Neon Watermarble

Hey everyone! Posting from my phone, so blame the funky layout on that :)

What I have in this post is a neon water marble I did quite some time ago using the 2012 China Glaze neons. Neons seem to be the only polishes I can marble with, but it's ok because I love the result!

I had to include a pre-cleanup photo. I forgot to use Vaseline and ended up with this mess!

What do ya think? My next venture into marbeling will be holo accents, but I hate wasting so much holo goodness, so no full mani..... Yet. Wish me luck!!!

Spy Princess Nails

Hi all! This is the last of my indie reviews, for now. I have one more I need to take (new) photos of, but that's it!

These came from an (at the time) brand new indie company called Spy Princess Nails. At least up until now, all the polishes she's created are spy themed. For my review, she sent me Cloak and Dagger, and White Tie Affair.

First up is Cloak and Dagger. This is a blackened blue base (consisting entirely of a navy shimmer/micro glitter) polish with large and small silver hexes, a small amount of silver bar glitter and black hexes. I REALLY like this polish. I did three coats below, but if you go look at the swatches on her etsy page, I think she has it over blue and it is incredible! I may be wrong about that, but I know that's how I will wear this polish from now on.

White Tie Affair is a glitter topper that contains black hex glitter, along with small silver bar glitter and small silver/holo squares and tiny holo hexes. I really like this one too! It was hard to capture on the nail, but you can see how gorgeous the holo is looking at the bottle. VERY pretty!

I was very impressed with both of the samples she sent. I would love to try the polishes from the Alias collection, as well as High Society. Those all look amazing! You can buy Spy Princess Nails on etsy for $8.50 each.

Pretty Me Polish

Number 3! The first two polishes that I will show you are not available, but the third one is! (Sorry again)

First up from the polishes Jeanette from Pretty Me Polish is Strawberry. THIS is a red I can get behind! It is a true red jelly with black square glitters. This polish is so squishy and bright! I love it! I used three coats here. When I opened the package, I couldn't wait to put it on!

This polish was never named and never released, but I wanted to show it anyway. It was a really unique duochrome that went from gold to green to pink. I really love this, and I'm not really into toppers. I think she needs to produce this one!

The last polish I was sent is Aluminum Christmas Tree. I didn't really like this one at first because it is absolutely full of holo hair glitter. I hate hair glitter! However, this IS a very festive polish! With the green, red and blue hexes, it goes over almost any base color to add lots of shine.

From what I have used of Pretty Me, I really like them! The jelly covered in only three coats, and I absolutely adore the duochrome (even though she won't sell it!)! You can buy Pretty Me Polish on etsy for $6-8. There is plenty of variety, and lots of new shades!

LynBDesigns Review

Hey ladies! Here is number two of my "I've had these for months but haven't posted them because I suck" reviews. There will be several more, then the new Zoya collections *squee!*, and then a few more. I'm tellin ya, I am WAY behind! Hope you don't get sick of me while I get caught up!

Today I have some awesomesauce from LynBDesigns. I actually got to pick these out on my own and these were the ones I was excited to try at the time. Let me tell you, her shop has grown and is FULL of incredible looking polish now! If I weren't running low on cash (med bills. yay!), I would have snagged up plenty between then and now. Most of these are still available (unlike the Amy's Nail Boutique polishes), but some of them are on clearance right now. If you like anything, run over to her etsy to grab them before they are gone!

First up is Colorful Expletive. I really didn't know this until Monday night, but this is part of the "retirement home" section (meaning it is going to be gone soon! eek!). At first I thought it was the name of the collection and I seriously about lost it. I was laughing SO HARD because it instantly brought work to mind! Anyway, Colorful Expletive is a glitter topper that has a mixture of fine holo glitter, holo stars and holo bar/"hair" glitter. The picture I have doesn't do anything for it, but it is seriously gorgeous! The stars had to be coaxed into place a little, but I have never had a shaped glitter that didn't need to be. Other than that, I love it!

Snowball Fight was one of the winter polishes. It contains small (tiny, really) red hexes, white glitter of various shapes and sizes, and almost transparent white hexes. Those were my favorite part! They truly made the "snow" feeling! If you enlarge the picture, you will be able to see those better. I think this would make a great topper for almost any color!

Foiled Again is another very pretty polish. I feel like I should swatch it over black now... It contains small silver holo hexes and bar glitter, and a very, very fine glitter that give it an almost frosty finish. Another good topper!

Next I have the black sheep of the bunch, Percival. I was really excited for this polish, but I think it may be the only fail of the group. It has a gorgeous purpleish pink base, but the shimmer makes it kind of frosty and the random diamond glitters just seem out of place. I don't know. I'll let you decide about this one. The formula was great, I just don't know if I like it on me or not!

Last, we have I think is my favorite of the group, Black Tie. This is a gorgeous black crelly with gold flakes in it. The effect is really quite subtle, but still elegant. I think this would be a great polish to go with your LBD!

Overall, I really enjoy LynBDesigns, and I will definitely buy more! The only "meh" was Percival, and I can't really put my finger on why since it has a good formula.

Hello everyone! It's a wonderful stormy evening here (again... all week now!), and I figure there is no better time to get caught up on reviews. On posting in general, actually. I have no answers for you as to why I've been gone other than work has just drained all my motivation. I'm not sure if that's truly it or not, but I'm thinking it might be. Every time I want to do a post when I get home, I end up going to work and not wanting to do anything by the time I get back. I'm sure a few of you have jobs like that! Enough of that though. I'm here now, and that's what counts, right??

Around Christmas time, I was sent two lovely polishes from Amy's Nail Boutique from her winter collection. I'll start off by saying, unfortunately these aren't available anymore. However, she has some absolutely incredible new polishes for 2013! Seriously, check out Electric Eel, buy it, and thank me later.

Up first is Frosty. Frosty is a glitter topcoat with silver micro glitter and white, blue and iridescent/holo small size hexes. I used it over blue and absolutely loved how it looked! I would almost compare it to snowflakes falling.. but only if they are big ones on a sunny day! (That's my favorite kind of snow. HUGE snowflakes coming down with the sun still peeking out of the clouds).

The second polish she sent me was Silent Night. This one was a surprise. I also expected it to be a glitter topper, but as I was applying the first coat, I decided to take it to opaque. This is what it looks like at three coats. It is very reminiscent of OPIs Last Friday Night, but with a slightly darker base. I really love this one!

As you can see, both of these polishes are just stunning! There is nothing I didn't love about them and they are way perfect for either cold winter days, or maybe even pool days in the summer. I have never really seen Amy put out anything I didn't at least want to try, so I have no negatives!

Zoya Pixie Dust

Hi ladies! I'm finally back! Again. ;) Don't worry, I have lots of things drafted. I just need to get them finished up. Perfect for my "vacation!" I have a few days and I'm planning on catching up with all the photos I already have lined up.

What I have for you today is something you've seen a lot of lately. Zoya sent me their brand new Pixie Dust shade to review! I was super excited about these after OPI came out with their liquid sands and they were amazing. How did I feel about them after receiving them, though? Let's find out!

Godiva

Godiva is a classy nude shade that reminds me of a "sandy" version of Jacqueline that came out with the Lovely collection. It actually looks great on my skintone, and I'm wondering when I can wear it! Unfortunately, it takes 3+ coats to be fully opaque, but I imagine it could be layered quite successfully.

Vespa

This is a sage green beauty that I LOVE! It isn't quite as "dusty" as other sages we've seen from Zoya lately, making it perfect for me. Vespa also required 3 coats to full coverage.

Nyx

One of the favorites that I was sent to review, Nyx is a gorgeous periwinkle shade that contains silver glitter like the rest I've showed. In natural lighting it shows more blue, but actually leans more to the purple side on my skin tone. Love! This one took three coats as well.

