This year’s edition of the MTV VMAs went down at The Forum in Inglewood, California. The event was filled with performances, some spectacular and some absolute duds. Even at best online casinos, some games are better than others.

None other than Kendrick Lamar opened the showing with an electric performance of hit songs “DNA” and “Humble” off of the Billboard number one-charting album DAMN. The hearty display of human expression brought fans to their feet quickly and many easily regarded it as the best act of the night. P!nk graced the stage as well with a memorable performance of “Get the Party Started” and “Raise Your Glass” in a car floated above the attendees. She wasn’t done yet for the night, “Just Give Me a Reason” lit the stage and added another layer of nostalgic fun. The screams and cheers of the fans clearly gave P!nk more energy to continue giving it all. The hits “Don’t Let Me Get Me” and “Perfect” were included before signing off with her the current single, “What About Us”. P!nk was this year’s Michael Jackson Vanguard Award recipient and gave a emotionally-driven speech for a cherry on top.

In addition, Fifth Harmony was absolutely amazing in front of millions and their melodic voices blended beautifully. The powerful group ran through their songs “Angel” and “Down,” featuring a bit of on-stage rain to add to the ambiance. The awards host Katy Perry didn’t just do the hosting, she also gave the crowd something to dance in a celebration manner to making bank at a real money pokies. The performance with Nicki Minaj was proven to be absolutely superb and the crowd couldn’t stop being noisy. Apart the above, viewers were also graced by legendary Rod Stewart, Miley Cyrus, Logic, Khalid, DNCE, Demi Lovato, Ed Sheeran, 30 Seconds to Mars, Lorde and others.

Best songs, albums, and videos of course were honored during the event. The leading nominee, Kendrick Lamar, scooped 6 awards including the big one “Video of the Year” award out of 8 nominated categories. Ed Sheeran took home “Artist of the Year” award while Zayn and Taylor Swift scooped “Best Collaboration”. Other lucky award winners that topped off wins for the night were Khalid, Kanye West, Fifth Harmony, Twenty One Pilots, and Logic, giving yet another award show for the books.

"She Don't Know Me" stands out from the pack for the singer's choppy style of delivering his lyrics. The Atlantic Records signee is only 21 years old and handling this ongoing stylistic direction with a profound sense of hype. Even recently the talent has announced a few writing sessions in LA with the likes of Ty Dolla Sign, Poo Bear, and others.

On the song, Mullally had to say:

“The meaning behind the song is the slight acknowledgment of someone’s presence but the total dismissal of their importance. It’s about having someone in your life that champions all others. It’s the energy, the connection and the relationship dynamism that plays between these 3 people. It’s saying that no one really compares”

It's a new dawn for Nashville-based pop light Anna Mae as she set her career forward. "Call Girl" is the debut single and it delves into modern day territory not often tapped into in everyday conversation.

Technology has the power to connect people in a sense, but in another, it can dilute what it means to make rational, human decisions. "Call Girl" is aimed to inspire people to get out from behind social media and actually go get what you want face to face.

A debut EP is on the way very soon so surely keep that at the back of your thoughts. We had the chance to jump inside the mind of the singer and see the world through her eyes for a second:

How was the process of "Call Girl" coming to fruition?

The initial idea started last summer as I was driving from Nashville to where I grew up in Minnesota (I’m such a fan of summer road trips.) I was about to take a nap while my friend was driving and the title “Call Girl” popped into my head. We were listening to the Tori Kelly album right then and I absolutely love the confidence she writes into her music. So after I got the title I just wondered how it could be spun into a song that actually is about worth and takes a modern spin on the old term. A few weeks later I had my first write with this incredible writer and producer in town named Kipp Williams. He was so awesome and encouraging. I felt like I could bring in my idea to him and so we wrote Call Girl in that first session together!

It sounds like a random group of things when I list them out but they are all things I’m super passionate about. I could sit and write page after page on how much I love each of those topics and why. Overall, these things tend to make me feel a lot of emotions and it always seems that my reaction to having these emotions is creating music or visuals for my music with them.

