Chief Medical Officer, Hospice and Palliative Care – N. Iowa

The Chief Medical Officer shall provide and/or supervise the medical aspects of the delivery of care for the Hospice & Palliative Care program and the associated Fellowship program. This includes oversight for the quality of care, assistance in the development of standards of practice, and assistance with the development of programs to assure competence of hospice and palliative care staff.

Requirements:

A. Education:

Graduate from an accredited school of medicine and licensed to practice in the state of Iowa.
Board Certification/eligible in the practice specialty of Hospice and Palliative Medicine. If eligible will obtain boards within 18 months of accepting position

B. Experience

Minimum of 2 years experience in Hospice and Palliative Care
Managerial experience of people and processes preferred.

C. Special Skills, Competencies, and Aptitudes

1. Knowledge and belief in hospice and palliative concept of care.

Demonstrated ability in program administration, knowledge of health care policy and reimbursement issues.
Strong working knowledge of Medicare Conditions of Participation for Hospice and Palliative Care and JCAHO Standards.

Cardiothoracic Surgeon – Harrisburg, PA

Reorganization has created an urgent need for a Cardiovascular Surgeon with this innovative program in Harrisburg, PA.

The ideal candidate will have strong surgical skills, good judgment, be open to innovation, have great team interaction and like to be challenged. The group is currently doing 500-600 procedures per year, including over 400 bypass and 175 valve and specialty procedures. There are currently 50 ongoing Cardiac research trials. Support staff consists of 4 PAs and a strong referral base of 37 Cardiologists in the immediate area.

Hospital Chief Medical Officer – Georgia

The Murphey Group, Inc. has been retained by a non-profit, acute-care community hospital licensed for 231-beds in Southeastern Georgia. Our client serves as a regional referral center for more than 155,000 Southeast Georgians in a 9-county region. This facility is fully accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations.

The hospital has a new Interventional Cardiology Program with state-of-the-art equipment and facilities. The hospital has state-of-the-art technologies in place to include the following: IntelliDOT, e-ICU, Phillips OB TraceVue, a 1.5 Tesla MRI, and a 64-slice CT scanner.

Active medical staff totals 80. The facility currently employs 20 physicians to in the following specialties: Cardiology, Pulmonology, Neurology, Orthopedic Surgery, General Surgery, and Hospitalist physicians.

Education:

-Medical education and training at institutions of high repute; Board Certification in a clinical discipline is required.

-Additional education and coursework in management and business would enhance candidacy. An MBA or equivalent business experience preferred.

Experience:

-At least 10 years of clinical practice, with a reputation as an excellent physician.

-Demonstrable leadership role and achievement in a complex healthcare delivery system.

-Experience in fiscal accountability and budgeting.

-Knowledge and experience of quality infrastructure is needed, including how to develop and implement decision tools, clinical protocols and guidelines, care management programs, and outcome measurement assessments.

-Needs working knowledge of information technology, including statistical analysis, clinical epidemiology, and medical informatics; understanding of best practices and how to successfully introduce information technology into clinical practice.

Expectations:
In the first eighteen months to two years, significant progress should be demonstrated in the following areas:

-There will be measurable improvement in physician and patient satisfaction.

-Be an advocate for the medical staff vantage point in promoting collaboration with Administration and the Board of Trustees.
