts of ethical and health advantages to this technology,” Matheny says. “First, no animals have to be killed. In theory, we could collect cells from one of every type of animal now raised for food, rather than slaughtering 40 billion creatures each year.” Reducing the number of factory farm animals would also mean a tremendous reduction in land and water pollution caused by animal waste. According to the Department of Agriculture, food animals currently produce 1.6 billion tons of manure each year.

Vat-grown meat would also be safer and more healthful than today’s meat, Matheny says. “There are so many health problems associated with farmed meat. In addition to worrying about antibiotics, steroids and contamination, meat has a very high saturated fat content. But with tissue culture, we can reduce that or even replace it with a healthier fat,” he says. And people wouldn’t have to worry about mad cow disease or avian flu.

With all the technology we have today, I wouldn't be surprised if this actually worked. It would be a great thing to have. I really doubt that any vegan or vegetarian would start eating meat again. I know I wouldn't.

Most Tattoos In 24 Hours Beaten Once Again

You might remember my post when Oliver Peck beat Kat Von D's record for most tattoos in 24 hours, well guess what? The record has been re-broken. This time by John "Joker" McManus. He started at noon on Friday and ended Saturday at the same time at his Joker Tattoo Shop in West Monroe. He successfully completed 775 2-inch-by-2-inch stars and also claimed the most tattoos in an eight-hour period with 331.

Green Bay Came Just Short

I've been telling everyone how good I felt about today's game vs the Titans. I was so sure the Pack would hand them their first lose, and damn were they close. The game ended in overtime with a final score was 19-16 for Tennessee.
The game started with a field goal by Bironas to give the Titans and early 3-0 lead. Bironas got a second field goal in the second quarter to give them a 6-0 lead which was cut to half three minutes later when Crosby finally put the Packers on the score board. The first touchdown of the game came at 04:28 when Rodgers threw a 5 yard pass to Driver. At that point, 10-6 for Green Bay, I was confident as hell. A minute later Collins gave the ball to Johnson for a 3 yard run into the end zone to give the Titans a 13-10 lead into half time. Even though being down by 3 I had confidence in the Pack to come back and win the game. In the second half the Packers got 2 FG's and the Titans got 1 to tie the game up at 16 which brought the game to overtime. The Titans won the coin toss and on that first drive Bironas got the 41 yard field goal to give Tennessee the win and their 8th straight win.

Driver had his first 100+ yard game of the season. He had a good game, but he dropped a couple of critical balls which could have changed the games final score. Ah well, lets see if the Pack can redeem themselves vs the Vikings next week in Minnesota.

I haven't written something in here for the longest time, ugh. I've been really busy with things. My friend and I have started a music blog, BRKNEars, so I'm spending most of my computer time on that. School is as bad as it's always gonna be. It's mid-term right now, so we have all kinds of exams. Yay.

As I was on the computer earlier today, my mom starts laughing and tells me it's snowing out side. The first thing that came out of my mouth was, "NOOOOOOOO!" The weather has been hell. Yesterday while I was walking home from school I was telling myself what I was gonna do once we hit -10°C... I was freezing lol. I want summer back, now!

My Packers have been doing pretty good. They won their last two games vs the Seahawks and Colts, which was a big surprise to me. They're on Bye this week which is good. It will give more time for Rodgers' arm to recover. We're still missing a few players which sucks. Lets hope they get back as soon as possible.

Between The Buried & Me's Colors_Live came out on Tuesday. After buzzing it out for a few days I finally wrote a review on it. One of the best albums I've ever heard and now it's live... I just came.

Photoshop CS4 came out on Adobe.com and from what I saw it looks pretty clean. Nothing wrong with CS3, but who likes using old shit anyways, huh? Who's got $10, 000 to give me so I can buy it?

Stéphane Dion, the Liberal Party leader, decided to call it quits on Monday after losing the election to Stephan Harper. We want Jean Chrétien back.

I'm still in love with Vanessa Hudgens.

Ah well, that's all there is to know about what's new and interesting in my life. Now I'm gonna go back to listening to Colors_Live. Ciao.

Travis Barker Eats Meat Again...

So Travis was told by the doctors that if he ate meat his scars would heal faster since it contains more protein. Travis was a strict vegetarian for 25 years. I just hope he goes back to vegetarianism as soon as he's okay.

Travis Barker is eating meat for the first time in 25 years to recover from his plane crash injuries.

The former Blink 182 drummer – who has been a strict vegetarian for most of his life - was advised to change his diet after suffering third degree burns to his legs and torso when the jet he was travelling in crashed on take off in Columbia, South Carolina, last month.

He said: 'I need protein from food rather than just protein supplements. I changed my diet. I would do anything I possibly could if they said like, 'There's a possibility you might heal faster if you do eat meat or just change your eating habits.' So I did. I don't regret it at all, I feel so much better.'

The 32-year-old star – who has two children, Landon, five and two-year-old Alabama, with ex-wife Shanna Moakler – has been receiving treatment for his burns at a specialist centre in Los Angeles.

Travis also revealed he hopes to leave the facility soon because he is 'going nuts' not being able to cuddle his children.

He added to Us Weekly magazine: 'I'm so anxious to get out of here. I've just been in surgery after surgery. I have third degree burns basically from my feet up to my waist and both hands. One of my hands was second degree burns and one was third degree burns. I'm trying to have a quick recovery and play the drums again and be able to hold my kids again.

'I'm going nuts not being able to see them and spend time with them!'

New Blog Layout

As some of you know I've been looking for a new layout for quite some time. I found a few that were alright but missed a few things I really looked for in layout. Well I think I found one and it's the one you're currently seeing.

I seem to like this one so far, but there seems to be something missing and I can't put my finger on it just yet. I still changed it because it was time for one. I've been using the previous one since June 6, 2007.

With time I will be changing and adding things to this template. If with time it still doesn't feel right, I might just switch back lol. One of the main things I want to change about the blog is the loading time. Since I post a lot of videos the loading time is not all that great. I'm currently looking for something, most likely in JavaScript, like a show/hide button. What that means is in order to view the video you'll have to click on that show/hide button.

What do you guys think about it? Yay or nay?

Hi diddily ho neighborenos, this week on VOTW I’m gonna be trying something new. Anytime middle east gets brought up in a conversation people react quick and start to make negative comments about it. Yes there has been much controversy especially in the last decade regarding a certain group of people in that section of the world, but personally I don’t think every single one of them are bad. Heck, one of my good friends is from Iran :). Here is a video I found that might ease the tention on this hate people seem to have against them. In my opinion, this was a really funny video. It had me lmao-ing, rofl-ing and every other possible lo-ling in the book.
