Here is a list of cons I can see.

1. Deaf people
   • They are not going to be able to hear your great work.
   • You Could always have text keywords flashing up but this does not really fix the problem
2. Mobile Devices
   • Most mobile devices can’t play video as of yet. New generation of devices can like the iphone.
   • If they can play video there download speed is not great so that stupid buffering message will come up a lot!
3. Bandwidth
   • They take up a lot of room
   • Views might have poor internet connection
   • Quality may be ruined!
4. Paper Copy
   • Your content will not be printable - you might giggle to yourself a bit but there is nothing better than a hard copy. I have a paper copy of the wordpress cheat sheet
5. SEO
   • Google can’t watch your video yet so till then search engines  has no idea what you are saying in your video!!
   • You will not get any search engine browny points for your video

Most of these cons can be fixed if there is a text copy published with images. Then you are killing 2 birds with one stone somehow haha.

You might be asking yourself why did Simon post this, Well if that’s the case all will be explained.

I  have good success with starting forums on EA games, and opened We are Battlefield Heroes in March 2008, I used vbulliten which was the right chose at the time. Which brings me one to this post and video.

I have started a new forum about the EA game Battlefield 1943 and you can find it here. Its using phpbb3 as a bit of a experment but will probly change to vb or ipb once traffic increases.

For the Forum I was really wishing to use vanilla a free open source forum which I have become attacted to and always play with on my local server. ( a laptop connected the network). The problem has come that when I wanted to start a new forum vanilla has never really being top of the list. It does not have the power to run a complect forum even after you have installed the 100’s of extensions.

The Forum has loads going for it, Its tableless and coded in valid css and html. The framework is really easy to code plugins for and modifie. ( might be bad because of hacking). And the site also comes with the opsion for seo urls which most forums to not have for free.

Were as there is wordpress is the king of blogging in my view vanilla is not the king of forums, there is no real master of forums. I desiced to use vbulletin for the forum as I knew it has the power to cope with 1000’s of members. But as good as Vbulletin is its not free. Its a lot of money for me being at collage. And i have still not made my money back on it. ( even thought thats not a real worry )

After setting up the site I looked in to vbulletin seo. I wish I had not! Vbseo the one and only good seo tool for vb cost loads $147!! And I think this lets down vbulliten, its rubbish out the box seo. And 99% of vbulliten templates are talbed based. If you want a laugh run the valid html test on we are battlefeild hereos!! here. There is almost no point in trying to fix that.

So You developers out there I would like to see a forum with the power of vbulltin/IPB with the simplisty and get framework like vanilla, with great seo and the simple installer like the wordpress 5 mins one. ( I think I nailed 2 mins once) I do not have the coding experensice to write a forum myself, i only have made a blog once. But I would love to see what you can do.

   this was you always have the casting vote.
3. Host your self and don’t give them passwords
   they could take it down.
4. Contracts!!
   this gives you a leg to stand on

It gives you loads of options to set up you site map. I have set the sitemap only to look at the static pages once a month.

What is wrong with the net? Its not OK to abuse someone in the street but it is on Internet.

Three days ago I posted about how I hate Spam. I wrote that SPAM and spam are not the same. SPAM is meat (see image with all capitals) and spam is “abuse of electronic messaging systems to indiscriminately send unsolicited bulk messages.”

Anyway somebody thought I was wrong And wrote “actually it’s the other way round you f***ing ape” Even if I was wrong I would not expect that.

Note to all spammers( spelled lower case) I will rip the Sh*t out of you if you spam me.
