The event also saw active participation from senior district agriculture development officers from Lalitpur, Bhaktapur, and Kathmandu as well as the Crop Development Directorate of Nepal and the Seed Quality Control Center.</p>
<p>After a brief introduction, the farmers were led on a field tour by Maiya Maharjan Saligram, the head of the Loktantrik Integrated Pest Management Group in Changathali. Here they were shown the wheat plots and given detailed information about the characteristics of each variety, such as maturity class, yield potential, and disease resistance. (...)</p>

<p>Gebrselassie overnight could only finish seventh in the 10,000 metres in an event in the Dutch city of Hengelo which Ethiopia was using as a qualifier for the Olympics.</p>
<p>The 39-year-old two-time Olympic 10,000m champion &#8211; who had already failed to post a qualifying time for the marathon &#8211; admitted his hopes had been dashed after his disappointing performance against 12 of his compatriots. (...)</p>

In this post we look at how the day was marked by Palestinians on blogs and Twitter this year. </p>
<p>&#8220;Nakba&#8221; means &#8220;catastrophe&#8221;, and refers to the process of mass expulsion of Palestinians from their <a href="http://electronicintifada.net/blog/ali-abunimah/interactive-map-palestine-villages-destroyed-nakba">villages</a> by Israeli forces <a href="http://blog.thejerusalemfund.org/2012/05/top-10-facts-you-probably-didnt-know.html">both before and after</a> Israel declared itself a state in 1948, creating a large Palestinian diaspora around the world.</p> (...)

A majority of South Korean net users expressed support for the newly implemented law. There were also public requests for harsher punishments for a wider range of sex criminals, and a hint of disappointment with current law enforcement, which many define as &#8216;generous to sex criminals with excuses&#39;.</p>
<p>A sex offender and pedophile who raped kids under the age of 10, known by the surname Park, <a href="http://blogs.wsj.com/korearealtime/2012/05/23/sks-first-chemical-castration-of-a-pedophile/">would be the nation&#39;s first case</a> to receive the castration punishment. (...)</p>

<p>The state Commissioner for Finance, Alhaji Lawal Jari, announced this on Wednesday in Katsina after the State&#8217;s Executive Council meeting. At one  point, divisions within the Community Association threatened the project  and leaders called Pastor Francisco to help mediate a resolution. On  May 8, members of El Ranchador, the Community Association, the mayor,  and ENLACE staff celebrated the bridge which not only provides safe  passage, but also represents a bridge of restored relationships. <p>There&#8217;s obviously a long wish-list built up over the last six months or so &#8211; as well as Sustainable Development Goals, there&#8217;s changes to the global governance of climate issues, the UN Secretary Genera&#8217;s Energy For All initiative, and a host of proposals from NGOs and others. <p>The United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD) is 
being organized in pursuance of General Assembly Resolution 64/236 (<a href="http://www.uncsd2012.org/files/OD/ARES64236E.pdf">A/RES/64/236</a>),
 and will take place in Brazil on 20-22 June 2012 to mark the 20th

<p>Speaking after field visits to Rulindo and Musanze districts, Dr Tiemoko YO, Chairman of FARA, noted that Rwandan farmers have success stories worth learning from.</p>
<p>&#8220;The two projects we visited are successful and this shows that farmers have benefited from the different projects such as the orange -fleshed sweet potato which are supported by FARA. (...)</p>

<p>Rwanda is the second sub-Saharan nation to have such an agreement with the WFP after Tanzania. This agreement will give Rwandan maize and bean farmers extra incentive as they now have a ready market for their produce.</p> (...)

<p>The Kibaha Research Institute Plant Breeder &#8212; Root Crops, Dr Kiddo Mtunda, told the &#8216;Daily News&#8217; in an exclusive interview on Wednesday that two varieties are of the orange potato family while three are cream potatoes, being researched on by the Lake Victoria zonal institute.</p>
<p>&#8220;The research is at the national performance trial stage which is the final stage and we hope these varieties will start being used by early next year,&#8221; she said. (...)</p>
