My Happy Valentines

Two years back… Valentines day. It is the most memorable valentines day so far.. To make this day exciting, I didn’t plan it. The only thing I had in my mind was to be with her for the whole day. So I picked her at 11 in morning. Then we went for shopping. I gifted her a dress and a ring. She gifted me a Cowboy hat. I look like a joker wearing that. I accepted it and was on my head. Just for her. I felt as if I am Clint Eastwood in The Good, The Bad and The Ugly.

It was lunch time when we finished our shopping. Few minutes later, we were in her favorite Restaurant. She ordered some continental dish. I am not a foodie. So I forget the dish names. Whatever it was, it tasted quite good.

After lunch, we went for a movie. At that time they were screening Definitely maybe. It’s still my favorite movie in Romance genre. Just outside the multiplex, there was a beach. We started walking on footpath. I saw a woman selling lovely teddy bears. She loved Teddy’s. I asked her to pick one. Then my hands went for wallet. What the heck!! Only cards and no cash. Quickly realized about cash advance feature of my card. Collected some cash from an ATM on other side of road. The smile on her innocent face was priceless. Best thing happened on that memorable day.

Though it was my best valentines day, I would like to tell you one thing. Never fear to express your love and don’t wait for valentines day.

The Definition Of Night

It’s almost 11 pm and I was about to enter my room. Just then I thought of looking up in the sky. Wanted to check if the moon was still there. This curiosity was due to lunar eclipse held on 1st January. The moon was not there (Did Rahu swallowed it for real?). I tried searching the sky from back and sides of my house. It was nowhere. Darkness was trying to conquer the whole world. The fluctuating street lamp was fighting like a brave injured soldier.

Within seconds, I started traveling back in time. Why for sudden I was back in time? Curiosity increased as my flashbacks rendered an incident when I was five years old. I am in my bed aside my parents and sister. It’s dark and my father just switched off radio. Few minutes later, cats started fighting on the roof making strange sounds. Their meow was now meOOOOOOOOwwww. Fear was dominating emotion. My parents convinced me that cats won’t hurt me. I closed my eyes and never knew when I was covered by blanket of sleep. At that age, Night meant fear for me.

Now I am ten years old. I am naughty and mischievous child busy in playing and planning mischief. I made good friends in school and was enjoying every bit of time. Time was insufficient for my activities. I don’t want to sleep. Night, at that stage, was a big spoilsport.

A few years later, I am in higher secondary. I was just getting serious about my studies. A time when I was surrounded by the mystery of chemistry. I was fighting with chemistry and it’s allies during the night time. Night meant a teacher who was teaching me how to fight.

Now I am in my most beautiful days of my life. Yes the college days. Bunking lectures, chit-chatting, making fun of one another, GMgiri and what not. In between all these, there was study and assignments. Time was insufficient once again. Copying journals, tracing drawings, completing notes was the job during the night. Night was a savior.

Out of the college, I am on a job. Life started teaching what life is. I was making new friends. But the fun that was in my college days, disappeared. Whole day it was work and work and work. Night was the only time for enjoyment. Night meant joy now.

Here I am in my present on a different job. Lost somewhere and trying to find my path. Sometimes, I loose my confidence for not finding this path in the mist of emotions, attachments, failures. Hope is everything I have and it’s a part of my soul.

Things change drastically with time.
The Night which meant fear for me
The Night which was a big spoilsport
The Night which meant a teacher
The Night which was a savior
The Night which meant joy changed it’s definition again.
Night is now just a part of the day.

Till you find your definition of night…

Footprints

Have you ever walked over sand? Then, have you noticed the footprints behind you? They are not just footprints. They are silent teachers. You have to be a good student for them to be your teacher. Don’t recall your mark sheets… I know they are best suited lying dead in that folder and locked in a locker. They don’t say a thing about how good student you are. Just try to listen and read the footprints. You’ll be proud being a good student.

So what do they teach you? When you look behind you’ll notice that some footprints have faded. Those footprints is you, some moments back. That tells you, time will never let you be the same person. That’s why, You never meet the same person again. It becomes difficult to find yourself, what you were in your past. Add to it our memories, which too tend to fade with time.

They teach us to find happiness in small things and that your low time will be over soon. Just as they fade as the time passes. Be careful and be true to your conscience as someone else may be stepping over your footprints and following the same path as you.

You’ll never be alone all the time when you walk. There will be a stage where the path will be full of footprints. So much so that you won’t be able to clearly distinguish between them. You won’t be able to see your path. You are lost. This is the stage when you have to discover yourself and discover your path. Find a way out of these chaos. Create your own path.

While you walk, there will be footprints which may act as a guide. Trust yourself. Trust your instincts. Walk with those footprints to find whether they are guiding you or misguiding you. But remember, A guide can only show you the path. He will never teach you how to walk.

Throughout the journey, you’ll find few who will leave footprint on your heart (Don’t worry. They won’t be stepping on your heart). Never ever let these footprints fade away. Then, Even if you are walking alone, you won’t be alone.

Till the footprints become your teacher

The Naked Dog

A typical day and a typical Indian street. I am walking from my home on the way to my office(Site office to be precise). Luckily for me, My office is just at a walkable distance. That’s probably 5-6 minutes. On this typical day I find changes. It’s November and rain is over(It’s not. Thanks to Phyan). This is the time when the road sides are occupied by shrubs or small plants. Municipality sends a person with Grass cutter. It’ll be a miracle if they do their job complete. So they leave whatever they cut on the road. No need to clean. I find a cat eating some leaves from the left over.

