First off, the "scenery" at any nudist camp is of course very absorbing (the variances in human anatomy are truly amazing) but what I always find most interesting is how the social climate is so warm and inviting. There's a distinct friendliness (and openness) you don't find in other social milieus. Of course it's nearly cliche to say, well, without clothes on, there's nothing to hide, so be yourself. One should be themselves no matter what the social climate. What I'm reaching for here is to say I think nudism brings out our universal aspects, our humanness, or mutual humanity. But it doesn't extinguish our fierce admiration for beautiful examples of human development (I'm speaking euphemistically of course). To mingle naked in a mixed gender, all-ages environment helps you realize how closely related we all are, especially to what's beautiful on this planet. ("Nudist Camps For Teens")The featured resort is open warm season only, and all of the amenities are outdoors except for sleeping quarters and a covered pavilion for dining and entertainments. That means, for example, the showers are outdoors and of course coed and, if you've never showered with a group of twenty people, you're in for some really new experiences. What I noticed most is how most are very chatty while they carry on with their business of washing up. No daintiness for these folks, which, depending on the subject, either pleases you tremendously or goes the other way. The business of dining in nude communal fashion takes some getting used to as well (and of course clothing, primarily sarongs worn by the older women, is permitted). Initially I felt it improper to be "hanging" out while I savored the fare, but within a few minutes forgot the nudity and just went along. I sat with a German couple, their three children, and a couple from Switzerland. All were happily nude and seemingly aloof to their sartorial condition. ("Experiments With Nudism: Nudist Camps")

Visit any legitimate nudist site and you'll somewhere read that nudism is about "body acceptance" or "body freedom." We're all for that but that's hardly the whole story. While nudism is inherently wholesome and healthy, it is indeed sensual in a great many ways. Your personal response to being nude with strangers or friends isn't entirely apple pie and sunshine--there's a bit of internal stuff too that covers the spectrum from feeling a new variety of collectivism and belonging ("these are my people") to "this is making me terribly excited" (in, you know, a very sensual way). You're thinking, "What the hell?"

Well, the fact is nudism is very primal (or more accurately, its essence is "primal"). When we face each other and nature completely nude we're stepping into a new relationship with the world around us. We've shed 10,000 years of civilization's attempt to hide our bare bodies, an historical leap back to where many of us think mankind took a wrong turn, ultimately destroying his relationship with nature and a harmonious existence on the planet. The Paleo Movement attempts to correct course. Now, imagine a workshop that begins with shedding your clothes (for an entire week) that's perfectly balanced gender-wise and living as close to primal as one can (in a warm climate of course). Communal Nudism: Accepting one's body begins early in Europe, where coed nudity and "body freedom" first gained acceptance (or "re-acceptance"). It's startling for an American ill-accustomed to the idea of all-ages, mixed gender nudity at a community level (as in a town or village community pool, feature here), but one quickly adapts, which we think confirms how inherently natural nudism is, once we "cross the barrier." Mixing Nudist Generations

Nudist Beaches Are For All
The fact that teen nudists generate enormous enthusiasm (at one level of thinking) for nudism in general doesn't devalue the multitude of other benefits one accrues from recreating nude in mixed company, both gender and age-wise. There is often a dichotomy between what one (male or female) has going on in their brain versus the wholesome activity they may be occupied with, be it volleyball or just lying naked in the sun. That's part of the wonderful experience of nudism--it produces very strong sensations both physical and mental in nature, private and public. When I saw the picture above I thought, oh my God, she's stunning. It provoked deep appreciation, but not lustful fantasizing. Maybe it's the fact that such creatures are a regular part of my life (I live near a well populated nudist beach). I see them and it makes me feel good and glad to be alive. I keep myself in shape so when they see me naked it won't make them feel bad. Everyone of course ages. The blond beauty above may some day have kids and add a few pounds, suffer a rough patch or two, as we all do, and it will begin to show. Motherhood represents a turning point for many women (as it should) and what I particularly like about spotting young moms with their kids on nudist beaches is their general confidence. They've put their bodies through miraculous strains and still manage to look beautiful and desirable and, above all, happy. I suppose it's their serenity that catches my eye. They'll be sitting there making sand castles with the kids or just watching them play and they look serenely happy. It's lovely.There is another "type" I meet a lot on the beaches (and especially if you visit singles resorts in the Caribbean) that I always enjoy. She is no longer the teen beauty, maybe has a few extra pounds, but she's also not married nor has children. She's single, confident, usually in some profession (the woman above works in the insurance industry in Atlanta), and takes no prisoners. She'll stand there and talk with you while you're both stark naked and not bat an eye or seem confused about what to do with her hands (a problem I have). She'll glance unflinching at our "differences," anatomically speaking (I always want to ask, "So, what do you think?") and then go on talking about the room service or whether or not I've tried the catamaran cruise ("It's a hoot!"). We might meet later in the bar and have a drink like old friends.

Of course I could go on and on. I'm just shy of being Boomer. When I meet those who are, on the beaches or at the resorts, they're always a hell of lot of fun. Most of them keep in very good shape too, which I appreciate. We can be talking about sports or kids when a beautiful young woman walks by (nude of course), which causes us both to fumble our thoughts and speech. The moment passes and we collect ourselves. In the course of a typical day these pleasant interruptions (of losing one's faculties) are commonplace. Mixing the generations is, I think, a good thing, and for this very reason. You do get to see beautiful women and meet other people in other recreational pursuits, but obviously in nudist environments it can be very much more interesting. Nudist Bare Sharon (of the San Diego group) spent an entire week with friends living completely au naturel on desolate Baja, Mexico beaches while the rest of us were shivering and paying homage to the recent holiday. "It gets chilly at night but the days are hot and the beaches entirely empty. Taking a couple mile walk completely nude (and out of mad-dash range) is a very exciting thing to do, and we did it a lot." Of course they're were mishaps. Perhaps forty percent of all nudist photography originates from the former Eastern Bloc. Why is that? We think it's because during hard times (and let's admit, the communist era was one long slog of a hard time) people look for affordable recreation. It turns out nudism is cheap. We're glad it stuck. What Do Women Think Of Nudist Men's Stuff? It's an interesting question (and yes, it crosses every man's mind whose stood on a nude beach). It turns out they're somewhat fascinated and often titillated by what they see, depending on circumstances and of course their preferences (cut, uncut, lean, etc.). There's even an "exact geometry" (which is noted somewhere in this blog) that they like to ogle just as men like seeing their preferred statistical arrangement on the other sex. Exactly What Are You Waiting For?
Don't worry about the weather up here in the north. The high season is just getting underway in Central America (there are a couple more nudist beaches dotting Mexico) and the Caribbean. And it's not just a rhetorical question either. Why aren't you (if you're not already) a nudist? The typical response is people feel they're either not fit enough (so, get fit) or it's just too risque for them. It's in fact not at all risque unless you go out of your way (say, to Hedonism II or III). At most nudist resorts and on most nude beaches most if not all of the people are just plain folks. When Dad's A Nudist

It's not always easy becoming a nudist around the family. Daughters seem to handle their mothers being topless or nude but when dad joins in it can stir up a little emotional embarrassment (and some uneasy staring). At a minimum, it's a very interesting topic: "When my dad took his suit off and it was just out there I shrieked. But after a few minutes it was just boring." Rogue Nudists: Some couples enjoy taking their nudist habits to sparsely inhabited public beaches. "It adds to the experience" said one North Carolina couple. Keeping Your Cool
A lot of people (particularly men) wonder how one keeps their cool when confronted with certain "awakenings," such as from the nether regions. In most nudist situations and particularly at nudist resorts embracing FKK principles (nudism for the whole family) one is at great risk of viewing stunning achievements in human beauty, and often very youthful examples. You may feel conflicted emotions--nudism is above all a wholesome recreation (and truly is, but then there are divisions, such as "adult nudism" away from an all-ages environment), so how could it be stirring things up, so to speak? The simple fact is your "whole body response" is a natural reaction to the clues nature is providing, with origins that have little concern for propriety (think Darwin). You still control how you behave. It is perfectly normal to occasionally need to excuse yourself for some "calming down.

Taking Nudist Pictures: A lot of men and women enjoy taking nudist pictures of their mates. There's an excitement to it on either side of the lens. If you're imaging a scenario that risks escalation, forcing a coupled retreat to the dunes or nearby woods, you're getting it. It's sort of a titillating hobby to say the least.

Nudist Arousal: While the above paragraphs tread somewhat lightly, there is a related subject that can't really be discussed euphemistically. Women report (more than men) that "exposing themselves" in a nudist or merely topless way is very arousing for them. Community Pools In Europe
At first sight you may have thought this was a report about yet one more nudist resort hidden in the hills somewhere quite out of reach, about which we make mention of its recreational facilities, rates and general ambiance. Except this isn't some FKK resort, it's a community pool in the heart of Germany during a "swimsuit optional" day. Attending are the just the locals; moms, dads, kids and teenagers. Lusting In One's Heart
Is A Form Of Sanity
When Jimmy Carter stated in his Playboy interview that he, a born again Christian, did in fact "lust in his heart" for women, collective mankind breathed a sigh of relief. We were pleased to hear even upright, rigidly moral men suffered this affliction. In the dictionary "lust" is a bit ambiguous--there is a sexual component that interferes with what's really happening here--you're also feeling a deep aesthetic appreciation for the beauty of the subject in question; more succinctly, for the facts of the matter before you. Seeing a beautiful woman, particularly a very young woman, delivers a complex array of emotion and subjective interpretation. This is also the case when viewing great art. Your experience is very personal.

You may be wondering what this has to do with nudism. In my opinion, one of the more pleasing aspects of communal nudity is the ability afforded to view beautiful examples of naked human forms without the complication of having to navigate traditional methods. For example, buying expensive dinners beforehand, if you get my drift. A nudist just goes to the beach to see and appreciate beautiful naked women and teens. It's extraordinarily soothing and soul satisfying--at least to me. I have no need for conquest; I do not go to a nude beach with predatory intention. I'm sated, even sedated, with just the view. When I see a work of art I have no need to actually own it, and certainly no necessary inclination to make love to it--I just want to view it and appreciate it. Seeing topless woman and teens does not make me mad with lust, or uncontrollably antisocial in other regards. It makes me a better human because I'm reminded of the beauty out there that is the compensation for some of life's trials. It's affirming.

It was unintentional, as we didn't know our booked couple's resort had a clothing optional beach for guests. Needless to say it was more popular than the textile-only beach. What I wasn't prepared for was the enthusiasm expressed by my very new, late twenty-something wife. "Should we go? Will you mind?" I frankly didn't know, and not until the next morning when we nervously "sampled" the nude beach did I realize I must have been harboring a latent nudist gene all along. Municipal Pools In Europe Are Different
It is difficult for the average American to imagine arriving at their local city-run community swimming pool to see it full of nude or nearly nude teenagers on summer break. I suspect if it happened, ambulances would be immediately summoned in response to outbursts of cardiac arrest, and rightly so. It's a paradigm shift unlikely to arrive any time soon on these shores. But it's an everyday occurrence (the nudity, not the cardiac arrest) in some communities throughout Europe, especially the further east one travels. The water park above (called "Water Park" in Romanian) is just outside Bucharest. Not only is nudity permitted, but the local authorities also serve alcohol, something else we wouldn't see municipal authorities permit in the States. As for the experience of visiting one of these water parks with American vision, imagine sensory overload. Teen girls frolicking topless or naked around you as you sip on your Stevia beer (if in Romania) may be too much for some to handle.

Heat Waves: Nudist House isn't a front for featuring naked people standing around their Webers cooking hot dogs, but a thematically pleasing way to package and present the idea of people living a "body freedom" lifestyle, or one that permits full or partial nudity for the whole family.