London

I like to think of this as being named after one of my gorgeous nieces. Her name is London as well, and she was born in October. Her Mommy has been waiting for this shade ever since it was announced! I feel like the color represents a stormy day in London, dark and gray, but still gorgeous! London could almost use two coats, but I ended up with three.

Dahlia

First of all, can I comment that I am so happy they finally named a polish Dahlia? I LOVE that name! Ok. Moving on. This was only one of two in this set that I'm reviewing that doesn't require three coats. Dahlia is a simple black with silver glitter.

Chyna

Finally, we have my favorite of the review sample pack, Chyna! I think I like this so much because, despite being a red, it is the only polish with glitter matching the base color. No silver in here! I used two coats to get to the rich red that you see in the bottle.

The formula on these polishes was pretty incredible. Some of them were a little sheer, but I had no problems with bald spots, streakiness (is that possible with pixies?), or any other issues. They all built up well by three coats. I've seen some gorgeous gradients using these, I just haven't been able to reproduce them yet! I'm just SO bad at nail art! LOL I am very glad I chose to accept samples to review and I can see me wearing at least half the shades quite a bit!

In related news, Zoya is coming out with a Summer Pixie Dust collection! They are all bright and amazing colors, so I'm super excited for those too! Here are the first pictures of these:

Don't they look incredible?? They look like most of them may be like Chyna, with glitter that matches the base. If so, I will be DYING over these!

"Dark Blue With Silver Stars and Glitter"

Hello hello! Posting two days in a row? Holy cow! Okay, let's not get excited yet... but I DO have all my photos pulled off my camera and drafted. All I have to do is write posts for them! Hopefully I'll be caught up in a month or two! *groans* Yeah, I let myself get THAT far behind. Let's be happy I didn't take regular NOTD pictures too! I'd be set for the rest of the year! Today's post is one of those NOTD posts I said I didn't do while I was gone. See? I lied already. I'm horrible. There REALLY aren't many though!

This is the result of asking a male friend what I should paint on my toes. The title says it all. In fact, I believe that was his exact response followed by "I'm going to bed now." My friends all either think my blogging/addiction is hilariously nuts, or boring as hell. He varies between making fun of me and just being bored. This particular night, he was bored. Moving on though...

As you can see, I translated his suggestion, not to my toes, but to my fingers. Again, I lie. This was on my toes for WEEKS before I decided I liked it and put it on my fingers. He did good. Only, I took his suggestion very loosely since I hate doing nail art. The stars are big pieces of glitter and the glitter is, well, smaller pieces of glitter. I have no clue what the base color is, but I'm sure it's a China Glaze and the glitter is either China Glaze Techno or OPI Servin' Up Sparkle. It really is impossible to tell. Which is why I sold the OPI.

Since I've gotten the feeling that you are getting bored with my attempts at being witty (or being tired translating into failed attempts to be witty), I shall bow out for the night. Even I am sick of myself! AND I have to work today. At 5am (which explains me pre-writing haha). So, I'm hoping you will leave some comments, as I love reading them and it reminds me that I still have this blog! Makes me check in :) Thanks for reading!

Has It Really Been So Long?

Hi girls!

I just recently (as in about five minutes ago) looked at my posts and realized it's been over a month since I even checked in! I am appalled that I would neglect you and the blog in such a fashion! So, my ass is writing posts RIGHT NOW! I have about a bajillion pictures that I've just been sitting on for who knows how long (at least September, some of them!) so I have tons I can post. Mostly reviews, though. I find when I'm not posting much it has something to do with the condition of my nails, so I don't have many random NOTD type pictures. There are some in there though! What I WILL put up today are the last few looks I found on my SD card. I cannot for the life of me remember the details of these manis, so it'll be a sort of "spam" post... Ok, I'm going to go back to work now! I'll see you all again soon!

Zoya Lovely: Spring 2013

I would like to start this post with my opinion that Zoya is officially running out of names. The past couple of collections have left "say what?!?" type reactions in the community, and I would like to see what they come up with next! lol

Now I am going to show you MY swatches of the Lovely collection! Every swatch I've seen has looked different, but, oddly enough, most of them (except the ones that look super bright) are pretty accurate. Check out my version and see what you think!

