Japan seems to be more focused on the “cleaner” cars than many other auto producers. Their motor show could be considered a dream for anyone interested in seeing a wide array of green cars in one place.

For the most recent motor show, although not many foreign automakers attended, the Japanese automakers came out in force with cleaner, eco friendlier cars that will most likely soon become the standard for cars rather than another type.

The hybrids are not only more environmentally friendly, but also have more miles per gallon, like the Toyota Sai, which will be going on sale in Japan in December.

There is also the line of electric cars that were on display at the show as well. Toyota also had a Prius Plug-In Hybrid on display that contains lithium-ion batteries.

Other concept cars like the Honda EV-N have a solar roof which in turn charges motor which is battery-powered.

The cleaner car trend is becoming cooler because the look of the cars is sleek, trendy and lovely to look at and it does not hurt that some of the more well known brands like Toyota and Nissan are responsible for these creations. Green is in, they understand this and they are moving with the times rather than standing still.

According to the official statics over one billion people drink water that is not exactly pure and the risk of diseases and viruses increases dramatically. The NGO Water Aid launched even more stressful facts – 1.2 million children are dying every year due to illnesses, caused by dirty water.

The researchers are trying their best to find a way to purify the water with improved techniques, but the question is – when this new technique will be delivered to the poorest countries, where the water is without any sanitation?

The answer of this question is clear and anyone knows that the third world countries are going to face even more problems due to bad conditions and water, filled with bacteria and diseases.

There is only one hope and a cure, which might actually solve the problem. An old Indian method for purifying the water is the low-cost decision, stated by the experts. Indians have been using the Moringa Oleifera, a tree that has the natural ability to do water sanitation. According to Canadian researchers the usage of this plant is going to reduce over 90 percent of the bad bacteria in the water.

The plant is growing near water and it is one of the oldest ways for water sanitation, given by the nature. This simple and low-cost nature technique will be spread around the areas with water problems. That isn’t general solution of the problem with unclean water, but is the most simple and easiest way to prevent death caused by diseases from infected waters.

Here is the visual graphic & data behind the latest battle over climate change.

As far from the truth as it may seem, the climate changes including the melting of the icecaps from the Earth’s poles can actually be caused by a certain pattern that is actually ruling the history of the planet.

(Click on the Image for Full View.)

A compared study conducted by UK Met Hadley Center on the arctic ice has concluded that the increase and decrease in the arctic surface is the result of a pattern in the Earth’s climate history which from time to time is aligning to bring significant modifications in the climate bringing changes for everything connected with it.

After analyzing the theory that the human kind is ultimately responsible, through the environmental damage it causes, for the way the climate reacts this past century and comparing it to this study that proves how a periodicity in the life of the planet can actually influence its future climate, we can only rethink our opinion about the climate changes.

Alternative power is slowly being adapted in our society today. People are becoming more aware of the dangers traditional fossil fuels pose against the environment.

Slowly, each of us is starting to become more aware of the contributions we can do in order to lessen our dependency on these kinds of fuels. More people are turning to the idea of using alternative power to make everyday living a possibility.

Studies show that alternative power is a high and probably replacement for traditional fuels, but the technology in which to harness them at mass scale need to be improved.

In general, the term alternative power refers to the independence from traditional fuels using other sources available that is natural and safe for the environment.

The advantage of using alternative power against traditional fuels makes it more favorable than the latter. Alternative power does well for the environment since its very concept is based on the concept of renewable energy.

It can be stored and collects energy not in excess of what is needed. Sources for alternative power does not deplete as compared to its traditional fuel counterparts.

The process in which it generates power for use of millions of individuals concerned does not release harmful contaminants that put the environment in danger at any point.

With advantages come some disadvantages as well. Not everything good has its upsides all the time.

Alternative power is very ideal for the demand of a more environmental atmosphere, but its disadvantages lie in the cost of actually putting up the facilities to harness these energies to service millions of people. This is probably the reason why a lot of companies do not want to shift to such alternatives.

It is good to know the different kinds of alternative power sources available.

To understand them gives us a ballpark view of multiple reasons for us to actually consider these alternative power sources. Here are the different sources of power we can enjoy other than traditional fuels:

1. Solar Energy

This alternative power source harnesses sunlight that is collected by solar pans and eventually stored in solar batteries.

Protons from the sun activate electrons that convert this into electricity that can be used to supply energy. This type of energy can be utilized wherever you are as long as there is sun.

2. Wind Energy

Wind is a natural resource that can be used to generate energy. It is a natural source that does not deplete whenever it is used since our planet always supplies us with wind.

This alternative power source derives its energy from the utilization of windmills that are placed in strategically thought of areas to collect maximum supply of wind.

3. Geothermal Energy

The planet in which we live in is a huge mass of energy all together. Deep within its crust and located at the core is heat energy waiting to be released into the atmosphere. This alternative power source utilizes that heat to produce energy in massive quantities.