If you could give your younger self advice what would it be?

And while messing up or being unproductive can feel like a such waste of time, it’s actually all just a part of the journey. So work hard, but let yourself relax in the process and just enjoy the stage you’re at.

What's a personal motto you live by?

Don’t compare yourself with other people, as if some people are better and others worse. We have far more interesting things to do with our lives. Each of us is an original.

When you listen to standout pop songwriter Harloe's music you can't help but think she has absolutely everything put together here.

A track like "More Than Ever" has clear cut production, powerhouse vocal abilities, and turns instrumentally that feel like a breathe of fresh air. The relationship centered track serves as a follow-up to the striking “All in My Feelings” released months ago.

The Liquid Truth EP is surely one to keep your eyes peeled for as this star is no stranger to being an expert songwriter with past credits including names like Nick Jonas and Charli XCX.

To get in a true artist's mind, we had the beautiful opportunity to ask the singer a few personal questions:

How do you approach songwriting when it comes to yourself versus for other artists?

Well, they go hand-in-hand, but they do have their differences. When I write for myself, I try to get in touch with what I want to say and it’s a bit easier. I don’t have to filter writing for myself and I get to go really deep. For another artist, it’s a little harder. I have to try and get into their head, feel what they are feeling, and then try to translate it into the lyrics. Writing through another artist’s lens really gets the creativity flowing, and it’s fun to see collaborate and see how they view the world.

What do you hope your listeners get out of the "Liquid Truth" EP?

I hope that the songs are relatable and feel real to them. These were real emotions and feelings that I’ve felt in the past year about relationships and life in general. I hope that if someone is feeling a similar way, these songs can be an outlet or a release for them.

I want my fans to feel like they can be honest and be a little more truthful with themselves when they listen to the music. Love is one of the most powerful things out there but it’s also one of the most complicated, and I hope the music can help them sort out how they feel about their own situations. There’s a song for everyone on this EP, which is something I most proud of. You can have a blast or you can cry - get all in your feelings about it.

What was the expectation vs reality when you first began working with Evan “Kidd” Bogart and Eman Kiriakou?

You would think that that since they’ve had tons of hits they would be stubborn and controlling about sound, but the interesting thing about this EP is that they supported me 100% when I said I wanted to produce it. The reality is, they’re really understanding and open creatively about the music.

Sticky Note Confessions: What's your weirdest talent?

I do a mean Toni Braxton impression and that’s about as weird as it gets for me.

What's a personal motto you live by?

I think that everything happens for a reason. Sometime you don’t know what the reason is for a long time, but it all works out and makes sense in the end. Eventually you end up in the place you were meant to be.

What do you hope for in the future?

For me - I hope I can continue to work at being my most authentic self and making the most real music that I can. I also hope to keep having fun while I do it, because what’s the point if you’re not enjoying yourself.

For the world - I hope that day by day we can get to a place of acceptance and just love each other more. I think that’s sort of the root of everything. I hope that day by day we can build more compassion for one another. I think music can be a big part of that change, and I hope that I can contribute to that in any way.

A pop song about lost love is absolutely one of the top subject matter choices widespreat. Andrew Garcia, known for appearing on American Idol's Season 9 and running a successful cover YouTube channel, adds a little flavor to the common theme.

"Cry," from the upcoming EP Love Wounds, puts Garcia's vocal character on display. On the track, the singer told Hollywood Life:

"'Cry' is about being vulnerable and living through your heartbreak. I wasn’t afraid to show my emotional side on this song, because that’s how the chords spoke to me. It’s rare to have a guy admit that he cried over a girl, especially in this day and age! It’s a pop/soul record — the vocals are big. I hope you can hear my pain, but at the same time feel liberation in my voice, like it’s okay to move on. I was there through the ups and downs, I helped her weather the storms and wiped all her tears, but when it ended, I was the only one left crying. I want to let anyone listening to know it’s okay to feel this way!"
