I just recently read a post on Moon Chase that Hottopic.com are carrying a Sailor Moon girls’ t-shirt! Yes, when I stated “a”, I mean only one, but it’s a start! Hopefully we’ll see newer (and better translated) Sailor Moon manga's coming our way! I still have my old ones…never collected them all, but I have most of them even when they changed their named from Smile (I think or it might of been another name. Not sure), Mixx, and Tokyopop.

In other news…Seth Green and his wife came out with a mock of Katy Perry’s California Gurls; Geek and Gamer Girls. It’s cute…the beat still annoys me though. Damn you Perry!

I just crossed this topic on her blog, and some major things are going to change (thank goodness); sunscreen wise. It's a good read if you're a skin care fanatic like me. Finally, by next year, there will be no more spf 70 or 100. If sunscreen really covered 100% of our skin, we would know by now, right (if only)?

Am I back in action? Hopefully. Working two jobs is very tiresome, but nothing will stop me to post this…amazingness.

Ssshhhh. Do you hear the (Vargas maybe?) angels singing?! It’s only $34! Seriously, that’s a good deal. Normally, these kind of purses run up $60 to $200 which on my budget, that’s a wee bit too much (unless you’re lucky to find one in a thrift store). I adore these kind of purses (you normally don’t see this style a lot)…especially this one since it almost goes with my whole wardrobe! Hells yeah.

Aaahhh, I love you SourPuss (I swear, I’m not being paid to say this. Just amazed.).

When I officially graduate for my Esthetician license. Thank God. The only job update that I'm just recently about to work is for a photography studio that works on senior photos. Sounds lame, but it's very beautiful and luxe...for rich kids. I did a try out photo shoot, and it was really fun! The girls were really sweet and I get paid $12 an hour! Woot. As for an actual skin care specialist, none yet. The job market here in Florida kind of sucks. I actually just had a job interview for a position today, and the first thing the receptionist told me when I walked in the door was, "Oh, we already found someone...but we can take your application anyway; just incase." Oh, thanks. Wasted a 30 minute drive for nothing! Oh well.

Yep, that's all for now. Working all day in retail, and finishing my internship all week nights. Oh, the fun I'm having.

Totally going to nerd out in this post.

It’s so weird reading that Tokyopop is…well, gone. It’s where I discovered Sailor Moon, Magic Knight Rayearth, and all the other cool anime. Honestly, I’m not into the anime that’s out now, but I love, and still do, the ones I grew up with; especially Sailor Moon. I have most, not all, of the Sailor Moon mangas they’ve released, and I know they changed their name three times (Mixx and something else. Not sure)? I guess they couldn’t make up their mind what they wanted to be.

Too bad. Hopefully a company will bring back all the Sailor Moon mangas and anime with better translation (hello, Sailor Stars?). Hey, Tokyopop didn’t do a good job, but that’s how we discovered it!

If someone would bring Sailor Moon back out all over again, (remember S & Super S? I know I wasn’t the only one excited), I think it would be popular again…for sure.

I’ve been testing these two for the past few weeks. I had Too Faced version for quite some time, but when I saw theBalm released their primer at Sephora, I had to give it a shot, but then I realized something…I’ll explain it at the end of this post.

First I’m going to explain the product(s) individually; The Good & The Bad, then choose the winner.

The Good

The Too Faced primer does not claim that it is a tinted primer on Sephora’s website, but it does look like since it obviously has a, well, tint of color, but either way, for my porcelain skin, it blends in smoothly. I was worried when I first purchased this item since it has a slight color, but I didn’t notice any difference once I applied this goop on my face.

I used this primer with all the foundations I own which is liquid, cream, and mineral. Of course, it did make it easier to apply all of my different foundations; especially creams which can be a pain in the arse to blend.

The Bad

I don’t believe that it will brighten your skin, but then again, I’m very pale, so brighteners probably wont work since I’m so flippin’ white (Oh yeah, I totally used that word).

I don’t really get blemishes as much; only when I’m stressed or mother nature comes along, then I get a couple blemishes…oh the joy. My point is I don’t see how it helps with my blemishes. It doesn’t help discolor the redness or make my blemish(es) shrink. This primer helps a tiny bit to cover my black heads on my nose, but that’s about it.

theBalm’s Time Balm

The Good

theBalm’s primer is very similar to Smashbox’s Oil-Free version. It’s a nice primer without the crazy claims like Too Faced (I’ll get to that in a moment). This product works just as well as Too Faced, but just without the tint.

