Following the overwhelming success of their evening-restaurant which opened its doors in August 2015, the Brasserie Ambassade team are delighted to inform us that they are now serving Lunch every weekend – that’s Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 12pm until 3pm.

There is something for everyone on the lunch menu, whether it’s a hearty sandwich or a full 3 course meal. For example, enjoy a freshly baked baguette with home-smoked salmon, onions, little gem lettuce, crème fraiche and capers. Also on the menu is a half dozen Dutch oysters from Zeeland and a seasonal risotto with seasonal vegetables. Take a look at the full lunch menu here.

Fresh from a recent trip to Kyrgyzstan along the route of the old Silk Road, Marianne of Amsterdam’s Shirdak Gallery, has lots of new Shyrdak felt rugs in store to delight us all.

A Shyrdak is the traditional Kyrgyz rug made with thick patterned felt usually in a rectangular shape. Different pieces of coloured felt are arranged in patterns of traditional shapes and symbols which are inspired by nature.

Each Shyrdak is made by hand using ancient skills that are inextricably linked to the nomadic way of life. It is a slow labour-intensive and physically demanding art. The entire process from dying the wool to felting, cutting and sewing is all done by hand using natural methods, skills and techniques that have been handed down through the generations. The felt is made from sheep’s wool, the main livestock of the nomadic Kyrgyz people.