Moving ahead there is a spring which is there for years. The area I live is known by the name of that spring(Springs do have a name). Earlier locals used to drink water from this but now you only find outsiders taking bath and doing their stuff there. A gutter goes by the side of this spring.(I already said it’s a typical Indian street.) There is an open space aside of this spring where some cars are parked. And this place is also the hangout of the street dogs. Between all the dogs I find a dog without hairs. Some kind of disease which makes dog naked.

November month marks the start of mating season. You’ll find dogs doing that thing openly, as if we don’t exist. This poor naked fella finds it difficult to move into the club of the dogs. He is separate from others keeping safe distance, with fear in his eyes and his tail down inside between the back legs. At that moment I thought we are also dogs and not monkeys. A person with physical abnormalities will stay away from the crowd. Just like that naked dog.

A couple of month back, I saw a similar dog. This one was a pet dog. There was a hut giving shelter to a family of labor. This dog was their pet. Unless you are from PETA or a die-hard dog lover(I doubt about them too), no one cares about these dogs. No one want’s to keep them as pets. This dog started barking when I came close to the hut alarming that labor. I found this a bit strange. This is no different dog if it had some hairs on it. He does his job even without hairs, even if the ones with hairs keep him distant. I quite liked this quality and wonder if this exists in us. Does it??

I hope that such dogs end up finding a mate.

P.S.: It’s complete coincidence that this post is also related to hair. I realized it at the end. Please don’t conclude that I write only about hairs or I am bald.

The First White Hair

Two years back, while I was trying to comb my hair I found the first white hair. At first I thought it’s just a reflection of light from behind. But some days later my sis pointed some white hairs back of my head. I was like… Oh $#@t!!! I am getting older. It was the same time when I just started blogging. I don’t know why I didn’t blog about this.

First white hair is sort of turning point in your life. Often we relate it to experience. Your experience is directly proportional to the amount of white hairs on your head(What about the ones who are bald??). That’s why they say “These white hairs have seen a lot more things than you have.” Try to imagine a character artist saying this line. Becomes more effective. I have been involved in many conversations where this sentence struck.

The sad part of this story is that white hairs are on the verge of extinct. Hair dyes or Hair colors have changed this era. If you find someone with colored hair than he got white hairs(Most probably. I use these two words to save my life). A couple of months back my cousin brother colored his hair with white color. Not all but just the front part. I asked him why?? He said, “Everyone’s is coloring with brown, orange, pink and white is getting extinct. This is to save the whites and to get a different look among others.” True said. The only person with white hair I remember is Mr. Amitabh Bacchan with his white beard. Even the mothers in TV serials now don’t have white hairs. It’s difficult to differentiate who is mother and who is wife if you watch the serial for the first time.

I find it easy to bond and have conversation with white haired persons than youngsters of my age group. Maybe it’s because we are like haired, as in “like skinned” or “like religion”. Kind of Birds of the same feather flock together. They got a lot of experience and I have a big appetite for life experiences. I listen when they talk. Though on the verge of extinction, these white hairs can be found in places called old age homes. I am glad that at least someone is saving the white hairs.

When Superheroes Retired

This post is inspired from my previous post. A part of this originates from the movie Incredibles. You decide whether to call this plagiarism or improvisation(what’s that???). If you haven’t seen that movie then you may also think that the director lifted my idea to make his film. I am leaving this up to you to make your brain think for a while and get some exercise else it would rust lying idle there.

99% of you must have figured out by now that I’ll be talking about superheroes. These are peoples just like you and me but having weird dressing sense. I actually call them superheroes because no one else can wear their dresses. Who will wear an underwear above his pants? Who will wear capes which may get stuck and out you into trouble? My shirt gets stuck to latches, corner of table, nails and such sharp or pointed things(May be I am a bit careless). Imagine how they must be handling it.

Superheroes were born to fight against crime and save the cities or the whole world from evil things. Just for a second, try to recall a person who fights against crime or is trying to deliver justice. You’ll notice that he faces a lot of criticism and actually people are against him. Similar thing is about superheroes. It’s even said that they create their own troubles and then solve those so that everyone calls them superheroes. So much for bring super.

When the things became unbearable, these superheroes hibernated. That’s why I\You don’t see anyone flying in the skying wearing capes. (Hmmmm… Superheroes who can fly wear capes). No one leaving webs behind as a sign of his existence. Less work for the cleaning authority. One common thing in all these superheroes is that they all originate in US.(Almost all) One day while walking down the streets I found this superhero in McDonald’s.

He was wearing like a normal guy(with a belly). You can check my previous post to see how he looked like.
I: Hi Man!! Howzz life going?

Man: Going great. Actually enjoying it.

I: How can you when the world needs you. Crime rate has increased exponentially and you are here eating burgers? Don’t you have any responsibilities? Don’t you remember the phrase “With power comes responsibility”?

Man: Yeah Yeah… Government is taking care of it. I am paying taxes to fight against crime. Besides, the public reaction for government is the same when I was fighting against the crime. It doesn’t make much difference. Why should I ruin my life?

I: Seriously tell me. Are you happy?

Man: Of course. Why shouldn’t I? Now there is no one making fun of me due to my dressing sense. If they do they are making fun of themselves as I look like them. I got friends now instead of fans(pointing to a group of big bellied peoples). I get to eat burgers and pizzas which is the best food in whole universe. Add to it a beer can. I don’t have to live two lives as now I have only one life to live. No more Multiple Personality Disorder. Anymore reasons you want?

I: (Shocked and stunned)…

Man: Now if you excuse I got a party to enjoy.

I pinched myself to make sure I was not dreaming.
