It’s a New Year and we are very excited about this years projects and opportunities!

We talked last year about creating a team to make a full feature movie and learn the process by doing so from start to finish. The Nanaimo Film Group will be hosting a meeting at Serious Coffee Pipers location (102 – 4750 Hammond Bay Rd.Back Meeting Room) Jan 16th @ 7PM.We need to see how much interest there is for this project and the next steps that need to be taken. If you are interested in attending please let us know, if you are unable to attend but are still interested please advise as well. This project can not happen without your dedication and support.

A talented writer in Nanaimo has written a sitcom pilot, called First Hill, to be shot entirely around Central Vancouver Island. The series is about a group of friends and how their lives can weave together in clever and hilarious situations.

FIRST HILL is a comedy series that explores the lives of five friends and how they accidentally get mixed up with one another and end up ruining each others chances for success, love and ultimate happiness.

For Danny, not only is moving back home to Seattle after a failed marriage to a woman he met on the internet just four months earlier humiliating enough, he has to restart his life with nothing (since she literally took everything he owned). Sleeping on the couch of his two childhood friends, Wade and Carl, Danny seeks comfort in the arms of the upstairs neighbour Libby, who shares the upstairs apartment with Joanna, but finds his pursuit for love and happiness hindered by the schemes and exploits of his two friends.

I strongly encourage local individuals that want to support these kinds of projects to pitch in a few bucks. This project has amazing potential and you have an opportunity to help them increase their chances of success.
