MM liked The Who (note the past tense). A band calling themselves The Who will be rockin' out the Super Bowl (TM) this Sunday during the halftime show. It is fronted by a "cool" Greg Brady lookalike (the one that had to have his own room, and called his parents by their first name, then realized he was growing old too fast and decided to go on the camping trip at the last minute) and some old bald dude.

I know... If Pete Townshend really wants to call himself and Roger Daltrey The Who, he can, because I am pretty sure he owns the rights to the name. But really... Zak Starkey may be a MUCH better drummer than his old man, but he ain't no Keith Moon. And don't get me started on the replacement of John Entwistle. As far as I am concerned, The Who may not have officially died with Moon, but it did with Entwistle.

So enjoy the greatest hits mash-up Pete and CBS have spliced together (you don't think Daltrey will actually attempt to sing live, do you?).. and say a prayer for no costume malfunctions!

They open the Grammaphones with an all star tribute to Michael, then morph it into "We Are The World" featuring a Jackson (now 4) reunion, into a benefit for Haiti. Q gets his name in the paper, and we can all feel good about buying the "We Are The World 2 Electric Boogaloo - For Haiti's Sake" at Wal-Mart when we are picking up our Oscar Mayer brand "Lil Smokies."

MÖTLEY CRÜE/SIXX A.M. bassist Nikki Sixx, who turned 51 in December, has confirmed the end of his two-year relationship with 27-year-old tattoo artist and "L.A. Ink" star Kat Von D (born Katherine Von Drachenberg).

"I want to wish Katherine nothing but the best in her life," Sixx writes on his MySpace page. "She has loved and inspired the hell outta me and I know I have done the same for her in these almost two years we ruled the earth together.

"We are taking a break from our relationship for reasons that we will choose to keep personal. You won't find me saying a bad word about her and I don't believe vice versa… We have too much wonderful history together to ever deface that."

In a November 2009 interview with Fox News, Kat Von D stated about her relationship with Sixx, "I learn so much from him — this is the most fruitful relationship I have ever had. We read a lot together and we are really into self-help books and wisdom books and it's cool — I am constantly learning from him. We are big fans of the 'Four Agreements', 'A New Earth' and we just finished Dr. Drew's new book which has made the most impact on me recently. He talks about narcissism and healthy ways to handle it. But (being in the public eye) is difficult — anybody who says it's not is lying. Especially being in a relationship with someone who is also in the limelight makes it hard not to pay attention to some of the public's feedback."

In my previous installment of Pathetic Old Rock Stars, I addressed the issue of lead singer replacement and the fact that a rock band with a new lead singer is a different rock band. Not the same band; not a better band; just a different, crappier band. It recently occurred to me that there is another side to that coin. What happens when the least talented band members try to capitalize on their former band’s success by going out on their own? Ladies and Gentlemen - I give you the most underrated, under appreciated, and yes, the least talented band member of all time: Ringo Starr.

Ringo has just released what is perhaps the most pathetic solo effort of all time. Apparently, he enlisted the help of “legendary musicians” such as Joe Walsh, Dave Stewart, Paul McCartney, and Ben Harper – These guys shit gold… so what the hell happened? Before I go any further, have a listen:
