We have so much going on within the next few weeks that I had to actually break out my calendar! My post it notes just aren't working!

Today I painted a few goodies that I just may add to my Etsy shop. I'm excited that I was able to get a couple of small projects done. I have so many more that I want to do, but this is what we have coming up...

* A D.A.R.E. Graduation program for my daughter.

* An awards ceremony for our son.

* Early release for the kiddos

* No school for the kiddos... Memorial Day. Super happy!

* A trip to the water park for our daughter (have to gather everything she needs).

* An awards ceremony for our daughter.

* A class party for our daughter.

* Last day of school on June 1st! So excited!

* I have to help my family prepare for an Estate Sale which is going to be super emotional for me.

* Father's Day! Gotta get them presents done!

* Going out of town to visit my grandparents.

Throw in a couple of doctor visits and we're set!

Happy Mother's Day!! {The Best Mother's Day Ever!}

I wanted to wish all of you mama's a Happy Mother's Day!

I had a wonderful day spending time with my family. We had a very nice lunch with my Dad, Mom, Uncle and Aunt. Before we left the house I received these heart warming cards from my kiddos...

The front of my son's card. It says, "Your so beautiful, I can't handle it. But, when I see your beauty, it makes me want to cry a little bit."

The inside left of my son's card. It says, "A special thanks from me to you, a day just to you. Now, I give you this card, with no regard, from me to you, to make you smile is what I do." There is a flower in a vase that reads, "It's not real, so don't try to take it off the paper." And a diamond ring in a box that says, "Trust me, it was hard to get that ring into that case."

The inside right of my son's card. It says, "Connect the stars" with stars in the shape of a heart and a poem...
"I love you very much, and don't ever think I do things to you to be mean or annoying, it's always to make my only and favorite mom laugh." Happy Mother's day... "Hugs incoming!"

The front of my daughter's card. I love that she thinks I'm cool, terrific and awesome. Don't you just love how she had to write "upside down."

The inside left of my daughter's card. Poem: Lots of life has gone by since we'd sit around and play. Under water colored skies. Time and I just flew away. Of all the precious gifts you gave me, my favorite one was love. I will always be your baby. Happy Mother's Day!

Oh my goodness! They make me laugh! I love them two!

After lunch, my Mom, the kiddos and I headed out to JCPenney to get them some new school shoes. Theirs were in pretty bad shape and no matter how much I kept my fingers crossed that they would make it until the end of school, it just wasn't happening. I also got me some new flip flops!

Next we made a trip to Cato's! I love me some Cato's! My Uncle and Aunt gave me a gift card for Mother's Day and I couldn't wait to spend it! I think my daughter tried on every single pair of shoes they had.

There were so many goodies that I wanted to get, but I had to stay strong! I had to resist the temptation! For now. So, I found a cute pair of shorts and a flower headband for my daughter.

I loved spending the day with my Mom and I'm a bit upset that I didn't take any pictures of her. I think I was just enjoying my time with them all so much, that it completely slipped my mind.

Since I forgot, I dug up a couple of my favorite pictures of my beautiful Mom. I love her to pieces! She's always there for me when I need her.

Truncated Posts and Commenting - Opinions Needed

The last few hours I have been reading about blogging. I'm always interested in learning new things that I can use or do that will help make me a better blogger.

There are two things that I have always struggled with and I need your opinions.

1. Truncated Posts.

Love em or hate em?

For those of you that aren't sure what truncated posts are...They are posts that have a few sentences showing and then you will have to click that will take you to the full post.

The main reason why I started doing this on my blog was to have my blog load quicker (especially on Fridays for the linky party).

2. Commenting.

Do you prefer bloggers respond to your comments via email or on your blog? Or do you respond to comments on your blog?

I tend to reply via email when the e-mail address is available, but reply to a commenter on their blog when they are a no-reply blogger.

What do you prefer?

I couldn't wait to get back home after our trip to see the hubster's doctor. We basically went to discuss the first denial of his back surgery. We decided to try again... now we wait.

I just wanted to share a few pictures that I took yesterday. I did post a couple of them on Facebook, but sharing them here as well. I'm sorry some of them aren't that great. I took them on my iphone.

Photo Mat Turned Decorative Magnetic Frame

I've been holding on to this mat for a while now...

Waiting on that special project idea to pop into my head.

Then it magically happened! Why not make it into it's own frame?

After cutting my scrapbook paper to size...

I painted the gold an aqua color. I just wasn't feeling the gold.

Once the paint was dry, I sprayed a bit of adhesive onto the mat and pressed my paper into place.

Next, I trimmed the edges of the paper, gave the edges a tiny bit of sanding and got all kinds of crazy with my ink pad.

I think I may have gotten a bit too much in some spots.

Since I'm impatient and couldn't wait on the ink to dry (well, I gave it about two minutes), I flipped it over and proceeded to make my pocket on the back.

Using card stock and my trusty scissors, I snipped up the paper (without measuring, of course). I made sure to cover the mat opening completely, but gave enough room to insert a picture and for the tape. This way, I could change out my picture.

I placed pieces of double sided sticky tape onto the card stock (sides and bottom) and pressed it onto the back of the mat.

At this point, I also added on my magnets. I just used my tape because the mat is lightweight and I *cough* didn't want to mess with glue.

Up next... I decided to cover the entire mat in mod podge just to make it a bit easier to clean and keep the paper/ink from getting destroyed on the fridge door.

The paper did wrinkle up a bit in some places, but I worked them out and once it dried... they were gone. I think this may have happened because I used spray adhesive underneath the paper instead of mod podge.

So, whatcha think?!

I didn't even finish up April's Photo Challenge. Honestly, I was going to take a break for a while. I have to admit... I miss it. I miss taking the pictures and looking through all of them at the end of the month.

Even though I didn't finish the April challenge, here are the photos that I did take...

{Guest Post} Decluttering Tips

I’ll admit, I have a pretty bad habit of collecting random items and knickknacks. From film festivals, concerts, and even picking up the community newspaper on the street, these items always end up somewhere in my apartment. As a college student, it’s so easy to let my apartment turn into a cluttered mess. You may have the same problem as well. From junk mail to newspapers and magazines, cluttering your home is a pretty fast process. Having done it many times, let me share some decluttering tips from my own experience.

Start off small. Thinking that you will have finished decluttering your living space in one swoop may be a bit naive. Decluttering should be a steady process that will take a bit of time. Start in one corner of your home and move around. Don’t take off too much time to clean if you have other things to do. While you’re waiting for water to boil, clear out a counter. Finding those sweet spots of time to clean is key.

Dance! If you plan on decluttering for an extended period of time, play some music! It will definitely energize you and make this process go by a lot faster. Some fast dance music will definitely set the mood and make it less miserable. Warning: Try not to put slow music as your pace might slow down with the music.

Storage, maybe? For those particularly bulky items, storage might be something you want to consider. Or if you’re like me, you might want to save a few of those brochures from that music festival you attended a couple of years ago. Think about renting self-storage. It’s not for everyone, but it’s definitely an option to help make your home more open and clean.

I Love Me Some T.V.

I've never been one to sit and watch Television all day. Well, except for when I'm working on a cross stitch project.

Nothing like watching some Lifetime Movies and cross stitching. It's so peaceful. Well, except for the drama in each and every movie that will more than likely ruffle your feathers a tiny bit.

Aside for my love of HGTV (Though, I'm a bit tired of watching House Hunters) and the Food Network, here are a few of the hubster and my favorite shows (Most of them get DVR'd until we have time to watch them).

The Soup - Although, I probably shouldn't admit to watching this one, it makes me giggle.

Being Human - Love how the show is not just vampires... not just ghosts or not just werewolf's. The best of all worlds!

Raising Hope - Sadly, this show reminds me a lot of our family. We're just goofy like that.

New Girl - She's so stinkin' cute and the characters on the show mesh perfectly together.

Body of Proof - Awesomeness! Love the attitude and sense of humor!

Big Brother - I can't help it! I'm hooked. Even though each and every season the wrong person wins... I can't help but watch it.

Jersey Shore - Oh brother! It's like watching a train wreck happen. You just can't look away no matter how hard you try.

Hoarders - I just love watching this show because I can take a peek into their lives. What made them become hoarder's. Where did the hoarding start.

Grim - I have a love... dislike relationship with this show. I love the idea behind the show. I dislike the way they do their heads every time they "shift facial forms". Plus, do they not have any "normal" crimes in that city?!

Million Dollar Rooms - Why I should be extremely happy for the millionaire's on the show, I can't say that I am. I watch because the way some of them act... it makes me laugh. *Hanging head in shame now*

The Big C - I love this show! Definitely not appropriate for children in any way. Watch after the kiddos are in bed, but they're so funny! It's a roller coaster of emotions!

The Killing - This show drags on bad, but I have to finish watching it. I have to see how it ends!

True Blood - I'm totally addicted! Another one the kids should definitely not be up to see. Love, love, love it!

Falling Skies - They are taking so long to get this one back on the tube! I'm starting to give up.

Ax Men - Another one that makes me giggle. The Swamp man is hilarious and so reminds me of the hubsters step dad. He should have his own show!

Storage Wars - Yuuuup! I'm sorry, but Dave is NOT my favorite.

The Walking Dead - Awesome show! Zombies! Yes, please!

Behind the Scenes

The cleaning fairy is totally fired!

Okay, Okay... I realize that there is no cleaning fairy, but if there was it would be a fairy dude!

There's no way that a cleaning fairy gal would let the house get this bad.

Oh wait!

That cleaning fairy would be me and I've so let things get out of hand around here!

Seeing this mess makes me want to go back to bed.

The sad thing is, most of these things have been here since yesterday. Why would I want to get all of this done so that I could have nothing to do today and have a day to completely relax?! That would be no fun!

Dishes that need to be done.

Bed needs to be made.

Laundry that needs washing.

Dusting that needs to be done (in every.single.room!)

Laundry that needs to be put up.


Shoes that need to be put up and a fan leg that has fallen off.

My "crafting" area that needs to be cleaned up.

Functional Friday Linky Party #28

This week has not been a "crafty" week for me. I tried. I just had ~~complete~~ mostly failures.

My craft failures of the week...

Master Bedroom Before:

I liked the colors of the bedding in our bedroom in the before picture and I liked the style. However, it was a bit too busy and too dark. I wanted something lighter.

This is not working! The hubster says he feels like he's in his Grandmother's house. I have to agree. I made the shams, curtains and added onto the pillow cases (because they were a bit too short).

The good thing is! We have something on our bed that lightens up the room.

Next up... the bird feeder I painted for my Dad's birthday.

It didn't quite turn out like I had imagined. My daughter thinks "it is more for a kids room". I, on the other hand, think it looks like a clown house.

Lastly, my Seasonal Cross Stitch picture that I was finally able to frame. I purchased a frame from Goodwill for $1.99 and made it over especially for this piece.

Here's the issue. The piece didn't fit exactly in the frame. I needed a mat around it. I didn't have a mat or anything to make a mat from. So, I used fabric. Easy peasy, right?! Nope.

I stitched it too close to the cross stitch and it's completely crooked. I now have to redo it.

On a positive note, I'm loving the frame!

Keeping my fingers crossed that I can do a bit better next week.

I don't have a lot listed in it right now. There are just a few goodies, but I'm hoping to work on more very soon.

As soon as I get my Dad's birthday gift finished, the laundry done, the dishes washed and our bedroom project done... I can start working on my shop goodies again!

With the help of the hubster, I've decided to name my shop Housewife's Contribution. Why? You may ask.

Well, after reading this...

The last couple of days, I have been super busy around the house and haven't had a chance to work on goodies for my (hopefully soon) Etsy shop. It feels like it's taking forevah!

I'm having one of those ~~weeks~~ months where everything is out of whack and I'm having trouble keeping everything in line.

So, while I get things in order around here, I will be getting my eye google on with all of your projects.

Painted Floors - Yes! Please?!

I don't think I will ever have the pleasure of owning my very own painted floor. The hubster loves him some carpet. Plus, I'm not sure that I would have the talent to piece together a room around a floor. I love to create decor pieces and such, but piecing them together in a room... that's a huge issue for me.

So.... in the meantime... I will just get my eye google on with these beauts...

Doesn't looking at these just make you... happy?!
