All you need to get on the road. Don’t forget you will need insurance, fuel, and to put some $$ aside each month for repair and maintenance.

If you're disabled and unable to work, a vehicle can be hard to come by. However, you might still need one to get to medical appointments, run errands and visit family. Fortunately, there are some ways for you to try to get a free set of wheels. Here's how.

If You Live in the US
Have your information ready. Gather a small packet of proof, paperwork, and reasons why you need a car. If you can clearly outline how having a car will positively impact your life, people might be more likely to give to you. Consider including:
Proof of your disability. Medical records, doctor's notes, or Social Security Disability Income check stubs would all be appropriate.
Proof of your expenses. Tally up how much housing, utilities, food, and other necessities cost you each month, and compare it against your disability income (if you're on SSDI). This can help you demonstrate that you can't afford a car on your own.
A list of reasons why you need a car. Write down the reasons why you need reliable transportation. If public transit is not an option for you, note the reasons why.
Brainstorm on how you'll afford insurance, gas, maintenance, and registration expenses. Unfortunately, getting the car itself for free is only half of the expense — the rest will come from daily upkeep. Keep in mind that your car will have to be insured, as well as registered through the state. You'll also need to take it in for servicing every 4 to 6 months, as well as purchasing gas. If you cannot bear these expenses, be sure to note that when you're requesting a free car.
Try Free Charity Cars. Free Charity Cars accepts people's old cars as a charity donation (so they can have the tax write-off) and redistributes them to people in need.
Know if you're eligible. You must be a US citizen living in America. You might qualify for a free charity car if you are also:
A victim of domestic violence
Medically needy
A victim of a natural disaster, such as a hurricane or tornado
Transitioning from public assistance to working
Living in a transitional shelter
Working poor (that is, working and living under the national poverty line, which is $23,050 for a family of four in 2012)
Part of an active-duty military family^[1]
Apply online. Visit the Free Charity Cars website (listed in References below) and make a profile. Try to tell people your story in a compelling way (using the information you gathered in Step 1) and wait for the votes to come in! If you can, ask your online friends to make a profile and vote for you.
Talk to local churches. Most churches are non-profit organizations, meaning that if someone donates a car to the church, that person can claim it as a tax write-off. If the members are made aware of your situation, perhaps one of them will consider donating a car to you through the church.
If you already attend a church regularly, start there. Make your case to your ecclesiastical leader using the information you accumulated in Step 1, and ask if he or she can do anything to help you.
You shouldn't join a church just to get a free car. A good church won't try to "trade" a car for your beliefs, but if you want to be a good person, it would be honorable to at least consider the merits of an institution that displays such generosity and helpfulness to you.
Contact non-profit organizations that focus on your particular disability. If the person you talk to is not aware of any existing programs for free cars, try to speak to a few different people to make sure (without being disrespectful towards the first person you spoke to). You can also check their website. If it's not free, they may have a low-cost program, or a payment program with little or no interest.
Talk to auto mechanics. Since they know how to fix vehicles, they might come across a car that can be fixed for a low price and that would fit your needs. Perhaps a church or a generous person will pay for the repairs for you, or they'll give you a loan with little or no interest. Or, someone might have an old car that they don't want to go through the trouble of repairing, but it has sentimental value for them. You could try to convince a mechanic to fix it for you for a discounted price.
Network. The more people you have a connection to, the better the chance that someone will empathize with your plight and find a way to help you. If you're not a naturally sociable person, this may feel very awkward for you, but it's important, and sometimes necessary, to step out of your comfort zone. Also, if you have any feelings of shame or pride that get in the way of asking for help, you must overcome them. See How to Be Humble. Everybody needs help sometimes, and there is no shame in asking for it when you truly need it.
Look for ways you can help people. Can you tutor? Babysit? Fix something? Rake a yard? Practice Random Acts of Kindness. You never know when someone you've helped might end up helping you back.
Use social networking to your advantage. In addition to networking in person, you'll be able to reach out to more people through the Internet. Create accounts on MySpace, Facebook, and Twitter. Share your struggles and efforts.
Reconsider whether you really need a car. Have you read How to Live Without a Car yet? Can you get by on renting a car once or twice a month (see How to Get a Discount Car Rental Rate) or using something like a Zipcar?

If You Live in the UK
Apply for disability, with a mobility component. If you have a Disability Living Allowance (DLA) in the United Kingdom, part of your money can be used to pay the lease on a car from Motability, as well as providing you with money for gas and expenses. See this page for more information.
Be aware that Motability has been under increased scrutiny lately ^[2]. Make sure you truly qualify for a car before you apply, in order to avoid a messy situation later.
If you can't get on DLA, try some of the methods listed above for the States. With the exception of Free Charity Cars, any of the suggestions are possibilities. You never know who might have a car they're willing to give you, or at least lend to you occasionally. Ask around and see what you can turn up.

Look over How to Reduce Expenses. Maybe there are some ways you can save money to buy a car.
When talking with people on the phone, always be insistent but polite. Thank them for their time, and follow up with a thank you note. They may keep it, and if they DO hear anything, they'll let you know.

Interesting bit of timing here, as Google has announced a new service called Google Keep, which is a way of taking and keeping track of personal notes for your own use. It's basically an Evernote competitor. I use a variety of Google products, and normally, this might interest me, but I'm seriously having doubts about bothering, following the abrupt shutdown of Google Reader. Is it worth entrusting data to a service that might be killed abruptly? It seems fairly bizarre to violate users' trust so much, and then days later ask for it right back. Obviously, this doesn't apply to all services -- but something that may become integral to the way someone works is something that people need to have confidence will remain in business for a while. In the past, people assumed that Google products would do stay around because it's "Google and Google is so big." But, with their recent actions, they've now definitely raised serious questions. And, a quick look around Twitter shows that I'm not alone in asking this question. Almost everyone talking about this new service is asking why should we trust it not to be shut down. Google may have thought they were just killing off one product, but the ripple effects from shutting down Google Reader continue to spread.

I have discovered Windows Live Writer. I can put stuff in and click. Bang! It is on my blog. I am testing now and if it works I will post a lot more stuff than I do now.

Part of my problem is I do not type well and Live writer seems to be able to correct my mistakes as I go.

Wrong about that, I just saw a couple of spelling XXX and had to do it the old fashioned way. Oh well.

I am hoping to get a few more of these to add to the adsense study soon. But they are hard to find. No one seems to be into renewable energy these days. I guess big Al Gore kind of sucked the life out of it with the revelation of how many millions he has picked up flying around the county lecturing.

It seems like he is saying we should all sit in the dark and wear coats indoors, so he can show the way. Way to go Al. I have decided to turn up my thermostat to 74 degrees and be comfortable. To Hell with saving energy.

I have been following a series of articles on this site HERE about a guy who decided to run his 2006 F 350 on McDonald's cooking oil.

The writer describes what he did and what some of the mechanics he dealt with did. It is interesting to me (and maybe you) because you sense that he knows what he is doing. In fact he does know!

So far there are three parts, he does not enjoy typing and quits when he has dealt with a problem.

You can tell he is far from finished so I just follow along. It is a little difficult becuase he does not have any fixed schedule. You have to look every once in a while to see if there is anything new.

I have a feeling the good stuff along with his conclusions is getting close. Maybe 2 or three more sprints and it will be done. I am thinking of asking if I can publish it here as one complete story.

So far I have not been able to get it to go on chrome and would like to. I think I had it running once a long time ago but things have changed since then.

I am now going to tell you the name of the add-on, it is Zemanta.

I will link a couple of articles here telling how good it worked 3 years ago.

Imagine this: Jack Layton's NDP is now in 2nd place. Harper has been banging away on I'mnotgoodenough and now has started on Layton.

Layton runs out a series of TV and Radio commercials with crowds singing the "All We Are Saying is Give Jack a Chance" song. I believe it could go Viral at a critical time during the campaign.

The timing has to be perfect. It has to go now so Harper's Conservatives will not have time to counteract. Once it has been out for a couple of days, played over and over, everyone will be thinking "All We Are Saying is Give Jack a Chance" when they go to the polling station.

One thing you can count on is that if Mr Harper decides to do another one of his little piano playing ditties he will not be singing this song.

Maybe it would put Mr Layton over the top. He could then do a Trump - saying "you're fired" to Mr Harper who is probably the most dishonest politician in Canada's history.

You can hear it in your mind now!! It will stay there, playing over and over. It will be commentrd on and passed around. DO IT NOW!!

I have been reading about the latest thing that people in the know are using to increase their strength and performance. Some say it cures disease and helps maintain erections. Women have been reporting giant organisms when the man has it in his mouth during sex.

I don't know about these claims they may be true, but it sounds like BS to me. I did some searching in a couple of 2nd hand stores and got an idea about how they work. Now you might think it is a Placebo affect and could be right.

I discovered that it was a simple thing to build and decided to make and test my own "do it yourself valence". Once I had it ready to go I dropped it in my pocket and went out to test it. Where did I go? I was looking to see if the balancing effect worked so I went where I figured I could find some people who would be a little "off balance". No not the Giggle Factory, I went to a local bar.

I asked a couple of guys who looked a little bit tippy if they would help me test and they said "sure. if I would buy them a beer". I decided to set up a bit of a demo in front of the whole bar crowd and asked if I could use the empty dance floor.

"No problem", so I got my 2 volunteers and a third person who insisted on joining in. We where on the floor and by now had the attention of the whole place. I asked the first man to do the one leg arms out test and he failed. I gave him my valance and we re-tested. He passed! I had to repeat the test once more for the unbelievers and then we moved on to the other 2 volunteers . The 2nd test had the same results and so did the 3rd one on a very attractive lady. She did not want to try the "giant Organism test" despite the fact that there where a couple of good looking guys willing to help out. So we did the tip test with her as well.

I put the valance back in my pocked and grabbed a beer. I was asked if I would make some more and said no. I think they figured the rig would help in roadside sobriety tests, maybe it would but I don't want to get
involved in that.

In the end and after some more beers it was decided that I would accept $10.00 donations and tell everybody how to make their own.

I am putting the same offer out on the net: $10.00 to my Pay-pal account and I will send complete instructions. It will take you less than 1/2 hour to make and the hardware is easy to get no matter where you live. It is small and light and can be made to be hung on a chain around your neck if you don't like to carry stuff in your pocket.

Of course I have to tell you that there is no way that I can guarantee it will work for everyone. But it did work for my 3 test subjects and I have given a lot of positive demo's since. So far there has been no reported "giant organisms" either but someone must be working on it somepalce. When it happens I am sure we will hear it.

I Was Looking At Recycling

Yes, I know it is hard to believe. I have been reading here and there about "there is more gold in a ton of electronics" than just about all gold mines.

Meaning a ton of gold bearing ore VS a ton of scrap computers, cell phones, etc. The electronics comes out on top. I can't remember the figures and am to lazy to look them up, but it is a huge difference.

OK, I looked it up and there is a lot of answers but it seems as if 1 ton of ore on average will give a mining company around 100 grams of gold. It is hard to believe that it is worth doing! Invest millions, even billions of dollars and get 100 grams for every ton of dirt you process.
Now the scrap boys do not need as big an investment (but still have a fair amount of $$ in the project) they have to buy, deliver, break up, and refine. The big difference is the scrap that is their "ore" yields around 1500 grams per ton! Fifteen times as much, and I am using low figures when I say this.

There is an article at the bottom of this about Claude Resources getting 39.43 grams per tonne and considering it newsworthy. I added it as an example - this is an "exciting" mining prospect.

What would you rather deal with? A mine with millions of dollars invested in equipment, employees, government bureaucracies, or a scrapyard that is clean and has a few people to pay and your "ore" is yielding 15 times as much?

How About Prospecting for Gold

Image via WikipediaI am going to throw in an article about gold prospecting today. This is in keeping with my generally crazy mix of subjects.

I have used this in another site so if yo want to read it in it's original place here is a link to Recreational Gold Panning.

A prospector likes to travel as light as possible. Even though this is the case there is one tool that should be at the top of your list. You should get the best 3 legged folding stool you can find. When you are panning out your samples it will save your back a lot of pain. You can set it up in the stream and sit down comfortably to do your cleanup. It will also serve you well when you stop for lunch or coffee. I put this at the #1 position on my list and I think if you get one you will thank me for this advise.

One of the most difficult tasks associated with gold deposits is the sampling, or prospecting. Many gold projects have failed due to inaccurate assessment on the potential value of the deposit than to any other reason. In order to perform the first estimation, the prospector must use appropriate prospecting tools. The main tools a prospector takes into the field are a pick, hammer, a shovel and a gold pan.

For his trip he should carry several different tools, but when he has arrived at the area he intends to scope out he uses basic tools such as a light prospecting pick, weighing no more than two kilos. This little pick is about 20 cm in length, with a handle about 35 cm long. The longer portion is sharpened into a pick, and the shorter ends in a square faced hammer. It is recommended a square sharp cornered face to the hammer in preference to the beveled face due to sharp edges and corners are better adapted for breaking rock than the rounded or beveled ends. I get mine at a welding supply shop, they are cheaper and I think they are better.

The prospecting pick or geological pick and hammer must be made of good steel with a handle of hickory or light steel. With these tools, the prospector goes into the field hunting for gold. Loose pieces of rock are broken with the hammer end, softer rocks in place he explores with the pick.

The key for recovering gold from gravel is the weight difference which allows gold to move downward during agitation. The simplest placer mining tool for this purpose is the pan. Shovel gravels into a screen positioned over the gold pan, shake the material on the screen and review the over-sized material for nuggets, then, shake it Baby! Agitation and patience are required to allow gold to settle to the bottom of the pan. Pick pebbles from the pan to get them out of the way. Look for heavy pieces with unusual color or shape. You might find a gold nugget or a gold-bearing piece of vein quartz. Hold the pan level with both hands and rotate the pan with swirling motions. As the pan is rotated, the heavier gold loosens from the sand and gravel and settles to the bottom. Tilt the pan downward to let the dirty water, and let the sand and gravel wash over the edge of the pan. Continue this process until all the gold and heavier minerals are at the bottom of the pan. Carefully inspect the black sand for nuggets or small particles of gold.

If you are planning to travel to an area that is far from home and will be staying there a while you may want to consider getting a diesel pickup truck and using biodiesel as fuel. It will save you a lot of cash and give you something to brag about around the campfire.

Have you read any of his works? Maybe you have missed something, take a look and get back to me with what you think.

How does this relate to hypertufa? I am not sure. Who said it had to? I am just filing space here so I can link to a couple of sites for some AdSense cash.

You know how that works. I put up a link like this one - Here is a great concrete and hypertufa site. You click it and when you arrive at the site you hit a couple of the Google adds there. I may get paid if it goes right.

Here is a link to a site about gold panning. When you get there you will probably see the adds I am talking about. The other thing this does is gets me links on my site. This is good.
I will some times ask the sites I link to from here to put a link back to me. This is called reciprocal linking and is also good.

See these adds to your left? From Amazon? If you click one and buy a book there I get 10% or something like that. It is no big huge pile of cash but there are guys who spend 8 hours a day putting up Blogs and web sites. They all have the adds and stuff on them and if someone clicks and buys, they get paid.

These guys have hundreds of site and keep track of every one of them. There are programs that allow a lot of the posting and stuff to be done with a few keystrokes so that it is almost automatic.

If you have 100 site and each one earns $10.00 a month (most established sites do this easily) you have $1000.00 coming in. After the initial setup it is supposed to be a fairly easy thing to do maintenance and add an article every 7 -10 days to keep the site "alive".

You can then devote most of your time to building new sites and getting them hooked up to the already running ones. I think you can see the potential now? It takes a certain kind of initiative to get at this every day but it pays off after about 8 - 12 months when you see the checks coming in the mail.

I see it's an hour there on the right-hand side waiting for me to put something in that it can work with. So far it doesn't have anything big is just sit there doing nothing. It says what he awakened for, get inspired. Well Mr. Zemanta not waiting for anything and I don't feel very inspired at this moment.

It just found something and it's happy so I'm not like a couple of maybe put in a picture where I can use more than one picture? It looks like it sees the word hand. And I'm going to sign off.

Okay let's see what they've got for us this time. I see we're back to not capitalizing the first sentence, it's strange and I can't figure out why it happens.

Through the ages men and women have cherished gold, and many have had a compelling desire to amass great quantities of it--so compelling a desire, in fact, that the frantic need to seek and hoard gold has been aptly named "gold fever."
Gold was among the first metals to be mined because it commonly occurs in its native form, that is, not combined with other elements, because it is beautiful and imperishable, and because exquisite objects can be made from it. Artisans of ancient civilizations used gold lavishly in decorating tombs and temples, and gold objects made more than 5,000 years ago have been found in Egypt.

Particularly noteworthy are the gold items discovered by Howard Carter and Lord Carnarvon in 1922 in the tomb of Tutankhamun. This young pharaoh ruled Egypt in the 14th century B.C. An exhibit of some of these items, called "Treasures of Tutankhamun," attracted more than 6 million visitors in six cities during a tour of the United States in 1977-1979.

The graves of nobles at the ancient Citadel of Mycenae near Nauplion, Greece, discovered by Heinrich Schliemann in 1876, yielded a great variety of gold figurines, masks, cups, diadems, and jewelry, plus hundreds of decorated beads and buttons. These elegant works of art were created by skilled craftsmen more than 3,500 years ago.

Image via WikipediaThis is going to be a short blog for me. I am using a link to a video that looks like a advert for a gold trommel.

It is a good looking machine but the video does not show how well it worked. Did they find any gold? I don't know the thing just ends.
It looks like 'trommel' means drum in German!

The picture is of a Trommel working sorting dirt in a small scale gold mine. It does not look small when you see all the machinery but compared to a small commercial setup it is not much. Almost a "Mom & Pop" deal.

Watch the video an drool. Would you love to have one of these and one of those little tow behind backhoes? The trouble is the permits and stuff you would need to use them would probably completely discourage you from ever getting started.

WikiLeaks cables: Saudi Arabia cannot pump enough oil to keep a lid on prices

US diplomat convinced by Saudi expert that reserves of world’s biggest oil exporter have been overstated by nearly 40%

The US fears that Saudi Arabia, the world’s largest crude oil exporter, may not have enough reserves to prevent oil prices escalating, confidential cables from its embassy in Riyadh show.

The cables, released by WikiLeaks, urge Washington to take seriously a warning from a senior Saudi government oil executive that the kingdom’s crude oil reserves may have been overstated by as much as 300bn barrels – nearly 40%.

The revelation comes as the oil price has soared in recent weeks to more than $100 a barrel on global demand and tensions in the Middle East. Many analysts expect that the Saudis and their Opec cartel partners would pump more oil if rising prices threatened to choke off demand.

However, Sadad al-Husseini, a geologist and former head of exploration at the Saudi oil monopoly Aramco, met the US consul general in Riyadh in November 2007 and told the US diplomat that Aramco’s 12.5m barrel-a-day capacity needed to keep a lid on prices could not be reached.

According to the cables, which date between 2007-09, Husseini said Saudi Arabia might reach an output of 12m barrels a day in 10 years but before then – possibly as early as 2012 – global oil production would have hit its highest point. This crunch point is known as “peak oil“.