For all swatches I used three coats. I seemed to have the usual issues that one finds with pastels. Some bloggers have had better luck with the formula, but I'm not one of the lucky ones. Thinning the creams may possibly help, but the shimmers have to be used as is.

Neely

Neely is a dusty sage green cream. Not bright, but definitely spring! This is unique to my collection.

Piaf

(See what I mean about the names?) This is a green tinted yellow shimmer. It is very Easter-like to me, and I like it more on my nails than I do in the bottle. A nice surprise.

Blu

This is a pale, sky blue cream. Very nice, but I wish I could have made two coats work.

Julie

I was most excited about this and GieGie. Julie is a very pale lilac with silver shimmers. Very springy and gorgeous!

Gie Gie

I LOVE Gie Gie! It is a super light, very girly light pink with silver shimmer. My favorite of the collection!

Jacqueline

Jacque is a pale nude yellow. The bottle color in the picture is accurate, but on the nail it seems like more of a yellow. It actually reminds me a lot of (but doesn't dupe) Illamasqua Load. Definitely interesting!

Overall, I like the collection. The shades are (exclusive of Blu) unique and just interesting enough to stand out. I don't have anything like a single shade in this collection. I wish that I could make them work in two coats, and maybe some thinner will help, but if that deters you, you may not like these. My two favorites are Gie Gie and Julie for sure, and I recommend you pick those up!

Zoya Ornate Swatches

Hi everyone! How was your holiday season? I didn't even say Happy New Year to all of you! I guess that's partly why I declared myself Worst Blogger Ever on Facebook. ;) I think I've figured out that my real problem is with procrastination, so I'm going to try to work on that this year. It's always been a problem, and I'm ready to change it. Doing my nails and blogging makes me happy, so why not just do it instead of putting it off? I don't know. Anyway....I am finally getting around to posting (most) of the Zoya Ornate collection!! You've seen these a million times since I'm so slow to get to it, but I haven't seen them in a couple weeks, which makes this a great time to post them! I'm missing Blaze because I left it at a friend's house (again, horrible blogger! LOL), but the rest are here, and they are fabulous!

The formula on these was typical Zoya. Fantastic! I really had no problem with any of them! The collection consists of Ziv - the lone foil, Electra - full of holo bar glitter, Logan - a gorgeous green with gold metallic tendencies, and Aurora, Storm and Blaze--- HOLOS! Yes, Zoya has finally gotten into the holo game! In a BIG way. So without further ado... The Ornate collection for Winter 2012!

Electra

Electra is a clear base packed with silver holo bar glitters. This is one coat over Logan, but can be layered to nearly opaque for a neat effect.

Ziv

Ziv is a totally unique gold. I don't have a lot of gold in my collection because I think they all look the same, but I definitely would have bought this one on my own! Instead of the usual foil finish, there are darker gold flecks in the base making both the color and finish completely unique.

Logan

Ms. Logan is an evergreen shade with a gorgeous golden shimmer running throughout. I haven't seen anything like it! Very pretty and appropriate to the season!

Now, my two favorite (of the pictures I have... Blaze is definitely a favorite of the collection as well!)... The holos! Both of these have an almost jelly base with scattered holo particles. While the effect isn't linear, it couldn't be more gorgeous. I think Zoya hit a total home-run with their first venture into holographic polishes!

Aurora

A gorgeous purple with scattered holo. This shade is almost perfect and I've already worn it several times! That's pretty rare with the collection that I have...

Storm

OMG. This is an absolute stunner! If you aren't paying attention, you could see this and think it was a cool galaxy nails type finish, but then you really look and see all the colors.