The Bad

It’s a similar situation for the Too Faced’s Shadow Insurance; it kind of leaks out first, then the actual product comes out which can be annoying, but nothing big.

The Verdict

My point was to this post not only to pick which of these two I like the best, but to also point out that they’re pretty much all the same.

I bolded the ingredients that were the same in both products, and you might say, “Well, theBalm must of copied Too Faced since theBalm’s version came out later!” Well, that might be true, but I looked up majority of the primers on Sephora’s website to see if the ingredients were same or different; they’re all mostly the same. The only difference is the essential oils, keratin, glycolic, etc to give it a claim of some sort.

I honestly don’t believe in the claims (The only claim I do believe if one is more hydrating than the other; for clients that do have really dry skin which I think Stila has a primer for that). I mean think about it; primer just sits atop on your skin unlike moisturizers or serums that absorb into your epidermis (and hopefully to the dermis layer) to get the results you desire. Primer just does what it suppose to do which is, duh, prime the skin for make up. Which is fine, I’m not complaining about that or I wouldn’t be buying them! I buy them since it is easier to put on my foundation (like creams!) and it does last a tiny bit longer than foundation alone.

So, if I had to pick only one that I would have to use for the rest of my life, it would be…

Too Faced. The reason being is that it doesn’t make my face feel greasey like theBalm’s does; I don’t have to apply a matte powder unless I wanted to. They both work excellent to keep my foundation on longer though.

I have two reviews still in the making. I know I haven't been making reviews like usual for the past year. Seems to be less and less each month. A lot of things has happen this past year, and I will be back in action! The reason why I haven't been updating more so is because I just received a second job as a makeup artist! It's for basic to rich-kid senior photos. Maybe it's the way I grew up, but I've never seen a place that makes semi-luxe photo shoot for teens. This place has packages where you can go on the beach to get your photos taken, have professional photo shoots at their studio, etc. It's actually really cool and the young women there are very sweet, so I'm pretty excited about this job; plus I get paid $12 an hour (part time, but still!). I have never made more than $7.25 an hour.

I'm also about to finish my aesthetics internship which is about 6 weeks (May 27th, I believe?). My goal is to become an actual skin care specialist at a spa where I can pick my own products (Tu'eL & doTERRA!), but that's about every aesthetician dream! One day, some day...

To put it in a nutshell, I've been working my ass off, and it's slowly getting better and better each day.Once I finish my internship (which is every week night. ugh.), I will be able to update way more than obviously now.

I will try to post my two measley upcoming reviews, so until next time...

Haircare: Living Proof’s Full Thickening Mousse.

I’ve been eager to try their products I’ve always heard and read good things of Living Proof. Especially since this mousse has been released. Luckily, I got a really great deal at CosmoProf (I call it CosmoPoop); only $12 on sale (retail $24!) for the 5 oz! Even in Sephora and Ulta, they’re selling pretty fast. I couldn’t get my grubby hands on one until I went to CosmoPoop; they only had one left. I had to see what the hype was all about, and now I can see why…

The Good:

Again, like all of my so-called reviews, I always mention the smell! This is the only mousse I bought where it doesn’t smell nothing like alcohol! It’s either smells nothing but 100% alcohol or it’s covered with essential oils or other unknown scents, but you can still smell the over powering of alcohol. Bleh, but this mousse smells kind of fruity; mostly grapefruit…at least to me. Yum.

Alright, for the quality…well, this might be the best mousse I have ever used. The reason I say might since I’m always wanting to try something new. I just cant just stick to one product, but this mousse is really good. The very first time I used it, I did not like it, but that was because I used it wrong! The directions states,

“Start with clean, damp, detangled hair. Shake well and dispense an egg-sized amount into your palms. Rub together and distribute throughout your hair. Comb through and style as usual. For a more relaxed look, apply mousse as noted above and let hair air dry--tousling it as it dries.”

I know, it’s common sense, but if you don’t shake the can and not dispense the product completely upside down, you will not get the results you want. Again, the very first time I used this, It made my hair feel very gunky and sticky; I was very disappointed. I wanted to give it another shot, so once I followed the directions exactly, it worked!

I know this sounds lame whenever you read someone’s review of a new product, claiming it’s the best product ever since they’re excited about it (or whatever other reason)and find something else in a week better, but this is really great product. This mousse actually makes my hair feel and look fuller; I kid you not.

The reason I *compared the different mousse dispensers because it does come out a little different than other mousses; the Thickening Mousse does not come out fast and/or explode on the side of the wall or face when you’re trying to get the blasted product out (I know I’m not the only one). This product comes out a tad bit slow and the texture is completely different than MOST mousses (probably one similar, but I’m not aware of it). It’s very light and it actually does come out like an egg shape, so be patient!

The Bad:

It states on their official website that the thickening mousse will last until your next wash, well, that is not true…to a certain extent. I live in Florida, and it’s just starting to turn into Summer weather (oh, the joy.). I’ve notice when I’m sweating or when it starts to get humid outside, my hair falls instantly flat, but that happens with any hair product I use, but before it was getting humid and I wasn’t all sweaty and icky from work, it actually lasted for another day (I wash my hair every other day).

The price is pretty redonkulous. I didn’t pay for the retail price, but still $24 for a 5 oz can of mousse? That’s a little over priced. I think it’s worth in the range of $12 to $14 (the max $18). Don’t get me wrong, it’s a wonderful product, but too pricey. If the ounces were bigger (let’s say 8 oz?), then the price would be worth it.

Will I Purchase This Again?
Sure, when it’s on sale at CosmoProf or the Friends and Family sale at Sephora. It’s too expensive for the oz even though it’s an excellent product. I do highly recommend for anyone with fine hair, such as moi, to try out this product. Sephora does carry a “travel size” 1.9 oz for $14 (again, the price!) to try out. This is my first time trying anything of Living Proof, so I’m kind of eager to try their other products.

This is kind of random, but I think Living Proof is now considered a salon brand. I think it was known just for retail such as Ojon (I never see Ojon in salons, but I can see why since clients would just purchase at Sephora! Better benefits), but, at least in my area, I’m starting to see some local salons carrying Living Proof; not just the line alone, but with other brand names which I think is cool. Support local salons!

I’m usually not into hair brands that make their own makeup line, (Bed Head’s makeup is TERRIBLE. Just fyi), but Aveda caught my eye. Not because it’s “natural” and what not, but how they sell their makeup! Aveda sell their eye/face palettes in refillable, magnetic cases which I think that is pretty cool because normally you have to buy those type of cases separately off of another website. If I wasn’t obsessed with makeup (you know, owning quite a few random palettes that I probably don’t need), that’s something I would go for. Very convenient and simple. All you have to do is refill your old eye shadow and/or foundation tin and pay the difference. I just love how they push using the magnetic palettes and to store your own quad in it. I don’t know, I think that’s pretty cool.

Any who, ramble, ramble. I’m always on the hunt for a good finishing powder which I have found a couple that I really like such as Aromaleighs’ Metamorphosis and Purely Cosmetics' Diamond Powder. Of course Aromaleigh doesn’t make any more makeup, (so I’m savoring that powder), and I LOVE the Diamond Powder, but there’s not enough ounces in it for the price, but, in a way, I can see why it’s kind of small.

So, why is Aveda’s powder pretty freakin’ rad?

The Good
This is definitely translucent; Sometimes when I buy translucent powder, it comes off just a tad darker on my face and neck than the rest of my body; not crazy dark, but just noticeable.

This blends in so well which I was surprised because of the ingredients (Murumuru butter? Such a random ingredient). It doesn’t feel like it melts into my skin, such as the best mineral foundation ever: Aromaleigh’s Glissade, but it blends so smoothly without making me look and feel chalky. You know that feeling with some powders where your cheeks feel dry. Ugh, so annoying.

On those days when I’m in a hurry, I love that I can just use this powder to give me just enough coverage, (which I like a medium), and a dab of concealer, I’m good to go! Perfect for my retail-hell job.

This jar is huge! Most finishing powders are not this big. To me, 20 grams is pretty big. I normally go through finishing powders in 2 to 3 months, but Aveda’s powder has lasted me about a year! Definitely worth the $28.