As a responsible citizen, try to learn more about these alternative power sources that can benefit everyone involved.

It is through awareness and proper education regarding these alternatives that we can spread its advantages and benefits to others who are not knowledgeable about it.

The idea of creating an eco mower turns to be useful for everyone that embraces the green life style. A brand new Eco mower burns propane and it is made with an internal combusting engine. Since propane is naturally gaseous at air pressure; the mower eliminated the inefficiency of the carburetor and doesn’t need to turn liquid gasoline in a vaporized form.

According to the producers of the Eco mower, the usage of this brand new device reduces greenhouse emissions down to 26 percent, as well as the bad carbon monoxide. For those of you that think green, the eco mower is able to reduce 60 percent of the bad carbon emissions.

Hence the basic fuel of the mower is propane; you will not have to face greasy buildup and flooded engines that often happen with mowers, powered by gasoline. The new mower doesn’t produce any carcinogens. The bonus isn’t only because this mower is green; it mows for nearly 90 minutes, which is 40 percent longer than a standard mower.

The United States consumes gross amounts of food every year. And the United States wastes even more disgusting amounts of food every year.

The United States is a much more wasteful country than any other country in the world.

Every day the average person in the United States generates 4.5 pounds of trash. That is every day not every year. 4.5 pounds of trash every day for each individual person results in disposing of at least 1.5 tons of solid waste every single year.

Do the math when you think about how many people there are in every single city and town, in every single state in the United States.

The sad fact is that even though the Environmental Protection Agency guesses that at least 75 percent of this waste is recyclable, but only a very small portion of it is attempted to recycle. Americans only attempt to recycle 30 percent of the 75 percent of the 1.5 tons of solid waste per year that is recyclable.

Mass amounts of this solid waste are food. For example, people in the United States generate 21.5 million tons of food waste every single year.

Never mind wasting less but if this food is composted instead of sending this huge amount of waste to landfills, greenhouse emissions can be reduced greatly.

In fact, if the food waste is composted instead of sending to landfills, it would help reduce greenhouse gas emissions equivalent to taking two million cars off the road.

Those are huge numbers that can be reduced if it is just composted. Never mind too much food is wasted; too much food is made, too much food is ordered at restaurants food and groceries are not conserved.

There are some composting companies in certain cities around the country that process mass quantities of food waste every day. Some of these composting companies actually are able to process nearly 350 to 400 tons of food waste and including some yard waste every day. This waste is then composted and recycled into nutrient rich soil materials that are then used for landscaping and even some agricultural activities.

Individuals have absolutely no excuse to not start composting their solid food waste today. Businesses can start composting their leftover food waste as well. In fact, there are food diversion programs some businesses are implementing across the United States that are recovering up to 50 to 75 percent of their food discards.

Oftentimes we don’t realize how much plastic we use and dispose of in our daily lives, not knowing how much we contribute to polluting the environment.

Thankfully, there is increased awareness for the use of green bags, which are also known as reusable shopping bags. Green bags are the answer to the plastic bags we use every day, which we can use several times over.

Why we should start using green bags instead of plastic bags?

Plastic bags are extremely harmful to the environment, because they take millions of years to decompose. This leaves them sitting around in landfills and trash disposals, and sometimes people have to resort to getting rid of this trash by burning it, therefore emitting toxins into the ozone.

The production of plastic bags involves carbon dioxide, which is one of the major toxic chemicals that destroy our ozone.

The production of plastic bags also involves the use of large amounts of oil and gas, which can be used in other beneficial means such as cooking and heating.

Unlike green bags, plastic bags are harmful to the environment when it comes to production and are very weak products when it comes to carrying goods, just one or two times’ use and they are ready to break.

Plastic bags, unlike green bags, are also very detrimental to the environment. Research has shown that thousands of marine mammals die every year because careless people toss their plastic bags where it ends up in the ocean, consumed by fish, which will cause them death.

Here are the other benefits of using green bags:

Green bags come in a variety of designs and sizes, and can also come in very fashionable designs. These are the bags we should take with us whenever we do the groceries or shopping, to avoid the careless building up of plastics in our home.

They are much better because they are made of various materials such as canvas, fibers, and other strong types of fabric that allow them to be used many times over.

The next time you’re at the grocery, don’t be fooled into thinking that using their available paper bags instead of plastic would be a better alternative. Green bags are still better, because paper bags have their own set of environmental problems. Thousands of trees need to be cut down in order to produce paper bags, which are also sometimes known as brown bags.

It’s easy to keep them at home in store with your other clothing goods. They are strong and durable so we do not litter or throw them away, where they can potentially end up in landfills or consumed by animals.

Green bags are very easy to find, and are also very affordable. If you are also buying a lot, think of the hassle that you have to go through carrying several different shopping bags when you can only be carrying one or two efficient green bags.