So there you have it! The Ornate collection was BY FAR my favorite holiday collection, and possibly overall collection, of the year. Every single polish was completely unique to my collection, and there's only one that I won't wear on a regular basis! However, if I were asked which ones I couldn't live without, they would be Storm and Aurora. Probably Blaze (but I didn't show her to you, so I can't officially pick it!). As always, these are available on the Zoya website for $8 each. However, they are having a promotion through 1/13/13 that allows you to purchase any three shades (excluding the new Lovely and Pixie Dust collections) and only pay shipping! Christmas Eve is Here!!!!!!

Hi everyone! Where in the world did this year go?? I think (unfortunately) I could count the number of posts I've done this year on my fingers and toes. Yikes. I hadn't planned a non-Christmas post for today, but I decided to go ahead and put this up here anyway (hence the messiness... you weren't supposed to see!!!!!!!!!). I bought the entire Color Club Winter Affair collection at Sally's when they came out. I was satisfied for about a week, then I got annoyed that I didn't own the namesake, Winter Affair. Shortly after, I happened upon it in a blog sale and bought it and Gift of Glitter, also annoyed that there were two versions of that name. Let me tell you, it was a GREAT buy! I love love LOVE Gift of Glitter! It is so super pretty!

I took the photos with my phone so I could show you that it (FINALLY!) isn't broken anymore! I got a really nice Christmas bonus at work and used it to buy new screens so I could have it fixed. It made a world of difference!

Darling Diva Polish: A Christmas Story

Hi ladies! I have one of those review thingies I promised you... Took awhile, yeah? Straight on to it!

One of my favorite indie brands out there is Darling Diva Polish. I hadn't really been exposed until a swap buddy requested some of her polishes. I was sad afterwards that I didn't get any for myself. Now, I have the chance to review them and I am so excited! I was sent three polishes from the A Christmas Story collection to check out. What did I think? Read on!

Frah-zhee-lay

This polish is named after the box that the leg lamp comes in. Ya know, the lamp that was a "trophy?" Yeah, that lamp. The "electric sex gleaming in the window." This polish has large green hexes, large holo hexes, small red hexes, gold bar glitter and some extra little shimmer in there. The holo hexes make this polish worth it. They are seriously eye catching! I had to dig for them a little, but a good shake before application made it not so bad. I believe this polish is actually scented as well. I'm not sure what the scent is, but it's very pleasant. Two coats.

Crooked Star

This "shade" ladies and gentlemen... Was not my cup of tea. We start off with that string glitter everyone seems to be using these days and end with the stars that you almost have to dig out of the bottle. The redeeming quality is the tiny red glitter. That makes all the trouble (almost) worth it! If you like string glitter, I'm sure you would love this. It's Christmas tree decorating in a bottle (tinsel, anyone?). Two coats.

A Christmas Story

Finally, we have the polish that is the collection namesake. I. Love. It! Omg! It is basically tons of red and green micro glitter. There is also some holo micro glitter and another color or two that I can't really tell what it is. Blue maybe? I don't know, but I seriously love it. I was so excited when I saw it for the first time! On the nail it is darker, more green, like the bottom picture. Maybe even a little darker. It is absolutely gorgeous! Only two coats to opaque as well :)

Finally, my last picture shows why I haven't been swatching or anything. I posted a pic a couple days ago that was newer, so you can see there's been a little regrowth but not much. I think I'm going to do some swatching Christmas day and the day after. We'll see! (these polishes are actually review polishes so... sneak peek!)

Overall I was very pleased with this collection. I wasn't totally thrilled with Crooked Star, but like I said, it has it's good points. The definite winner for me is A Christmas Story! You can find Darling Diva polishes at her etsy shop here for $8 each. If you are interested in any of this collection, I would check them out now!

Hi all! Just wanted to post quick and show you my excuse for not being around, especially if you are wondering why I haven't done your review yet!!

Quick update!

I had been working on some things and I decided to screw up my computer. Awesome, eh? I lived without it for almost a week and couldn't take it anymore! I tirelessly worked on it until I got it operational again. YAY! I'm not going to promise that I will be fully into a schedule mode just yet, but I do have some indie reviews and things like that coming so, stay tuned!