The Bad
This has a very lovely scent; a light, floral smell, but for those who have sensitive skin might not be to keen on that or to those who are allergic to the ingredients such as Lavender or Rose. I know when I first purchased this, the scent was pretty strong, but since I’ve went through almost the whole jar, the floral scent has died down; not as strong.

For those with darker skin tones, this powder might make your skin a tad lighter. Aveda use to have other shades for other skin tones, but they must of discontinued them since it’s not on their web site any more.

It states on their website that it will brighten your skin, but I didn’t notice really any difference, but decent coverage. Then again, I have very pale skin, so my skin is already light enough!

Well, this isn’t necessarily bad for me, but Aveda has a terrible picture on their website of their best selling powder!

Um, ew? It looks like mold! You can do better than that, Aveda! Geebus.

Would I purchase this again? Maybe. Once I run out, I need to finish my other powder; unless I find something better. Always on the look out for something new! If you get the chance to try it out, you can purchase this on Aveda’s website, find a local salon that sells Aveda products, or if there’s an Aveda school near you, you can buy their products there. Aveda is just growing and growing…!

The $100 Shower Curtain.

Yes, you read that right. $100 from Sin In Linen! Or really $99. It just sounds better than just stating $99 -plus shipping- shower curtain! Any who, why is it this much? The front panel is made of sequins! There are three colors; black, silver, and red. These curtains are very beautiful…at least to me. :)

It’s one of those deals when I finish school and get my money situation together, then maybe. I’ve always wanted my own little “luxurious” bathroom. My own vanity with pretty containers to hold my makeup and a burlesque/show room type bathroom. One day…some day. :) Until then, I’m stuck with brown desk and tiny mirror. Ha!

I have no promo pictures and what not (the Muse does though!), but this line seems intriguing. Well, mostly the packaging. The packaging is just adorable, but I have a pretty good feeling that their line is, well, I’m going to sound snobby, but as good as Soap & Glory; very cute packaging, but not great quality.

There’s more items with this line, but this is the general idea. I haven’t had any luck with Benefit’s makeup in the past, but once this line is released, which is this coming April, I might have to check it out. This would look so pretty on a lovely vanity. I just hope its good!

Heavy Red’s Fall/Winter 2011 Collection!

It’s been a hot minute, eh? I actually need to update with some actual reviews, and not updates on my favorite sites! Whenever I get a day off, it’s my lazy day, so I do really nothing but chores and….well, pure laziness. My hours at retail hell has been up and down. Plus I go to class about every night (except Saturdays and Sundays). I’ve just been pooped! Whenever I get the chance though, I try to update at least a little something. I do love to blog. :)

Any who, Heavy Red added some items to their Fall/Winter collection and I’ve like what they’ve added. I think they read my previous Heavy Red Collection post, which is freakin’ rad, about the button up shirts not being able to role up the sleeves...at least I hope so. Also, right now, until February 14th, you will receive a free heart locket with orders over $150! Which that offer sounds kind of bleh, but if I had some extra cash to spend, I would totally spend that much. Let’s check out the awesome clothes I can’t afford! ;-P

Honestly, this is a very rare post where I just like about everything I see in this whole collection (I swear, I’m not being lazy so I can post this up)! I’m pretty impressed they changed the fabric for their famous button up shirts (well, just two so far). Probably if I didn’t want a particular item(s), it would probably be the layer striped sweater top and the sheer striped black hoodie. That’s about it. If I had some extra cash, I would probably get one of each! Hmmm, tax return is coming up. I might splurge on a couple items at least. ;) I just love how Heavy Red makes it where you can where it out and at work; very versatile.

I’m not a huge nail polish fanatic, but this collection looks like something I might have to grab! I love the color scheme for this set. Then again, normally when a color is very popular, I’ll try it. Remember when mint green was a must have now greys? Love it!

Sephora’s tokidoki Sodashop Collection!

I haven’t bought anything from their tokidoki collection since I’ve read mixed reviews when the line first came out; It’s either a “love or hate” type deal. I don’t hate tokidoki, but nothing has really caught my eye until their Sodashop line has been released (gee, I wonder why? ;p)!

I really want the Cromatico eyeshadow palette because, well, the packaging obviously and the colors remind me of a pin up look; pinks and grey are usually the common colors. I also love the lip balm stain which also reminds me of Fresh’s Lip Treatment, but ten times cheaper! ^-^
