I recently did a custom order for a candy cottage in 1:12 scale. Let’s take a peek!

I detail how to make this little house in ​How to Sculpt Miniature Holiday Foods​, but in that book I use a slightly different (and easier) method.

Rather than making flat pieces that you then assemble to create the house, like you would when making an edible gingerbread house, you simply cut out a solid block of house-shaped clay.

For something this small, using a solid chunk of clay doesn’t add much weight, and you don’t have to worry about precisely matching up the cookie edges and securing them before baking, as I did here.

Let’s take a closer look at those adorable cookie windows!

If you have my latest tutorial, 12 Days of Christmas Sweets, you can adapt the Festive M&M cookies project by swapping in different clay colors for the red and green.

Below, you can see two white icing lines, which will secure the peppermint stick pillars.

A Shy Bakery Case

It was super tricky to take pics without the pastries being obscured by glare. I tried loads of lighting techniques (angling the lights, filtering them with tissue paper, bouncing them off light cards…), but apparently the bakery case is a bit shy, so I did my best!

Eeeee! I’m in love!

Initially I’d planned to break up the desserts and sell them individually, but as the case began to fill, project by project, the thought of separating them was like a dollhouse knife to the heart. (What can I say? I get a bit dramatic.)

For now, I’m offering the bakery case as a ​single limited edition piece​. By default, the desserts aren’t glued down, so you can display them however you like. For instance…

You might remove a plate of cookies to place on the dollhouse mantle with a glass of milk for Santa. Or display the cookie sheet of chocolate blossoms on a cozy kitchen counter. The possibilities are endless.

A cozy Christmas kitchen

The mice and I have been baking up a tiny storm this month, and I have four limited edition pieces available. The first is a ​deluxe Christmas cookie decorating scene​! You get everything pictured here, so your dolls can do some cozy holiday baking of their own.

Whenever I’m starting a new tutorial book, the first thing I do is drool over Pinterest images to get the wheels turning.

While planning ​12 Days of Christmas Sweets​, about midway through I realized: all of the projects were bear-based. Whoops.

#1 The community board that made me gasp

I wasn’t expecting this little cork board of fliers to be my favorite part of the entire bakery, but I straight up gasped when I hung it on the wall. It makes the bakery look like an actual neighborhood spot!

#2 A world on a wooden spoon

This little baking scene cradled in a wooden spoon is actually an ornament! I hang it on my tree every year.

#3 Melty crumbly bits

I hesitated to include these ice cream sandwich earrings because I only have one pair available! But the heart wants what the heart wants…

Capturing the perfect melty bite with cookie crumbs was sooo satisfying to make!

First off: sugar plum fairy cupcakes.

Sometimes the tiny food gods bless me with a project that turns out waaaaay cuter than I’d pictured it in my head (and I was already anticipating it would be adorable!). This was one of those lucky moments.

I cannot get over how much I love these cupcakes.

Make Your Own with New Molds

I’ve updated my previous 1:12 scale cupcake mold. The size is slightly larger, which looks more true-to-scale. And I’ve added a 1:6 scale cupcake mold as well!

I also made a crinkle cookie mold, and it’s soooo darn cute! You could swap the clay color to make strawberry or lemon crinkle cookies, too.

(I have another new mold that I’m especially excited about, which I’ll tell you about at the end…)

New Tutorial in the Works

All of the sweets pictured above are from a new tutorial I’m working on, tentatively titled 12 Days of Christmas Sweets. I’m hoping to have it done within the next couple of weeks. Stay tuned!

Once the tutorial is finished and I no longer need the miniatures for the interior + cover photos, I’ll be listing the cupcakes and cookies pictured above in my shop. There will be only one of each set.

In the meantime, I’m keeping them dust-free in a tiny pastry case, which is sitting beside my worktable. Every time I look at it I get this big, cheesing grin. Very motivating, let me tell ya!

New Pie Mold

I am super excited about this one! I’ve revamped my 1:12 scale pie mold to give it a delicate fluted crust, and I’ve added a 1:6 scale pie mold as well.

Did you know I literally dream of miniatures? Well, in one of my dreams, I saw a way to create a foil pie pan using the mold. I wasn’t sure it would work in waking life, but…it did! I’ll be showing you how to do it in another upcoming tutorial.

Last but not least, I finally listed the holiday-shaped Rice Krispies treats molds used in the ​Readers’ Requests tutorial​. Apologies for the delay. I actually thought I’d listed them already—whoops.
